Canada ban on Perfumes
Posted:

The reasoning behind this has more to do with the fact that some of the chemicals in fragrances can trigger respiratory distress in some people. So while these chemicals can cause a headache in some individuals it can seriously endanger the lives of people who suffer from asthma and other respiratory disorders. Even though it may seem like it's a waste of money, do a comparison between campaigning to make people aware of this situation and the money that's spent on heath care because someone was exposed to a trigger that made it necessary for them to seek medical attention and perhaps end up being hospitalized.
As for the City of Ottawa trying to impose a ban on scents in public places, I don't believe that is a feasible goal. I think they should just stick to educating the public about the dangers of chemicals in fragrances and let the public make up their own minds. Also, the government should implement a policy of using non-scented soaps and cleaning supplies in government buildings.
Having said that, my work place has a policy of "no spraying perfumes in the facility" due to the fact that the mist could trigger an attack in some individuals. The irony of this is, many of the individuals that will belly ache about spraying of perfumes because they suffer from respiratory disorders are the same individuals that will go outside to have a cigarette or 2 then come back inside and assault my sense of smell with the remnants of their cigarette.

You folks want to show your sympthy for a drugged out boozer...please do. I have none for people like her. I only hope the child is taken care of by a responsible adult and not another drugged out bimbo. With all the money she had...why did she feel the need to be a boozer and druggie?
Rightwinggoodguy, funny you should feel the need to judge her for her drug use and yet your profile states that you smoke often. Nicotine is highly addictive DRUG and smoking cigarettes can kill you. What was that old saying about people who live in glasshouses?

Like they say, " The singer formally known as HOT ".
Now-a-days she looks like the mother of 2 kids.
Are you implying that mothers are incapable of looking HOT??? Quite a few women should be offended by your comment Nipolean!

Poor Anna Nicole it seems even in death she's still having a rough time. My heart goes out to her daughter.
It's a shame that quite a few of the people are only focused on the negative things about her. What about all the charities she was involved in? As bad as you folks think she was, she had quite a few good qualities. I suppose it's easier to focus on the bad than it is to focus on the good.
Don't forget, like it or not we all have character flaws, unfortunately for her she lived a public life.

Is this dishonest?
Posted:

I was out again last weekend with my friend, who is of Indian ethnicity but born in England and raised in Canada. He has a very slight East Indian accent on some words but otherwise sounds 100% Canadian.
However, when we go out, he plays up the British accent to the max. Kind of a brown Hugh Grant. And it is truly remarkable how many girls actually fall for this shtick and go gaga over him! Now he was indeed born in London and lived there til he was 10 or whatever, but he doesn't sound anything like that IRL. Is this dishonest or is buddy just accentating his positives??
I don't see it as him being dishonest at all. Not in the least. I think he's just accentuating his positives don't be jealous of your buddy if his accent is netting him more girls than you can net
I too have an accent and I kind of store it away when I am with my Canadian friends because they tend not to understand me with the accent. In addition to that, it's the best way to assimilate but there are times when I want to stand out from the crowd and I use it then. I don't think that's being dishonest. I see it as having the best of both worlds.

Charisma4uii did you notice I say I live near the coast and not directly on the coast or do you just have reading comprehension problems?
Iluvtofish, actually my reading comprehension is just fine. Yours however leaves a lot to be desired. If you go over what I typed it might finally hit you.
I mean if there is a hurricane and you live
close to
the coast
Yes, close to is synonymous to near. You might want to reach for your dictionary right about now.
Oh and while we are at it and you are trying to backpedal, you might want to rephrase what you initially typed.
But I live
right
near the coast
By typing "right near" as opposed to simply typing "near the coast" you only serve to further emphasize your proximity to the coast.
Do you still want to go on about who lacks reading comprehension skills? (That's a rhetorical question by the way).

First you wrote...
Yea people die but it is there own faults. You have idiots who live on small islands or directly on the coasts that say I am not leaving! I am going to protect my home and then a 20ft wall of water washes them away lol.
Quickly followed by....
But I live right near the coast and must say they are not that terrible. I stayed home and went through a category 4
Which begs the questions, are you admiting to being one of those idiots you mentioned? I mean if there is a hurricane and you live close to the coast and there is danger of flooding and all the rest of the stuff that goes along with it. Why stay home? Why would you not got to a hurricane shelter?

^^^A lightbulb went off in my head reading this....
Look at your drivers licence, OP, it's all in english....nes pas?
Actually my driver's license is bilingual as well. And that's an Ontario driver's license. So is my SIN card and so is my Health Card.
So to answer your question Outdoor2 your assumption is incorrect.

I can't stand to read a huge essay from the author about the topic they want to discuss.
How about we shorten up the topic????
If you can't stand to read long threads, find threads that are short and more geared to the length you like to read. It's kind of like finding someone on this site that you are attracted to. You don't keep the guys you find attractive on the site and make the guys that are not attractive to you find another site. (Even though you may wish you could do that).

WHAT DOES METRO-SEXUAL MEAN?
Posted:
7/23/2006 9:23:35 AM
No roadspur "metrosexual" is not a term exclusive to Canadian men. You just need to get out a bit more. LOL. Joking.
Try watching shows like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Will & Grace and Ellen. I am quite sure you will hear the term pop up at some point in time.

LMAO... no... but, someone asked me out and I was a bit hesitant about meeting him. Well he was persistant so I gave in. We were suppose to meet for a hot chocolate or something. I got there he hugs me and he pops the question. NO, not the do you want to be my girlfriend or the will you marry me question. He pops the "I have to go to pick up a few things from the grocery store. Do you want to go to the grocery store with me?" question. At this point I did not know what to think. So I laughed and said ok. We went grocery shopping. He even let me pick up a few of his items asked my opinion about a few others. He even sneaked a "She's with me hug." Then we drove around aimlessly for a bit then he hits me with, "Umm, do you want to help me put my groceries away?" The thought quickly crossed my mind that this guy could be a serial killer. However, we were driving aroud for a while so I figured nah he's cute and harmless. So we went back to his place and I helped him pack his groceries away. Then we watched a movie.
So no, I've never met a guy at a grocery store. But after meeting one he took me there. I don't even know if that counts as a first date. Maybe not he did not buy ice cream.

Bronzetreat I won't give you any more of the spectacularly craptastic "facts", stereotypes and generalities that I have read in this thread already. I will however give you some advice on how to try to accomplish what you want.
First of all, I would suggest starting with your profile. I would suggest you add more to your profile other that "looking for someone cool to hang out with". This is a dating site. Your profile needs to stand out. Right now it's just hiding on the back of the clothing rack hoping to be discovered. You ever wonder why Pepsi and Coke spend so much money advertising? It's to give their product an edge. (LOL not like they need to stand out any more). You are in retail so you should know a bit about about how to sell. Same concept. Use your profile to sell yourself. (LOL.. No not prostitute yourself- market yourself.)
So, having said that. You need to state your interests. (Put in in a paragraph form in the about you section). Do you like reading, going for walks, movies, sports? What type of person do you consider yourself to be? Are you charming, intelligent (lol, no one ever admits to being stupid), do you have a dry sense of humor? All of these things will serve to spark a conversation. Simply stating "looking for someone to hang out with" makes me just want to pass on your profile and just move on to the next. I am sure the guys are doing the same.
Next, state what you are hoping to find. Be assertive. You can use something like, "I would love to date a caucasian male who finds intellectual conversations stimulating but also enjoys quiet, cuddle time". List the qualities you would like him to have. For example, likes kids, walks on the beach, etc.
First Dates, please put something in there other than "whatever floats your boat". This let's the guy know you are capable of thinking and making decisions. I am not trying to be condescending when I say that please don't take it that way. What you put in here does not need to be extravagant.
Remember first impressions can be lasting ones. Be articulate and assertive. Know what you want and simply state it.
Best wishes and happy fishing.
Charisma
P.S. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. This is for all those who jumped on the racism bandwagon rather than try to find a solution for Bronzetreat.
