pages freezing up

Hi actully the reason you are just sdarting to get error messages about you windows not being valid is becouse microsoft about 8 to 12 weeks ago now changed there policy on pirate software with a download called genuine advantage. this is bocouse they haved started offering peaple free copies of some of there upcoming software releases but to qualify you have to be able to prove that you boght your windows legally.

once this software is installed on your computer it can not be uninstalled but it can be bypassed by downloading a crack from a torrent based website.

if you dont feel cumfertable downloading cracks then the only other way that I know of to remove this code is to reinstall windows.

as for the problem you are having with your internet freezing this is most likely being coused by a rouge element you say that your harddisk is not needing defraged and that you are not using all of your system resources and that this only happens when you are accessing kids web sites.

most of the kids website will need you have external programs installed for the sites to function properly.

things like Macromedia Flash and or shokwave are commenly used for interactive elements on childrens websites.

finnally make sure you have a good spyware checker and virus checker running all of the time when you are online.

I use Spybot 1.4 and lavasofts Adaware se to check for spyware although A squared is also very good. and I use AVG 7 free edition to keep the viruses at bay.

Torrents and such

Hi there first off Emule will not work unless your computer can connect to the kad network as this seams to be the part of the progrma that does the downloading it is also part of the search engine the the Emule program uses.

If you can connect to the kad network then I would suggest changing the ports that the program listens to.

As for demonoid.com being a slow site I have to say that I have been a member of Demonoid for almost two years and I regularly reach download speed of more than 400kbs. Using a program called bitlord.

as for your slow download speeds there are a number of things that can affect this but the biggest one would have to be the kind of connection you have to the net.

for instance 56kb dial up modems will download at 3 - 6 kbs per second while a 1Mb broadband modem will download 100 - 150kbs per second a 2mb modem will give 200-250 kbs per second and 4mb modem will be 300-450 kbs abd at the moment I think the fastest Bt lie is 8mb and this will give from 700- 1024kbs per second. these are rough guidelines as there are a lot of factors that affect these speeds.

one thing that I would do is check your firewall and or virus software.

you have to make sure that your fire wall is not blocking the incomeing and outgoing ports that are being used by your torrent program as this will drasticly reduce the speed at whitch you can download.

also some virus checkers will slow down your downloads as they check evey peice of data coming into the computer to make sure it is clean.

lastly I would say check your settings in your bit torrent program to make sure that it is setup properly as if you are on broadband then your download speed is affected by your upload speed u need to try and find a balance between the two.

hope you find this usefull

How to use a DVD writer?
Posted: 7/11/2006 2:37:59 PM
Hi when you say that you are trying to back up files to a dvd using the dvd writer and software.

for instance if I am doing my weekly back up using Nero 7 and I am wanting to back up household finances emails contact information that kind of thing then I would load nero burning rom and select cd /dvd at the top of the menu

then I would select the type of backup I want to perform in this case it would be data and then click the new button to start a new backup session.

In the next window I would use the file browser to locate the file/ gfiles that I wanted to back up and then drag them over to the other window.

once I have draged over all of the files that I wanted to backup I would thrn click on the burn button to burn the data to disk.

Once burning is finished you will now have an exact copy of the files that are on your hard disk on the cd/dvd your backup is now finished.

these files are accessable at any time on any computer that you might have access to.

The other option is to use the nero backit up program this program is pretty straight forward to use as it is menu and wizard driven.

I would expect this program to pack more information on each cd/dvd that you use but as with some back up porgrams this data might be commpressd and there for non accessable with out the right software installed.

Personnaly I have never used nero back it up as I perfer to be able to access any data I have backed up to cd / dvd from any computer running any operating system.

I hope that I have managed to answear your query with out going to technical or just getting you more confused.
