Her Night Silently she shuddered, though a smile still lit her face Fear creeping over her behind her mask of grace A thin shroud of goose pimples covered her pale skin The cold of night rose deeper, her terror rose within The witching hour approaching, time to face the night Battle of the legions rose, thus began her daily plight She slipped away so gracefully bidding her good-byes A thousand demons starving for the terror in her eyes She started to undress, hoards of eyes upon her skin Waiting to consume her with their voracious, lustful grin The night man was calling; stirring up his potion Soon she would be theirs, devoid of choice, thought or notion She laid upon her pillow, it was time to rest her head The evil creeping closer, to destroy her pristine bed Satin and lace cooled her skin, false promises of rest Most certainly they'd come tonight, though surely she'd contest Her eyes growing heavy, oh that she'd never sleep The home of her nightmares, where the at the least, she'd weep Just an hour of peaceful sleep, oh please God make it so They feed and feast upon my soul, please God make them go Her hands tied, her lips sealed, so very lost in miles of chains Hackling in their frenzy while devouring her remains Four more hours, three more hours, two more hours, one The faithful sun now back again, for now the feast was done A small smile fought to light her face, through the waning fear Glorious day now back again, as she wiped her final tear So many hours to bask in love, in hope, in joy, in sun The night may come religiously, but for now, the torture was done Until tonight....

numb numb, numb, i am numb, i cannot think, i'm numb finally i fell enough to land here where i've come i cannot feel, i cannot hurt, i cannot cry today i think i'm lost, lost in thoughts, thoughts that swim away foggy blankets shield the pain, shield the hurt, the tears sweet surrender close my mind from shadows and from fears i think i'll sleep a little while, lie here in my gray i think i'll drift on aimlessly, forgetting this decay don't wake me up, don't shake me up, leave me in this place let me drift, let me sleep, let me float without a trace i promise i won't stay for long as i spiral down so sweet just enough to ease my mind - a bleak, dismal retreat i'll see you later, but not today, i've now left for the gate shrouding mist of nothingness, calling me to fate see you later, see you soon, see you not at all don't even think to look for me, when i'm back, i'll call bye-bye...

Thank you for your kind words. I sent this particular piece that the work was about. I have known him for quite a while and have seen him break hearts, his own included. It is really a tragedy for he really is not a jerk, but just can't let his heart attach without living with his own demons. I thank you for the compliment - I have felt the work improving a lot lately too. I will probably finish another piece later as I have several "in the works"

Feeding Frenzy This dry, arid place of desolation, Shattered, I lie broken on the ground This ruinous place of no salvation Defeat, hatred and anguish all abound Like a statue, numb to my surroundings I sit here void of any normal thought My head quakes me, relentless in its pounding I wonder what it is for which I fought I see their jagged daggers mark their target Their aim straight and true towards my soul Each seeking the destruction of my spirit Dark lusting mouths; I have become their goal Wielding torment, pursuing my destruction Each tear of mine a victory that they cheer They huddle 'round; I'm helpless to defend I'm swimming in the nightmare of my fear. Only on my spirit do they frenzy I open up my mouth and praise my God They shriek in their hatred for His glory Despite the pain I'm breaking their facade I fill my heart with memories of His beauty I begin to pray despite this moment's truth The demons all around me now are spewing Their loathsome ways so callow and uncouth I feel the chains of bondage start to loosen I feel the darkness losing to the light I wonder why I didn't cry out sooner Why I took so long to let Him fight this fight I curl up exhausted from this nightmare Peace ebbs its way into my dreary soul I look to the heavens and I'm thankful My loving God to you do I extol

Pandora's Box Inside my hand lies a beautiful gift It was given to me by my Father He said "my child - this gift is yours Treasure it like no other" I drink in the beauty of this beautiful box Adorned with diamonds and gold The finest artisans showing their best Of beauty, now mine to behold I long for this gift, I am anxious to see What is within these walls of such grace I anticipate madly, holding my breath Expectant joy lighting my face Would it be a necklace of brilliant rare jewels, Or a ring for my dainty finger Fine garments of silk to drape over my skin Or riches to enjoy as I linger "But wait," says my Father, "there is only one thing. This box, you may never uncover. Until the day that I say it's alright What it contains is not yours to discover I grit in frustration for such beauty I see I can imagine the mystery inside Yet I am solemnly sworn to not open the lid I promised Him when I lied My determined face, frosty and aloof I imagine being dazzled with jewels My Father had left me alone with my box Had He always been such a fool? Heinous Worm In the recesses of Heaven There lived a rankled worm He was useless, he was no one An infectious, puss-filled worm He slithered on his belly To plead and beg his plight He wrought strife, wrath, fear and pain, Corruption his greatest delight His ominous laugh filled the mire His mind plotting hatred for all He gathered other tainted souls False promises of glory, his call He tempted many with twisted lust Violence and power, his fame He handed out riches, reaped in blood Yet many revered his name He raised his arm in his fury cry His minions drooling their hunger Promises of riches, pledges of power Vows to ever live younger This festered lot, they sang his name In their haunting, off-key notes Until the first was thrown to the abyss While he soundlessly slit their throats Still recruiting the blind, this rotted worm He whispers covenants of benediction In the end, these hell-bound souls Find themselves raped with affliction A sinister smile spreads over his face One more soul to be bound They turn away from the light of love They turn where they'll never be found In the recesses of Heaven This putrid maggot banned forever His corruption and his loathing Ill testimony to those who endeavor

A poem for fun after my daughter told me that the world is all about me in one of our heated moments (don't worry Nane - I love you and this was written just because I liked the idea of it). Have fun reading. All About Me When I look around, what do I see? That the world is really.. all about me. The stars were hung "just so" for my pleasure Diamonds and jewels all for my treasure Look up to the heavens at the adoring sun, There to bronze my skin while I'm having fun The trees bear their fruit for my sheer delight Cows smile as I pass them.. their dairy, my right I smile at the fragrance of a delicate rose I savour the perfume with my perky, cute nose I have children; they love me, they adore me, they serve Whatever I ask them they know I deserve Looks of adoration follow my gate Men clamor to get near me.. forever they'd wait Its so very hard to keep up with my greatness The world waits for me - they don't mind my lateness Adoring fans want a glance from my captivating eyes When I throw them a look, I see their elated surprise I know what you're thinking.. you wish you were me But as much as you try.. only I can be ME

My Rampart - reworked - had to make it rhyme Well.. I loved the words I wrote in the original.. but I am one that loves rhyming in my poetry.. so I rewrote it.. I like it better but it changes the message slightly..
