I'm sorry about the hurt and betrayal you are feeling right now and that there isn't a simple answer. Sometimes the marriage can be salvaged if there is open and honest communication on both sides and there is a desire from both parties to really move past this. My suggestion is try marriage counseling as 18 years is a long time. If that doesn't help and the marriage does still end than you will know that you tried to make it work rather than a what if scenario. I have seen it work out after an affair and while the love might be a bit different the relationship was stronger. It did take ALOT of work and it was an emotional ride for my friend so keep a good group of friends around as well to talk with. Good luck with everything.

If they have asked than I would say boys and girls are like puzzles and when the time is right we connect and leave it at that. Worked with my niece and nephew at age 11 and they didn't ask again... Good Luck and kudos for having the talk with them.

No, I'm not saying looks arn't important, everyone has a certain features that they are drawn to. What I was trying to get across was (not very clearly) that there is more to a package than just good looks. You could be drop dead gorgeous and the second you open your mouth and say something unintelligent that kills it for me. The generalization is that men who are attractive and know it take more time to look good than to develop good conversational skills. Hope that makes more sense... As far as giving up on hygiene hard to know a persons wit if we pass out from the stench from the next room.

Man if every break up involving children could be so simple....If the children are older and it could be explained maybe it would work seamlessly however when they are young and need routine and structure all I see are issues. That being said I feel that men get hosed when it comes to child support payments because what they said my ex should pay was wayyyy more than I would spend in a month. My child needs a roof over his head (not a mansion) clothes on his back (not designer), food in his belly (generic brands still taste good) and two parents to love him unconditionally. If his dad has to work all the time just to make the payments that doesn't leave much time for him to see his son, and the break up was between two adults the child shouldn't have to pay. Of course I am one of the lucky ones where his dad takes his responsibilities seriously and we both work hard to do the right thing and not to be right. For all those parents who do it on their own I admire you more than you will ever know.

My son is soon to be 5 and every morning he flies into my room with " Mom Mom check this out I growed last night" and his excitement is contagious and reminds me of what we take for granted.
