I.e. message sent 9:00pm, account deleted 9:01pm, inbox opened by user (me) at 11pm. That new unread message still should show up? If the profile was deleted by the user, the unread message will be there. If the profile was deleted by Admin, the unread message will disappear.

You won't show up on their Viewed Me page as long as your profile is hidden, but you might after you make it visible again. And you shouldn't have shown up on his Viewed Me page at all unless his profile said he was looking for men.

How can I make sure letters are blue? It keeps saying I'm not typing in the blue letters & I think I am. The best place to look for help is probably the thread below. I guess I'm asking why there are only 2-3 when so many have indicated a willingness to help. Some of the people who are asked to help don't want the job. Some are willing but deemed unsuitable by the guy who makes the final decision, despite the fact that the moderators, who are here every day and know what kind of help they need, think those candidates could do fine. Earlier in the year there was only one moderator on duty over a period of, what was it... four months? Five months? One moderator to take care of the problems on a forum with over 6,000 new posts per day, not to mention his work here as an unpaid customer service rep. From that alone, you should get an idea of how high the forum, and the people who voluntarily work in it, are on Admin's list of priorities. As with so many other things about the site, if you want to know why things are the way they are, you'd have to get the answer from the guy who owns the place. Good luck with that.

Any thoughts? settings I might have engaged that would delete someone completely from my view? There are no settings on POF that would do that. If they're no longer on your Contacts list they've either hidden their accounts or their accounts no longer exist. You haven't said what happened to the emails between you and these women. Try reading a few different Chemistry test results. They are all exactly the same!!!! You're probably clicking on the wrong link. If you click the word "Chemistry" you'll see your own results, not the profile owner's.

The History page used to only show the last 25 posts. It was changed many moons ago to show your last 50, but the link to the page was never updated to reflect that.

When you're logged in the search results take into account things like mail settings and your patterns of behaviour as you search and look at profiles. You won't get as many results while logged in because the system weeds out people for you.

Is there a way to know specifically what I violated? Paying attention usually works for me. You started another thread complaining that your picture keeps getting deleted. You kept putting the picture back up. Do that enough times, you get a warning. Ignore the warning, you get your uploading privileges taken away.

I don't think anyone knows the answer to that for sure except Admin, but I know he at least experimented with doing that once upon a time (resulting in quite a few heavy forum users getting the boot when he turned it on.) I'm pretty sure our ability to preemptively block was removed around the same time that happened, so you'd probably be safe in assuming it's one of the things still taken into consideration for the deletion process. And because I fancy myself psycho, ahem, I mean psychic, I anticipate your next concern to query - isn't the link to block people missing on the mass emails for events? I thought it was, but it's been so long since I've received them I can't trust my memory.

Make sure your postal code is correct (on the Edit page), then go to the My Matches page and open up the age and distance ranges to the maximum. Save that change, wait a minute or two, and check your Chemistry page again. If that gives you some results but they're too young/old or too far away, then go back to the My Matches and try playing with the age and distance ranges a little until you get better results.

If your profile is hidden, does your pic show up as ONLINE when you log on to real mail? If your profile is hidden, you disappear from all searches. This includes things like Contacts, My Matches, and Viewed Me pages. If your picture isn't on the page, there's nowhere for your online status to show up.

I have tried to use "EDIT" in order to re-write my description About Me and the First Date Sections, however, it seemingly is not possible. The page to edit your profile is here: http://www.plentyoffish.com/editprofile.aspx Towards the bottom of the page are two big white boxes where you type the text that will go into the About Me and First Date sections of your profile. Fill them out and remember to click the Update Profile button afterwards to save the changes.

1. the user specifically blocked me from searching her profile? 2. the user only allows profiles that fit her description to search for her It's not possible for users to control who can and can't see them unless they're willing to hide their profile from everyone. And even then, it won't be completely hidden from the people who already know how to find it. 3. user is simply taking a break and has gone into an "invisible" mode? If you can find her profile with a User Search, then she's not hidden. When you use the site while logged in, the system takes note of the things you do and the various details in both yours and other's profiles, and it makes decisions about what profiles will show up for you in searches. If you want to get around that and see a wider range of people, do your searches while logged out.

I found out now, that it is against pof's regulations to mention any numbers in the description, the only numbers I had were referring to an era of my favorite music. What can I do to change that ? It's only a problem if you have seven or more numbers in a row. Punctuation separating some of them won't be recognized, so using that won't fix the problem. For example, 1980-1990 would get your profile content deleted, but 1980 - 1990 (with a space on either side of the hyphen) would be okay.

Hello, I noticed that all my images show up when I send an email, I don't want this happening anymore, help please. I have read all the things and can't figure it out. If you're writing to someone that has the mailing restriction saying that you must have a picture to contact them, you must choose at least one picture to attach to your email or all your pictures will be attached.

That usually happens because you've included a long string of numbers in your profile, most often in the form of a date, such as 1993-2001. Remove them or reword them and all will stay as it is. If that's not the problem, then you'll have to check the Frequently Asked Questions at the top of this forum where you will find extensive lists of things that may get your profile content deleted.

Why would "Good_Chum" use an automated very geeky program with his POF profile? To keep his picture at maximum visibility in the thumbnails that show who has been on line recently, such as in the lines across the top of the page, the Viewed Me page, searches, the My Matches page, etc. I'm more inclined to believe he was stringing you a line, but it is one possible reason.

Because your email has been disappearing for a while and you've had a profile deleted previously, that suggests someone possibly having access to either your offsite email, your computer, or your wireless connection for a while. They may just have access to your POF account, but if it was me, I'd be changing passwords on any other important accounts and doing scans just to be safe.

The username changed from The_Bass_Man to "Smooo" no later than 30 minutes ago. It was still The_Bass_Man when I posted this thread complaining that my profile was deleted. Where did you see the name The_Bass_Man? Did you open the thread and see that name beside the post itself, or did you just see that name in the thread listing or your History page? In some places the name will change when the profile name changes. In others, the name will remain whatever it was when the post was made.

I try and log on today and find my profile has inexplicably been deleted for a second time. If you didn't change your name yesterday or today and then delete your account, I think it's safe to say someone was accessing your account besides you. That would also explain the disappearing email. If this has been the second time it's happened, use a different offsite email and change your passwords.

Maybe it's just my profile that's mis-behaving: or it could have been a problem for a while now. It's not just yours. People have been reporting their birthdate repeatedly switching to the first of the month for at least a couple of months. Admin either isn't aware of it or doesn't deem it worthy of attention. I assume it doesn't happen with all new profiles or there'd be a lot more complaints, so you could try deleting your profile and starting over if it's really bugging you.

I also found that there are only three timezone choices now, Eastern, Central, and Pacific. Mountain time is not there, nor are any timezones east of Eastern. The choices that show for timezone are dependent on where you live.

Make sure you're clicking the Update Registration button at the bottom of the page after making the change, rather than the Update Profile button just above. If it still doesn't work, the only way you'll be able to fix it is to delete your profile and start over.

My computer time is fine, but the time reflected in my favorite list and in the mailbox here on POF is .. . . about 7 hours earlier than PHX where I live - is that Greenwich mean time? Is there a setting i have not done correctly??? The standard timezones aren't set up properly on POF, so you have to choose one of the others on your Mail Settings page. One will give you the correct time in the summer, the other the winter.

The people on the My Matches page are just the most recent people your area to have logged in. A few mail settings are applied to whittle them down a bit, but that's it. If you want to find people who will more closely match what you're looking for, ignoring the My Matches page and using the Basic or Advanced Search is a better choice.

I am using a computer, not a smart phone or anything. If you're using a computer, the only other thing I've seen work to fix the problem is clearing cookies and temporary internet files. You say you've tried using two different browsers, so I doubt if that will help in this case, but it's worth a shot. Directly under the age choices there is the word "limit:" but no little box to make any change. I have tried both Firefox and IE. Are you using something other than a computer to access the site? Those boxes often screw up if you're trying to use the site with a phone or similar device.

I want to be able to filter my searches by body type. You can do that with the Advanced Search. You can choose more than one option from the list by holding the Ctrl key and clicking to highlight the ones you want to include in the search.

And furthermore, how can I make it possible for no one to contact me until I'm ready to make my profile visible again? Make your mail settings so restrictive that no one will be able to get through them. For example, only accepting mail from people who are aged 99 to 99 should stop anyone new from contacting you. You can't stop people you've already had contact with unless you block them.

I have tried to eliminate that limit but when I click on "edit" it takes me to the mail settings page and there is no place to change or delete the limit. It's on the right hand side of the page, directly under the spot where you set the age restrictions. Change it to 20,000 miles, and remember to click on the Update button at the bottom of the page when you're done.

when I log out completely -leave the site - then I sign back in it says - that my profile is hidden and to unhide it click here It may be that your profile is visible and it's just that the notice at the top of your inbox is messed up. That indicator seems to get stuck sometimes. Before you log in to your profile, do a User Search for yourself to see if you really are hidden or not. If you can find yourself when you're not logged in, you're not hidden.

Sounds kinda like they deleted their own account, but the username disappears from your inbox list in that case, and will only appear when you open the mail. I clicked on the link before reading the fine print which says this link removes you from that person's favorite list. The link doesn't delete you. It only takes you to your favorites list so you can delete yourself if you want. If the person was no longer there they may have removed themselves, or it could have been a spammer who was deleted by the site. To make matters worse there is no way of looking up the person's profile, under the search menu by username. Yes, there is. It's called User Search. http://www.plentyoffish.com/basicusersearch.aspx

So my question is, what conditions determines if a posted URL will be presented in plain-text or as a hyperlink? It will only show up as a hyperlink if it's pointing directly to a forum thread.
