Diane, thanks for hosting the party at Cafe 13 last night. I had a great time & was glad that the management liked us. BTW, how many matches were there last night with your game? I know I had a match in the couples game but didn't here about many people who did have a match as well.

Suni, did you & Hallie stumble back to the room ok after drinking the Mai Tai? You're right, the Mai Tai's are a great deal (6.50 each) & they are powerful. Had a great time talking by the pool last night with everybody. Did I miss anything at Bahi Hut after I left?

I came across something for Sunday Morning, but don't want to publish it here because it may offend some people. Let me know if anybody's interested. BTW, another singles group posted this event on their calendar so you're going to have more than one singles group at Marina Jacks.

I was in Nawlins about 13 years ago on a weekend. I went with a group & one of the persons practiced voodoo--VERY SCARY!. Almost everybody except for me and another person went to Bally's Casino. The two of us took off to the US Mint & Jazz Museum & the French Market instead & ended up being waited on by a waitress at Margueritaville who starred in "The Big Easy". Wanted to take the St Charles cablecar to Audobon Park but only made it as far as the Garment District. The oysters & the crawfish pie around Jackson Square was outstanding. If you go to New Orleans, you have to sample the local cuisine there.

Leslie, three different people in Sarasota told me about the Witness Cafe being a gay bar & yes it used to be Old Hickory Restaurant. I've never been in Witness Cafe & judging by what you mentioned about your straight female friend, I don't think I'm going in anytime soon.

Leslie, I have heard from several people that PRIMO is not that great. A couple of people said that there spaghetti was not cooked when they received their dinner. The other places you mentioned are ok. Banana Factory is more of a bar than a restaurant but I am sure that with Suni, Hallie & all the girls coming, they would like the atmosphere. Other places to eat nearby Bahi Hut: 1. Anna Maria Oyster bar--next door to Banana factory--Seafood & oyster bar. Good food with prices about the same as barnacle Bills. 2. Captain Brian's Seafood-- Just over Manatee County line on US 41 North. A combination of a seafood restarant & a seafood market. 3. Rico's Pizzeria--Pizza & Italian food, but restaurant is a chain. 4. Bacalauro--new place that just opened up on US 41 about 2 blocks north of Banana Factory. Puerto Rican & Latin food. Prices are very reasonable, but don't know how the food is. 5. Subway--next door to Captain Brian's. Typical fast food from Subway. 6. Witness Inn--next to Barnacle Bill's. Mostly a bar, but may serve some food. BE FOREWARNED--This place is a gay/lesbian bar.

I have no idea how the title of the thread changed Hallie. I had nothing to do with it. Looks like everybody wants the event at Golden Girls Inn instead of Marina Jacks. me leona: Leslie is checking on Bali Hut--there was a headline this past week saying it was sold but I think it's an April Fools joke. It should still be here later this month so you should be able to stop in for a Mai Tai. The list Leslie posted earlier in the thread was for motels; mine is for other bars & nightlife in the area in case other people are interested.

Ceviche is a restaurant & a tapas bar, but the top floor has an open bar for ordering drinks. The top floor is also partially outside, so there would be no A/C up there. Gator Club is pretty much the way you described it--noisy with bands & it is a smoking place. Other bars/nightlife in Downtown Sarasota FYI. 1. Mattison's City Grille--Restaurant right across the street from the Gator Club. 2. Two Senorita's--further West on Main Street about two blocks from Marina Jack's. Mexican restaurant that has good margueritas. 3. Esca--Further east on Main Street near the Hollywood 20 movie theatre--Downstairs is a restaurant & Upstairs is a bar. 4. Horsefeathers--Located behind parking garage right behind Esca--More upscale bar with light food & Karaoke. 5. Ritz Carlton--Bar inside hotel about 1 block from Marina Jacks. Ritzy atmosphere with ritzy prices--for those who want to go first class.

SRQnat, there was a headline in Creative Loafing this week that the Bahi Hut was sold & that a rapper was going to convert it into a glamourous nightclub. Was that an April Fool's joke or is that really happening?

Suniflagirl, it is about 2 miles west of marina jacks. Turn down Ringling Blvd. heading toward Lido Beach & when you get to the traffic circle you are there.

Suniflagirl, I am going to go to the jazz concert the night before. If anybody wants to join me that night, I will try to find a space near where Cafe Europe sets up there stand (from the stage it is the back left section of the park almost to the hill; facing Columbia Restaurant & Cha-Cha Coconuts on the circle. Bring a chair, but no coolers plases.

If anybody is into jazz music, there is a free jazz concert at St. Armands Circle on Friday April 24th (the night before the party). Performing at the concert is B.K. Jackson. Sorry--no country, rap, or hip/hop music at this concert.

Leslie, I just sent you my little known fact. Hope you received it. With even numbers of men & women, I hope you're not going to try speed-dating at the event? I wanted to point out something about motel rooms. If you go to a motel on US 41 North of Marina Jacks towards the airport the rates are cheaper,but the neighboorhood is not very safe & you may run into crime issues. Generally motels along the beach & towards the Interstate are in much safer neighborhoods & are in much nicer, but the rates are much higher. For those people who end up staying on Longboat Key or St. Armands area, Bus#18 (Longboat Key Trolley) goes by Marina Jacks & the last trolley leaves for Longboat Key just before 10:00 p.m. It is another option for people who want to come to the event & not have to worry about drinking & driving or getting pulled over for DUI. Some taxis offer free rides home if you are drunk, but I'm not sure if they do this in April.

Artist, that was not a leather jacket at the Venice party. I have a black jacket, but it is not leather. Will that do? Don't know if there are changing rooms at the 5'O, but I'll manage somehow & give Bylle what she wants. At least I don't have to worry about Speedos there. See you Sunday.
