Were the 60's good for us?

I think the liberals (I consider myself one it shouldn't be a dirty word) in the sixties shoved a lot of changes down the country's throat. Many of which they weren't ready for. In my opinion, today's Republican party is still a reaction to this.
In a similiar way, Bush didn't seem to care that he won the election by the slimmest of margins, and acted like he was the dictator of the country. He didn't care about public opinion, which eventually has cost his party its' power.
For those that are elated over the result of the election, remember that nearly have of the country voted for John McCain. Take a look at cnn and see the state maps where they have county by county votes. Take a state like New York, one of the most liberal in the country. Yet if you went by land area, nearly half of the state's residents voted for McCain. If you look at Indiana, people living on about 90% of the land voted for McCain. Our country is still seriously divided, and the too rapid social changes of the sixties are too blame.

Minimum Wage
Posted:
11/5/2008 11:16:44 AM
Wrong, most CEO's making millions of dollars got there because they had a good stable upbringing (they got lucky not to get bad parents), they don't have any physical or mental problems (they didn't get unlucky), they are probably at least somewhat above average intelligence (they hit at least three numbers on the genetic lottery), and their family had the money and connections to get them a good job after graduation.
There are some stories out there of people who worked three jobs and eventually started their own business and grew to become millionaires, but they are the exception not the rule. However, a lot of these people don't realize their good fortune. Not everyone has the physical constitution to be able to work over eighty hours a week or even ten hours a day six days a week, which is what you have to do if you aren't given several breaks early on. I don't take money from anyone, and don't make minimum wage either, but for someone like me who has a chronic medical condition, becoming wealthy isn't easy.
Despite some handicaps, I've managed to earn a middle class lifestyle in my late twenties. So, a rise in the minimum wage wouldn't benefit me personally, in fact the modest increase in inflation would probably hurt me (although this is being overstated here, at least in the US the minimum wage has been so low that most successful businesses have plenty of room to maneuver), but I can't help but feel compassion for those that will never be able to go beyond being a salesclerk. Not everyone is going to be able to have the American dream of a house, two cars, and a nice vacation every year. However, being able to pay rent, own a decent used car, not have to worry about the grocery bill, and be able to put a few bucks in the bank every month should be available to anyone that's willing to work fulltime.

What is the right war?
Posted:

War should be for defense only. Afghanistan was a right war because its government harbored terrorists that had bombed our nation. Iraq and Vietnam were "wrong wars" because they had not attacked us in any way.
I disagree with Obama that we should get involved in Darfur unless the government of Sudan either attacks us directly or harbors terrorists that attack us. While it may be selfish, there seems to be just as many negatives as there are benefits when we intervene in a sovereign nation's territories.

What is so bad about dying anyway?
Posted:
10/2/2008 7:02:30 PM
I'm afraid of terminal cancer, because I've seen too many people waste away in terrible pain. As far as I'm concerned, I would just shoot myself in the head if I ever was diagnosed, but I think my family might not appreciate that response. So I might have to suffer through, and to be honest that scares me.
As far as death itself, if I were to somehow pass away in my sleep at my tender age, that would be fine with me. I don't believe in an everlasting hell, to me that doesn't make sense for a loving God. I'm not Catholic, but their philosophy makes good sense to me. So I think either I'll go to heaven or I'll be unconscious never to awake again.
Are you afraid of falling asleep? That's all death likely is, except you don't do the whole waking up thing. And if there's a heaven then so much the better.

Is America the BEST Country in the World?

Well, if quality of life for the average person is important, America is definitely not number 1. I would choose one of the Scandanavian countries which have higher median incomes, longer vacations, free healthcare, good old age pensions etc.

Let's not get too mushy over what blacks today go through. Go to the inner city and see some of these schools. Everyone is eager to fire or blame teachers, but most would be thrilled if a class showed respect and listened. If most white students put forth the same amount of effort NOT to learn, whites would eventually become the new underclass. Of course that has already happened to an extent as Asians earn more and have higher degrees on average.
Of course Obama is cut from a different cloth, and it would be a grievous mistake if we let a pastor he associated himself with prevent us from voting for the more intelligent progressive candidate.

You repubs are pathetic. Able to dish it out, but can't take the same being done to you. Republicans have been showing for years that they subscribe to the "ends justify the means", so if the Democrats do the same and are able to win, I say good for them.

I don't like how these scientists have decided to do something even with a small degree of possible danger without consulting the rest of us, or at least getting an agreement from the majority of the world governments. That said, if I die suddenly from this so be it, I imagine if the earth turns into a black hole we won't have a lot of time to think about it.

Why is animal euthenasia ok, but human isn't?
Posted:
9/10/2008 4:38:49 AM
I've known more than a few people who've died of cancer, and although many of them are eager to fight it early on, after they are down to 80 pounds and its clear they can't win, many are okay with dying. Often, the family is the one forcing them to continue to "fight". I think this is cruel of the family, no matter how much they love their Dad.
Someone mentioned the religious implications, I think you have to consider that we have been for many years been "playing god", by using extraordinary methods ie machine breathing, feeding tubes, etc to keep people alive. I'm not saying an otherwise healthy 50 year old person who happens to get a tumor should be put down. However, if it spreads and nothing is working, if they want to keep fighting, good for them. But I think they should have the option to end their life if they so please. If they have kids and there is any chance of recovery then they themselves have to weigh the ethics and morality of the situation, but not others.
A lot seem to think the comparison with animals is silly, but the excuse for putting animals down is usually to end their suffering. There are some wealthy people out ther who would be willing to spend tens of thousands on their pet. But people seem to be more realistic with their animals, knowing that if their dog has poor eyesight, arthritis and cancer, its probably selfish to force the dog to keep on living. With humans we seem to lack such perspective. Certainly, I agree with what Holland is doing, and from what I've read they are not taking physician assisted suicide lightly.
I saw a movie where a gay guy had AIDS and decided to commit suicide rather than wait for the disease to ravage his body. He had a going away party and was able to say goodbye to all his friends and relatives and then committed suicide. While some of his friends were upset with his decision, it seemed to be more sensible, especially considering what his friends would feel when they would have seen him covered with sores, emaciated etc, had he decided to fight. (It was and older movie before all these miracle drugs for HIV).

I read this story about how zoo officials decided to euthanize a gorilla with a stomach tumor, but a human would have surely endured months of chemo before succumbing. Anyone see Tammy Faye before she died? I give her credit she seemed relatively positive even though she looked like a skeleton in her last interview. But I don't know why we force people to try to live a few months more, when just taking a quick injection would end things much more pleasantly.
I hope attitudes will change on this before I get older.

The Upcoming Election.... IN CANADA!

It sounds unfortunate that Canada is so affected by the American election. Canada is more progressive and has a much smaller role in international affairs, so I would think the two elections should stand on their own.

No, he's not too old. Let's stick to the issues fellow Democrats. We don't need silly attacks on things like McCains' age or Palins' daughter. I believe we have a superior vision for America, and I think we should win and run on that. Leave the personal attacks to Karl Rove.

The last time Republicans accused Democrats of Inexperience
Posted:
9/3/2008 4:45:41 PM
As a Democrat and someone interested in history, I disagree with the sentiments of this thread. I think Nixon is somewhat like Bill Clinton in that his personal failings have for many overshadowed his achievements as president. Nixon was far more responsible than Reagan for ending the cold war. The Soviet Union was already beggining to liberalize by the time Reagan came along, and it was only a matter of time before the enevitable happened. Don't forget he opened China as well. (In the long run may not be good for us, but I doubt he planned for all our factories to go there.)
Socially, he was far more moderate than current Republicans, and helped to continue what had been started with the Civil Rights bill. He also had a tax code that was far less biased towards the rich than what we currently have. If he didn't have such a thirst for power and had been more ethical, he could have gone down in history as a great president. Personally, I think Bush has a greater case for impeachment than Nixon did.

Abortion Rights As Election Issue - The Truth
Posted:
8/31/2008 11:45:19 AM
Good old neocons, always bringing up wedge issues which ironically will not even change if there candidate is elected. You know I'm a Democrat, but I do agree with some of the traditional Republican ideals. I'm for reducing government spending, no illegal immigration, pro death penalty, and I would support significantly curtailing abortion. I don't think we should return to back alley doctors, but we can definitely get rid of partial birth, (how many of these are really performed though?) and we should work on reducing them.
Let's look at what's happened in my lifetime though. I was born in 1980. We've had 20 years of Republican adminstrations, complete with candidates that ran and won in part based on their anti-abortion stance. They also won by criticizing the "tax and spend" Democrats. Yet, abortion remains as legal as ever, and record deficits have occured under our Republican friends. Reagan presided over our biggest amnesty of illegal aliens, and Bush has done little to resolve this issue. Oh, let's not forget our Republican friends support for welfare which they love to criticize the "libs" for. I'm referring to corporate welfare of course.
Basically, the Republicans use the conservatives in this country to get into office and then they do what they can to take our countries' wealth and reduce our freedoms. I really could care less what a candidate supposedly "believes" in. They're not running for church deacon, they're supposed to be running our country. Action is what counts.
I trust the Democrats will avoid war if possible, try to balance the budget, support the working man more than the wealthy, and that's enough for me. I may disagree with the Democrats on some of the wedge issues such as gay marriage, but I don't believe they are particularly important. If two men want to marry, I'm not sure that's a step in the right direction for our country, but its a heck of a lot better than starting needless wars and killing thousands of children and adult civilians. And no, killing a fetus that cannot walk and talk and reason is not as grievous of a crime as this.

I think Obama is Bungling McCain's
[Thread Closed/No Clear OT]
Posted:
8/21/2008 3:13:31 PM
It's a perfect opportunity for Obama, but I think he's going about it the wrong way. Making him out to be an elitist just isn't going to play because of his background of war service. And since it sounds like the number of houses is either four or five, not twenty, I think it shows how McCain simply is unfit (mentally) for president. Obama should play it as "If he can't keep track of his houses, how can he keep track of the country?"
This would dovetail nicely with his answer on the economy "I don't know much about it." Also his bursting into song when asked about attack Iran "Bomb, bomb, bomb Bomb Iran." Anyway McCain is making tons of mistakes, Obama has too, but McCain's could be used against him more in a good strong negative campaign.
Obama will lose if he doesn't go for the jugular imho. I don't know why democrats also want to be the nice party and "above the fray." The important thing is winning. Being nice can wait for later. And no, I don't think calling someone an elitist is a strong attack, when they clearly are a millionaire, and most Americans already know this.

Why cant Obama seem to attain the leads Kerry did?
Posted:

McCain did NOT in any way win that debate. I don't care if your conservative newsmedia said he did, that's certainly not what I saw. And I will give credit where it's due, even if it is to the opposition.
McCain gave short canned answers that he thought (correctly) the audience wanted to hear, and then looked like a pleased puppy when he got the applause. ("uh-Conception") *cue phony grin* Wow, real impressive. I like how he wanted to focus more on what America needed to do to improve its shortcomings, and didn't really explain what his own were. (He knew he'd lose a lot of votes if people realized what a scumbag he was.)
OK conservatives wake up! What is our main problem today? These guys with the towels on their heads can be handled by the FBI and the CIA we don't need more wars. We need to fix the economy. McCain himself said he "doesn't know much about the economy" and if that's what voters main interest were, they might have to vote for someone else! He graduated second to last in his naval class. Do we really need another dummy as president?
Americans need to get their heads out of their ass and stop voting for who they'd prefer to have a beer with, and start thinking about who's actually intelligent enough to run the damn country. Giving a short certain answer may sound like the good ole boy that gives you the good strong handshake, but in a politician all it represents is a lack of imagination.

Re: Why do some men act interested, then pull back?
Posted:

Very simple answer to this question actually. Most of the time, they probably had more than one iron in the fire, and the preferred interest ended up panning out, so you got dropped. I've done this several times and although if I could do things over I'd try to be even more sensitive, I think it is bound to happen. Up until 5 dates or so I don't think there's an assumption of exclusivity, it's just a getting to know each other phase. And I would pretend to have a good time no matter how bad I actually thought the date was going just to avoid unpleasantness. Go for the simple answer with men and you'll probably stumble across the right answer.

College presidents seek drinking age debate ???
Posted:
8/20/2008 6:31:01 AM
A human's brain is not finished developing at 21 either, I'm 28 so I can remember 21 pretty well, and emotionally my brain certainly hadn't reached complete maturity.
As far as this "having been tried before in the seventies", I was born later, but I believe that in the seventies was when this rediculous age was first raised. I totally agree with the college presidents. I remember in college all the time kids talking about how they were going to "drink until they puked." I went to a small school of about 1800 students, and at least 1 student died every year due to alcohol.
European youths who have much easier access to alcohol, did not have this attitude towards drinking. So, I think there are two reasons why American students drink so much. The mystery or "forbidden" aspect of it, and secondly the fact that if you're underage it may not easily be available later. I still remember security bursting in my freshman year and confiscating my half liter of vodka that I was in the middle of drinking. Of course, I kept drinking, but in the future I might have pounded my shots a bit faster because I didn't want to risk losing a bunch of good liquor. The bars/clubs would get raided too sometimes, which would make people lay low for awhile, and then naturally they probably partied harder when things seemed to have quieted down.
I still have drank less since becoming 21 than I did before it. Wasn't so much fun anymore when I didn't need to use my fake maybe.

Fighting question
Posted:
8/20/2008 5:51:14 AM
You shouldn't care if the woman will be impressed either way. The only thing worth thinking about is the situation worth fighting for? If you got an ***hole neighbor stealing your stuff and the cops won't do anything, probably worth fighting for. A guy in a bar calls you a faggot- probably not worth fighting over.
The main thing I always thought about fighting is, will I ever see this person again? A lot of unecessary fights can be avoided if you think about this for a minute.

Ugly Guys

Ugly guys only succeed with women very rarely. But, a lot of guys say they are ugly and they are averaged looking and thats totally a different story. Once women get out of high school/college most are accepting of average looks particularly if personality and responsibility are there.
Don't buy the hype though, "Mystery" and a whole host of his minions couldn't save some guys.

Teased for liking bbw's
Posted:
8/11/2008 1:32:46 AM
It's not gross at all, BBW's are often very sexy! I'm not the best looking guy in the world, so I might feed the stereotype of guys that are interested in BBW's but honestly even if I looked like Brad Pitt I still wouldn't be interested in skinny women. Someone like Angela Jolie holds no appeal to me, even though she does have a pretty face.
I like women usually 170 pounds and up, there's something sexy about big thighs, curvy calves and a nice round butt. No disrespect to thin women, I'm thin myself, but personally I don't know what guys get excited about with a 110 pound woman who (usually) has little to no curves.
Anyway, its good there's a diversity of opinion, but frankly I'm sick of thin being shoved down my throat. I can't think of one hollywood actress that I would consider attractive, because they're all forced to starve themselves. Renee Zelwegger was starting to look good in Bridget Jones, but of course she had to turn into a skeleton for Chicago.
For a skinny man like myself its actually easier to find a skinny woman, those are the only types who ever have hit on me, but I have a strong preference and so I have had to wait for openminded women who don't care if they outweigh their man. Life can be difficult that way with all the various preferences and non-negotiables people have, but the most important thing is to have your own mind and live your life as you see fit.

The truth about Fk-Buddies
Posted:
8/1/2008 12:29:40 PM
Sure some women go to the bars to just dance with their friends. But look at it from the guys point of view, especially younger guys. It would be pretty unusual for a guy to just want to dance with his friends, so it is a bit hard for our minds to grasp.
I'm a terrible pick up artist, but even I've been laid a few times from bar pickups. A lot of people do go out to bars, clubs, etc to get laid. It's not going to happen every Friday night, so you obviously need to enjoy where you going to be hanging out, but its certainly a motivation, at least with guys. Probably not so many people in their thirties and forties are doing this, but for your bars with younger crowds, this is quite typical.
I think I might know what the OP's describing, these women want someone to buy them a few drinks and go for a dance or two and they feign interest, but they really aren't. I had a woman do that once and then invite me to sit at a table with her boyfriend and female friend. That was pretty strange, but the boyfriend didn't seem to mind our little bump and grind. Anyway, I figured I just got used to get a few free drinks and didn't think about it too much. Strange stuff happens if you go out and get drunk enough.

Your thoughts on guys being virgins...
Posted:
7/24/2008 12:40:21 PM
I'd actually say probably half of guys or less actually lose it in their teens. Most of the guys I graduated from high school with most likely graduated a virgin. A few guys did get a lot of action, but most of us were left on the sidelines. I lived in a house with 24 guys my second year of college and it wasn't a geek house either it was a bunch of guys randomly thrown together. I forget exactly because its been awhile, but if I remember right 20 out of 24 didn't get laid all year! In college of all places. And I bet a good number of those guys were still virgins. I think my house did get a bit of bad luck between both the characters we had and the luck they had with women that particular year, but I was the shortest guy there and none of the guys were really hideous (myself excepted of course!)
Don't believe a word of bragging men do, they probably lost it years later than they claim, and probably have been with a 1/4 of the girls they claim. Anyway, 23 isn't a big deal, I wouldn't press losing it for a number of reasons which I'm sure you can think of. Getting laid once or twice isn't going to be that much difference than being a virgin anyway. Maybe I'm a slow learner but it took me quite a bit more times than that before really getting the hang of things where a woman might think I knew what I was doing.

Does good looks triumph every time?
Posted:
7/20/2008 4:28:01 PM
Read Catcher in the Rye, Salinger had a good take on this. A guy can be a real jerk but if he's a handsome **stard, the woman will come up with an excuse that its not his fault, or stems from something that happened to him earlier. I know its an old book that many were probably forced to read in high school, but it really holds its age well.
I'm not that old, but I was a pretty active dater for a time, and I would say that I wasted a lot of time chasing people that were out of my league looks wise. Then I would get so depressed, one girl even told me I didn't look like a real man, and this lack of self esteem caused me to sabotage relationships with 4's 5's and 6's who I would've been more than happy to date, but ended up missing signs and sometimes purposefully sabotaging things to make sure I'd get rejected. Of course a good deal of average girls rejected me too, so its probably easier now to look back on what was quite a difficult period.
I think being ugly is equivalent to applying for a job with a felony conviction that you were required to reveal. You're almost 100% getting rejected, and if the do hire you, its almost surely out of desperation.
My job has a lot of turnover, and since reading this Book mirror, mirror, I like to guess as soon as see them whether they will have contact with the opposite sex. I don't think I've ever been wrong in immediately guessing that they were single (the homelier ones) and the only that tripped me up was this one guy that was slightly above average I would say, but it took him over six months to find someone. But he was slightly socially awkward so that was likely part of it.
We've been sold a bill of goods over the years, looks are paramount. That doesn't mean someone with serious drug problems, those who physically abuse are going to stay in long term relationships because of their looks, but even after being kicked to the curb numerous times, they still have a better chance of a new relationship than a "good guy" or "good girl".
This sounds depressing and is to a certain extent, but I've also found it freeing. I know I meet up to very few women's physical standards, and while that hurts to a certain extent at least its not something I can change, nor something I can blame myself for. There's no perfect solution to someone in this boat, but for me I have found being extrememly openminded about women's looks is not only fair, but gives me better opportunities.

Obama leave the church.
Posted:

Forget Obama's church, if you like tax cuts for the rich (it does not trickle down and most of the really rich do not work as hard let alone harder than the average worker), if you like our soldiers being killed in the name of terrorism but actually to increase oil prices, than McCain's your guy. (Don't believe the media bs about China's increased demand being the reason for oil prices going up so high. It's part of it, but its not like everything wasn't "made in china" in 2002 before all this nonsense started.
Obama's church looks more like the Chris Rock show than a real church, but if you look at Obama's career up until now, he probably would have never had attained what he had without strengthening his "black" credentials. What are you white people so afraid of? If he takes all the money from the Iraq war and gives it to poor black men (highly unlikely) I'd be fine with it and I'm white. What I think is more likely is that he is the educated man he appears to be, and both his attendance and non-attendance of the Church of Christ were political moves. If you were expecting a politician to not be a politician, I'm guessing you stil believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny.

Short Vs Fat comments. Why does one seem less offensive?

A lot of people say you can always find shorter women, but am I the only short guy who was never interested in the really short women because I didn't want to make even shorter children? I know that sounds bad, but a lot of women reject men on that premise (I've heard them say such), and it's not that I am not attracted to a 5'2 woman, but her genes and my genes combining the odds of reaching the average 5'10 are pretty short.
I guess this is only relevant if your interested in a serious relationship, but I always thought if I didn't think it had the potential to be serious it was a waste of time. Anyway, yeah being short kind of sucks, but the few women on POF shouldn't have to defend womenkind, at least not in my humble opinion.

is 21 to old to live with your parents

Don't care about what other people think, in Asia its common for men to live at home even into their early thirties. When they marry, they can buy a nice appartment or house with cash, pay for the wedding, and still have a good bit leftover. (This isn't an elite thing it's pretty normal). They can do this because they save money all those years they lived with their parents, and they often have a better relationship with their parents to boot.
Don't listen to some silly girl in her early twenties that might not want to date you becuase you're still at home. What does she know about life? Probably not much. Good luck.

What have you given up because of gas prices?

It goes for about 6-7 dollars a gallon in South Korea, America still has good prices for a non oil producing nation. The amazing thing is that taxis are much cheaper here. The meter starts out at about 1.75 here and that lasts a couple of miles. A thirty minute trip only costs about 7 dollars. In the US that would be thirty bucks easily. Can't get my mind around that math.

Well I spent part of my teen years in a Juvenille center growing up, and I was one of two white kids, so I think I know something about it. I imagine prison would be much worse for me, so obviously I will try to stay out of there :D

OKLAHOMA SAYS GET OUT TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!!!

Americans will be the migrant workers soon. There's already tens of thousands of them across China, Japan, and Korea all living far away from home mainly for the lure of $2000 USD a month. The amazing thing is that except for a few criminals who have forged their documents they all have a minimum of a four year degree. The job is teaching English and I can tell you its a major dissapointment that this is what my college degree has done for me. $50,000 in debt and I have to work outside my own country to have to hope to pay it off.
The quality of living is nothing like back at home, no grass, you live in a room the size of a closet, the air is horribly polluted, but at least I can save enough not to have to touch those credit cards anymore. I'm still priviledged next to the average person in the world, I'll admit that, but I'm dissapointed I can't live in my own country which I dearly miss. I believe if it weren't for all the illegals, I could find a job that I could support myself on, which isn't the case nowadays. If I go back, I'll be lucky to make 10 or 12 bucks an hour, and still pay a ton of taxes.

Disabled Men, Woman Beaten Over Not Paying 'Fee' For Being White
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Four men in Orlando were charged with a hate crime after they pummeled a 62-year-old woman and her two mentally-challenged companions at a public park after they didn't pay a "fee" for being white, police said.
Investigators said the victims were walking into a Kaley Park when they were confronted by Christopher Colbert, Erick Golden, Willie Pritts and Antoniette Boone.
Police said the victims were told that since they are white, they had to pay a fee to be in the park.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe now that the media has gotten ahold of this we can admit there is anti-white racism alive in the US. I know we're so priviledged that this couldn't possibly be the case, but any white kids who grew up close to black areas know this. It works both way of course, I'm sure there's white morons out there who won't vote for Obama solely because he's black and probably wouldn't employ black people if they had a choice, but I think its time that we're real about both sides.
Sure the US is great if you're a rich white guy who can almost always avoid such areas where an unfortunate incident like this took place. But poor whites like myself often get scapegoated for things we have no control of. If the media reports when racist things happen to white people as often as it does when it happens to black, I think the entire level of racism would decline in this country. When only one group seems to constantly suffer, it is hard not to get angry.

Teacher accused of sex with student
Posted:

I'm sure many a sixteen year old girl who had sex with her male teacher thought it was cool and a good experience, but that has never mattered she is not of age to give consent and furthermore, he is violating his position of trust over her, whether she thinks so or not. The same goes for boys, even if they are eighteen, it is completely inapropriate for sexual relations to be occuring with their teacher while they are students.

I'm pretty open-minded but I think this one is selfish and I pity the women who cater to it. Think of how disgusting it must be for the woman to have to deal with, you're not a baby you're a grown man.
For the guys that liked to get smacked around and dominated, I think it could be bad if you took a mild mannered woman and made her enjoy something like that, but it might be a perfect match for a select few. The diaper thing I'm just not seeing though.

My boyfriend doesn't want sex often enough.
Posted:

I see these posts all over the internet, they all have very excuses attached to them, but could the reason possibly be that a growing minority of men simply don't have as much interest in sex as they should? According to some recent articles, men's testosterone levels are far lower than their father's and grandfather's levels were. Check out this link: http://www.biospace.com/news_story.aspx?NewsEntityId=68043
Here is an excerpt: "Researchers in the US are finding testosterone levels to be substantially lower -- by about 15 to 20% -- than they were fifteen years ago. Scandinavian studies show similar declines, and in younger men too; a man born in 1970, for example, had about 20 percent less testosterone at 35 than a man of his father's generation at the same age. "
Scientists have also found many amphibians developing that seem to be neutral sexed (in others it can't be determined visually whether a fully matured frog is say, male or female). I'm no expert on frogs, but apparently in the past this was easy to determine. Amphibians are far more vulnerable than humans to changes in their environment, so this may be an early warning sign for us.
The studies I have read about men's testosterone levels falling haven't done much to explain why this is happening, but I bet its all the chemicals we're eating in our food and the crap we breathe in through the air.
So what does this have to do with the OP, quite possibly nothing in this particular case, but women need to be aware that a man's sense of being a man is tied into his sex drive. Especially when a woman has revealed that his drive is lacking, he's going to grasp at any straw he can to explain it away, rather than face he might need hormones, viagra whatever. Humans are merely intelligent animals, I would tend to look at the physical first, then when this is ruled out consider the possibility its psychological.

Why does a guy view your profile more then one, but no mail from them?
Posted:

Well you're a cutie, so I might look at your profile again, but being that your 5'10 to my 5'8 (besides being thousands of miles away) it would probably not be a match, but if I came across the profile again I might want to take another look :)
I wouldn't email a bunch of people, but if you really liked someone's profile, I would say something like "Hey I saw you were looking at my profile, so I looked at yours and really liked what I saw, would you like to have a chat on ..... sometime?"

I love him but we can't have sex!
Posted:
11/24/2007 6:50:48 AM
I have been dating this guy for nine months. I am 29 and he is 39. We have a great time together. We talk for hours and it only seems for minutes. I can't get enough of him and I think about him all the time. The minute I leave I miss him and he has expressed the same. The other night we have exchange the love word and it happened so natural. I have never felt this way before.
If things are really this wonderful, then I think people are being way too hard on this guy. That said, and don't take offence to this, but I often find on here people exaggerate the good part before getting to the bad. So I think you have to think about whether the emotional part is as good as you are saying it is. If so, it would seem a lot of effort might be worth putting into this. If not, then you will realize the dropping him may be the best move.
With my first girlfriend, I had a lot of trouble keeping things going so to speak, because I was nervous and terrified of failure, so my fears were realized. She was very patient, and at the least I think she would say that we had a satisfying sex life over the long term. One thing that helped a lot was that I found it a bit of a turn on that she seemed to genuinely not be upset or dissapointed that I could not perform, and that she was still very happy with me.
So, if you really care about this guy, I would try to be as patient as you can be, and just act like its not big deal and you have all the time in the world. After some time if he doesn't broach the subject, then I would try to phrase it like you are very happy with him, but you are just curious why he doesn't seem to be very interested in sex. At some point you are going to need an honest answer to this. I would stall on the marriage thing until you can resolve this. Who knows, maybe viagra can't even do the trick for him for some reason, in which case you are going to need to think hard if you can live with this for the rest of your life.
Good luck.

Is my boyfriend gay if he looks at gay porn?

I don't know I've been using the internet since the day it came out pretty much and I admit I've done some weird searches that I wouldn't want others to be privy to, but gay porn has never been one of them. If he really had never used google before, who knows, maybe he was just curious for some reason, but if he does it again and again I think you have your answer pretty conclusively.

You have to consider what kind of lifestyle the man has, if you're staying at home, and he's working long hours, there's a good chance you'll have a higher sex drive than he does. Already in my late twenties I sadly seem to have had my sex drive drop a bit. Still under normal circumstances, once a day should not be much of a challenge, but my present job is so stressful that I find that once a day every single day is a bit much.

Holocaust survivors moving back to Germany?
Posted:

Well as a person of Jewish ancestry, I appreciate that Germany is continuing to make ammends so many years later. That said, I think its absurd that Israel is dropping the ball on this. I don't know how much money is available besides what the article is claiming, but Israel is not some third world country, they have the funds to take care of these people. I'm not saying because they suffered they all deserve to live out their days in luxury, but giving someone 400 dollars a month is an insult.
With their incursion into Lebanon failing, political scandals, and failure to resolve the Palestinian issue, it seems the Israeli government has quite a bit of work to do.

Why are women so hung up on a mans height?
Posted:
11/6/2007 11:32:30 AM
Well I'm getting married next year, so I don't have to worry about all this nonesense anymore and it feels great :)
To my fellow short guys, if I could redo one thing if I had to date all over again it would be that I wouldn't be so freaking nice. I mean of course you need to act like a human being, but if they pull a no-show or start to play games, tell these women to fly right or find someone else that wants their games.
I don't buy that being not so nice is going to get you more women, but I don't believe that overdoing the niceness will get you more women either. Heck I'm not even a good looking or even average looking 5'8 for that matter, so a lot of you guys should have it easier than I did, but yet there always ended up being someone else interested in me when I finally cut the cords on a bad relationship or had them cut for me.
Live your life, don't waste your time at clubs, be realistic about what women you can get (physically, don't compromise on other things) and eventually I'm sure it will work out for most of you.

Outsourcing of Jobs Overseas
Posted:
9/30/2007 11:51:47 AM
Well count me as one American who couldn't live on 8 bucks an hour with a four year degree, and how to get a job overseas. Now I make about $20 an hour or so, but I live so close to the industrial giant that is China that the pollution that I breathe in everyday makes me wonder if its worth it. And I am but one of tens of thousands who have gone to South Korea to escape service jobs back home in the US and Canada. Nearly all of us have $20,000 or more in student loans to pay off.
The ironic thing about it is that these decent paying jobs for English speakers probably won't be here long, as Korea is just a little behind the US on the globalization curve. They still have a lot more industry per capita than the US does, but it's fast moving to China. Korea realizes this, but thinks getting a population of English speakers will be it's salvation. I've already met several men in their twenties and thirties who speak nearly fluent English who have college degrees and work in restaurants because that was the best job they could find.
I think the lesson to be learned is that Free Trade reduces us all to the lowest common denominator.

Do women say yes because he's attractive?
Posted:
9/21/2007 1:56:39 PM
I think there's something in humankind that denies reality when that reality is negative. Perhaps there is some evolutionary advantage to this. Anybody else on here see the original b&w version of the Grapes of Wrath? I saw it quite awhile back as a kid, but there's one part I've never forgotten. When the Okie family is getting somewhere close to California and is stopped at a camp with some others who are hopeful to find a job in the Paradise of California, a guy turns up who is returning from there. He tells all the people that it isn't all its cracked up to be, and he saw kids dying of malnutrition there. The Okies practically want to lynch him, even though he's just giving his honest opinion, and hoping to save them from the same heartache he experienced.
Might seem like an off-topic anecdote, but if you think about it, any negativity is strongly frowned on, even when it's based on reality. Tim was clever enough to compose this post in a way that any reasonably intelligent person couldn't disagree with his premise, but generally we are told personality trumps all, or we are told that a guy could be a Brad Pitt look a like, but if he is a jerk, she would turn him down. Those of us who hit a few branches are still screwed, whether or not**** male model types are getting turned down or not.
The saddest thing about this is that those on the lower end of the looks scale tend to be ambivalent at best about dating their physical equals of the opposite sex, perhaps in part because of evolution, but probably to a greater extent because of a society that has lied to them, and told them they can get whatever they want if they just have the right personality or the right "game".
Imagine if you were a 5'5 guy on a highschool basketball team, and a decent athlete but did not possess the blinding speed that would make up for your lack of height. On your team is also a 6'6 player, who is as good an athlete or better than you are, and is obviously much more successful in games. The coach constantly criticizes you, saying your attitude is nothing like the 6'6 guys' and that you need to work harder if you want to be a good player like him. Would this not be insulting the shorter player's intelligence, and quite unfair? But the equivalent happens all the time to those who are in the dating world. People ignore obvious handicaps, like short height or generally unattractive appearance, and say that they must not be confident or that they're pressing too much.

To add a more positive spin to my post earlier, the only women I've ever dated have outweighed me. Of course as I've gotten older I probably would outweigh some of them now. I can say we enjoyed vigorous activity, and I was not hurt or injured in any way! So if most women aren't attracted, I guess there's not much us skinny men can do about that, but let's at least bust this myth that we'll break! I got my leg accidentally run over by a car. It didn't break, so as long as you all weigh less than a car I think I'll be fine lol

As far as this woman that meets all your requirements, depending on how stringent they are, you might have to drop some. Just as having a successful relationship is about compromise, so finding a partner in the first place also requires compromise.
