PickUp Trucks run Empty

so everyone who lives in a city has no use to haul anything?
what?
i am co-owner of 6 rental properties. my sweets owns two restaurants. we live in a city. he drives a truck
we fill his truck bed with building supplies, landscaping supplies and just last week a broken salad table we tore apart to recycle.
his truck bed is not always full, but sometimes it is. i suppose you follow him around trying to justify his truck ownership?
one thing that is always in his truck, is a contraption he uses to strain the veggie oil from his restaurants to burn as fuel in his deisel truck
so who's the moron now?

Where it incites violence......that would appear to be a great place to start.
i agree with you on that but where in the letter does he ever say to hurt someone?
personally, if it came down to a choice between having to read "iron my shirts" signs or being free, i'd take my freedom. only a fool would choose otherwise

the pastor is a little wackadoodle. i don't agree with him, i would NEVER agree with him.
however, i read the letter, was it really THAT bad? i've seen worse. i've certainly heard worse. the "iron my shirts" signs people brought to clinton speeches and such didn't inspire lawsuits and fines and a huge waste of taxpayer dollars. they made me sick but take it for what it is and move on. is it a maturity issue? maybe, i think so
people should really stop wetting themselves over some letter some preacher writes.
canadians cannot call themselves truly free. whether or not they think they are better off that way is totally up to them but where in the world do you actually draw the line?

i can't say you're a bad mother or a good mother, i have no idea.
you hang out with drug dealers though. that makes you a kinda stupid mother.
do they know where you live? do they know you're real full name? do you meet them to buy drugs alone, do you bring your daughter?
maybe it's just me, but i try to avoid criminals. especially if i had kids

Obama Metdown...

rollrgrl, you have been pressing your own emotional buttons over this.
Obama was 8 years old when these people did what they did.
Don't mix him up with it. And dont blame him for the deaths of those cops.
I am sure Obama has consorted with thousands of people in the course of his public life. Is he responsible for every toe-sucker or nose-picker, every time someone might have farted in an elevator and looked at someone else?
Focus on what he does nd says. You are being sucked into the slime teams that have been going over everything and everyone in his life trying to dig up dirt and get the kind of reaction that you are experiencing.
Dont be manipulated.
sorry to disappoint but i'm not getting emotional over anything. i already said i won't vote for him due to higher taxes and no viable energy plan. YOU were the one who got shrill and aggressive. remember? the name calling? jeesh! and really, i'm don't consider myself democrat or republican. labels are stupid and force people into thinking very narrowly. if i HAD to put a label on, it'd be far closer to constitutionalist.
again, not being sucked into anything. higher taxes are bad, especially right now. no viable energy plan is worse. honestly, i wish wright would get to writing his book and shut the fk up so we can hear more about the REAL issues
if by cops you're referring to the brinks guard montreal guy mentioned, we were talking about the clintons. not obama. try to keep up
you are perfectly well entitled to your opinion as i am to mine. if i think it should be of a concern who the president surrounds himself with, i will and i won't apologize for it. if you don't, good for you. you are absolutely entitled to feel that way and you shouldn't apologize for it. while i am a reasonable, intelligent adult who doesn't have to whine and name call when some one has a disagreement with me, i think you should probably spend a little time in time out and really think about it. i'm sure you're a very nice person who is simply hiding behind the internet, try to remember that there are actual people on the other side of the screen reading what you type
at any rate, i hope you have a very nice thursday and gas prices aren't squeezing you too hard. and i meen that

Anyone here up in arms over Daley choosing him to do that ?
Are you up in arms about Clinton's husband pardoning two convicted killers from the same organization ? Ones that killed a Brink's guard, and two policemen ?
Ayers at least took care of their children, when their parents couldn't.
Anyone here up in arms that the man redeemed himself through educating others, and helping others ?
Keep trying to justify the unjustifiable, while maintaining a double standard.
as a former illinoisian, NOTHING about illinois politics surprises me. i'm sure people were up in arms over it, but daley isn't running for president. i don't have children, not in illinois any longer and i have to say i don't know enough about the program to say much of anything about it, however, aside from curing cancer, it's damn near impossible for a terrorist to redeem himself. think what you want about that, that's just how i feel about people setting bombs. warning phone calls or not. actually, the idea of this guy "taking care" of children made me puke in my mouth a little
i am absolutely outraged two murderers were pardoned. how could any feeling, reasonable human being not be? i was trying desperately to stay on the obama topic, i have trouble staying on topic (yes, there is shame, but i do what i can) ;) and from what i understand the rules are pretty strict about it. i should have responded, yes, it's reprehensible.
what exactly unjustifiable thing am i trying to justify? what double standard am i trying to uphold?
Montreal-guy, a bunch of Republicans acting all sanctimonious... theyre not interested in facts, just slurring Obama and trying to convince everyone else.......typical tools.
nice one, way to resort to name calling. try acting your age, if you have nothing to better post but that don 't hit submit

Again, lack of research alert.
Ayers was never charged with anything, even after surrendering himself the the authorities.
The only people killed by Weathermen bombs were the people making them. They were known for phoning in warnings to prevent any deaths in their attacks.
President Clinton pardoned two convicted Weathermen killers of a Brink's guard, and two policemen - one's who also made bombs they were intending to detonate.
Look it up.
he also said that he didn't do enough, when referring to bombing. he also spoke of what a great country it was that he could hide underground for 10 years and not be caught. sick.
about people being killed by the bombs they were making - thank god
In 1995, State Senator Alice Palmer introduced her chosen successor, Barack Obama, to a few of the district’s influential liberals at the home of two well known figures on the local left: William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.
While Ayers and Dohrn may be thought of in Hyde Park as local activists, they’re better known nationally as two of the most notorious — and unrepentant — figures from the violent fringe of the 1960s anti-war movement.
Now, as Obama runs for president, what two guests recall as an unremarkable gathering on the road to a minor elected office stands as a symbol of how swiftly he has risen from a man in the Hyde Park left to one closing in fast on the Democratic nomination for president.
“I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.”
Obama and Palmer “were both there,” he said.
Obama’s connections to Ayers and Dorhn have been noted in some fleeting news coverage in the past. But the visit by Obama to their home — part of a campaign courtship — reflects more extensive interaction than has been previously reported.
Neither Ayers nor the Obama campaign would describe the relationship between the two men. Dr. Young described Obama and Ayers as “friends,” but there’s no evidence their relationship is more than the casual friendship of two men who occupy overlapping Chicago political circles and who served together on the board of a Chicago foundation.
you just kinda proved my point. he sought out ayers for political reasons. he attended wright's church for political reasons.
political hack. nice guy, notwithstanding
honestly, the reasons i don't want to vote for him is because he'll raise taxes and has no viable energy plan. that is enough for me

i never said obama wasn't a nice guy. i have no trouble believing his harvard classmates thought so.
is being a nice guy enough to be president? i don't think so.
my point was this, he knew what the church was about. you can say wright made these statements infrequently and the media has twisted everything and i believe that. however, you would have to be extremely naive to believe obama didn't know what wright's agenda had been the entire time he went to this church.
i went to a southern baptist church when i was a kid. never once was homosexuality mentioned in a sermon but i KNEW what the church thought of it. i left when i turned 18. obama is a smart, smart guy. smarter than me, i don't mind admitting. he knew. he didn't care. that's his constituency, he wanted those ultra liberal votes. it's the same thing with ayers. the exact same thing. i don't believe there is any true affection between obama and wright and obama and ayers, but i guarantee ayers and wright will exploit their relationship with obama for their 15 minutes of fame. wright already is, much to his discredit
wright and ayers have assassinated obama's character more than clinton and especially more than mccain, he hasn't said anything and won't say anything about it.
now, all that being said wright has every right in the world to preach what he wants, feel and believe what he wants, this is still america. i don't, however, think our next president should think of someone like that as their "spiritual mentor"
just my opinion

obama is a political hack. i can't believe he's dumb enough to have actually attended the church for 20 years and not have known what it was about. i refuse to believe he actually believes the crap wright stands for. i just really, really don't want to believe it.
so really, political hackery is all that's left
he joined the church because he wanted those type of left wing votes. fine. i guess. but i thought he was all about change and new directions? same old anything for a vote if you ask me. it's the same reason he ever hooked up with the terrorist, william ayers.
wright now will sell millions of copies of his book, whereas before, he couldn't. the guy WILL NOT shut up and go away. obama's camp handled it badly from the beginning.
if you ask me, they'd both kill each other with sporks given half a chance.
will it hurt obama's chances? polls say yes. personally, i think the company you keep does have a lot to do with being president. also, i think more and more is going to come out about obama the closer we get to november. really, we know next to nothing about the guy

i don't know much about cars,so i can't definitively say you're right or wrong. however, what i've come across says otherwise. there was a guy who drove a non e-85 SUV on pure ethanol for 105 thousand miles. they took the engine apart after to see if there was any damage and there wasn't. since ethanol burns cleaner, the engine was actually in better shape. brazil is running half their cars on pure ethanol with no modifications.
maybe if you could explain why it wouldn't work, it would be easier to understand.
we definitely should not be using corn for fuel. did you know other countries are cutting down the rain forest to plant more corn? it just makes more sense to use what you don't need but have a lot of locally.
when i said hydrogen,i meant dirty hydrogen. i should have made that more clear. my apologies. like i said, google roy mcallister.

I'm sure he doesn't.
um...ok. let me try to break that down for you.
i have a job, i make money. 'k, still with me?
therefore, i make financial desicions with my boyfriend, as well as share household chores with him. he doesn't feel threatened by that. in fact, he welcomes it.
do you need me to slow down? hope not
without trying to be too cliche i can indeed bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan and never ever let him forget he's a man.
you can't. you're "confused" i can help you no further. go read a book, watch CNN....SOMETHING!!!!!

Posted:

i paid $2.99 this weekend and hated it.
so...lately i've been doing research on ethanol. there are a couple of problems. first, burning corn is stupid. don't use your food as fuel. food costs goup and you won't save any money on the fuel that way. use what's in abundance that's close to you. here in st. louis it's grass clippings and wood chips, probably the same for a lot of places.
i've read you can run any car on 50% ethanol. still makes me nervous. you can buy a converter for about $300-$400. your gas mileage will go down unless you change the way your spark plugs work (i believe, i'd really have to look at that again) which can be done but you can't go back to gasoline.
and let's be real. this whole energy bill was done for the iowa caucus. using corn makes the farmers happy, but not the rest of us. dems have put a 54 cents per gallon tax on ethanol from brazil. they are basically forcing us back to oil.
i say use hydrogen. can be done easily and safely. google roy mcallister. very very interesting.

All that says is that YOU are not confused. Good for you.
But I myself have seen a lot of evidence of uncertainty and confusion where gender roles are concerned, especially with men. It has been difficult for some men--not all men--to adjust to the changing dynamics of the workplace, the family unit, the male/female relationship. It has made many men feel unnecessary, which is very, very sad.
And, women who aspire to get married and have children are no longer seen in such a favorable light--in many social circles/regions, the woman who wants to be a homemaker is looked down upon. In fact, it has become standard for women to minimize the fact that they want to start a family because that particular aspiration might be seen as needy. Something which used to be viewed as admirable and a given is now viewed as somehow weak or ignorant or dependent. That adds confusion to gender roles, too.
Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.
yes, very good for me. and everyone i know. i work with men who have no issue with my femaleness, my boyfriend has no issue with me working and being a live in girlfriend. seriously, you would have to be retarded to have not caught up yet. women have been working and raising families for a long time now.
i couldn't imagine coming home from a full day's work, seeing dirty dishes in the sink and wandering around saying, duh.....what do i do? am i a bread winner or a caregiver. thank god i'm not that stupid. i do the smart thing. wash the dishes and move on or watch the man do it.
if that makes men feel unnecessary, chances are the same type of man would feel unnecessary no matter what the situation. that's a physchological problem, not a woman's
if some woman down the street has an opinion on whether or not i want children, well i really don't care. why would anyone care? again, thank god i'm not that stupid.
rollrgrrl...
I came from a long line of very strong and tough females. In the country life, that was essential and respected. Women today who exhibit strength, intelligence and are no nonsense like my mother and my grandmother are treated as ball-bashers et al. Read the threads about that. I have that way about me, too. It intimidates men.
Girls and women today are being tough in non-productive ways. Trying to be like "guys". Talk like them, swagger like them, drink beer like them, swear like them, have sex like them, be violent and aggressive like them....
What they haven't learned is that women have awesome power.
You are just a bit older than my kids. Your perception is like theirs.
sorry to bust your theory, but i'm not much of a drinker. i've never been treated as a ball-buster either, maybe they weren't doing it right. i don't know. i don't have to swagger, the power and strength i have is real.
glad to see your children see things more the way i do. they should see that they don't have to be anything more than they are to have a good relationship or land a job. women don't have to play meek and dumb to do those things. did you not get the memo??

i used to live in an area that had a lot of apple and peach orchards. high school kids and college kids were gagging for jobs at the orchards. boyfriend owns a pizza joint and he loses kids all the time to construction jobs.
i know a guy who paid for his college education with his lawn mowing business.

oh please.
my maternal grandfather was my grandmother's second husband. my father and grandmother were living alone in australia, she unmarried. she didn't move to the US until my dad was 5 and finally married my grandfather. this all happened in the 40s
my oldest sister was an oops baby my boyfriend had similar "scandals" in his family.
those things just weren't talked about. we have so much better access to information now than we did 50 years ago. but believe it, they happened.
also, if you don't think there were aggressive, dominant and in charge women in times past, you're nuts. my grandmother and mother definitely wore the pants in the family. my boyfriend is of sicilian heritage and said the same thing. he said all of the sicilian women he knew were the same.
i also don't see the confusion about gender roles. these days, two incomes are necessary. single women work to survive. how is that confusing? it doesn't get much more basic and simple than that.

ok let's look at this logically.
if it was as easy as taking a pill, would there be any overweight people STILL trying to lose weight? would there be people going through the pain and expense of gastric bypass or liposuction?
no, there wouldn't. really now, common sense.
people desperately want to believe they work, but they don't.
eating right, exercising and maintaining a positive outlook regarding your insides and out are the only things that work.

i have a company matched 401k. my contributions come out pre-tax, like my health insurace and flex spending account. i'm saving money there.
it's matched by my employer 100% of the first 3% i put in. when i needed liquid funds to pay for a semester of school, i took a loan out on it and paid the interest back to myself.
i really don't see the scam. i've had a 401k since i was 22. i'll continue to stuff money in it because i have more faith in elvis being alive and well than i do in social security

anyone who supports this idea or would actually buy one, is sick.
like mentioned above there are millions of great animals in shelters who need a home. many die horribly because they have nowhere to go.
many idiots, who should take the place of these tortured animals, refuse to get pets fixed. many more can't get it through their thick skulls what kind of commitment a pet actually is, how long they live
we're talking about living, feeling things. not play toys
i'd be more likely to support genetic egineering of babies if we could breed out stupidity and selfishness

FREE Federalized Health Care
Posted:

What makes you think a managed care beaurocracy is somehow "cheaper" and more "efficient" then a govt. program?.
oh my. i can't believe someone would have to ask this. please, give me one gov't office that runs smoothly and efficiently.
private schools spend less money per student for a much better education, i recently went through a name change and it took 6 months for illinois to get me my new birth certificate, someone mentioned earlier the post office (good god!) i got my bill for property taxes a few days later i got a letter saying they were incorrect and a new bill was coming...it never came. FFS! these people should NEVER have a say in my or my loved ones health care decisions.
i have experienced far more frustrations with gov't run offices than my insurance company

FREE Federalized Health Care
Posted:

the very idea of not having the option of buying private insurance is scary. had knee surgery this past year. all in all it was not a bad experience. i went to the dr. and he scheduled the MRI that day. I had the surgery within a week. i paid about $450 including the physical therapy.
if i'd had to wait 182 for relief i could see 182 days of being off work and not paid. i could barely walk up stairs after my injury.
i wouldn't mind universal healthcare if i had the option to buy my own private care. everyone ****es and complains about the gov't but still wants to put their very lives in the gov't's hands?
makes no sense to me

where i think the police are screwing up is, lori drew (crazy mother) had admitted to having sexual conversations with megan while posing as josh evans. don't they catch pedophiles that way?
folks around here are about to run the drew's out on a rail. names, addresses and phone numbers are on every blog and nearly every post on CL's rants and raves. these people don't have a choice but to leave and they deserve everything they get. even if megan had not killed herself, lori drew is a predator and should be NOWHERE near children

my dad was born and raised in australia, i was breifly engaged to a man from york and i've been to europe several times.
i've found that deep down, we're mostly the same. the biggest challenges seem to be what they eat!
i don't care how much i love a guy, i won't eat black pudding. then there is the annoying not politely stepping to the right on a crowded street that europeans do!
people are people we all have the same basic needs. it's really a shame more people can't realize that.

Police taser guy who won't shut up at Kerry rally

ok seriously, what were the police supposed to do? you have a crazed person, getting violent with the police that close to a political figure!!!
they HAD to stop him. by any means necessary!
the students were NOT apathetic, the video i saw, not sure what some of you were watching, they applauded as the police were trying to escort him out.
prince andrew came to where i worked about 3-4 years ago. during his speech the electricity flickered. being in IT me and a co-worker jogged back to the server room, we were stopped by andy's security, they wanted to know where we were running to. fair enough, we told them, they let us go.
it's STUPID to think that security won't be heightened and all potential threats taken very seriously when a famous person/political figure is involved

Men living with their parents: A social taboo?

life's tough. you either learn to get by or you go home and live with your folks.
of course my dad would be there if i needed him, but i'm not about to move back home! i've been out on my own since i was 19, i've been downsized, been divorced and lost everything and i still haven't gone back. i say suck it up and be a responsible self-supporting human.
my dad and i have a fantastic adult child/father relationship, i'm not going to take advantage of that. however, if he was ill or needed me in any way, he could move in tomorrow

bless your heart.
my ex did something similar to me. he kept showing up at places he knew i would be. it did eventually stop, however it made things rough for awhile.
i agree with the poster who said not to try to figure out the whys. you probably will never know hs true motives and it's probably for the best.
good luck

What does it mean to the girl if you marry her with your own mother's wedding band ?
Posted:

i think it's a sweet idea. it wouldn't bother me at all, in fact, if the inlaws trusted me with it i can't see anything but good feelings coming from that
also, i find it a bit silly people questioning the sentiment and tradition of it. what could possibly be more sentimental or traditional??

even if she was normal and not an internet scam, i'd still not accept the call.
several years ago, before i got a cell phone i had to call my friend collect. she accepted. actually i called twice on the same day. she got slammed! she ended up with two $43 charges for calls that were no longer than a few minutes.
it's all perfectly legal too, or at least it was then.
i felt bad and we split the bill

When Cops attack - what's your opinion?
Posted:

i have no issue with the police. however, st. george cops are USELESS! the chief of police in st. george used to work for another municipality and was fired for sexually harassing a teenager he pulled over!
st. george then hires him as chief? that's insane
st. george is a tiny two mile stretch of a speed trap. EVERYONE in st. louis knows st. george. i have been pulled over more than once there, my fault, i accept that. i think the noteriety of st. george police is starting to go to the officers heads

Are women marketable after age 30?
Posted:
9/13/2007 6:13:33 PM
i think this question is similar to "do men like blondes or brunettes better"
it's all about preferences. i have not noticed a difference in my ability to get dates than i did ten years ago. i make smarter choices, that's for sure. i'm definitely more picky, but i guess that would only bother the type of man that i would not choose.
if a creepy old guy in his late thirties, forties, fifties and up thinks i'm too old....so be it. chances are that's not the type of man i would want.
so really, it all works out
you're going to have your guys who need the ego boost, want someone to squirt out 15,000 babies to help them prove their manhood, or want to brag to their friends.
you're going to have guys that don't think that way.
i believe we're all covered.

i don't know if blame is a good word for it. both are responsible. unfortunately not nearly enough parents (both men and women) act responsible
i just don't understand deadbeat parents. quite honestly i am sick and tired of supporting your **stards.
don't want kids, can't afford kids, too irresponsible and lazy to support them? don't have them. pretty simple

People that don't have~nor EVER want kids..what do you think?
Posted:

yes some people like you should not have the gift of children and be lonely in old age...that is your choice not to have family... but don't grow up like my aunt when you get old and resent that you have no one who loves you... cause you will.... all of a sudden you will be in your 60's... no children or grand babies... no family and feel sorry for yourself .... no sympathy... you don't want children... fine... don't knock normal people who think of the future.... children are gods gifts... you were when you were born.... respect that and stop knocking normal people for wanting a normal family life of love
this has to be the most stupid reason to have kids

Senate refuses to raise minimum wage.
Posted:

designing, i think your ideas are very noble. misguided, but noble.
i'm not sure what you mean by "living level" but i'm thinking $10 plus. if i'm wrong, please correct me. raising minimum wage that much all of the sudden would be a very very bad idea, that's why it hasn't happened. i can't understand how you can't see how a small business could support that.
you say things like there will be more money to spend on the business owner's goods, fine ok, but how long will that take? how long can a business owner pay from his own pocket before he throws up his hands and closes the doors forever? one pay period? two? then where are all the people spending more? they're out of work.
forcing someone to pay me more would not bring dignity to my work. EARNING more money would.
if someone is stuck at minimum wage forever, there is something wrong with them. not the gov't or their employer

9/11 and how you experienced it ( personal stories)
Posted:

i was at work reading another posting board i frequent (i am a nerd, i know) someone posted about what happened but the details weren't clear. it was rumor madness!!
people saying the sears tower in chicago was hit. from what people were saying a lot of other people thought all major cities were being attacked.
people were leaving the office to go get gas before the prices jumped
we all finally got the story, watched the towers fall. a lot of people cried.
i went home for lunch, got a big bowl of ice cream and watched the news.

i didn't think i could get a good answer on how small businesses would be able to keep the same amount of employees working the same amount of hours if the raised minimum wage considerably.
my boyfriend does own a pizza place. he's not a wealthy CEO by any stretch of the imagination. minimum wage went up seventy five cents an hour. most of his employees were hired at more than minimum wage so it wasn't a huge deal for him. however he had 2 or 3 sh1t employees making minimum wage. the increase came and they didn't deserve more money so he fired them. the cost would have been too great for him to keep them
he works more hours and does it without complaint. watching his labor costs is very important. why should he work more hours for less money? should he work for free so his employees, who don't have half the hustle he does, can make $10/hour? should he do it just for the joy of it and because the world needs pizza?
i don't think anyone understands the costs involved in running a business. i find it a little cute (and slightly scary) that people would think that because mr. happy's hardware store isn't the next home depot is because mr. happy is a poor businessman. chances are he's been in business for decades and provides jobs and taxes for his community.
does anyone realize that collectively, small businesses employ more people than large businesses do? so what happens when all these people get their hours cut or lose their jobs? how is that good for the economy? has anyone realized what the higher costs of goods and services would do to middle class people who do not get an increase in pay?
i understand feeling for people who have to work jobs at minimum wage. i more than triple missouri's minimum wage and i couldn't imagine making that much less. however, if the cost of groceries went up, gas goes up, the occassional pizza goes up, i might as well be making minimum wage.
minimum wage should go up over time, that would happen for those employees naturally.
now all that being said.................
can anyone explain what a small business owner would do if minimum wage went up to an obscene $10 an hour?

wolves - with all due respect, don't you think it's a bad idea to get involved with and marry someone who does not share your desire to have children? that's a pretty big issue.
people who decide no to have children are not selfish, self centered or shallow. i think that kind of short sighted thinking leads to bad parenting, myself. would you be that judgemental of your childrens choices? would you even let them make their own choices?
i decided not to have children and probably the biggest factor was that there are too many children in this world that have no one. i'm not going to pop out more when could adopt. i don't see why anyone does. arrogance? pride? who knows
