Maybe a day late here but how the hell did Louis have the guts to attack Simons song choice for Jamie for not being big band when he had chosen a pop song for the idiots whose names I refuse to speak! The only justification I can come up with is that there is a horn section......but then that applies to both songs so I've no flipping idea!!! Aaaaagh pass the wine please!!!

facebook whats the deal?

I love Facebook, it's a great way of keeping contact with people who don't live near enough to meet up with. Living abroad means that it's expensive to call my UK based friends on a regular basis so I use FB to leave them quick messages and let people know that I'm thinking of them. Also in my line of work colleagues only tend to stay in one resort for 6 months at a time before moving elsewhere so it's great to be able to keep lines of communication open with these people who previously were in my life for such a short space of time.
I also use FB to share my photos, when I first came to Madeira everyone wanted to know what it was like so I simply uploaded all of my photos onto FB and they could all see my beautiful island from my point of view - it's not all about showing pictures of you and your mates p*ssed and acting daft!
The only downside for me is all of the apps - Farmville, Mafia wars etc - they really aren't my kind of thing and I'm not really interested in what score people have got on them so I simply hide them from my news feed. Fair play if you enjoy them but they're really not that interesting to me!

Caucasian / European What are we?

"Well if you're meeting people from other planets then yes, that might be appropriate!"
I meet people from other planets every day (or at least it seems that way!)
I have no idea where my origins are but I would say I'm caucasian because of the colour of my skin, I'm English,British and European as I was born and raised in England - a British and European country.
This evening I have also been told I am in danger of turning into a bread and butter pudding if that's of any help to anyone??? No??? Ok, I'll get my coat!!!

How far is too far?

When I met my ex husband I was living in Gran Canaria and he was in Essex (we met online accidently when I misspelt an email address). We started off emailing and then talking on the phone before he booked a holiday to Gran Canaria to come and see me. We carried on like this for a while until I left my job to be with him. Having originally come from Leicestershire myself when I decided to move back to the UK to be with him in Essex I was moving to an area I didn't know where I didn't know anyone other than him. We made it work as best we could.
Due to my job and the fact that I live overseas for most of the year, unless I meet a nice Portuguese man (highly unlikely in my experience) then it's going to have to be back to LDR's for me!

what do you think of call centre workers (banks in particular)
Posted:

I had to call the Halifax on Sunday evening as I had found transactions on my account which weren't mine. The lady that I spoke with was absolutely lovely...dealt with the issue efficiently but was also very sympathetic and understanding. I've never experienced that level of customer service from a call centre before and have written a letter to the bank thanking her for her kindness and praising her compassion towards me.

At least we have an easy winner for the "who is going out first from the live shows" competition.
Those 2 lads are shockingly bad and should never have got through, although I think we all knew it was inevitable when Louis got the groups!

Dancing Strictly for poofs

I trained as a professional dancer (about a million years ago) until I had to give up due to an injury and the stupid flipping NHS not detecting it soon enough (thanks a bunch!).
At my college (which actually was like the school in Fame) I would say that out of about 200 guys possibly only half of them were gay. To this day I find it really sexy if a man can dance, especially if he's good with his hips...means he'll probably be good at other things too

I don't think I've ever actually laughed out loud whilst reading something on a forum but you guys have bought tears to my eyes! Thank you everyone!
Please keep updating on the situation, I'm on tenterhooks whilst eating my Cadburys chocolate fingers (which have all melted together in the heat and are now just one big chocolate hand).

Family holidays for 2010 where to go to?

Andyaa, you've clearly had a bad experience with reps and for that I apologise on behalf of all the thousands of reps in the world who actually do give a sh1t about their customers and making their holidays a wonderful experience.
Just a little example for you... Last night I was on airport duties, I met the Gatwick flight in and at the very end of the flight there was one couple missing. I phoned through to our handling agents (security won't let anyone into the baggage hall anymore) and discovered that one of our customers had taken this couples suitcase. I spoke with the customers and got them on their transfer to their hotel with the assurance that I would get their case to them before they went to bed. I delivered the left case to the correct customers, retrieved the case they had taken by mistake and then drove across to the other side of the island to deliver their case. In days gone by it would have been left down to the customers to sort it out (and if you're not on a package holiday it still would be your responsibility) but we actually care about our customers and I wouldn't have been able to sleep if they didn't get their case as promised.
BTW we still do meet you at the airport, accompany you to the hotel on your transfer and visit the hotel 6 days a week (we get 1 day off a week - you have to allow us that and that is when you have the 24-7 number just in case). Maybe you should come to Madeira and let us change your mind about the customer service you receive from holiday reps.
Oh and just something that really bugs me...it's Thomson not Thompson...sorry, just really gets to me!

FYI Portland Direct is part of TUI UK which is the umbrella under which you will find Thomson, First Choice, Freestylers, 2wentys, Simply Travel, Sovereign and a host of other companies. Just because your brochure doesn't say Thomson doesn't mean you won't get a Thomson rep. Thomas Cook now own Airtours, Direct Holidays etc etc so unless you book everything directly with the hotel, get a taxi from the airport upon arrival and fly with Sleazyjet the chances are you will have to have some dealings with a rep of some description!

Grannys Boney Finger, Terrorised Teenage Boy

I think that common sense has been taken away from the police force with targets and political correctness etc.
Maybe I'm an old fashioned kind of girl but I do believe we should have respect for our elders and those in positions of authority - obviously if they prove that they are not worthy of that respect then that is a different matter...
Posh - I agree wholeheartedly - hence I've pretty much repeated what you said!
And I just used the word "hence"...it's a big night for me lol!

This is absolutely disgusting, I'm ashamed of what our police and judicial system have become.
My dad was a policeman and he retired early having simply become disillusioned with what the job had become. He was no longer allowed to police the area and ensure the community was kept safe from those who chose not to abide by the law. He instead was sent on ridiculous political correctness courses and given targets to achieve.
Still to this day I am a little in awe of policemen, probably due to my upbringing, but unfortunately kids now have little or no respect for the police, the law, their elders....the list goes on and on. I have to stop typing now as I'm getting myself angry!!!
Final word...that poor lady, everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves!

What' your opinion of holiday reps?
Posted:

As a team leader for a tour operator based in Madeira I'm very passionate and proud of my team of reps all of whom would do anything to make sure the customer has an excellent holiday. I know that some people have had bad experiences with reps but I genuinely do think that they do a fantastic job in general.
What do you think? Do they add to your holiday experience or are they just there to have a good time themselves?

Thanks for your applause, I'm taking a bow as I type lol!
I can only speak for the company that I work for but this summer the number of customers ticking their reps as excellent on the questionnaires is up by a massive 21%. That may not mean much to anyone else but it tells me that we are now employing, training and retaining excellent reps who are exceeding customers expectations. We have also implemented a massive new training venture which every member of overseas and UK based staff has been involved in at the beginning of this summer which I believe has a lot to do with our fantastic results.
I'm being boring now, I apologise! Come to Madeira anyway and experience customer service that is second to none...I promise!

I would definitely recommend either Turkey or Egypt as the holidays are cheap at the minute and they don't use the Euro so you should get a decent amount for your money whilst on holiday. I live in Madeira and the Euro/Pound thing is a huge problem for tourists who come away and find themselves limited as to what they can do whilst they're here...it's such a shame when you've saved up for an amazing holiday!
If I can also reply to whoever made the comments about holiday reps?
I am a Team Leader for a tour operator and I can assure you that nobody in my team fits the description given. They are all over 30 and so have a higher level of life experience than the typical rep, they work extremely hard and are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week in the hotels and by phone out of their duty times. I know that there are bad apples all over the world who give reps a bad name but please don't tar all of them with the same brush. I am proud of my team and their "customer obsessed" attitude, I truly believe there are no lengths to which they wouldn't go in order to make sure their customers had an excellent holiday. People are very quick to criticise and not so forthcoming with the praise!
Sorry, I just get very protective over the job that I love and my team that I am so proud of!

Funniest thing ever happened to you during sex?

My ex husband played football for a local team every Sunday morning and returned home one lunchtime after a match with an injury to his right thigh. After a long hot bath he rubbed in some Deep Heat cream and we went about our day as normal. Later into the evening we were getting down to some fun and I was stroking his body whilst going down on him. He was getting more and more into it until he suddenly pushed me away screaming "stop, stop, you're hurting me" and he ran off into the bathroom. When I followed him in there he was sitting in the bath running cold water over his bits and he had tears in his eyes. Turns out that I had stroked his thighs and then took hold of his member and was rubbing Deep Heat all over his family jewels! It took a while but eventually he was able to see the funny side of it. He never used Deep Heat again for the rest of our marriage and probably still doesn't now!

The shaving craze
Posted:
9/30/2009 1:06:45 PM
I tried shaving "down there" for the first time 2 years ago just out of curiosity. I'd never done it before and I wondered what it would look/feel like. I honestly never thought it would be something I'd keep doing. Well 2 years later and I'm still doing it as I absolutely love the feeling of being smooth in that area.
Everyone is entitled to their own preference in all areas of life...I don't like Indian food but I would never tell someone that they're wrong for enjoying a curry. If this is such a big problem for a man in the bedroom I would hope that we could come to a compromise. There again it would be worrying to me that a man can only see me for my "bits" rather than the person I actually am.
As for the hygeine issue...I haven't noticed any particular difference however I do have to say that at that certain time of the month there are no more squeals from the bathroom as a rogue hair gets caught in the applicator tubes!!! Sorry...tmi!!!
