Chili vs. Goulash
Posted:
5/6/2008 12:22:18 PM
IMHO...they are not the same thing at all...lots of recipes on the net of course but here's one of each that are really good :)
Party Chili Recipe
If you are making chili for a large crowd, this chili recipe serves 16 guests.
• Olive oil
• 4 medium onions, chopped
• 2 medium green peppers, chopped
• 8 pounds ground beef
• 1 6 oz. can tomato paste
• 2 large cans(1 lb-13oz) cans stewed tomatoes
• 2 1lb cans tomato sauce
• 1 7oz. can chili salsa
• 6 cloves garlic, minced
• chili powder to taste
• 1 jalapeno pepper (seeded, de-veined and chopped)
• 2 tablespoons salt
• 1 tablespoon oregano
• 2 teaspoons garlic powder
• 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
Directions
Brown meat in large skillet and drain. Heat oil in a very large pot over medium heat. Saute onions, green peppers, and garlic until softened. Add meat, tomato paste, stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce. Stir in garlic powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper, oregano, chile salsa, and jalapeno. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3 hours, stirring every 15 minutes or so. Season to taste with salt and pepper halfway through cooking time.
Serve with plain white rice.
*************************************************************
Hungarian Goulash
2 pounds beef chuck
1 teaspoon salt
2 onions, white or yellow
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons sweet paprika
2 bay leaves
1 Qt. water
4 peeled and diced potatoes
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
***Egg dumpling batter:***
1 egg
6 tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
Cut beef into 1 inch squares, add 1/2 tsp. salt. Chop onions and brown in shortening, add beef and paprika. Let beef simmer in its own juice along with salt and paprika for 1 hr. on low heat. Add bay leaves, water, diced potatoes, black pepper, and remaining salt. Cover and simmer until potatoes are done and meat is tender.
Prepare egg dumpling batter:
Add flour to unbeaten egg and salt. Mix well. Let stand for 1/2 hour for flour to mellow. Drop by teaspoonful into Goulash. Cover and simmer 5 minutes after dumplings rise to surface. Serve hot with dollops of sour cream.

how old is too old?
Posted:

I believe that people should think about how long they're going to be around for their child and how active they will be in the child's life.
It's fine to say that a man can father a child @ the age of 70+ but why would he want to? He may not even live to see his child's tenth birthday. Why would you want to do that to a child? Just my 2 cents worth :)

I still feel like I'm 25...enjoy life...go dancing all the time.

The Secret
Posted:

I'm taking my time with it, just now starting to put together the things I'm going to "wish" for. It's a little scary, afraid to ask for too much...and at the same time afraid to ask for too little.
I hear you. Many of us have had upbringings where is it wrong to ask for anything. This is a whole new concept for some. Many on here say that it's a waste of money to purchase this book/dvd. Perhaps for some it would be, however, there are many that it would help tremendously. Also, it's always good to be reminded...it's much too easy to go back to old ways with old tapes playing in our heads.
I'm grateful to have this venue to discuss our thoughts on the subject none the less.
Thank you all!

I'm 1/3 of the way through the book and will be watching the movie this weekend.
Also, just listened to lesson 1 & 2 of 8 in The Masters of The Secret series. Powerful and wise philosphy. The Secret is a tool for all to use to better their lives and the lives of people they come in contact with. Seems the author has combined piece parts from other educational facilities, etc and put the puzzle together in one amazing package that is easy to read, watch, listen and understand.

Birth order in a relationship
Posted:

In my opinion, birth order definitely contributes to your personality/character but then so does upbringing, culture, religion, astrological sign, however I don't believe that it has all that much to do with how your relationships turn out...communication or lack of is responsible for that.

"We were always holding hands, laughing our asses off with each other's comments, when standing in line ups she would be leaning against me and I'd give her a kiss on the top of the head... things like that happen naturally when two people feel they were meant to be together.... in my opinion."
I have to agree with this one whole heartedly.....When two people are really into each other they just want to flirt and touch...makes me all warm just thinking about it...hhmm

It's still the best place around for the more mature crowd that enjoys dancing.
My friends and I always have a great time there.
As far as the "meat market" feel that some have eluded to....well I'd say any place that has singles can be called a meat market....even the online dating sites have that feel to me.
Better to think of these things/places as a "meet" market....lol

Over 40 and no fish!
Posted:

It seems to run hot and cold for me. Some weeks lots of emails, other weeks nothing. I'm 52. I have met a few very nice men from this site, but obviously no catch as yet. I think I'm just a bit too picky maybe...or a tad afraid. I'm enjoying my freedom too....dancing every weekend...and that seems to turn alot of men my age off. They keep referring to the dance clubs as pick up places....sounds like a put down to me....which I don't like of course, so I stop communications with them. I'm not 100% sure what the problem is. I'm very honest, down to earth and really want a meaningful relationship but I don't want to end up with a homebody. Oh man....I just don't really know!!!

is it harder to date as we get older?
Posted:
11/19/2006 6:43:38 PM
I think as we age and hopefully mature we certainly know what we don't want and perhaps what we do want. We become very picky. This can be good or bad. Some set their sights too high. Some decide that living alone is not so bad and will not settle for less than what they want. Some just want to play for as long as they can. It's difficult for sure.

How do you feel about interacial dating?

I feel very comfortable with interacial dating. It shows that more and more people are willing to open themselves up to new experiences in life. We all come from a different place/time no matter where we are born and to what parents. We are all children of the universe and to love one another should be our ultimate goal. Prejudices,of one form or another do exist in all of us because we are afraid of the unknown.
I have dated interacially and would do so again.
My children are white, however...their father is of Irish decent and I am Italian...is that not a mix??? I also have a grandson who is half Jamiacan.
Colour of skin is the least of our worries people.............if he/she is a decent human being and treats you with respect and your hearts call out to each other what is the problem?
Ciao, T

Temptation is everywhere...for all of us.
If you are not happy in your relationship...fix it or get out before you sleep around.
Cheaters cannot and should not be trusted ....ever.
I would never take back a cheater....nor would I ever speak to them again....they would be written off the show for sure!!
