E-Mail Messages not showing up in the Sent Msg/Outbox Area? More than (4) Four duplicate E-Mails sent per Day. Nope More than (40) Forty 'First Contact' E-Mails per Day. Nope Your E-Mail is too long, exceeding approx. 7,800 Characters Nope Do not use the ---> @ Symbol, non-resolvable Character Encodings, Unicode, Chinese or anything else the System Filter does not recognize in your Message. No other characters used You have not only composed and copied the Body of your ASCII (Plain Text) Message from your Text Editor into your E-Mail Message, but also your Text Editor's unrecognized, non-standard Formatting, Document Markup Languages or Control Characters. Use another Editor or don't use/turn off its formatting Functions. Nope Do not send HTML Links, Java Code or E-Mail Addresses. None sent Do not enter any Telephone Numbers, or anything else that the Spam Filter may construe as a Telephone Number. Do not use more than 6 Numbers together such as Dates (1998-2003) even if separated by Spaces, Dashes, Periods, Parenthesis, Commas, etc. No numbers used Do not use Banking Terms, such as "Account", "Bank", "Transfer", Profanities, the Names of Hosting Sites, Names of certain blocked Countries such as Nigeria, India, Russia, or anything else that could reasonably be expected to catch the Eye of the Site's Spam/Scam Filters. Nope Some Messages which contain any illegal Material or Activities such as "Drugs", "Rape", "Murder", etc. may be blocked. Nope That User has other Contact Restrictions per their Mail Settings Nope, had no restrictions whatsoever You have a Mail Settings Restriction such as \| Dating \| and have e-mailed another User with the very same Restriction, or other such Mail Setting Conflict. You cannot block that in your Mail Settings what is also indicated in the Looking For Field in your Edit Profile No, only filter I have is to be female, and not do drugs. Which all pass those requirements You, or the intended E-Mail Recipient, or both have a missing or incorrect Postal Code Profile Entry, esp. a "75 Mile" Contact Restriction Limit in either's Mail Settings. No , all local and cant see many people typing in a incorrect zip code You inadvertently edited the Recipients To: Field instead of the Subject Line and fired your E-Mail/Reply off to a Non-Existent User/E-Mail Address, or to a User who had deleted his Profile. No You have made Reply to an existing E-Mail in your Inbox, but changed the Recipient in the To: Field of a User who has his/her Profile hidden, and does not have you on his/her Favourites List. Since Mail Settings are hidden from View, Contact Restrictions can not be determined. No The Mail Recipient has made certain fundamental Changes to his/her Profile such as Change of User Name or Mail Settings but has not yet E-Mail Logged out, reflecting the Update. Nope The Site's Contact Filter has blocked you from e-mailing anyone who has set their Mail Settings to block those who have previously messaged others for Sex or Intimate Encounters. Nope That User E-Mail Blocked you subsequent to receipt of your Message, consequently your 'Sent Mail' disappeared from your Sent Msg/Outbox Folder. If that User then unblocked you, and you e-mailed again, the same Sequence could re-occur. No, its instantaneous and says sent, but does not show in sent mail. Your Browser's Options/Preferences are incorrect, Securities set to high, Cookies corrupt, Firewall Blocks, etc. Default browser securities Another User has not E-Mail Logged out of their Plentyoffish Account from the same Computer using the same Browser, but you have E-Mail Logged into your Account sending E-Mails. ??? Speak english Your Browser's User Agent is concealed, corrupt or indicates the Presence of Malware, Trojan or Viral Infection. No, clean system A User's Profile was deleted, but not the actual User Account, resulting from massive Errors generated by a User trying to rig the Voting System utilizing automated Bots or other similar Types of Abuses. Nope That User's Profile may have been deleted. Nope User/Execution Error. ???no errors displayed, happens to many users It is also possible there may yet be other Filters in Place the Admin never made mention of, such as a high Percentage of E-Mail blocks and Contact-to-Complaint Ratios, etc. Nope, Unless admin has a not let user contact good looking in range people with no filters filter... If you feel this Site has a serious Glitch, click here to Investigate Now !!! Another, um look at this post, and then look at another post circle...No help there either

(ok again with the Page 15 of 12 error too btw) Ok, thought i made it very clear.... and yes I've gone step my step thru the it must be this or this or that... its not, period... My friend joined, she has no filters, no nothing... saw her soon as she signed up to welcome her, couldn't do... ok, BUG Another bug, DONT say EMAIL SENT if it wasn't sent.... BUG Ok the ie filter/restrictive filters etc... these TELL you that you cant write the people, when you try to...that's not it... If a message is being flagged and not able to send due to one of those, it should tell you, and which it does from what I've noticed if you are out of their age range, or distance or whatever... so as far as i can tell thats working... even though it would be nicer to still say the reasoning, not simply say you cant write them. Another site that I use tells you before hand if your email will basically be allowed or not before you attempt.. Nice and clean not a whole system of cryptic hidden flags that apparently is making finding this bug difficult to the admin. I'm sure many of us with this problem can let the admin know who we are trying to contact so he can look into why they are not going through. What still bugs me is the "Moderators" here that simple think every problem is the users fault. I'm a web developer myself and beta test for many software companies, and quite good at finding bugs if I say so myself. So far from the postings seems a endless loop of read this post, that post says read this post, that one says read another post... How about helpful service and simple respond to my post - closing a thread with a solution not given, and the reporter acknowledging that it fixed their problem... thats what moderators jobs are about. A searchable FAQ section needs to be put in place not making the user read 20 different postings with 30 pages of responses each to find the simple answer to their question. These are common place on most sites now and reduce the strain on the support department by displaying common solutions to each problem... and ability to make a support ticket if they were not answered - support tickets are also nice because the reporter can close the ticket when the problem is resolved. This is also a good way for developers to see multiple people with similar tickets open to find their problems... get their browser info, what they were doing, etc Note: Not complaining, I realize this is a free site, just trying to offer constructive suggestions and notice of bugs in the system. Using my experience as a web developer and trouble seeking, to help further the site.

Ok again just happen to see my friend online... I again tried to write her... same problem remember as I said, she's new, has no flags etc... so it said it sent, it didnt, she said she didnt get (chatting with her in IM testing this) and so told her to write me... she did, I got that... I replied and that one now looks like it works... So again... there is some type of bug... please fix... there are quite a few Id love to write to, but they simply dont get my messages... and I know how some of you gals wont write a guy until they write you, so we have a problem with this picture haha... Still no response from the admin?

(lets see if my reply gets posted, since all my forum posts are blocked too) Seems we have enough people saying this is a bug, why can't this be gotten looked into more... because surely its a bug with so many people reporting it... Ive tried to contact admin, post on forum, etc, but 90% of the time, THOSE emails/posts don't go through too... I think i finally finally found a contact link long time ago to contact admin through email, that was months ago, no reply so far on this issue. (btw love wow I'm also reading page "13 of 12" in this thread, another small bug)

Ill reply here (since this seems to work) As well as some emails, I can no longer post to the forums, only reply to a thread... so what HAVE I DONE WRONG now? No wonder I haven't noticed replies to all the other bugs I've reported... THEY ARE NOT POSTING! Geez this is irritating..

After following your links hearing the same things, there are no problems... how can this be with 100's of people complaining about the same problem... let alone the people that never realize the problem, nor how to report it... Whats the admins account? I'll sure be glad to forward him the dozens of forum threads reporting this problem, with 100's of complainants , and the moderators ignoring this issue or writing it off as the USERS problem... all of us taking the time to report these problems want to see the site better and smoother... no use using a site if you cant even rely on the system to send out emails, it should be the #1 thing about the system that should be solid. What I'm surprised is he doesn't read all of these forum posts on bugs/suggestions etc and address them (if he has I've never noticed) BTW, I think this has a similar bug in the forums "Anything you post can not be deleted. " is definitely not true as I've posted things before only to not have them actually post.. So again I'll try this reply and try posting another bug (with screenshots to prove my points)

Ive reported this numerous times... yet my msgs always get shot down... there is definitely a bug... and all the links the moderator INSIST it must be one of those things, simply is not the case. Moderator, you must not be a programmer... bugs happen... just too many people reporting same problem... I personally write each email, no copies etc... and almost everyday I see emails still not sending out to new contacts... ive almost given up writing people due to this problem... it really must be looked into more. Gets real frustrating not getting messages in the first place only to find the messages you do take the time to write, are not even getting to the people...

Also see this, think its more some bug... also seen some people Ive never wrote to before, and says blocked... before I could even write them a 1st time? Weird And ya so like he said if they accidentally block ya, then what if she's telling him why dont you reply, and he can't she'll just eventually ignore it and not write him anymore... seems like you should make it when maybe you have to remove user from favorite to block them... or something at least that be like a safety... or even a request to be unblocked

Ive noticed lately when emailing people I see online... The message says sent... (not like im blocked or anything like that) and no errors.. yet when i go to my sent mail folder, its not in there.... why is this? Also clear cache, restart etc, still not there. Happened to multiple users for me too... so not just one... Most the time i have no problems sending etc. and I see the emails as sent just fine... Ideas?

Just suggestion, to make it easier to IM people why not show the "IM User" IN their profile and not just the random thumbnails along the top... seems like if they are online, and have IM turned on, then their profile should show this... simple, easy to add... otherwise its just the random people that show up in the thumbs you can IM or ones who email you which you also see in the message... just seems the profile is most logical place to put this haha And their should be a how to for the IM as well since seems so many people cant use it... its annoying... sure it looks good, but buggy as heck, requires flash, stops people from typing when they get a message... seems be much easier developing your own very simple chat client... Just read so many peoples profiles that say it don't work for them... of course its only because of a few things that are not allowing it to work, yet most people dont want to try to get it to work, I say just use another chat client that works better and more browser friendly.

Anyone had problems with emails being sent, says they are sent etc, yet not show up in the sent mail folder... sent some a few times, they all say sent (not like i wasnt allowed or something) and then in sent mail, does not show them..?

Ok havent much noticed this on here until now... how/where do I report these to get them off of here? Dont see anything to "report scam/spam/user" on a email address - this should be there and then be reviewed by a moderator You send a user email with a few q's about them only to get unrelated canned responses to email them here or check out website there... so sick of all the sites that do this... POF needs to put in a image security word for login( or even better every time you email someone) , and that would keep automated bots from logging in and trolling their mail boxes

Myself using photoshop since v1, I highly doubt Id meet very many users talented enough to make a fake salute sign that looks real... most photochops you can easily tell.. Anyways another thing they showed was people that donated, so a donated icon & a real icon would give a person alot more credibility... Its just sorry that people use other peoples pics.. Dont see what they ever expect to come of it.

Another site I visit has a nice feature... says if the person is "Real" / verified.. by them saluting the site... ie holding a sign saying something with their face clearly shown, and the message written and photo not digitally edited at all. Once the moderators see this image they can add the verified icon to their profile.. Also to help out, how about adding a Last On date field on profiles? so we can see if someone hasnt been on in a long time..

Also the "Other Relationship? Activity Partner?" post reminded me of a search bug.. even making this topic even more confusing... i dont use the search much but may be buggy with all... If you enter to say look for activity partner, you also get intimate incounters results showing up so this don't help clear these up.. perhaps we need more new choices that are more clear... like some have said workout partner, casual dating, exclusive dating, casual sex, etc whatever that are more precise perhaps.

forums? no never says anything here everytime i login, in the upper left it will say you have 2, or 3, or whatever messages, when you actually click it, or the inbox you have one less than what it says... otherwise its deleting a message? - doubt thats the case though.

One thing I noticed about IM's which not sure if you have any control over since not your IM software... but if i'm AFK for a bit & forget to logout, and someone IM's and then the popup window times out, it just says something like this session closed or something - i forget.. how about if possible to show who IM'd you.. Many other sites I visit, the IM's work reguardless if you are online or not, and then show up on your next login - I guess just similar to yahoo offline msgs.. but i guess it just sucks seeing someone tried to IM you here & you have no idea who it was.

(thought i'd move this post here too) When you click on someones interest, it then displays a list of people with same interest.. music = http://www.plentyoffish.com/interests/music.aspx etc but if you click to view 2nd, 3rd page etc http://www.plentyoffish.com/interests/music-1.aspx you will get empty pages.... another problem I found was under contacts, you view people that have written to you & visa versa... well some on my list that say they wrote me dont look familiar for one, but the problem i see is when you click (msg) i would assume it would show you the messages you both sent perhaps? but it also gives a blank page.. so hopes that helps you nail these, they been that way along time

Well I'm surprised more people havn't been sued - I'm a web developer myself, and I'd say 90% of the dating sites out there use some form of these tactics - Hey but I use these sites as well (ie POF), but have proven some of the noted ones fake as well.. so many actually STOCK their sites with profiles - new sites even COME with "free profiles" so they can have a good startup and look more full - Have to admit that is the biggest hurdle for any dating site is to get going..(I know this personally) Anyways other sites do more than have fake accounts, they have their employees (as mentioned) farm replies from users to get them to join... some even send messages after your Trial ends telling you you have mail - only to find out its from them if you actually pay to read it (some don't even tell you who the mail is from til you pay)... while some of the biggest sites out there go as far as fake accounts with very complex auto responders/bots - some even chat!... all fake... It's the old "Eliza" program all grown up (for those of you that don't remember the old computer science - this would reply to your questions with answers deemed correct to your question"... With typos, and delays, etc, just like a real person.. so don't get suckered in. Sure as you have read, sure some people have good luck on these sites because sure their are real people too, just as there are fake people here on POF as well - at least we dont have to pay for them and most of us can spot them with common sense. So just use which sites you like, and keep eyes open, and dont be afraid to write people and ask questions.

I think guys think if you want them only as a friend perhaps then you'll never have interest in them.. and if a guy likes you, those famous words "I like you as a friend" are words of death... Nothing wrong with doing things slow.. but make sure some attention is there some guys will wait it out. But if you really like a guy, dont do the friend thing, it will only scare him away.

Well hate seeing life flying by - friends mainly all married and have kids... seeing those loser guys getting the nice girls you know knocked up and dragging the girls thru mud... weird how always the nice ones go for the losers.. anyways I like another person was single almost ALL thru my 20's and off and on for last few years but do want kids as well... seems though now i mainly only meet those girls that have had the kids and dont want more... I want a family and to have kids... have nothing against a girl with kids.. as i love kids (and no not in the michael jackson way) just cant seem to find nice moraled girls that are not stuck on themselves and that want a relationship.. not many out there.. or at least local ones..

Well love the holidays but getting tired of all of them alone esp in the 30's now Im sure you must all agree... I hung out with roommate and her friends so that was nice at least, but what do most of you all do during the holidays and how do you get over being solo? Sounds bad but almost use to it, its terrible, i love the holidays and love sharing them with someone special... Hope you all had a fun safe 4th... :)

Pretty screwed when posts on this same topic from FunkyAmy which have URLs to other sites "SinglesForSex.com" which just points to friendfinder... hmmm dam all these... Msg to admin, how about a "Report Abuse" link to report spam, fake accnts, joke accounts, etc? I've been on other sites that have user "salutes" to prove whos real.. something should be utilized.. Even on POF.. love it, but finding many of these other sites are creating fake accnts on here.. Got to love it when an accnt here says, well i dont check my email here much, come to this site and send me a message" only to find out its paid access site... rrrrriiight.. Like anyone would rather pay a site to get their mail for free...

No they don't (ie Adult friend finder) I proved they have multiple fake female accnts on there, I was also like some a paid member for months.. Sure I'm sure like other sites they might have some real people.. of course people have to sign up.. But Ask someone what is their favorite music, or do they have family here, or any general questions & get page of replies of nosense drabble (basically same from various girls) and never answering your questions... = fake automated bots... I'm a web developer myself... And sorry to say its terrible what they do...what a sorry way to earn money making people think they have all these people writing you...No wonder many women don't like online dating because they get 100's of emails from people that don't read, or are not what they are looking for or in my findings fake all together.. Sorry In the search for decent dating websites, there are few, I've signed up on them all in the search looking to develop my own, but there are only a few decent ones, all have their own flaws in my opinion... at least POF has some good qualities that a good site needs Its not the best by far, but it is free and offers decent amount of real people... and they actually reply back to your Q's here ;)
