I get that question a lot.....and yes I dont find it appropriate on a first chat either. but I usually will ask them how many inches are they packing and see what their response is.
or my other response is "i have had no complaints" ....LOL

Initial Contact: Do's & Don'ts ??
Posted:
4/9/2009 9:44:29 AM
I have to agree on the grammar thing, that really irks me in an initial note.
here's a dont....dont send your phone number and just say "call me" LMAO...I dont even know your first name so who exactly am I supposed to be asking for when I call?
anything sexual.....big turnoff on a first contact as well.....
I do reply to pretty much all of the emails I get. I really like the ones that have something funny, humourous or actually show they might have read my profile.

First Meeting Place
Posted:
1/12/2009 9:00:23 AM
Yes huge red flag for me as well. I have ran across that a few times with guys on here wanting me to meet them at their place or at mine. I just simply say no thanks, first time meeting is always in public. If they wont go for that, there is a reason and I dont want any part of it.
Usually coffee is the easiest and simplest first meet. If they cant even meet you in a public coffee shop, i would be curious of the reason.

I would just back off and she will figure it out on your own. Sounds like you have already told her about the phone call in the bathroom situation.

What do women want?
Posted:

well that is a pretty tough one to answer as every woman is different.....but I would say the top of my list is
1. employed
2. honest
3. not a player...hard to find on this site at times
4. humourous
5. has same common interests as me

Pay more attention to profiles without photos?
Posted:
10/29/2008 5:40:08 AM
I do read and chat with people without a picture...but I have learned to nix meeting them if they cannot provide me with a photo either through email or IM. I have done the meet without a photo and wont do that again in a hurry.
I figure fair is fair....my picture is there, even when I didnt have a digital camera, I had a friend take a few pics to add online or to send to people.
keep fishing....

What is your #1 Pet Peeve in Profiles

I have several pet peeves but my top two are:
1. Prefer not to say (esp when it is under the single/sep/divorced category..that usually leads me to beleive they are married)
2. No picture but they expect you to have a picture when you contact them...LMAO

New York Broadway Trip
Posted:
8/26/2008 9:33:39 AM
I went to NYC and saw a Broadway Show...at the time it was The Odd Couple. We got tickets at the discount place at Times Square.
I stayed at the Lucerne Hotel, very nice but the room service sucked. It was close to Central park and the Met. also close to subway.
I travelled on the subway which was really easy.
I found the site www.nyc.com to be very helpful planning my trip and for things to do.
Hope you have a great time.

Best/Worst message
Posted:
8/26/2008 5:15:55 AM
I get a lot of nice messages complimenting me about my smile.
I say my top worst was an email of 8 questions from some "winner" asking me various sexual preferences......It was so priceless. I copied it and emailed it to my married girlfriends and said this is what us single girls have to put up with.....it was good for a laugh. After that message, I turned him down for a coffee date...thanks but no thanks!

Posted:

I had my IM turned on for a long time but got tired of the faceless male trolls fishing on here for sex only or cyber sex, so turned it off.....if you are interested , send them an email. I respond to the emails I get and if I want to chat with someone , I turn it back on and ignore the trolls.

Punctuality Pet Peeve...
Posted:
8/8/2008 5:36:06 AM
Hey be happy she showed up! How late was she, if it was only 10 mins , then I wouldnt be bothered but if it was 20-30mins every time...that might bother me.
After being stood up on meets, I only wait 15mins now for someone, if they havent called....I will call them and if there is no response then I am out of there. I dont waste my time waiting around anymore.

Safety on a First Meet.
Posted:
2/25/2008 6:22:57 AM
Ocean...you did everything right......i would have done the same thing.....I think of my own safety first and foremost when I meet anyone online. If they wont meet me in a public place, then that is a huge red flag for me.
I often wonder about these guys that are insistent on going to their house for a first date......I always say no thanks. I dont feel safe to have someone come to my house on a first date either........I dont know what they are thinking when they suggest that, and then you always get the argument...I am not going to hurt you, etc.....
Dont fret about this guy.......he doesnt sound like much of a keeper to cancel the date before you even got there because you wouldnt ride in the car with him.
good luck , keep fishing

Posted:

Yes, I have to agree it is rude behaviour....but I think it has become the norm these days.
I always just tell the person by email or in person, whatever the case may be, if I didnt feel any connection.....havent had a problem with doing that or the results of it.

I have been to 3 POF events in my area, I found the same thing....the guys wont approach, or even talk to you.....it was like a grade 9 dance.......but I still continue to go and try to mingle. As a new person to my first event, I was not introduced to anyone by the host/hostess....
I did find that there were more women then men at the events I attended. Might try the new years party, we will see.

happened to me on a second date with this one guy, it was also our first sexual encounter, grabbed my hand , placed it there...next thing I know he has his fly open and is asking for a BJ.....too much! LOL. I agree if I want to play with it , I will do it of my own accord, dont need that much direction.

sounds to me like he is still with her , just not sleeping together. I would tell him to contact me when he is definitely single and can afford to date. Would you be suspicious if someone only gave you their cellphone number n not their home number??
Posted:
10/9/2007 10:31:58 AM
ran in to this problem with one guy on here......after a year of chatting still gives his cell phone , no home number, always came to my place, showed up in his gym clothes. I suspected he was married, still do....rarely answers his cell, always blocks it to call my number. Hilarious. He was very vague about a lot of stuff. I figure eventually his wife will figure things out......he does have a landline phone, says he shares it with his sister (yeah right LMAO)....
Usually I only give out my cell number, I didnt have one at first and was cautious with who I gave my home number to. Luckily I havent had any problems with giving out my number as of yet.
If someone only gave me their cell phone, that is fine at first.....however , if after several dates , no home number, I would raise a red flag.

Clothes do make the man
Posted:
9/12/2007 5:32:24 AM
I dont expect the guy to show up in a tie and suit for a first meet.....just casual , jeans, nice shirt......havent had a problem with that except for one guy who showed up in his gym gear......geesh. I know we met after his workout but I expected him to show up in a pair of jeans/shirt , not his gym clothes.
I always make an effort to wear something nice, casual and of course makeup...dont think it is wrong for the other person to show up in something nice and clean and shows they made an effort.

How long should one wait at a meeting place?
Posted:

I have waited 20-30 minutes , then I leave.......usually I call them after about 20 minutes, leave a message. If they dont call back, I leave. I usually email them the next day and asked what happened? might give them a second chance, but might not, depends.

When did asking your bra size become socially acceptable?
Posted:
6/27/2007 9:44:06 AM
I get this from quite a few guys that IM me.....a few have asked for full body shots since I dont show my lower half.....I get a lot worse questions then that and usually I just close it down and say thanks but no thanks.
I really dont mind the question, if I am having a flirty, playful chat or if it is with someone I have chatted with for a while....although, I will occasionally play along or ask them how many inches they are packing...LOL
I wouldnt generalize and say ALL men ask but more often then not they do.

Posted:

I get asked this question as well ....I find it pretty offensive and rude. the last guy said "well I cant see your lower half".....LOL. I told him there was nothing wrong with my lower half and provided him my dress size.
I also get the bra size....drives me crazy but it seems to be part of the norm around this site.
I got a list of sex questions today, pretty offensive, so wont be meeting that fishy for coffee anytime soon.

Having a date meeting you at your house
Posted:

definitely not on the first date. I have had a guy want to me to meet at his place for a first date.....definitely not going down that road. I prefer to meet in public for a first date, somewhere neutral. I hear too many horror stories about meeting at the other's house to make me wary of it for a first date.

North shore is awesome, Dole Plantation is a fun trip. Kaneohe Bay was a nice quiet beach. Waikiki was crowded when I went, we looked through the International Market there but did my shopping at the Flea Market at the ProBowl stadium, same stuff, much cheaper prices.
Pearl Harbor was a great thing to see as well.

Home care? - Anyone know anything??
Posted:

I work in a hospital and we often send patients home at their request. Check with your local CCAC (community care access centre) and they will be able to help you with any questions you have. Going through the hospital social worker is the first step, you can request a family meeting through her. You would meet with the social work, physio, OT, drs , etc and make a plan for discharge.
good luck

Pain in Legs
Posted:
5/11/2007 9:24:30 AM
I work in vascular disease and sounds like you could have thrombosis. Get yourself to a proper doctor. A DVT could kill you and goes undiagnosed in women all the time. compression stockings will help with swelling but wont do much for the clot.
The aspirin will help, but I would suggest seeing a professional (vascular surgeon). first step would be a Doppler (ultrasound) to rule out that it is a DVT, it could be something else entirely.
I am glad I live in Canada where our health care is paid for by the government.
