I know I will get blasted for this but...

And it would be great if we ladies could find decent clothes in the stores, too...Seriously, its ridiculous what merchants have available these days-either teens and twenties stuff, retro-sixties and seventies-hippies/boho, or seriously frumpy polyester what-nots......When will they figure out not all the stylish/feminine ladies are Kennedys or Posts?? We do need affordable stylish clothing for ladies.... .

Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles?
Posted: 10/21/2009 11:41:19 PM
Could be a variety of reasons... Mid- life crisis, finally saved up enough to get one, post divorce thing, etc. And yes, there are women with either motorcycles, scooters,or both. Some people opt for sportier cars or attire.....Tends to vary... That's my observation, anyway...

Hi Sean;

Wouldn't hurt to re-do your profile, make it more female/possible date friendly. Check out some books on online dating re: profile how-to's, should get you back on track! Bonne chance, as they'd say overseas!

why do men post for serious/ltr only?
Posted: 10/21/2009 11:11:21 PM
Could be worse, I always post I'm interested in an LTR-I'm a female. Most replies I get are intimate encounter types or otherwise not LTR people....Go figure, eh?

Average size for MEN - Women’s TURN
Posted: 9/5/2009 6:16:35 PM
I have to admit I have no idea/answer on this. What's the big deal on average anyway? I've liked men who were on the healthy side of thin-normal, to brawny-one Scottish games athlete-no, never got to date him, though, and a local Hispanic man.... I think in the long run its all academic....I do admit to being surprised by one date I thought was short and average size and he turned out to be tall and full figured...{Definitely a good reason for standing photos, too....} In the end its mainly about chemistry and other things....Oh yeah, and it does help if the other party is single, too....

DATED OUTSIDE MY RACE
Posted: 8/5/2009 7:20:12 PM
ok, let's agree to disagree here...not all people involved in bigotry or hatred are Christians....I consider myself a non-denominational Christian, some of my views would probably be looked at oddly by some traditional denominations. But like other posters said here, its all the human race...If my cats can like dogs, I think liking another human shouldn't be too much of a stretch, regardless of skin color...

NEVER been married and 50+ old!
Posted: 7/28/2009 6:43:20 AM
Okay, I'm hoping snapperman's comment on failed marriages is tongue in cheek...right?
As someone who divorced an absentee husband-he left in 1989, I'm hoping that was my first and only divorce....I haven't given up on men and relationships, just don't think I'm in the right location...But that's okay, I'm now planning on relocating for educational reasons as well. I have learned what and who I'm *not* looking for, and that's definitely a big plus...Now I'm at the point I've finally figured out answers to some major questions, its just implementing them I have left to figure out....Good thing research is one of my strong suits!

Shaved bald, fuzzy, or full head of hair ladies?
Posted: 7/26/2009 6:00:25 AM
I agree with the song from *Hair* about long beautiful hair, and I'm finding I like curly hair on men too...Maybe too much Merchant Ivory? My current crush has dark curly hair, and on him its a good look....As a rule, I find men with shoulder length+ hair sexy, even the occasional corn rows on South Seas/Pacific island men-not that I run into many in my neck of the woods... It takes a special man to carry off the shaved head look, and I often find myself wondering why so many younger guys-Joey Lawrence, etc.-shave their heads...Guess its a guy thing....? Anyway, put me down for men with hair, medium to long, as long as it is well kept...

where have we all gone wrong
Posted: 7/26/2009 5:42:20 AM
Where I live people don't seem to date anymore, unless you're a teenager....If I had to rely on the so called *real world* for dates, I would have stayed home a lot more...I will eventually be moving, but now its more for vocational and other reasons than previously, when it was just the social thing alone...Some places just don't seem to be very social or sociable, which probably accounts for a lot of people changing and relocating for better work and social opportunities...

What DoI Do Next?WinXP Issues
Posted: 7/26/2009 5:25:14 AM
Hello fellow Fish:

Further update: my laptops is an Inspiron 5100, Win XP Home edition, which I would not recommend to anyone wanting to work in/on media/entertainment work....wish I'd known about the Media Edition.... I have live one on a trial basis, also have PC Tools Spyware Doctor, also an AVG trial version-now defunct, can't get rid of the turkey..I have F secure on hold, no idea if its worth trying or not, a nervous pc friend in Europe recommended it .Also have Ad Aware, too...Did have McAfee, probably will renew after I get this rascal straightened out. I ended up with 384 memory? ram? instead of the 512 I need to do a bunch of stuff online, as well as adding WiFi...I'll read everything here, and probably start by clearing out the recycle bin, and then checking out the other things as well. I have Mozilla Firefox and IE, Windows is weird about doing anything on Firefox....I do prefer using Mozilla on a whole, though...

Many Thanks!

1. Like every other major site we block users from Africa, Romania, Turkey, India, Russia etc.
Posted: 7/10/2009 12:24:47 AM
It seems it doesn't matter whether a site is pay or free anymore, the scammers seem to find a way to finagle their ways in....Just think if all the people who claimed to work in West Africa or be solicitors to estateless or other dead folks, not to mention lonely Russian women looking for husbands-and I'm a female, no way looking for another woman, unless she's good at cleaning or organizing-really were who or what they claimed to be. Those places would be pretty crowded, and there'd be lots of American women ticked off at women trolling for their guys...I hope we all realize the solicitors or lawyers are a scam, regardless of where their scam letters originate from...Still, I have no idea how they manage to get through spam/scam barriers, guess they're excellent hackers...?

My Dell Inspiron laptop is so slow, I don't know whether to retire it-its 4-5 years old, and so slow, its ridiculous. I get the hourglass. error pages on IE, just plain nothing or frozen screens/sites way too much....Is it time for the office supply store tune up or time to save for/buy a new pc? Its really frustrating me...I need something electronic to edit videos, in addition to email social sites and other info. I already clear the caches and do disk cleanup...

Hi ApprenticeSoulMate;

Nothing wooden in things she drinks? Wonder if she grew up with wooden spoons for those ice cream cups they had in schools? Seems like there are a lot of food oddities/behaviors going on in Florida! I met someone who may or may not still be on POF, he claimed his diet mainly consisted of one specific food. I know I couldn't exist on that kind of diet myself, though...Oh well, like they say-either next! Or that fish quote...!{LOL!}

DATING your 'grandfather' OR 'grandmother!!
Posted: 3/6/2009 9:54:29 AM
I've been contacted by men on this site and others old enough to be my now late dad-and he died at 81 years of age. Anyone old enough to be my grandfather would be over 100 years old....neither age range *do-able* for me....I've always done better with younger men, although I do try to date legal aged guys....Anyone not old enough to vote is too young for me to date...I seem to do well with men in their 30's and slightly older guys...{Up to low 50's or so...} But second *dads/fathers*, sorry, not for me....I already had one father and that was enough...:D

Why Florida?
Posted: 3/6/2009 9:25:17 AM
Moved here twice, mainly no jobs in my hometown area after college. I've been in Orlando since 1980, pretty much. And yes, I am more than ready for a change....As long as my two cats can go with me, I'm fine. I've had enough *la nin'a* winters, time for something different...Any ideas? BTW, I'm also a creative person, too.

Well, I tried, but I am saying goodbye
Posted: 2/3/2009 1:40:59 AM
I'm sorry so many people are having or have had bad experiences here. I am also on other sites myself, some merely social, not dating. On one, they advised me on some points re: my POF profile, so I changed my profile to be more user friendly, but still need to post more photos. I hope to do that soon, weather cooperating...Needless to say, I have learned to join other sites, too. No, no dates yet, guess I need to learn more dating 101 things....But I'm not giving up, though....I hope to move sometime this year, too, which would at least be somewhat of a change...Sometimes its the small stuff that leads to success...

MEN, BEARDS, TATTOOS, AND BAGGIE PANTS
Posted: 1/10/2009 4:25:43 PM
Not big on tattoos myself-although it looks okay on Polynesian men, for some mysterious reason. I don't like multi tattooed men with shaved heads and grunge wear, either...Jury's out on the goatees, some men have soft beards, others, fuhgeddaboutit...Flowered shirts are okay, as long as the man can carry it off. Some men can, others look better in polo or other styles of shirts. Never saw a 40 year old in baggies , but probably not a good look, though. As for the long hair one poster mentioned, some men do look good that way...I'm somewhat non-traditional, I don't understand rockers with suits and short hair, The Beatles being the exception, of course! I see more dark haired men with long hair and so far the ones I've seen look good with that look. Haven't seen too many blonds or red heads with long hair, but then I don't see too many red haired men where I live in general. No idea why, though...!

Single for longer than you expected?
Posted: 12/22/2008 8:38:54 PM
Yes, I have been, mainly g.u.-I live in an unusual area. I've come to the conclusion a change of scene would be a definite plus, my must haves are it has to be a place where I can have my two cats-plus at least some breathing room/play space for them, a work space for me, and near food or farmers markets and hopefully a quiet beach. Not in Florida, though-been here too long, time for a change-and I really am ready for a positive change right about now. And friendly locals are a definite plus....:) Here's to change, new friends, maybe even a very special one???? And new buds/friends for the cats woulld be great, too! But yeah, I am/was surprised I'm still single this long after a divorce, regardless....

Proper ladies don`t go out alone!
Posted: 12/22/2008 8:19:10 PM
I guess I'm just lucky, I have one place I go as my *third place*-not a bar but a deli that does serve wine and beer- which is pretty laid back, and the men I do talk to are usually friends or associates of people I know, or just plain nice folks. I've found some groups I feel comfortable in/with, and my being a single lady or my age, if they even know it, does not bother them. If I'm going somewhere else, I'll get a takeout meal, but even at those places people don't bother me.

Incoming e-mails vs. Outgoing e-mails (replies)
Posted: 12/22/2008 7:51:38 PM
Well, there are also things like event notices-I don't usually reply unless I know I'm going....And even though it is infrequent, the really odd respondents....I'm at the point I'd just like to actually meet people....Seems like a lot of shyness or people either burnt or hurt by past relationships/experiences. But I do respond to people who seem sincere.... Just my two cents, other people may have different thoughts/experiences.

nice guys who are romantic?
Posted: 12/10/2008 7:27:48 AM
Well, I do know there are still nice as opposed to boring guys still out there. It just seems there's a lot of shyness or reluctance to go offline and actually meet in person. I've chatted online with several men and they did seem interested , but when it came to meeting offline, that was a whole 'nother story, to coin a phrase. I can understand when someone turns the guy down that there'd be no further contact. But as someone who is gradually overcoming shyness myself, I guess I'm just mystified or confused by this...That's just my two cents, anyway...

Posted: 10/18/2008 3:30:42 AM
I was in an online relationship with an oversesas truck driver-yes, it was another English speaking country. However, he got too busy flirting with a bunch of other women online it didn't work out in the long run...But if someone was a man I liked, the job-unless it was something illegal or criminal or against my values, really would not be an issue as long as he was working at something he liked and was happy doing...

Strange foods you have eaten, and did you like them?
Posted: 8/29/2008 7:09:35 PM
Escargot/snails-not bad! Venison and pheasant, ditto. I seem to remember Bison burgers from my mom, too. On my own, away from the family I tried haggis, US made which I've been told is different from that made in the UK, and Scotch eggs, hard boiled egg with a sausage coating, fried, I think. Haven't had the legendary fried Mars bars yet, though....Welsh cakes have an odd name as they are really what the British would call biscuits and we in the USA call cookies-great stuff, but no longer on my list due to food allergies....Sushi sounds awful if you haven't tried it, but that's not bad, either, just not curious about the more unusual choices like squid, etc...Definitely no fugu fish! Unless its something I need to eat, too bland food is not a favorite. I like trying new things, just have to stay within certain guidelines because of the previously named allergies...

DATING OUTSIDE YOUR RACE
Posted: 8/27/2008 2:27:23 AM
I would, yes. I've dated Hispanic/Latino men, and I'd definitely be interested in meeting Scandinavian and Polynesian/Pacific Island men, too. I just have not had a lot of luck dating Caucasian men, maybe just not the right one? I like islands or beach communities better, anyway...Condos and high rises are not my idea of the so called American dream...Give me a man who is down to earth and is happy with his life and what he does, if he's a single dad, that's a definite plus!

What's your preference in a get together ?
Posted: 8/24/2008 7:13:28 AM
I attended my first POF event at the Cheyenne Saloon? in Orlando, and the free line dance lessons from Trevor were great, plus I also got to talk to some other POF people. I'm hoping to attend the salsa dance evening, will see if the transportation angle works out...I'd like to have some casual evenings, too, maybe even a ladies only night like other groups do? Seemed to be a bunch of nice women there! More events closer to the heart of Orlando and/or Winter Park would be great, too! Maybe even an old school ice cream social, or something similar? Just a thought anyway...!

Florida Celiac Sprue Gluten Free ?
Posted: 8/9/2008 3:18:36 AM
uh oh, I hope all the posts are just kidding...Gluten has nothing to do with being vegetarian, its in wheat and spelt, and other grains in the wheat family, plus barley, rye and oatmeal. Sensitivity to soy is called soy intolerance, although some people may be allergic to soy, too. Food allergies get to be a major annoyance at times. I don't mind the soy intolerance, but I sure miss a lot of wheat foods there's no substitute for yet...And I have no idea why there' s wheat in tomato soup or Reisen sweets...You really need to become a label reader when you have food allergies, believe me...:(

Florida Celiac Sprue Gluten Free ?

Hi Peter;

I have a wheat allergy, not sure if that qualifies, but I do tend to look for gluten free food as a rule. The only group I know of meets at Whole Foods in Orlando on the same Wednesday as two other groups I'm in....So I'd definitely be open to another similar group...

Horrible Commercials...
Posted: 7/11/2008 1:56:38 AM
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the various commercials for medication for women where they're only in towels then the announcer asks them to raise their hands... And a year or two ago they wrote on women's stomaches to sell another medication-it seems they tend to target women... Talk about the eww! factor And the milk that's supposed to be so good people cry when they spill it. I *really* don't like the commercial where a ditzy lady sprays tear gas into a car salesman's eyes and thinks he's happy when he's in pain....Talk about dumb! And yes some of the local commercials are bad too....Car dealers, appliance discounters and furniture stores, among others...I usually like animal commercials and the talking gnome, probably because I have seen lots worse....The Quaker statue handing out snack bars and the BK masked guy are definitely odd though...I'm sure there are others, these are the ones that come to mind now...

Do women prefer men with long hair or short?
Posted: 7/11/2008 1:27:50 AM
Well, I'm an artsy type, and I tend to prefer long hair on men. I even found some stock photos online I added to my PC of Polynesian men with long hair as well as Naveen Andrews, a British actor of East Indian heritage, with long dark wavy hair.....Yeah, guess I'm a sucker for long hair....I like Andre' Agasse with long hair better than his current very short style....I have dated men with short to medium length hair, but the one I never dated-he was a neighbor, had long hair for a while, and now its been short a while-for job reasons. He's still handsome, but he was a lot sexier when he had longer hair....{it is wavy/curly, and black-he's an attractive Hispanic man.} One of the men I met from POF has medium long hair, and he looks good that way, I can't see him with short hair, he's a musician, and it just looks good on him.
The thing I don't get is rock musicians with short hair and suits, hope its just a trend!:)

Whats your Sign?

I know this is supposed to be humor, but its mean spirited and bitter. Sounds like someone having a bad time dating or something like that...It ticks me off, I've seen this on other sites. I am a Libra and I'm both shy and *not* a tramp....I haven't even had a date since last year....I have friends in several different signs and they are not what this mean spirited piece says they are...Oh well, guess I'll have to ignore mean folks, sure do wonder what sign the original writer is/was, so I could avoid him....
