Don't forget to check out the Stone Crock Restaurant! Its right in the heart of the village shops on King Street! Great food!
[/QUOTE]

That's probably not the first thing I'd be checking out.

(Okay, don't want to get in trouble. I'd go for the baseball. I feel like playing in a rec league this summer for the first time in ages.)

roger clemens...
Posted: 2/19/2008 9:51:32 AM
Nobody has even mentioned the statistical evidence yet either. Did anyone notice the way that Roger Clemens went from being a washed up pitcher with the Boston Red Sox to a back to back Cy Young award winner with the Toronto Blue Jays? He pitched two of the finest seasons of his career in Toronto - right around the time he met McName.

Barry Bonds experienced a similar statistical spike after he began taking roids in the early 2000's. He grew so much that his head actually got larger (not just his ego). That was no accident. He saw McGwire break the home run record on steroids and he figured he'd do the same.

Both of guys are guilty. The trouble baseball has is that there were no rules against it at the time. MLB turned a blind eye to it. There were rules against betting on baseball, but as far as roids went it was anything goes.

Will Clemens be the next Pete Rose?

ie: Denied access to the Hall of Fame until he admits to using steroids?

In Their Primes...Ali Vs Tyson..Winner?
Posted: 2/16/2008 7:07:41 AM
Based on Tyson's poor performances against guys that would box him (Holyfield for example), you'd have to think Tyson would never lay a glove on Ali. Tyson spent an entire career fighting nobodies. When he did fight real opposition (Lewis for example), he lost badly.

I think Tyson would get so frustrated that he'd have to bite Ali's ear off by the fourth round!

Should it be mandatory for NHL players to wear neck protectors??
Posted: 2/16/2008 7:04:25 AM
I saw a similar incident involving a goaltender. A player got hauled down on a breakaway, his skate came up, and slit the goalie's throat.

I don't think you can institute neck guards for players based on one freak accident. I understand why goalies have them though.

Steroids in Baseball
Posted: 2/16/2008 6:59:42 AM
I think it's safe to say that the majority of baseball players were taking *something* to get big - especially during the 1990's. There were no rules against it, and the prevailing attitude was that pro athletes could do "whatever it takes" to get to (and stay in) the big leagues.

It's strange that MLB is going back and nailing these guys now when they turned a blind eye to it while it was going on in order to increase profits and recover from the baseball strike of 1994.

Nothing like a roid fueled home run race between McGwire and Sosa to bring the fans back.

Posted: 2/16/2008 6:54:10 AM
Why do people want to avoid meat so badly? I've never really understood the whole vegetarian thing. Meat is so good for you. People were meant to eat meat. We're omnivores! I think it's all about having balance in your diet. You need a little of everything to remain healthy.

Have some of you really had success with Intimate Encounters?
Posted: 1/24/2008 7:39:06 AM

nope no luck at all.i think the woman on pof in the ie section are just on there for an ego stroking and a giggle with their girl frinds

I think that has a lot to do with it. They post provocative profiles simply to get attention. Obviously they're lacking something in their life if they need to be propped up by total strangers drooling over them.

Then there's the attitude. My goodness you've never seen ****ier women than women looking for IEs. Read one of their profiles and see how overwhelmingly negative it is. They're usually filled with insults and lines like:

"Don't waste my time..."
"If you can't do xyz..... you're a total loser..."

Wow, talk about a classy woman. For me personally, the reason I'm looking for an IE is because I don't want nor have time for the other relationship stuff right now. I don't want to have to deal with all this dating etiquette crap about phoning and seeing each other regularly and listening to someone complain about all their problems. Then it starts getting into the hypothetical 5 years down the road questions of "do you see us getting married?" "do you see us having kids?" etc......... Christ I just want to simplify things a bit. My life is complex enough.

If you log in as a guy and look at what's out there for "intimate encounters", the choice is pretty sad. You'll find two types of women:

TYPE 1) Absolutely ugly. The kind of woman that almost has to pay for sex.

TYPE 2) A Male-Female couple looking for another GUY to be in their threesome.
(Yes, you can imagine the gay implications there.)

I think when guys go looking for an intimate encounter, they're hoping to find an attractive looking female (or two). I know I am. It hasn't happened yet, and I'm still waiting.

Canadian Dollar Hits 30 yr High
Posted: 11/17/2007 8:03:51 AM

Yeah, 50k - 60k / yr is low paying crap. Thats what line workers make when producing cars. The trickle down jobs at their suppliers, which are not as good paying, still pay between 30k-45k.

The auto industry doesn't want to pay that kind of money to their employees. If they could relocate and move the manufacturing offshore, they would do it. The trouble is, cars are expensive to ship overseas. They're almost forced to build them here if they plan on selling them here.

Canadian Dollar Hits 30 yr High
Posted: 11/11/2007 7:15:06 AM
The thing is, one person's bad news is 30 million other Canadians good news. The fact is, a higher dollar helps Canadians more than it hurts them. With or without a strong manufacturing sector, we can survive and thrive. (Or at least we should be able to, although it doesn't usually happen.)

A low Canadian dollar makes us into a nation like India. We become a cheap pool of labour for other richer countries to exploit. That may be great for the economy, but it's bad for the people. I'd rather be part of a nation with a strong dollar and strong global purchasing power, even if it means one job sector takes a hit.

Let's face it: The manufacturing sector is fickle and cheap. They relocate to China, Mexico, and India to save pennies here and there. We can do without those jobs because they're low paying crap jobs.

There is a time lag but you are right that some retailers are pocketing the profits on the currency exchange but you can always drive to the USA. You should exchange some money at your local bank in canada to make sure you get the best exchange rate.

It should also be noted that some car companies have put policies in place specifically banning their US dealerships from selling to Canadians.

Well so far in Canada a higher dollar has meant nothing to Canadians. Products aren't any cheaper because retailers are pocketing all the profits on the currency exchange. So much for the increased purchasing power.

Our dollar has risen from 61 cents US to 107 cents US in five years. If you want to buy a car up here, you'll still pay $10,000 more for a $35,000 car in Canada. Seems outrageous doesn't it? Check the MSRP prices on company websites. Look at the Canadian site (.ca) and look at the US site. It's not even close.

UFC can not compare itself to boxing.
Posted: 11/6/2007 6:34:51 AM

If UFC fighters are so great then why don't they come over to boxing and make millions ? They wouldn't dare !!! I don't know anyone who would turn down the chance to make millions. The reason is because they would be outclassed by even a mediocre boxer.

*cough* TROLL *cough*

Some key points:

1.) I don't like either sport that much. Boxing is full of paper champions and BS. UFC is boring to watch when the fight goes to the ground and the rounds are way too long.

2.) If anything, I prefer the standup striking of K-1. No wrestling, just punching and kicking.

what is a cougar exactly?
Posted: 6/17/2007 6:58:11 AM
It has nothing to do with YOUR age, it has to do with your preference for younger men. A cougar is a woman that is interested in younger guys.

If you go after 18 year olds, then you'd be considered a cougar at age 30 by most people. If you went after 30 year olds you'd have to be in your 40's or higher to a cougar. So THEIR age and YOUR age determines cougar status.

Some older women can be quite attractive.

Posted: 6/17/2007 6:45:02 AM
I tried some Coke Zero the other day. It has aspartame and the other sweetener as well - a double whammy. Anyway, although it tastes better than the usual diet cokes, it still isn't a replacement for regular Coke.

I don't think we'll ever see a sugar replacement for so many reasons. In any event, people do need to keep in mind that although the artificial sweeteners are bad, the effects of too much sugar and obesity can be far worse.

SPIDERMAN .1 , 2 , 3 ,

Spiderman 3 - My take

When I saw the previews I knew the alien black costume would play a role in corrupting Peter Parker. What I didn't know was that Venom would appear already in the 3rd movie. (I believe it was too soon.)

The movie was good, but wtf is it with Hollywood and trilogies? This was a series that could have gone to 4 or 5 movies. What they SHOULD have done is:

- Have Spidey defeat Green Goblin with the black costume
- Get rid of the black costume (after it corrupts him somewhat)
- Have Spidey defeat Sandman as his usual self
- Have Eddie Brock find the black costume at the END of the 3rd movie

That way you see Venom being created and the audience knows a future encounter is imminent.

Then you make Spiderman 4 a battle against Venom (and maybe throw in another bad guy for good measure like Kingpin). The possibilities with Venom are endless. He is arguably Spidey's greatest foe. Venom needs more than just a 30 minute part in the 3rd movie.

Ask out the coffee shop girl?
Posted: 5/12/2007 8:24:48 AM
There are different types of "smiles".

TYPE 1: The "here we go again, another goofy guy hitting on me" smile.

TYPE 2: The "wow he's nice, I wish he'd ask me out" smile.

TYPE 3: The "I'm only smiling because they're paying me to" smile.

Unfortunately you'll never know which one it is until you stick your neck out and risk having it cut off.

As other posters have said, an attractive looking girl working at a coffee shop will get hit on every single day. Her response could be from one extreme to the other. She may find it laughable or she may find it offensive and annoying.

Also consider that if she gets hit on every single day, she can pick and choose whatever guy she wants. Odds are she probably isn't single because another guy beat you to her long time ago. Be prepared for a TYPE 1 or TYPE 3 reaction.

I seem to have a habit of running into really nice women that don't live anywhere near me. The latest is a California girl that is really sweet. (Of course I've never met her or any of the others that lived long distance away.)

Usually we exchange emails for awhile but then it becomes too painful to be investing all this time in someone you know you'll never meet and eventually it ends.

I feel bad when I judge people on their weight..
Posted: 5/12/2007 8:07:54 AM
I *used* to feel bad about it until I realized that women were constantly discriminating against me based on their own criteria (typically height, hair color, etc.) most of which is entirely unfair because I cannot change it. So I thought I would return the favour.

I guess for me, I'm not attracted to large women because it's a sign of bad health. Why would I want to surround myself with a person that would drag me down and get me to develop bad habits? (ie: Bad eating habits, not enough exercise, etc.)

I'd rather be with an attractive woman that pushes me to remain attractive looking too. That way we bring each other up.

I can't help but notice how many teenagers are absolutely gigantic. (TALL, not fat.) Even girls today are hitting 5'10" - 6ft tall with ease, and that's in running shoes.

It's like this latest generation has gained 5-6 inches in height on the previous one. That would be an unprecedented historical increase.

The best storyline would be Ottawa vs Detroit. It would only be fitting if the Sens had to face their old #1 goalie en route to a Stanley Cup.

For bailing on Edmonton, I don't think Pronger deserves another crack at the Cup, and I don't ever want to see the Ducks win anything because the franchise makes a mockery of the NHL and is a symbol of everything that is WRONG with the game.
ie: Three teams in California, three teams in New York, but only two teams in Ontario?

New Jersey looked out for their own best interests. They don't care about Toronto. They rested Brodeur for the playoffs. It's Toronto's own fault for losing to the Islanders in that pivotal game last week. As far as I'm concerned, Toronto didn't deserve to be there based on their performance when it mattered most.

There may not be any Canadian teams left after round 1. Calgary sucks, Vancouver has no offence, and Ottawa might get wiped out by the Penguins.

Same reason we keep passing on the nice guys, we're all braindead at times.

At times??? Women wouldn't know a nice guy if they tripped over one. I mean seriously, every woman on this site is here because they haven't found a nice guy. We're out there. Of course you have to look in the right places.

As a general rule of thumb, the good guys aren't the ones that constantly hit on you. Good guys play a little hard to get. ie: They don't have to resort to all the lame tactics to finding a girl. They might meet you HALFWAY, but they sure as hell won't do all the work in the pursuit.

(Opps, didn't mean to reveal that secret. Suddenly 20,000 women everywhere just realized why they keep meeting jerks. They're not meeting the jerks, the jerks are making it a priority to meet them!)

Get you history books out Tech
Philly ,Buffalo and Washington all went to the dance in recent memory
without bringing home the prize AND President cup winners rarely
are tops in the playoffs . Dallas being the only winners of both in the last ten years
Quit hiding behind negativity and Hooter girls and wear your Leaf colors with pride

If the Senators made the Cup final and lost, you could say they had a great run. The Leafs on the other hand, haven't had a decent team since about 2002 and they've never been the favourite to do anything in the playoffs in my lifetime.

In fact, have the Leafs ever finished first in their conferance? Have they ever won a Presidents trophy? I don't think they've done either.

Ottawa was so bad for so long. They have to cash in now before they lose the rest of their team under the salary cap.

I'm getting pretty tired of everyone saying they choked in the playoffs
as if it happens every year to them and only them

Detroit choked last year too. Anytime you're a favourite and you get knocked out in the early rounds it's pretty pathetic.

Ottawa had BY FAR the best team in the Eastern Conferance last year. They had the best offence, the best defence, and the best goaltender. No other team in the NHL could say that. It was the total package and they melted down again. Ottawa is the only team in recent memory to do so well in the regular season (year after year) and not win a Cup.
