CIVIL WAR NO MORE

I've never thought so, but I've had a lot of guys tell me they believe women do have the upper hand, in dating, marriage, etc... Sooo, I honestly don't know~~

Would You Rather Your Parents Beat You?
Posted: 2/25/2006 9:05:17 AM
My mom never hit us either, just did the "silent treatment"... My dad rarely hit us. Once I called him a MF while on the phone with a friend (I think I was about 15). Woohoo, big mistake, because he heard me. I won't even tell that story--might scare y'all..

One punishment I hated was having to wash and wax my dad's ski boat on a Saturday.... I've never waxed anything again in my life. Or, he'd make me cut the grass.... I've never done that again either~~~I used to find ways to screw up the lawnmower and he finally quit using that as a punishment>>>>

I think that's something totally different Longtoe... Have you ever seen the documentary "Bullied to Death"? If not, try to find a way to see it. It's not humiliation necessarily, it's the cruelty and bullying that they put up with for years and years, most of the time that leads to the violence and revenge....It really opened my eyes.

I see nothing wrong with the public humiliation thing. I know for me, it would work. Yeah, it would work for me. I can't stand being humiliated.

I know I've seen cases where judges have sentenced people (only adults that I've seen) to "public-type humiliation" such as you mentioned. I think it's great, and if I would have had to do something like that I don't think I would have ever repeated whatever got me there in the first place.

My parents did the grounding thing. I hated it, and used to tell my dad to just hit me and get it over with so I could go out with my friends~~ I know, not funny, but when I look back on it, it's funny to me>>>>

I'm sorry you guys, as I know this was intended to be a serious thread... I just couldn't help myself. Dogs eat really gross stuff.... I don't care whether they leave the yard, the house, etc... They will always find something gross to eat, and they totally relish it~

I'll just make one more comment.. He did a few "fun" songs; Been a Son, Lithium, and Smells like Teen Spirit, just to name a few... Maybe the songs come across to everyone differently. He's always made me think, let's put it that way~~~ And Lithium is one of my favorites of all~~~

Being the animals that we are ((and we all know how animals react to someone they don't think is "right"))-- I think we need to use our "gut instinct" and go with it.. It usually tells us the truth, whether we want to hear it or not~

A look into modern social problems and how it translates to dating
Posted: 2/21/2006 10:23:50 PM
The most important thing I've learned is that the only person I can "truly" count on is myself. Nothing seems to be forever, no matter what our ideals may be~~ And, there are really some women out there who work just as hard as a man--harder, but I'm not bashing. When I was married for almost 20 years I did almost everything (except the mechanical stuff); paid the bills, read all the fine print, cleaned, cooked, did the laundry, worked full time, took care of the kids and stayed home with them when they were sick, and even went back to college 10 years ago while still doing all of that. I"m sure there are women out there who may take advantage of it, but hopefully more of them are doing what they feel they need to do than just doing it for "revenge or power">? ((Not sure if those are the words I'm looking for))...

have all the girls gone crazy?
Posted: 2/21/2006 11:01:28 AM
You can't determine the future by sleeping with someone one time.. My ex (of 20 years) and I slept together the first night and the next 6 nights as well... If there's chemistry, there's chemistry. I find denying all of that to be playing a kind of game. I respect a guy who respects a woman, but that goes both ways. My ex respected me and I respected him, no matter what happened on the first date. It's what happened afterwards that counted.. Get what I'm saying>?

hot guy when met in real life was anything but sexy
Posted: 2/19/2006 8:08:12 AM
Umm, it seems to be a part of this online dating thing.. Always be ready for the "unexpected". It's happened to me more times than I care to say. Which is why I always drive myself somewhere and only meet in a public place (easier to bow out gracefully that way)... It's frustrating, I know. But--I have to say that I've also met quite a few guys who are NOT like that and who actually look like their pictures. Don't give up just yet~
