Profile help.. For my dad
Posted: 6/2/2008 4:10:47 PM
Thank you Lady Mara...

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I lost my job cause my job suddenly went bilingual (I was there for over 2yrs), then I was in a car accident 2 weeks ago, so that was the only thing on my mind, cause I got nailed by chasers... then my car was written off... then I had to "pretend I was angry at my ins, so the chasers would believe my story so they would release my car to the car auction people.... Lying is not my thing, but I guess I did a good enough job, cause they released my car... I bought it back for 275.00 & its at the body shop getting a new rear bumper, paint job, & having the frame straighted back out... All that BS because some stupid chick didn't notice that all the cars on the 401 was slowing down & had come to a stop... so she used my car as a break..

For the most part I'm ok. I di dget hurt but its not perm damage, its all muscle damage. It'll take a couple months for it to get better.. I thought I was ok last weekend, until I work up sunday... I was a little sore, then I woke up today & had a hard time getting up... I was walking funny all over the office.. again... Oh well... nothing I can't handle

& of course dad was there to help. His phone bill was 60.00 extra cause he called me so many times during the day. I seriously don't know where I'd be without him

~peiprincess~:

With the work (more so help) my dad does, "he's" the one who needs to be trusted, not so much the other way around. My dad is a smart & wise man (I only know this cause he's teaching that to me all the time). He's far too smart to get scammed (I always go to him to consult things). He loves to help, but he knows where to draw the line, & he knows when someone is trying to use him.

But as a "just in case", I have been teaching dad that some people online are scammers & will try to use emotions to scam him. I personally have met a lot of people off POF, & WOW, is all I can say to many of them lol Some of these dudes wanted to move in, borrow my car, borrow my things, & so on... I pretty much laughed & showed them the doors (the front door & my fav.. the 9 story fall top your death door hahahaha).

My dad is pretty darn good at educating himself. When I moved in with him at 15yrs old, he bought books & did a lot of research on how to be the best single parent & how to deal with a teenage daughter, etc, etc, etc... To be honest, he was a great mother too!!! Mom taught me squat except on how to hate her & myself (many long stories there).

Dad asked a bunch of ladies (ranging from their mid 20's to people his age, so he could take that info & go shopping) at work on the best razer for a young female, as I didn't know & I had no female friends to ask either. Dad bought me what I needed (electric as I was scared of the bladed ones). I was far too shy to buy my "women" items, so when he was shopping I would go with him, point & run away totally embarrassed to be in that isle. When I hit 16 & needed errrrr "women" medication, he always bought that for me too. He wanted me to be safe & healthy, Not getting sick cause I'm super shy... As the years went by I slowly came out of my shell & do all those things on my own. When I visit him on the island, he still asks if I need him to buy me any embarrassing "women" products.. hehehe He's the best :)

I'm really hoping I can make it out to the island this summer while my car gets fixed (a week). I love being pampered, & working for dad... ok not so much on the working part, but it is fun driving the riding lawnmower in random patterns in the fields at the cottages.. well until dad yells at me for it & tells me I better do it right before his brother shows up & hangs me for ruining his grass hahaha I might be 25, but I'm still a kid at heart & still need to be scolded by dad sometimes

I really need to stop writing long posts :P

Profile help.. For my dad
Posted: 4/24/2008 8:47:24 PM
oh & its lower case pei.. my bad...

He hasn't had time to work on his profile yet. I'm going to bug him on the weekend. Unless you guys get more snow, then he'll be too busy shoveling & then relaxing after shoveling. He does handy work around the Condo, as he didn't like everything being 1/2 Arsed, which resulted in an old man slipping & falling (he had to go to the hospital)... Dad cares for a lot of the older people in the building, as hes still a fit man. He'll even babysit someone spouse so they can go on a little holiday, as the spouse cannot leave home due to health & age. He even checks up on the old & frail on a daily bases to make sure they are ok & alive. One man he helps out all the time. He helps with laundry, washes his car, helps clean the house, & when hes in the hospital, dad brings him a newspaper everyday. Dad even went to the hospital to see him on xmas, & he called the mans kids to give regular bases.... Everyone has my dad's number, so when one of the kids cannot get a hold of their parent (most live off the island), they call dad to check on them.

For non emergency work (like opening a cottage, cleaning, repairing, or building something), he charges a tiny fee/hr... If its an emergency, like a toilet over flowing, he fixes it disinfects the whole bathroom for free. He does this cause most older people cannot afford many of todays services, so they let things go, & thats how people get hurt or ill! He loves to surprise friends too.. Last xmas he went into his friends condo & he put up & decorated her xmas tree, as he knows she had a really hard time doing it herself the past couple yrs, & he got wind she wasn't setting one up that year... Then he went back while she was out & put it away for her.

All that is just more reasons why I love & respect my dad so much! I was raised that way too.. I'm almost a clone of him, in female form of course hahaha He helps people who need help, & I help animals who need help.. I also help people too, but thats rare, as I'm not very trusting, but any animal is welcomed into my home, until its well, then its gets a new loving home. Unless I can keep it. Tonight I rehomed the Ball Python I had. I would have LOVED to keep him, he was sooo sweet. But I couldn't afford to keep him long term, so sadly he had to go. His new owner is cool, & she just loves him to pieces hehe My Tarantula will be happy to be beside my computer again hehe

wow, I typed a lot.. opps

Profile help.. For my dad
Posted: 4/21/2008 8:08:34 PM
First off hello PEI, I miss chatting in here (I found a loving man, thats why I haven't been around)!

Dad(59yrs old) told me he is interested in dating, so I set him up with a POF account last night. I went over it with him this evening & everything looks good except for the "About Me" section. I wrote a little about him from my point of view when I created the account, & he wants to keep it. However I don't think its really appropriate, even though it shows him as the man I see him as.

Here is what I wrote:
======
I just set this account up for my dad. Once I have it setup, he'll take over.

I love dad as hes the best person on earth *hugs*. He's not your typical man, he is 100% unique with nothing but good qualities!

If you want someone who is trustworthy, & will be there for you, thats my dad!

Need some help cleaning, cooking, or a friend to go shopping with? Thats my dad!

Want someone to party hard with & get drunk often? Thats NOT my dad.
======

Its all true but I still don't think its appropriate for a dating site. So if I could get others opinions that would be great.

If ypur name aint on the birth certificate do you have to pay child support?
Posted: 1/8/2008 9:41:35 AM
I remember when my folks split & dad had to pay child support. My dad got a raw deal.. Not only did he take many of the bills with him (his choice, so it would help her out), but he had to pay child support when I was living with him!!! They just changed the wording to Spousal support, but it was the same amount (I moved in with him a yr after the child support started).. it was money going to my mom & I had less food to eat... My sister had all kinds of things, as mom bought her everything (JUNK)... I ended up stay with my friend & her family most of the time as they knew my dad was counting pennies trying to keep a roof over my head & food on the table. So keeping me for weekends &weeks at a time, helped him to buy things we needed.. Like repairing the truck so he could get to work.

There are flaws in the system & its not right.

When I went to college, dad told me I was on my own, as he had to start taking care of the loans & bills that were caused.. I worked my butt off to stay in school, which also meant missing classes so I could stay in school.. Mom still got the money from dad & I saw jack like always.

So yes I think the father should have some say in where the money goes. Because some mothers become stupid bitter & greedy & the kid suffers in the end..

The 250.00 dad was paying for a 2ed child really would have come in handy to buy me clothing & food when I was living with him. But no.. I had to get a job to buy things I needed, like school supplies. Working as a young teen is good exp. but it shouldn't be for survival.. thats not right. Or at least thats my opinion on it.

My sister is 22 still in college, & dad still has to pay child support for her. She hasn't lived at home for 4yrs & she works enough to support herself & still go to school.

So for the people that say the law knows best... How was it best in my case?

Telemarketers with a new twist!!!
Posted: 12/17/2007 11:06:03 PM
Rogers either has their own telemarketers, or they sell the numbers to them.. .Either way I'm NOT impressed with Rogers!!! Last week I got a call from a 1800 number claiming to be rogers. They kept asking for my dad. I said its my account, how can I help you.. No I'm not my dad.. No I cannot pass you to him as he lives 2000kms away. What do you mean you'll call back at a later time when hes home...

I was quite confused, so I MSN'ed dad & told him. He called Rogers & they said it wasn't them, my account it peachy. Any who, I googled the number. Turns out there are a lot of people complaining about that number!!

I wanted to have fun with this, since it seemed I was going to get MANY more calls from them (according to complains on the net)... I saved the 1800 number & named it telemarketer.

The next day my cell rang while I was at work. It said telemarketer was calling.. SWEET!! I Answered saying, Hello Telemarketer, what do you want today because I don't care & I hate you... The person on the other line was doing everything they could not to bust a gut.. they barely got out, sorry bye.. LOL My co-workers were busting a gut & asked if I had fun.. D'uh lol

Its been 5 days & they haven't called back, WOOT!!

Arranging a date and still active on POF...is this a problem?
Posted: 11/19/2007 12:17:45 PM
I agree pretty much with everyone else. I've been dating Jordan for over a week(dated him before, but had to break it off.. long story, he did nothing wrong & neither did I) & I still go on here. He knows I'm just reading the forums, or chatting with friends. I'm very trusting & have strict morals. So he doesn't care that I'm on here, or that I hang out with my guy friends, or even crash at one of my guy friends places, cause he knows I wont touch them, & they wont touch me..

Its this kind of trust that builds a great relationship :)

Cruising for Trouble
Posted: 11/19/2007 12:03:52 PM
I refuse to live in that kind of fear.. Its the stupidest thing ever.. Back home there was so many rapes, murders, assaults, that it had the highest crime rate/ratio in Canada. I knew all the hot spots & I STILL went there when I had to.. I just made sure I was going there safe & never alone/without one of the dogs.

I've lived in Malton right in the hot spot & was just fine.. I had to walk through gangs all the time. Being polite & friendly was the key. I've even lived in Rexdale.. Samething..

I've never been harmed by a stranger (key word there) & I keep on going. If I'm meeting someone new, I give my friends their info, & where we're going. Then they send me a txt message to see if I'm still alive.

So being scared to go on a cruise is silly.. You might want to keep FAR FAR FAR away from the roads, as I'm sure they have an even higher % of something bad happening on/near them.

Death of your child
Posted: 11/19/2007 9:35:30 AM
I have never lost, but I have heard what my friends mother has gone through when her son (my first friend), died at age 21 to Cancer. They stopped counting at 6, as there was already no hope, so they left him be. His mother made a memorial bookcase sort of thing for him. He was cremated, so she would always be with his family (more so him mom, she quit her job to care for him, as he couldn't do anything, not even walk)...

Shes now on facebook. I have no spoken to her since his passing as I was banned from everything (she was just over stressed & took it out on me & others.. so I backed off).

Its been many years & she found me on Facebook. I dislike the women (always have), but for her sake, I talk to her about Peter. She sends me photos of him & tell me stories about him.

She finds peace in talking to me about him, so I keep talking :) I miss him to pieces, so I can only imagine how a parent feels :(

If you haven't already try making a scrap book about her, or make a little memorial spot for her.

As I said I never had lost a child, nor have I ever had one. But to me my old dog was just the same. I loved him to pieces. When he was murdered it took me yrs to just get kinda over it... I made a spot in my bachelor dedicated to just him & it makes me happy seeing it everyday. People ask about it, & then its hard getting me to stop talking about it.. which makes me feel sooooo much better inside :)

So that sort of thing really does help the heart heal

How much does a woman's financial situation mean to you?
Posted: 10/28/2007 10:54:05 PM
People run from me, as I was forced into bankruptcy a few months ago, because of all the bills my ex left me. I tried to pay the bills, but when just 1 bill reached more then what I made in a month, it was a hopeless battle. I lost almost everything, including my health. So I got the only help I could find. Bankruptcy.

Thats why I dissapeard from the forums, as I was an active member. But once you know that bankruptcy is the only answer you have no reason to try to date as its not fair to the other person. & how do you explain to someone, I'm sorry you cannot come over as I have been homeless for 2 months & 90% of the things I own were stolen? My work friends couldn't grasp it, so I'm sure it would have been harder on a stranger.

But after all that excitement (not fun might I add lol) I've still come out on top (I always will, I'm a fighter). I live on my own, I own a car, love my job (had it for 2yrs), I'm educated, have loving friends that were by my side, so I'm doing alright...

Just need a guy who can understand I didn't take the lazy way out. They never let me explain how hard I tried to avoid it. They just call me lazy.

Oh well, been pretty much single for 2yrs, a little longer isn't gonna kill me

What are the lamest excuses someone has used not to date you
Posted: 10/28/2007 10:20:02 PM
For me:
"You act like a guy"

So what part of I'm a Tomboy didn't you understand?

Thats what pretty much all guys tell me. Or they say nothing & vanish into thin air

Oh well.. I gave up caring long ago. If someone happens to like me for who I am for once, I'll wait until that day. I'm in no real hurry, as I've pretty much have been single for 2yrs, so I can wait a little longer :)

How to when you're on top....
Posted: 10/28/2007 3:57:20 PM
I don't think size has too much to do with it. I'm 5'2 & my ex grew to over 300lb (& at one point I was 200lb) & I managed just fine. I've also been with a living toothpick & that was fine too.. Use your feet to help you move if hes a larger man (use them to hold onto his outter legs, or if your tall enough, put your ontop of his.. hope that made sence lol). Also have your weight on your hands. Do not lay chest to chest with no weight on you hands, thats crazy hard to do if you just learning how to get the movements right. I find the best places for your hands to be is either on his chest near his shoulders (arms out straight), or on the bed, or on the pillow his head is laying on. The feet help a LOT if your short like me :)

If this guy realy likes/loves you, he'll help you get it right :) Even as him to grab your butt cheaks & lend you a little hand to get the feel of the movement you need to do.

Best of luck :)

Prisoner in one's own home
Posted: 7/25/2007 10:09:26 AM
portuguese_mommie, I've lived in a rough town growing up. Murders, rapes, hard drugs (coke), mafia, & bike gangs... We were only 9000 people in this town too...

Do I look dead?? hehe nope, not at all... I behaved & was usually left alone.

Now I live in Malton on Goreway.. thats an interesting area!! Last year there was 6 murder right behind my complex & the unit I'm staying in right now.. a guy crawled to the door looking for help, but no one was home, so when the home owners came back, they found his bloody body on their door step... That guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time.. the other 5 or so were all gang members, so theres that "Connection"...

I don't live in fear, I'm smart. I stay off the path at night... If I want to go to a friends place (same complex), they usualy walk to my place & we walk together to their place (my friends are guys, so they have little to worry about).. Or I stay on the phone with them for the whole walk... I'm not scared, just being smart :)

Living in fear is stupid. One reason I don't have a tv.. News is twisted to put people into fear.. I'll read fark where I can get news & get a good laugh at the same time.

New to Ontario. Is everyone out here Cold ??
Posted: 7/25/2007 9:33:17 AM
The Queen St area has almost everything! Our club is there, lots of bars, the comic store & so many clothing stores!! There is something for everyone there.. Pretty pink clothing & that awesome Goth store! oh & the Black Market hehe + the CN tower isn't far, we walk around it all the time.

My dad doesn't understand why I live in TO, but there is just so much stuff to do & so many different people... I grew up in a small town & spent a lot of time in a village of 500 people (mostly farmers & old people), so I didn't get to see much of anything. Now I'm in heaven, as I get the cool city things & I can still dissapear into the forest at the cottage (3hr up north) to get back in touch with my country side

I haven't had too many problems when I go downtown TO & walk around. I'm usually with my guy friends & we have ran into a lot of people to talk to. We meet most of them in the subway or on Queen st. We can be loud, hyper & scary looking, but we are very friendly (not a mean bone in any of our bodies). Once we were dressed in goth for a party & a lady about my age from Vancouver was lost in the subway. All 4 of us offered her help & she was great to talk to. We all hopped onto the subway together & we made sure she got off at the right place & pointed to where she needed to go to catch the other subway.

So we're not all that bad, even us scary looking ones :)

Big Sister in Ontario
Posted: 7/25/2007 8:43:17 AM
Its wonderful that you want to be a big sister!!

I ran into a nasty rut, suddenly became homeless & had 90% of my thing stolen from my roommates (I'm still fighting for my things & loosing).. It was a Big Brother & Sister that took me in. I met them in Jan 2007 as my now ex roommates had once lived with them when they were homeless & had drug issues.

Almost all the people I hang out with now have lived there. They were all troubled teenes & run aways. They are now really awesome people!! We are also one giant family now, so non of us feel like we have no family...my family live really far away & I was alone in the GTA, the other boys (its mostly boys that have lived there) don't have families, or have bad families.

I'm moving into my own Bachelor apt. on aug 1st!! woohoo!

You have no idea how much big brothers & big sisters change/help people in need.

Women should just be themselves.....correct?
Posted: 7/20/2007 8:45:17 PM
OP great post!

I grew up as a tomboy & still am. But I have realized that guys don't want a tomboy as a girlfriend... Guys seem to love me as a friend, as 90% my friends are guys, but getting a guy to look at me as more then a friend just doesn't happen... SO I dyed my hair red. I've gotten lots of good comments about it bringing out my blue eyes... Then I let my hair grow longer, more commente.. Its almost at my shoulder, this is the longest in nearly 6yrs... Tomorrow I'm getting my eye brows tweezed I know I'll hear a lot about this one..

Being myself has gotten me nowhere. My 1 female friend told me that as long as I don't change my personality, then a little "girly girly" change isn't too bad... sigh... Its so true its sad...

I need better speakers, as I blew my POS speakers already & now all I hear is snapping & crackling along with music... its pretty bad & I cannot live with that lol...
I have a budget of 500.00 for this upgrade, but would rather not spend that much.. its just all my fun car $$.

Any help in picking speakers that can handle base would be appreciated. I'm not in the mood to blow more speakers, I need my music :P & NO I'm not one of those turds that zoom around in the middle of the night waking everyone up... I take to the 401 or the 407, so I don't bother anyone while I'm off on a relaxing drive, other wise I keep the sound down.

Also I want to give the system its own power supply, as my car isn't too happy with it leaching off its battery.. having headlights that dim to the beat is funny yet annoying lol

I was planning on buying my car a new battery & putting its current battery in the trunk. I want to attach a trickle charger to it, so while its not in use it can be recharged for its next use.

My ex did this for his ham radios & it worked great. I'm just not sure if it'll be enough for a sound system as it draws far more power then a couple ham radios.

I'm also hoping this is something I can do on my own. I helped my ex install his ham radio stuff in his car, & I'm not retarded in this stuff lol

I just know very little about speakers & whats best/needed. I do have access to a garage & all its tools, so I'm set there.

Thanks in advance everyone! & happy V-day to everyone!!!

Was I wrong? What would you do?
Posted: 2/10/2007 7:54:38 PM
I would have done the same thing as I also live in a not so nice area. I would never let any stranger into my home. If anyone ever tried then they would have a 170lb Rottweiler to deal with

~ My boyfriend has a girlfriend! ~
Posted: 1/30/2007 10:28:57 AM
about 90% of my friends are guys. My ex had a hard time dealing with that. I tried & tried to explain to him that I'm not into foo foo things that most females do, so they are boring. I like autos, camping, fishing, guns, big dogs, playing sports (with friends only)... + I was raised a tomboy

I've had some of my guy friends for 20yrs now, & never saw them as anything but a friend. Stupid ex He tried to accuse me of cheating on him with my friends.. HA no way in heck (no offence to my friends), but no...

Anyone ever try "In Charge Debt Solutions?
Posted: 1/30/2007 9:56:57 AM
http://www.inchargecanada.ca/

If anyone has any info on this company that would be great! or if they recommend another company you have had good exp. with (as in the company not screwing things up, like computer errors, lost paper work, can never get a hold of them, that type of stuff)...

I already tried Shield, but they never pick up their phone, so that company is an auto no.

Thanks for the advice in advance

Happy New Years!
Posted: 12/31/2006 11:13:06 PM
Just got back from the dublin irish pub with my sister.. had a great time there.. the live band was pretty good... cost of drinks was a lot cheaper then in Ontario.. Mind you the drunks are odder out here... one dude gave my sister 20.00 for no reason... quite strange... then he wanted to buy my new years necklace for 5.00.. I put it on him & gave him a pat on the chest.. the stupid thing wasn't worth 5.00 so I refused to take it.. silly drunk.. cute, but dumb :P

We just stopped at home for pizza bagles & a piddle... back to the street W00T!! Love this island, except nothing is open 24/7 here, that sucks, as I need a Timmies.

The First Born Syndrome ...
Posted: 12/31/2006 2:43:34 PM
I'm 24 & my sister is 21.

Burning house...
My mom would pick my sister over me hands down, as my sister is her FAV by far.

My dad would pick my sister only because he knows I can take care of myself & my sister cannot. My dad has always spoiled me & treated me as his fav. but never when my sister was around, as he always tried to be fair to both of us.

Babysitting - what to charge?
Posted: 12/29/2006 2:24:46 PM
I never really babysat anyone on a regular bases. I only did emergency work for friends or poor neighbours.

But I think for new years 10.00/hr for 1 kid, & an extra 2.00/hr / additional kid is a good price. But if you know the parents aren't wealthy & don't get out often, give them a special deal, as it'll mean so much to them.

I once babysat 3 kids, 1 puppy for 15 hours & got $20.00 & a can of Pepsi. The mother was poorer then dirt (she did work hard for her kids & was a good mother). She won tickets to a Shina Twain concert in Ottawa & I knew she could never afford a sitter, so I offered. THe next day was my first day of high school & 20.00 would have been great to start with.

I babysit my friends 3yr old often & never get paid.

Everyday after high school I would pick up my neighbours 13yr old & bring her to my place. her folks had a nasty divorce (father was cheating, dealing & doing crack), & he would come to the house & bang on the doors scaring his daughtor. I never charged any money as I didn't have to do anything to care for the kid. I just gave her a safe place to hang out. Her mother paid me at the end of the week, by giving me money to take the 2 of us to the movies & able to buy a snack. When they moved to a new place, everyweekend I could rent a movie & was given some pop. To this day the kid still loves me dearly, for giving her a safe place to hang out. Kinda like a big sister thing. She also has returned the favor & babysites poor kids. She turned out great :D

medical marijuana users, should we be exempt from the drug user designation on here?
Posted: 12/29/2006 1:36:32 PM
I agree with the others, say no, but explain it in your profile or when the subject comes up.

My friend uses pot to help her with anger issues. It keeps her calm & relaxed so she can be a normal human being, without horrible side effects that most medication causes(it messed my mother up BAD & my sister got off it as it was starting to effect her). Since shes been using it 3 times a day, shes quite pleasent to be around & is a much happier person all day long.

Aslong as pot isn't abused, I personally have little issues with it.

Mice!
Posted: 12/27/2006 10:16:27 AM
don't use cheese, jam works better.

On the Snap Traps... Where your suppose to put the bait, put it under that thingy close to the hinge. That forces the mouse to push the leaver UP to get to the bait... So it works every time.

I like to travel often & I love it. I go to PEI once a year, & I go else where a couple times a month for the weekend... Mostly the Ottawa area. Last year I use to go to NY state every weekend with my ex & his brother when we lived in Ottawa.

Get any good deals?
Posted: 12/26/2006 8:38:26 PM
The stores aren't allowed to be open on boxing day here, so I've been sitting on my butt all day doing very little lol I went for a walk, but it started to rain wet snow & hail. So the walk ended quickly.

PS. I'm in PEI for the holidays.

He'll yell ewwww & rush off hehehe (he's gay)
