Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud
Posted: 11/20/2005 6:08:01 AM
Might want to add another site to that list... or it should be added. www.seaoflove.com
See below:

Here's the message I received on my Yahoo! Personals account:

"I'm writing this one time to tell you I don't use this account anymore. But I always check my messages over at www.seaoflove.com. They just started and they're offering free memberships. I'd love to chat with you there. It's a really nice and unique place. Lots of cool art and animation and REALLY good features. Message me there.

Kat
at Sea Of Love"

Then, I discovered SeaofLove.com has a "Webmaster Affiliate" program which probably explains why people are receiving these "friendly" emails...

http://www.seaoflove.com/affiliates/index.html

"The earning potential is endless. We have webmasters earning several thousand dollars each month just from promoting SeaOfLove.com. Webmasters continue to send us their traffic because it works! The amount you earn is up to you. The more traffic you send, the more money you will make. We supply you the tools you need to succeed. You can choose from banner ads, text ads, or email campaigns when you sign up."

add to this :

From their current terms of service (emphasis added):

"It should be understood that from time to time Sea Of Love, may monitor your profile. This may be done many ways but not limited to a representative of Sea Of Love, using a fictional character, whom may send you one or more correspondence. If you have any questions about this practice, though very rarely used, feel free to ask for details. These measures are used to investigate reports of abuse and harassment among other situations and you should also understand that these fictional correspondence are indistinguishable from real correspondences."

While the fictional correspondence referred to in the terms of service is for a good cause, it does show that they are willing to fake messages. I wonder whether the emails we received are real or shill messages?

Clearly, both Yahoo and Seaoflove are to be avoided. Thank you POF.

Angelicpassion..Thanks for the Pepper Steak recipe. It sounds almost as hot as you ;) Below you can find a couple of cheesecake recipes I use ( perhaps you might use them as dessert :).

Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake

**Crust**
2/3 cup butter or margerine ( I use butter ), 3 cups graham cracker crumbs, 4 tbsp. white sugar, 4 tbsp. cocoa.

**Filling**
3 8 ounce packages cream cheese, 1 cup white sugar, 3 tbsp. all purpose flour, 5 eggs, 1 tbsp. vanilla, 1 cup sour cream.

Reserved cheesemixture + 2 squares unsweetened chocolate squares, melted.

Crust: Melt butter in saucepan or in microwave ( about 40 seconds on high but this depends on your microwave oven ). In a small bowl mix graham cracker crumbs, 4 tbsp, white sugar and 4 tbsp cocoa. Combine these then add the melted butter/margarine and continue to combine. Once fully blended, pour into a large springform pan and press. Bake at 350 degrees for around 7-8 minutes.

Filling: Beat cream cheese ( I find it best to nuke the cream cheese first for about 2-3 minutes... makes it softer ), 1 cup sugar, and 3 tbsp. flour in mixing bowl until blended. Beat in eggs, then add vanilla and sour cream. Reserve 1 cup of the mixture. Pour remaining mixture over crumbs in springform pan. Mix resevred cheesemixture with melted chocolate. DRizzle over top of cheesemixture in pan. Cut through batter in a zig zag motion to get the swirl effect. Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour. Serves 12.

Cherry cheesecake

Crust: 2/3 cup butter or margerine ( I use butter ), 3 cups graham cracker crumbs

Filling: 2 pkg. Cream cheese softened, 2 cups white sugar, 2 tbsp. lemon juice, two envelopes whipped topping, 1 cup milk, 1 19 oz. can of cherry pie filling.

Crust: Melt butter and pour into a small bowl contasining the graham cracker crumbs. Press mixture into bottom of a large springform pan and bake 7-8 minutes at 350 degrees.

Filling: Beat cheese, sugar, and lemon juice together to dissolve sugar
Whip topping with milk as package directs until stiff.. Fold into cheese mixture and spread over base. Chill. Spread cherry filling over top. Chill. Serves 12.

Hope everyone enjoys :)

I might have just made a huge mistake..help!!

OKay, please bear in mind that this is just my two cents, your mileage may vary. With that being said, here goes.
1) I must commend you on your amateur detective work
2) Sounds like the guy showed his true self to your " alter ego "
3) It's a normal reaction to feel angry in this situation. People normally get angry when they've been hurt, as I can imagine you feel
4) I'd suggest you dump the guy. Once a cheater, always a cheater. If he'd be willing to cheat online, most likely, he'd do the same in real life and you're much better off without him.
Personally, I think people who cheat should be tied to the rear bumber of the car and dragged up and down the railroad tracks a few times ( followed by an iodine shower, but this is up to you :) ).

Has anyone ever been dumped via email?

Just my two cents worth but, e-mail or over the phone, both seem kinda cowardly to me.

I think Cherokee51465 is right. You can't expect a good looking woman to have stayed in a glass jar until you came along. Most likely she's had many more dates than you have even thought of having and, more than likely, she has settled down with at least one person by the time she is in her mid twenties. To expect a good looking lady to reach my age ( 40 ) and *not* have at least one child would be unrealistic imho. Just my two cents. Your mileage may vary.

Cheers,
Koolnite
