Yes, I'm looking for a hot girl, deal with it
Posted: 6/28/2007 12:07:32 PM

what is he going to think of me then? Or if I get breast cancer and lose my breasts and all my hair?

Okay, I know this is "ask a girl" so I was just reading these threads for fun - but I have respond to this... The quote above from a reply is one of the oldest tricks in the (female) book. Please... You wouldn't be attracted to your man if his penis fell off, he gained 200 pounds, and he stopped bathing would you? You may love him, but you aren't going to want to rip his clothes off...

Of course if you're in love with someone you'll still accept them if things beyond their control change their appearance. However, this is too often used as an excuse by women (and maybe men..I've never been involved with one so I wouldn't know) for things they CAN change. You don't have to blow your body out of shape to have kids. If you do the research it is better to exercise and stay in shape and eat healthy while pregnant. Gaining too much weight is actually BAD FOR YOUR BABY, but a whole hell of a lot of American women tend to "eat for two" and gain way too much weight in the name of "keeping the baby healthy." Then when the weight doesn't come off and the husband doesn't want to have sex any more she throws her hands in the air like it isn't her fault and her husband is a total jerk.... The same thing happens among working people who "don't have time to stay in shape." If something means something to you - you'll do it. If you want to stay in shape, you'll find a way to work a half hour at the gym three days into your schedule. I often work 11-15 hour days during the week...but somehow still manage to get to the gym almost every day.... Yes, it is harder with children and other obstacles...but not impossible.

Get real. If you get cancer that is one thing. If you make bad choices that is whole different story. Your partner knows you're in control of your life AND your appearance. If you let one or both of those two things go.... is it HIS (or her) fault that they aren't attracted to you anymore?

And...I also agree with those of you that said the OP is kind of hypocritical by not putting up his own picture. "I'm hot..... trust me" What the OP doesn't realize is that attraction ("hotness") is an opinion, and your own doesn't count. He is going to be hot to some, but not to all - and the same about the women he wants to date...yet he thinks that his preferences are identical to every other man on the face of the earth - and so these women should know whether they are "hot" or not by his definition (which as near as we can tell is the ambiguous "curvy").

Sorry RSX, my fascination with CRT's came to an end when my desk started bowing under the weight of two 19" flanking a 21". I switched from that to two 20 inch (wide format) LCDs and never looked back. The color DOES suck though. I remember the first time I watched a dark movie (like the Crow or Dark City) on one of my LCDs and being terribly dissapointed by how muddy the dark scenes were because the full dark gamut couldn't be displayed.

However... CRTs always go wonky and I was getting really tired of degaussing and reorienting them. ...not to mention the space and heat. Even on the "good" 21" monitor things got a little blurry around the edges. None of that with an LCD. Since I do more "corporate" art than "artsy" art - things like font formatting and stroke thickness become more important than 100% dead-on accurate color representation.

Every now and then I'm doing some personal work that involves darker colors and it does get frustrating when your hands are tied.

Als0 - the wide aspect format of the LCD screens fits my field of vision much better than the squarish CRTs. ...thus my drooling over the 30" wide aspect monitors.

Thanks all, this is helping A LOT!

Now....any speculation on the LCD panels? I wonder if they have something new in store for us (like large flexible screens) that will make even a 30" obsolete...

Quad-core chips...should I wait?

You want as much memory to CPU bandwith as possible.

So you are recommending getting one of the core2 duo machines and loading up on RAM and a graphics card with a memory?

I would think as a graphics designer you'd want to go with a Mac.

MAC or WIndows...
Posted: 6/19/2007 2:39:45 PM

Being in one of the aspects of art/music/design...Mac IS the industry standard...

No...it ISN'T....

I suppose you're one of the last dying Quark users as well....

Look up what George Lucas had his artists use to make the newest Star Wars special effects. If a guy can buy the Presidio...you'd think he'd hire the best people and had them work on only the best machines. Too bad for Mac enthusiasts - most of the special effects work was done on PCs that weren't too far off from spec consumer models available from Dell.....

Too bad the Dell 30" LCD uses the same panel as the Mac 30" but somehow manages to squeeze out better test results.... (yes I know you could use either one with a Mac or a PC)

Ask your local printer how many (new) InDesign files they get compared to (new) Quark files.

Look into the history of 3D design... in the beginning programs like Maya weren't even available for use on Macs. Until recently Adobe design software still had hiccups on Macs and always came out with a PC version first. I can't tell you how many times I'd bang my fist on the table in college when the G4 in the art lab suddently had a seizure and dumped all my new data... that never happened on my XP machine at home...

That Macs are "The" artist's computer of choice is a terrible stereotype. Are you going to tell me all the purchasers of the iMac were ....artists? That craze hit when I was in college... Walk into the women's dorm and you saw little bubbles of green and blue and orange plastic all over... walk into a guy's dorm and you saw grey boxes that said "Dell" on the side. I find it hard to believe that all the women at my college were budding graphic artists and the guys were ...not.

Apple is marketing, pure and simple. And the belief that they are the best "artist's" machine is the best marketing gimmick they ever had going. The ipod is not the best mp3 player and the Mac isn't the best computer.

Lets look at fonts alone. Native Mac fonts cannot be installed on a PC (without extra third party software)... True Type fonts (the predominant font type on a PC) will work on a Mac just fine. Now.... as a graphic designer why in the hell would I want to make a flyer, a brochure, anything for my employer that may not be compatible when it gets to the printer or another client? Granted most print shops have to have BOTH machines for this very reason - but I think that shows Mac's flaws.

Could go on and on... but I have to get back to making a living doing design work ...on my PC....

Piracy vs Privacy

However MP3's are CD Quality music. This means that if you copy a song from the radio then you do not get a CD Quality song where as when you get an MP3 you do.

MP3 is a *lossy* form of compression, which basically means that the quality is *lower* than the original source material. Just because something is digital doesn't mean there is no loss in quality. For example, a standard CD (16 bits per sample at a sample rate of 44.1KHz, and usually with dynamic range compression applied) is of lower quality than good old vinyl records, but that's another topic entirely.

Glad somebody caught this. It is too bad that mp3s have infiltrated our society to the point that that lower quality is considered "normal" or "high" quality playback. I have to chuckle when I fly and read the skymall mag that espouses "incredible quality new Bose ipod dock" WHAT?!! Proof positive that the guys at Bose never really knew how to make things sound good. By definition you CAN'T get great quality audio out of an ipod filled with mp3s..... But perhaps most people don't turn their music up (way up) loud enough to notice. ...I do

Ironic that as a society we're stepping back in quality. Downloaded movies and music are degraded from the original. Most people don't even know that when an mp3 is made parts of the original audio are thrown out. Instrumentation that is very soft and in the background is tossed out altogether. "more cowbell, gene.... or it won't make it through to the mp3!"

Here is a good example for non-audiophiles:

If you stand by the river in Battery Park and take a cell phone photo and send it to someone... They won't be able to see the points on Lady Liberty's head, just a gray smudge out on the horizon. If you got in the same position and shot a photo with a film or high megapixel (at least 5) digital camera...you'd see those points on her crown. Mp3s are the low res camera phone photos of music.... and unlike camera-phones, the quality isn't getting better every year.

I never feel guilty about downloading mp3s because I never listen to them to truly enjoy the music anyway. Just as I would never download a heavy special effects laden movie online....I can only imagine what Star Wars III looks like all grainy and muddy and choppy.... yikes!

Quad-core chips...should I wait?
Posted: 6/19/2007 12:28:06 PM
I'm a graphic artist/designer trying to figure out how long I should wait (if at all) to replace my aging PC and what to get.

My current set up is this:
Dell PC 3Ghz pentium 4 - 1 gig of RAM bought in January 2005
2 20" wide-screen LCDs (running dual display desktop)
external 500 gig hard drive
Music sound card (MIDI, mic inputs, etc.)
Adobe software...but a cobbled together mix of CS and CS2
Ableton Live 5.02
Reason 3.0

What I've been craving for a while is a 30" LCD coupled with a newer faster processor. I'm tired of waiting for Photoshop to chug away whenever I do something, or not being able to run Ableton Live (music recording software) with many other applications.

Some techy friends of mine are telling me to wait for the Quad-core systems to become commonplace this fall... and also that the 30" monitors aren't going to get much cheaper any time soon (although didn't the Mac one just drop by about $300 last week?).

My dream system I suppose would be thus:
30" Dell (or samsung) LCD flanked with one of my old 20" turned vertically (or a Cintiq)
PC with Quad-core processor, 4 gigs of RAM
Wacom tablet for larger screen
Music sound card (MIDI, mic inputs, etc.)
Adobe CS3
Ableton 6??(does that exist yet?)
Reason 3.0

So, my question is - is it worth waiting another six months for the price of quad-cores to drop and the price of monitors to drop? Would a core2 processor be almost the same with enough RAM?

Als0 - should I run this with XP or Vista? I've been hearing negative things about Vista which make me think twice....

Cost is an issue - but only in as much as I want to make sure I'm buying the right thing at the right time. I'd rather spend $6,000 on a system that will be usefull, than a $3,000 stop-gap solution.

Thanks to whomever can help....

Why in the world would you date...much less let move in... a woman who had a baby at 18 (or 17...unclear) and is already single again. It takes someone pretty dense to be surprised at the actions you are telling us about after already knowing this to begin with. It would be more surprising to everyone here if you were saying she DIDN'T take advantage of you! If you just do some simple math we can figure out that you haven't been with this girl that long - even if you met her during the pregnancy it can't have been more than two years - and I'm doubting it is/was.

GET HER OUT OF YOUR LIFE NOW! In some states if she lives with you long enough, YOU will be stuck paying child support when she leaves you (and she will, don't worry) for that other guy's kid... Do you want that? You already had a kid of your own at a young age....why do you want to take care of someone else's? Raising a child is said to cost near $200,000 over 18 years in today's dollars... so...lets see...you want to raise that to $400,000....? I hope you're a lottery winner...

I also hope you've been using protection.... if you aren't she is going to get another baby (excuse me...paycheck) from you...thus raising your debt over the next two decades to $600,000.... Take a good look at your girlfriend, man. Is sleeping with her for another year (or two, or however long until you eventually break up because she is too young for a commitment anyway) worth $600,000?

How do girls hit on guys...
Posted: 3/2/2007 10:29:43 AM
This one is easy. I'm not a girl - but I'll answer this one - because it should be easy for any guy to figure out....

If a woman spontaneously talks to a guy she doens't know... that is enough. If the guy can't take that cue and run with it - he is dumb as mud and you shouldn't waste your time on him.

After that (or in a situation where maybe you know the person already) there are subtle clues that a guy should pick up on when you talk to him - like playing with your hair, touching, tilting the head, etc.

Since 99.9% of the time the guy has to approach the girl - obviously whenever a woman walks up to you it should be clear that #1 she has a lot of confidence and #2 she is interested.

Ooze sex appeal
Posted: 2/8/2007 9:10:52 AM
okay,

Your screen name is "cosmic breasts" (translating into English). The accompanying photo is you looking "sexy" at the camera biting your finger...with ample cleavage showing...

When someone visits your profile they see more photos of your cleavage...and they see your last post was titled "ooze sex appeal."

I think this case is pretty cut and dry, your honor... the defendant is GUILTY GUILTY GUILTY!

If I knew any better I'd say this is an "attention getting" post.

You picked your photos and you picked them for a reason... you picked (or kept..) your SN and you picked it for a reason...

Yet you're still so starved for attention you had to start a thread about how sexy you are and why men can't see past it. Maybe they don't see past it because there is nothing to see

Posted: 1/19/2007 11:16:05 AM

Why? She didn't respond to the first, that's enough. Leave it alone and yes it IS annoying, very much so. Also desperate, needy, pathetic, clingy....and lots of other bad things.

I love opinions like this. If you already don't like me - what do I care if you think I'm "desperate, needy pathetic, clingy..." etc? Why am I worried about the opinion of someone who has already rejected me in their mind?

I say go ahead and send all the emails you want - after all - she can block them if she doesn't want to receive them any more. And I have run into times where I'll email back and forth and things will just drop off for no reason - so I initiate it again and it'll turn out she accidentaly deleted my email - or hasn't logged in for a long time - or whatever.

Bottom line - if she likes you - she'll respond the second time... if she doesn't like you - what the hell do you care what she thinks of you for writing twice?

oh no... not another Irish "believer" ...

One quarter to go... score LSU 34 - ND 14.

Good luck Brady bunch - this isn't MSU you're playing!

Anyone doubt Quinn's 3rd place heisman ranking now?

At least Lloyd Carr can point back to the past and say "hey, I USED to win..."

Does anyone still think Notre Dame deserved to come into the Sugar Bowl instead of Wisconsin?

Smoking in my own house - disrespectful?
Posted: 11/29/2006 9:22:03 AM

NONE of the people I know refer to smoking as stinky/smelly/offensive. Sooo, yes, it is strange to me when people here do.

Yikes! You certainly aren't doing much to dispell the horrible stereotypes of the south... I imagine personal hygiene must not be at the top of anyone's list if they think SMOKING doesn't smell bad.

...or perhaps they don't complain to YOU because you make it clear (like you have on this thread) that you are in a state of disbelief about your own habit. After all - according to you your friends should THANK YOU for coating their lungs with that healthy tar that "protects" them from the harmful effects of smog... Do you really believe that?

Are party girls still datable?
Posted: 11/28/2006 12:01:56 PM

because i am young and in 3-5 yrs when i am ready to have kids and get married i do not want to feel like i missed out on something important

this is the reason why you would be good for dating - but nothing more serious than that. As you get older what you find fun to go out and do with your friends changes with maturity. That is why when you go to the clubs you don't see a lot of happily married 35 year old women there. And just dating is probably a good idea anyway because you don't know what will happen to you in the next five years - you might want to move to Alaska for grad school or something...

Of course I'm only assuming that clubbing is what you meant by "silly and fun." If you meant put-put golfing than I'm changing my story.

And by the way... what kind of weird value system do you have to considering going clubbing "something important?" I'd call getting a college degree with a high GPA something important to do when you're young...not getting drunk with friends...

You'll probably find that guys your age will accept it more than older guys. Men a little older are looking to settle down and looking for the same...unless they are trying to set up a sugar daddy situation - so watch out for that.

Who will face the Buckeyes in the BCS Title game??
Posted: 11/27/2006 2:31:34 PM
well, speaking of fanboy loyalism... I was raised a Buckeye fan. I grew up watching the buckeyes lose to Michigan every year under John Cooper. This season is for those of us that watched every game in the Cooper years. We finally have a coach with a winning record against UM again. We have our first Heisman winner since Eddie. We are going to the National Championship game for the second time in five years. The irony is that the last championship was played with Cooper's recruits... but now we're going there with possibly the best OSU team ever assembled - and they are Tressel's recruits.

Jim Tressel has already accomplished more than John Cooper - and more than Woody Hayes if you look at the records against Michigan (Woody was 4-5-1 against Bo right?).

And the big stars of this team are mostly from Ohio (Ginn, Smith, Wells, etc.). This team, this season, and this coach are going to be remembered with warm fuzzy feelings for Buckeye fans for years to come.

I mean, they've only gone 55-3 in their last 58 games, won two national championships in the past three years,

I don't care what Lee Corso whispers in your ear before you go to bed - LSU won that championship. You have one outright championship in the last decade... ONE. In another 60 days Ohio State will have one more than that.

were better than Texas last year and should have made it three

yet....they didn't. They got to the rose bowl after a last second push to beat Notre Dame...who went on to get beat up easily by Ohio State... Ohio State lost to Texas in the exact same manner as USC last year(last second touchdown by Vince Young) and nobody in Ohio is saying "hey we were really only a one loss team last year."

and are poised to go to another national championship this year.

So lets review - USC last year with two heisman winners couldn't beat a Texas team with one star player. USC this year has no heisman winners and is going to beat the team WITH the heisman winner. USC is limping in with a loss to an unranked team. If you can't hold it together for a whole game against the powerhouse of Oregon State.... well you get my drift...

good luck

yes and no.

I haven't had sex since January - BUT I've had at least three opportunities since then and not taken them because I won't have sex outside of a relationship. So I suppose it is my own fault...but it still sucks, if only because I was in a LTR where I was getting it frequently. Going from 100 mph to 0 is kind of a drag...probably the hardest part of being single.

yes, pretty confident (not "confiedent"...not sure what that is).

Brady Quinn looked HORRIBLE last night. Even when he made throws the Notre Dame receivers dropped them over and over again ... You really thought this team had national championship potential?

Believe it or not Domer I was actually rooting for Notre Dame last night because I don't think USC should play in the national championship - I didn't count on Notre Dame being THAT bad though....

Now they are saying your Domers will play UM in the rose bowl. ....good luck with that

Hey, I'm a buckeye supporter and I'd rather see an OSU UM rematch than OSU vs. USC. At this point it looks like it will be USC vs. OSU. One good thing will come out of this - USC will get shown how over rated they are... and I'll get to stop hearing the USC fans all around me (I live in LA) put down the big ten for a LONG TIME.

Now they are saying that UM is going to play Notre Dame in the rose bowl. Does that make any sense? They already beat them just two months ago.... The BCS is an insane system that shows almost every year how flawed it is.

Smoking in my own house - disrespectful?
Posted: 11/26/2006 9:17:34 AM
I think the reason it got hijacked is because certain people (me for one) noticed that you had children. Wanting your children to be spared from your smoking supersedes any hypothetical discussion of manners in our minds. I know you (and the other smokers who've posted) don't see it that way - but that is exactly the problem.

Some perspective- I may live in Los Angeles now, but I was raised in a small Ohio town. My father was a republican NRA member. Most of the guys I knew in high school smoked at one point or another, as did many of the adults I knew. It was being in this smokers environment that made up my mind about the subject - not spending too much time with bleeding heart liberals. For the poster that stated living 100 miles from a major city and smoking is better than living in the city ... check your cancer statistics... My hometown has worse air quality than Los Angeles because of all the factories spewing carcinogens into the air....

It doesn't take a genius to see that smoking is bad. Second hand smoke is bad (after all- the smoker breathes the same chemicals through a FILTER that the second hand smoker inhales full force). Smoke is bad for adults - so it is obviously bad for children.

There is an old saying that goes "your right to punch ends at my nose." Your right to smoke should end at your children's lungs.

Smoking in my own house - disrespectful?
Posted: 11/24/2006 1:29:20 PM

I think us mature ones know that i do not smoke in front of my child.I have a room i smoke in and i take the steps to clean it and use a air purifier that works awesome.People who assume look so stupid it's laughable.Thx for all the support of respecting one's space.

Oh of course - we should know that you don't smoke in front of your kids when you started a thread pissed off at your friends that didn't want you smoking in front of them...

I forgot that we should automatically assume you've set up a special smokers room in your house But wait a second... were these friends in that special little room with you when they complained? Your statements are contradictory here.... oops!

You know what would make it easier for your kids to not be exposed to smoke though... NOT SMOKING!

I will support your right to no end to smoke in your own home by yourself (i.e. no other humans in the house). Even though it is a stupid thing to do - I think you have every right to be self destructive in private if you want, so don't get me wrong there. As far as your friends coming over - I don't think it is their RIGHT to demand you not smoke - it IS your house, however, it is a simple issue of manners and respect. If we go out to eat and I order a deep fat fryed ball of bacon and you are trying to eat healthy...it would be rude if I shoved the bacon down your throat. Your friends' desire to keep their lungs healthy should supercede your desire to blacken yours.

Now, back to the larger issue... your children... Forget your friends...they can leave if they don't like it. Cigarette smoke spreads through the air and unless you've got a hospital "clean room" style ventilation system you aren't going to keep it clear of your kids. Never mind the fact that they come to identify that horrible stench with "mommy" and will be drawn to cigarettes when they are older. Perhaps the biggest reason of all not to smoke when you have kids is... to live longer. Do you want to miss your grandkids being born because you HAD to smoke?

Smoking in my own house - disrespectful?

Rswindol..I really don't have this thread to argue with children and i mean children.

She's right Rswindol, she's too busy taking her kids to the doctor for asthma treatment from exposure to second hand smoke (although she's convinced it is due to something else) to waste time bantering with you.

Smoking in my own house - disrespectful?
Posted: 11/24/2006 9:56:45 AM
You're disgusting. I'm not going to be PC about this. You are a horrible person plain and simple.

You have children and you're on here discussing your right to smoke in front of your guests. Forget your guests, how about your kids?

I like juggling sharp knives with my eyes closed in my spare time, but when guests come over I open my eyes and put the knives down. Second hand smoke IS harmful, you're being an extremely bad host if you are forcing someone to subject themself to YOUR bad habit or leave when YOU invited them over.

Human beings are so funny. We'd rather make a fuss and stand up for our right to do something stupid than take someone else's advice and quit doing the stupid thing in the first place.

Smoking is stupid. People who smoke have to be on some level suicidal and/or stupid. Flame me all you want but you know it is true.

People who do this WITH CHILDREN are the lowest of the low. Do you give your kids cans of beer to drink when you get pizza on a friday night too? I guess that isn't the same - they could decide not to drink...they can't decide not to breath!

Once again I'll say what I've said before...we should have to get licenses to have children. And you, my dear, would never pass the test.

The OPs theory (whether he knew it or not) is an old one. It was first made really popular (and then subsequently forgotton) by Whitley Strieber's book "Communion" in 1983. There was even a feature film made from the book starring Christopher Walken. I'm not sure if the idea is introduced in the actual book - but the cover of the book featured a picture of an alien face, the archetype we have all come to know and love. The original painting was not done as a painting of an "alien" but of what the artist thought human beings might look like in another million years.

Just google "whitley strieber" and go from there.

The golden domers have been silent from their threads for a few days....

Must be at the church praying for a win tomorrow.

Honestly I don't understand the big battle over who gets to lose to Ohio State... Both teams will finish with the same record (two losses) anyway after bowl season (as long as the loser tomorrow doesn't ALSO lose their bowl game). I guess it is more honorable to be beat by Ohio State than Florida/Michigan/etc.

Who will face the Buckeyes in the BCS Title game??
Posted: 11/24/2006 8:54:18 AM
obviously we won't know the answer to this until tomorrow night. If USC wins tomorrow they'll go... if they lose...things will get ugly and we'll have people voting for UM...but other coaches (cough cough Florida cough cough Charlie Weis) ****ing nonstop about it. I think that would be the best scenario personally as it would bring us one step closer to forcing a playoff system in college football No more of this "we're co-champions because we THINK we should have gone to the title game" BS (speaking about USC from a few years back).

People out here in SoCal are so arrogant about USC that they are bragging (knowing I'm a Buckeye fan) about how they are the best team "ever" because they are "going to play in their 4th straight national championship." Nevermind the fact that they could lose tomorrow. Nevermind the fact that LSU won the championship in 2004 NOT USC.

The way I see it USC has one legit national title (recently) and has played in two. That is the same record as Larry Coker and Miami....and we know how "great" they are now....

hmmm....and who pummelled Cincy earlier this season?

If you can't beat the team the Bucks beat...you surely couldn't hang with the Bucks at the "Big Show" in January!

How about your most hated college football team??
Posted: 11/22/2006 12:37:19 PM

Obviously rigged by the officials- but hey what can you do?

I agree, many bad calls went Michigan's way. The never before used "pushing the center" call that took UM from a 4th and 27 punt to a 1st down on the 40 yard line. The "ground" interception that was called back and then later in the game a big UM catch that looked identical wasn't questioned. Several obvious intentional grounding instances by Chad Henne that weren't called. Pass interference called on an uncatchable throw that landed ten yards behind the receiver...and out of bounds....

etc. etc. etc. The officials (AND the fumbling OSU offense) kept giving the ball to Michigan - and they still couldn't pull off a win...

I agree with everything you said. The Buckeye defense was a little lax on Saturday...even the center had his mind somewhere else on a few snaps for the offense.

I think UM and OSU could both beat USC (and obviously Notre Dame). I'll have to admit that I haven't watched many Florida games so I'm not going to single them out... but from the fact that they've lost a regular season game and (as far as I know) it wasn't to a #1 team... I'd say the Bucks wouldn't have a tough time with them either.

Last years Texas or USC vs. this years OSU would be a great game... but this year UM is really the only other team that comes close.

but Troy is having better press and that translates into a big win for him

Yeah thats why.... Nothing to do with one quarterback beating UM and the other losing... or Quinn losing TO Smith when they played last January.

No...all media bias... thats totally what is going on...

Troy Smith gets press because he has fantastic games against ranked teams (i.e. Texas, Iowa, Michigan, and Notre Dame last January) ...Quinn has great games against - Army....

4 TD against Army is not the same as 4 TD against UM...

Troy Smith has a 3-0 record against arch rival Michigan. ...What is Quinn's record against USC and UM?

Smith has proven himself OVER and OVER again while Quinn sputters out in big games either losing or barely winning...and people in South Bend still think it is media bias? Yikes! The Jessie Jackson in me is starting to think Quinn fans might have an ulterior motive for not liking Troy Smith....

I agree about the score being closer than the actual game. Fumbles, interceptions and bad officiating swung things Michigan's way all day. I was watching the game with some California friends who had no interest in either team but just knew it was a big game ...and even they were flabbergasted with some of the calls (like the interception that was called back even though Michigan got an unchallenged reception in the same style a bit later). One of my friends was even starting to say he thought (only half jokingly) that Doug Datish was getting paid off to screw up those snaps... after all- he's been perfect all year and then now in the biggest game of the season two huge flubs....

It shows just how good OSU is that they could screw up so badly and still keep the lead for the vast majority of the game.

Because their one loss came to the #1 ranked team with the (now pretty much undisputed) heisman winner.

I suppose you'd rather see USC...who lost to an UNRANKED team get in? Or perhaps Notre Dame who got clobbered by Michigan (and almost MSU...who is doing so bad this season their coach got fired)... or maybe you're rooting for Rutgers who is still the only undefeated team - oh...wait... And guess who else played Cincinatti and beat them soundly earlier this season (here is a hint- their coach has a 5-1 record against Lloyd Carr)....

The plain truth is that if Michigan couldn't stop the Buckeyes (even with the buckeyes playing horribly in the third quarter)...who do you think will give them a challenge? Lets get real - the only teams that could challenge them are... LAST YEAR's Texas and USC teams...

Ohio State will have to beat THREE #2 ranked opponents to win the championship... and they've already done two out of three... do you think a one loss team could stand up to that? Michigan looks like the only team to even be able to make it close...so that is why we want to see a rematch... Oh - and so Mike Hart can eat his words!

"why can't they pipe in some decent music..?"

"should I just bite the bullet and get an ipod?"

"ugh, there is that amazing girl and her doofus boyfriend working out together again..."

"look a-hole, how about you use 100 pounds of resistance and spend two minutes on the machine instead of 40 pounds and spend 20?...I'm waiting...."

Are women truly more mature than men?
Posted: 11/9/2006 4:54:08 PM
I don't think anybody should wear make-up to the gym - in fact - the girls who DO wear make-up (or a LOT of it anyway) are the ones that I think are probably not too bright.

yes I suppose these girls COULD have rather talked about the environment... But anybody "could" do anything. I could quit my job right now and take my savings and move to India - but based on what people already know about me they would not be likely to predict that...and they'd be right... The simplest explanation is usually the right one.

By the way, their conversation continued on as "yeah, basketball is so stupid" "what is the big deal" etc. etc. ...no "yeah, I'd rather talk about something more important to humanity"....

Lets be honest here - most women AND men don't readily discuss truly important things. If they did we would not have the son of a one term president in the white house and people still thinking that global warming is a "theory" that "requires more study"... but that is a topic for a whole other thread....

To get back to the point I was originally trying to make... Maturity is "in the eye of the beholder." Defining what maturity is is a bit like trying to define pornography... we can't slap an easy definition on it - but we know it when we see it. I personally don't think either sex is more mature - I think we're both just lucky if we can find other mature people (at least in my age group).

First of all, that's a gross assumption, and therefore not necessarily true. Don't judge people by what they wear or what accent they may have...you could (and usually do) make an ass of yourself.

OT: It has been scientifically proven that women mature faster than men (by about two years)...however, if you put a group of us in pajamas, introduce a couple bottles of wine and an assortment of board games or raunchy topics, science may lose some of its credibility.

They were judging the men at the gym - of which I am one, thus giving me license to judge them. As for making a gross assumption - I think saying all the guys in a (huge) room are stupid just because they like to argue about a professional sports team is also a gross assumption. As for judging them on their clothing.... nobody "accidentally" puts on a $100 shirt to work out at the gym... ...especially a woman.

I thought the scientific maturity theory applied to the body - not the brain. Just because your boobs grew in two years before I could shave doesn't mean you're more intellectually mature. If you want to go that route you'd have to say that people (like extremely short people) who have endocrine system problems are immature. Are you going to say that?

I was at the gym yesterday and as I walked past the womens locker room two young women were going in. They were talking about how "stupid" guys are because all they talk about at the gym are the Lakers' championship prospects this year.

We are in Los Angeles.

At the gym, with two basketball courts inside.

NBA games were playing on the tvs by the cardio equipment.

I can't say for sure, but the way they were dressed (expensive "workout" outfits and make-up) and the way they were talking (valley girls) indicate that their favorite topics are probably shoes and the best/worst dressed list at the oscars.... WAY more important topics than the local NBA team. Trust me...these weren't the kind of girls you'd expect to be discussing the election or alternative energy sources...

Different things are important to both sexes because of the chemicals flowing through our bloodstream. We both think our interests are more important and the other is "stupid." I always remind myself when I think "why did she do/say that?!" that the woman in question says the same thing to herself about my actions/words.

Does every guy want that one thing right now?
Posted: 11/8/2006 7:57:01 AM

o my god I am thinking exactly the same thing i have one guy every time i log on he IM's me asking if im gaggin for sex and will i send him dirty pics.

Is this some new slang term I haven't heard about yet? What is "gaggin for sex?" Sounds rough!

i like this site but i think it erases lads need to be discreet about wat they really wnt if u dont wnt anything seroius why are u on a dating site? hence the word dating not F***ing if all u guys want is tht ,why not just go on hotsluts site or something and pay for your membership thats all it is these guys tht just wnt sex are too cheap to pay so maybe were best off without these sort of guys!!!!!!!

Whoa, if you're going to have run-on sentences back to back at least leave the vowels in the words...

and if ur one of these guys seroiusly guys get some patients are we not worth the weight?

Some patients to experiment on? Like mad scientists? Or are you making a joke about playing doctor? Worth what weight; your weight in gold?

You gals are only proving my point. Intelligent mature guys (the ones you profess to deserve) want intelligent mature women. Intelligent mature women know the difference between "patients" and "patience"; "weight" and "wait." They also know that the words "that" and "want" have an "a" and "what" has an "h"....

Are these guys you are meeting on POF? If so, your problem is about to get a lot worse. Now whenever you turn down the guy on the first date he is going to think you aren't interested since he read about the fact that you slept with your other dates...

there is a reason behind my name. and I am not about to post it on here. For you to judge me on my name and my age is not really mature of you.

You chose your name; we didn't. The fact that it has some significance to you means nothing to anyone else as they don't know anything about you. We are all here to be judged - this is a dating site. The second thing anyone sees (after your photo) to judge you on is your screen name. You can make it anything you want...if it doesn't represent who you are (and you aren't willing to explain its significance) why on earth would you keep it?

I am probably mofre mature than half the people in the course that I am taking. Just because my name say Babygurl doesnt mean sh!t

Your excellent grammar and spelling skills certainly prove your point here. The grading curve in that course must be interesting with you at the top as one of the "mofre" intelligent students. From the looks of your writing skills I'm going to hazard a wild guess that this course isn't at Harvard.

and I can't believe that you called me a gold digger.. again judging me.

Well, at least I read your whole post before I responded.... if you go back and actually read what I said I didn't call you a gold digger, I was giving an example of another misleading sn....but you're way too mature to actually attempt to fully understand something before writing an angry response to it, right?...

i am sorry that I wont "put out" the first or second or third time.

Good for you... I don't remember saying anything about this in my response...but obviously you didn't read it all the way through so I'm not surprised...

So take a look at yourself before judging me and making comments on me because you know nothing about me or my background.. NO OFFENCE or anything!!!

so tell us about your background... tell us what your sn means... I don't have to look at myself... I didn't start a thread asking everyone to psychoanalyze my bad luck with the opposite sex - you did! "Hey everybody, judge me... but uh... only if you have something nice to say!"

Also - if I was going to put two words in caps I'd run spellcheck before I posted...but I suppose only immature losers like me read their post and/or spellcheck before posting!
