Has physiotherapy or other modalities helped anyone with frozen shoulder?
Posted:

I have a small rotator cuff tear and tendonitis in my shoulder. At first I went to the chiropractor for ultrasound treatments but they didn't help a lot. My range of motion in my shoulder isn't good. My doctor is giving me anti-inflammatories which is hard on the stomach.
I've been to physio therapy for the past month and I get ultrasound, a tens like machine with electrical impulses and some acupuncture. I've also been given exercises that I can do at home. I try to do all the exercises at least once or twice a day and my range of motion is getting better but I still cannot reach behind my back yet. I also had a massage today.
Unfortunately my medical coverage at work only covers $25.00 per visit for physio, chiropractor and massage therapy so I'm out of pocket on these treatments as well.
I will be going to a Sports Medicine doctor in a couple of months. I don't know how I got the problem. It started bugging me last fall and just got worse. I've had injuries to it years ago and maybe it's coming back to haunt me.
Has anyone else had this problem and what treatment worked best for you? Did you know the cause of your "frozen shoulder" or did it come on gradually like it did for me?
Have you had recent problems in an area you injured years ago?
If anyone knows of any natural herbs that might be helpful for swelling and pain, please let me know. Thanks.

I personally know of someone who sold their old custom made pair of orthotics for $12.00 on e-Bay. I have old custom made orthotics as well, I should sell them too. You never know.

Jack Canfield, co-author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" and who was in the movie "The Secret", is a transformational speaker who will be coming to Toronto on Saturday May 23rd, to do a one day workshop on Success Principles.
Is anyone going to it and has anyone ever been to see Jack Canfield speak live? This will be my first time seeing him and I am looking forward to it.

Is any one going to see Anthony Robbins in Toronto in June?
Posted:
3/21/2009 12:16:12 AM
I love Anthony Robbins as he is one of my favourite motivational speakers of all time. He is coming to Toronto on June 11, 12, 13, and 14th for his 4 day week-end called "Unleash the Power Within"
He helps you get rid of self-limiting beliefs that hold you back and you meet other awesome people. If you are interested in changing your outlook on life, then I recommend going.
I have gone to this week-end before and it changed my perspective on a few areas of my life.
Has anyone else ever gone to his events and how did it affect you? Is anyone going to the event in Toronto this year in June?

It's hard to believe that with all the members on POF, only 200 are using Politics or Current Events or Religion.
Politics and Current events are my favourite forums. I like to know what's going on in the world and what others think. I know POF is an excellent dating site but there are people like me who love the forums and it's an excellent way to meet people of similar interests.
A profile only says so much, but seeing people's opinion on ideas is really interesting as long as they don't flame others for differences of opinions.
Since we are not allowed to post websites on the forums, if anyone wants to message me I will tell you about another forum where Politics, Current events and other topics can be discussed. Someone informed me about this site and I'm going to join it as I love forums.

Should Dion step down as leader of Canada's Federal Liberal Party?
Posted:
10/16/2008 8:44:26 PM
The Liberal party lost two dozen seats in the recent election and newspapers are anonomously quoting Liberal MP's who are saying he should step down. On the news tonight Joe Volpe a Liberal M.P. said he should step down.
Friends of mine did not vote Liberal because they saw Dion as being a weak leader and doing poorly in the debates. One person I know did a "protest vote" which is signing in at the polls but putting nothing on the ballot before dropping it in. They also want someone who can speak clear english.
I believe that the results would still have been a Conservative minority but not by 144 seats if there was someone other than Dion in the Captain's seat. I read in one newspaper yesterday that Dion wrote his own platform without input from his cabinet. Although his platform involved taxing carbon energy and lowering income taxes to offset that, I don't believe people understood it well enough. Although using green energy is something to strive towards, people are more worried about the economy right now and wouldn't care about lowered income taxes (when they are laid off and don't have much of an income) while paying more to heat their homes (which they would be in danger of losing due to being laid off). His green plan and tax shift would be better in a strong economy, not approaching a recession.
I believe that Dion deeply cares about Canada but I hope he decides to step down as leader as his leadership is probably the real reason the Conservatives won more seats. There are other Liberal M.P.s that would make good leaders.
I would like to know others opinions on this issue.

I'm relieved that Harper still only has a minority government
Posted:
10/15/2008 5:43:43 AM
I'm glad that Harper still only has a minority government. I still believe he has a right wing secret agenda if he gets a majority government. He has broken promises on taxing income trusts, having an election before the fixed election date (that he set), and others.
He also scrapped the National childcare that the Liberals put in place for $100./month taxable child benefit which doesn't even cover a week's worth of childcare.
Instead of the 2% GST cut I would have rather seen it given to cities and so my house taxes wouldn't go up as much because cities are having trouble financing and replacing aging infrastructure.
I think that Dion is a weak Liberal leader and that's probably the reason his party lost seats. It could also be the fact he is so focused on his green plan when people are more concerned about the economy.
I'm hoping this minority government works well together and that Harper doesn't call another election in a couple of months just because he doesn't get his way. It's obvious Canadians didn't want a Conservative majority. Now it's up to all the parties to work together to help the economy and implement policies (like Harper said last night) that will help "all Canadians"
Is anyone else relieved that Harper has a minority government and not a majority?

Canada's 2008 Election... Conservative win a lock?
Posted:
10/4/2008 9:30:19 PM
I hope that Harper does not have a majority government as some of the posters here have mentioned he believes in privatized medicine and has broken promises already as a minority government. The Registered Nurses Association (RNAO) asked all parties to present their platform and answer questions the RNAO had about different topics. All the parties responded EXCEPT the Conservatives. If you want to learn more about the different Parties platforms you can go to the RNAO website and you will be able to read them, of course, except the Conservatives who declined to answer the RNAO. I'd like to know what they have to hide.
I too take natural remedies and in many cases have found them superior to antibiotics; therefore, Bill 51 the legislation to change the Food and Drug Act to include natural remedies, thus making them more expensive scares me.
I saw a pamphlet that said they did this in Germany and the prices of natural vitamins etc. went up. In Canada you can pay $5 - $10.00 for Vitamin C but in Germany they can pay up to $50.00 because it's now under big Pharma.
Harper promised transparency during the last election but he spends most of his time hiding from reporters. When he speaks with the media, it's him presenting his agenda and they aren't allowed to ask questions.
He also promised not to have an election until 2009 and yet because the economy is bad, I believe he fears losing if Canada hits a recession by 2009 and he's forcing an election now.
My other concern is that Jim Flaherty (Finance Minister) and Tony Clement (Health Minister) held these positions on the Provincial level under Ontario premiere Mike Harris under this extreme right wing government. During this time Ontario hospitals and health care were devastated, social services were cut and Ontario was left with a $5.7 billion deficit due to tax refunds and therefore program cuts. I'd hate to see this happen on a National level.
The polls show that Harper will get in, but I pray it's only a minority government as that's the only thing that will keep him in check.

Is anyone going to watch the Federal Election Debate and are you voting?
Posted:
10/3/2008 4:53:20 PM
I was working last night so I taped the debate and will watch it this week-end as I want to vote early. I receive e-mail from the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and I've cut and pasted their recent e-mail to me regarding the election. I find it interesting that they received campaign platforms from all the candidates except the Conservatives. They also share the importance of voting. In the letter they have links to click about the election and what the different parties platforms are. To know what the links are just type RNAO in your browser and their website will come up. You will see these links (below) that you can click on for more info.
*
Federal Election Platform Comparison
*
RNAO's 2008 Federal Election Platform: Putting Health First
*
2008 Federal Election Questionnaire
*
Responses to Federal Election Questionnaire
*
Other activities and events
Anyway here is the cut and past of the letter:
The federal election is less than two weeks away, and RNAO is continuing to ensure all RNs right across Ontario have the information they need to make an informed decision on voting day.
RNAO has created Putting Health First, [PDF] a report that outlines where RNAO stands on the major health issues that matter to nurses: poverty, the environment, not-for-profit health, and the investment needed to ensure there are enough health-care professionals to serve the public. We’ve also examined where each party stands on those issues in our Federal Election Platform Comparison [PDF]. So far, the association has been able to compare the Liberal, Green and NDP platforms. The Conservative Party has not yet released its platform.
The Canadian Nurses Association has also compiled its own comparison to help members stay informed.
CNA and the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions have also launched a brand-new group: Nurses for Medicare. The group, which promotes a strong, publicly funded, not-for-profit health care system in Canada, offers many resources about Medicare that can be used to inform questions you can ask candidates who come to your door.
Once you’ve informed yourself about all the issues and have made a decision based on your own views and beliefs, don’t forget to get out and vote! Advance polls are open across the country this weekend. On Election Day, Oct. 14, polls will be open from 9:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time, and 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the Central Time Zone. Employers are bound by law to provide time for employees to vote. Visit the Frequently Asked Questions of the Elections Canada website for more information.
As you research the issues that matter to you, please feel free to share this information with family, friends and colleagues. You can find all RNAO's election resources on our website.
Kind regards,
RNAO's Policy Department

Is anyone going to watch the Federal Election Debate and are you voting?
Posted:

I will be watching the Federal election debate this Thursday. I like to know how the parties respond to different topics in their platforms. I've heard that the media are having trouble getting close to Stephen Harper and he is really just giving press releases and not answering reporters questions. At least that's what I've read in the paper.
I would like to know how he answers in the debate - will he give general sugar coated answers or will he answer honestly. I personally feel we are in trouble if we get a majority Conservative government but I still want to see what his and the other Leaders answers are.
I went on the Federal Parties websites the other day and learned a bit more about the Liberal Green Plan. It should be interesting listening to all the Party leaders.
I also feel that people who don't vote don't have a right to complain about the government.
On October 8th the Registered Nursing Association of Ontario is hosting a debate for health care concerns. All the parties responded except the Conservatives to attend this debate.
Makes me wonder as health care is a big issue for Canadians.
Do others listen to the election debates either at the Leadership level or for candidates in your own ridings and are you planning on voting?

Does anyone watch the Terminator - Sarah Conner chronicles
Posted:

I loved all the Terminator movies and have all the DVD's for them. I was impressed they came out with a series on Monday nights - Terminator - The Sarah Conner Chronicles. It's supposed to be the time between the second movie and the last Terminator movie. The special effects are similar to the movies although you don't see as much of it.
Being a Terminator fan, I personally like the series, even though Arnold isn't in it.
Does anyone else watch this series and do you like it?

Vacations for Singles?
Posted:
9/29/2008 2:27:38 PM
I have a question for a couple of posters here.
Acattivo: When you went on your singles cruise, did you have to pay a single premium? Were you in a room by yourself or did you request to share with another single you didn't know to keep costs down. If you were in a room by yourself, how much was it in USD.
Photopilit1: How much do you pay to rent an apartment in Havana. How did you find the apartment? Would renting an apartment in Havana be safe for a single woman?
SharonAlexis: What hotel did you stay at that doesn't charge a singles premium. Is there more than one hotel? I've never been to Cuba but have known people who have been there and really liked it.
I would like to go to Cuba or on a cruise in the next year or two and don't have anyone to go with and that's why I'm asking these questions.
I'm also wondering if anyone from POF has been on a vacation with others from POF so your not travelling alone. Of course you would hope that your personalities match.
Another question: Has anyone ever gone to Europe by themselves or met up with other singles to go to Europe, and what was it like?
Great topic OP.

Harper Spending 4 Million Dollars an Hour
Posted:
9/24/2008 10:25:59 PM
The conservatives have already spent alot of money even before the election campaign started with their mail out trashing the other parties and you can put an X on the party that's doing this or that (their party). These were postage paid propoganda and there wasn't enough room on them to write your own comments. I e-mailed my local M.P. Colin Carrie and asked about how much the government is spending on these mailings which would come out about twice a month. Three weeks later I got a response from his assistant saying he would pass it on to Mr. Carrie and I would get a response. I'm glad I didn't hold my breath as I'm still waiting.
If Stephen Harper gets a majority government, I'm concerned that nationally we will get another round of the P.C. Ontario a few years back where we got nice tax cuts but social services were trashed to pay for them and we were left with a 5.7 billion short fall. Some the the M.P's in Harper's government were in Mike Harris's government like Jim Flaherty who said that no one should invest in Ontario as taxes are too high. This was an insult to the men and women who are losing their manufacturing jobs. What he doesn't realize is "It's the economy stupid" A quote used by a previous U.S. president.
I don't trust Harper and I think he has a hidden agenda if he has a majority government. He's already lied about a few things, like a fixed election date in 2009, transparency - nothing gets out without his approval, and the allegations of trying to buy off Independant M.P. Chuck Cadman to bring down the Liberals. Chuck Cadman voted for the Liberals in this confidence vote.
This is my first time on the forums in a long time and I found out that the Politics and Current Events sections have been closed down. I hope we are still allowed to talk about politics and current events on POF on provincial or Off Topic forums as I like freedom of speech and am interested in both politics and current events.

Regarding Adam, there is another article from Globe and Mail

All About Adam - 16 Year Old BC Remote Healer
By Alexandra Gill
The Globe and Mail
7-9-3
VANCOUVER -- Adam doesn't seem extraordinary. Tall and handsome, with short, brown hair and a trace of dark fluff on his upper lip, he looks like a typical 16-year-old.
He's a sporty guy who plays basketball and snowboards. In his spare time, he lifts weights, listens to alternative rock music and hangs out with his girlfriend.
If you met Adam in a mall, you would never in a million years guess that this is the kid who claims to possess an extrasensory X-ray vision that helped him to cure rock 'n' roll legend Ronnie Hawkins of terminal pancreatic cancer.
"The most important thing for us is to protect his anonymity so he can enjoy life as a normal teenager," Adam's mom says when I meet him and his parents this week at a secret location in the suburbs of Vancouver.
Normal might be an odd adjective to use to describe a young man who says he can see a heart beating within a chest, or pop cancer cells inside people on the other side of the planet as effortlessly as most kids squeeze a pimple.
But other than his girlfriend, none of Adam's friends are aware of his supposed abilities. "I'd like to keep it that way for as long as possible," says Adam, attacking a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a fork. "I'll come out when I finish high school."
He says he has healed more than 300 people from ailments that range from breast cancer to genital herpes during the past two years. He charges $75 per treatment, but he says he has never turned anyone away because of an inability to pay.
Most of his clients have heard of him by word of mouth. All contacts are made through his Web site Distant Healing and he no longer heals anyone in person. Because of an overwhelming response, he has recently decided to focus his efforts on people with terminal cancer that has not spread, and in situations when chemotherapy, radiation and surgery are not recommended.
The mysterious, self-professed distance healer has become a minor sensation this week, after Mr. Hawkins issued a press release to announce his recovery and sing Adam's praises. Adam's father, who administers the Web site, says he has had to turn down more than 100 requests in the past few days alone.
"I wish I could treat everyone, but I am only one person," says Adam, who is currently offering help to four cancer patients, and has a waiting list of 10.
Adam and his family are well aware that this interview will only draw more seekers to his site. But they have agreed to sit down and share their story because Adam has just written a book that he hopes will help people heal themselves. Hot off the press this week, DreamHealer was self-published with the revenues that Adam has earned from his treatments. The book costs $23 (plus shipping and handling), and is offered for sale at http://www.dreamhealer.com and http://www.ronniehawkins.com
The book includes a chapter about Mr. Hawkins's miraculous recovery. Adam says he read about the rocker's terminal illness in the paper. Although he had not treated anyone with cancer, he thought that he might be able to help and contacted the singer's manager in October. The doctors had predicted that Mr. Hawkins would be dead by Christmas.
As long as he doesn't have to throw a dead black cat over his back in a hurricane, he'll try anything, Mr. Hawkins's manager told Adam.
Apparently, Mr. Hawkins was the perfect case study. The doctors couldn't operate because the tumour was wrapped around an artery. The cancer hadn't spread. And the Hawk had refused drugs and chemotherapy.
The treatments began almost immediately. Each evening, Mr. Hawkins would sit at home in Peterborough, Ont., with his feet firmly planted on the floor. (The feet aren't essential, says Adam, adding that he has treated a woman mid-flight from China to Canada before. "But it grounds the energy and makes the treatment more effective.")
Meanwhile, somewhere in British Columbia, Adam would sit in his bedroom and concentrate on a colour photograph of Mr. Hawkins. ("I could do black-and-white, but colour provides more of a vivid connection.")
Within a few minutes, Adam would experience a jolt, Mr. Hawkins would experience a slight tingling sensation, and the connection was made: Adam could visualize the tumour.
"What I see when I go into someone is a 3-D holographic image," Adam says. "I can see energy blockages, the problems, whatever. It looks like a 3-D image of the body, with different layers.
"I can see a physical layer: the heart beating, guts moving, that sort of stuff. Then there's a layer that's just like a hollow image of the person and there are green dots where there are problems -- or green bulges, depending on the problem."
He manipulates the bad dots to heal people. "Just like a computer. I take it out, or whatever," he says, waving his hands to demonstrate, as a conductor might wave a baton. "I move my hands around, because I can see the image in front of me. It's just easier to visualize myself splitting it in half if I use my hands."
Adam says he has developed several different methods for healing. With Mr. Hawkins, he tried to bombard the tumour with energy. "You just vibrate it until it pops. It pops quite easily. It doesn't disperse. It just floats around and eventually your body eats it away.
"With Ronnie, it was dead after a few treatments. But I kept treating him until it was all gone, just to make sure. We did a treatment every day for three weeks, and every other day for another month."
Mr. Hawkins had a CT scan and MRI last month. The cancer is apparently gone.
"I've come to believe that the Big Rocker works in mysterious ways," Hawkins writes in a testimonial reprinted in Adam's book.
"For whatever it is that Adam does, whatever he did for me, I don't understand it and I don't criticize what I don't understand. I know Adam can't help everyone on the planet, but I hope people will believe that there is more to our world than we see and understand."
Adam says he discovered his "gift" two years ago. His mother, who has multiple sclerosis, was lying in bed, suffering from a throbbing headache. "I don't know exactly why I did it, but I put my hand over her head and the pain was gone," he says.
His mother interjects: "But the problem was?"
"The problem was, I was just learning how to do this, and when I put my hand over her head, I took the pain. It felt like someone stabbing me inside the head."
His mother nods emphatically. "That's exactly what it felt like."
They were quite scared at first, but not entirely surprised. Ever since Adam was a toddler, his parents have believed that he could see energy fields, more commonly known as auras. They were open to the idea, they say -- Adam's maternal great-grandmother had a similar ability, and there were native shamans on his father's side.
As he got older, he began picking up random images from strangers./]
"I've sort of become used to it, and I've learned to dim it down. I've got increasing intuitiveness now. I just know things. Which is much better than seeing it all, because when I used to walk through crowded places, it was blinding. I had to walk with my head down."
The family's research into the phenomenon led them to Dr. Effie Poy Yew Chow, a practitioner of quigong (Chinese energy-flow massage) and a member of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy, who helped Adam develop his approach to healing.
"I have observed innumerable international healers," Dr. Chow writes in the foreword to DreamHealer. "Adam is amongst the most gifted ones in his field of healing."
Adam and his parents understand that many people might be skeptical.
"I was skeptical too," says Adam's dad, a kindly, olive-skinned man, with a salt-and-pepper mustache, who is dressed in a conservative, button-down shirt. He has taken time off work to attend the interview.
"But I've felt it. He's worked on my tennis elbow. He'd start working on it in the car, right after a match, and by the time we got home, there was no problem."
Adam says he has chosen to do distance healing because it's just as effective as healing in person. "And I don't really have the time to do it in person. When you do it in person, they want to talk a lot and discuss what's happening. I'm still in high school and I've got a lot of homework. And basketball."
Speaking of which, his gift offers a few side benefits, he says. "In basketball, when someone's going to pass the ball, there's a spike in their aura. It only happens a split second before they pass, but that's enough to give you a bit of an advantage. I get a lot of interceptions that way."
And then, like any other normal teenager who has been given parental permission to skip an afternoon of school, he looks at his watch and smiles at his parents. "I guess I'm missing my last class."

Also the people I mentioned who were at the seminar. They had been healed previously, not at this seminar and had their cures verified by C.T. scans or MRI's. They were telling their stories at this seminar. I realized my original wording made it sound like it was this seminar they were healed at.
I was watching the Oprah show on Tues. and her doctor Dr. Mehmet Oz talked about acupuncture and how that helps heal people. They had an acupuncture doctor on the show as well. More people seem to be believing in alternative medicines.
Chatte,
I liked what you said about using alternative treatments and food to treat a cat in kidney failure. I had years ago that I had to put down because of kidney failure, but before that the Vet ordered a low protein diet. I have two healthy 7 year old cats now and I'd like to keep them that way.

Has anyone been to an Anthony Robbins seminar or listened to his C.D.'s

State of mind has everything to do as to whether you get burnt or not.
When I was younger my dad used to have parties at our house and hypnotize his friends. He used to stick his finger on their arm and tell them it was a cigarette. Well they got blisters on their arms.
Tony Robbins told us of a story where he did the firewalk, was in state and so didn't get burnt but got out of state after the walk. He didn't realize he had a coal attached to his ankle and got a sever burn on it. He was out of state at the time. He told us this to remind us to wipe our feet on the wet grass (while in state) after the firewalk and they also have people to wet your feet.
When I did the firewalk, I didn't feel the coals but had to be reminded to wipe my feet.
The point of the firewalk is to show you can go past your self imposed limitations. This was done on the first night of the 4 day seminar and the rest focused on how we can go past our own limiting beliefs.
I encourage anyone to attend one of his "Unleash the Power Within" 4 day work shops or order some C.D.'s from him. I'm listening to his C.D.s now and am finding it helpful to change my state of mind in some negative situations I encounter. I also attend a monthly Toronto Power Group, for people who have attended his seminars or listened to his C.D's and want to keep the momentum going with positive like minded people.
He uses the approach of NLP (Neuro LInguisitic Programming) or as he calls it "Neuro Associative Programming." For those who are skepic, I encourage you to keep an open mind and attend a Unleash the Power Within workshop or go to the library and read one of his books or listen to the C.D.s.

Do you use alternative medical practitioners and have they helped?
Posted:

I go to a chiropractor and massage therapy for my back. I have also been to a naturopath and have taken naturopathic medicines to prevent me from getting bronchitis when I get a cold and I find they are helpful. I've had lasor therapy on my wrist when I strained the tendon and it helped it greatly.
Today I went to a seminar to learn about distant healing and healing by Intention. It was put on by the long distant healer "Adam" who wrote the "Dreamhealer" books. He is a young man from Canada who has the ability to see aura's and heal people. He healed singer Ronnie Hawkins of his terminal pancreatic cancer. He doesn't know the reason why he can heal people but knows he can. He is taking biology and DNA courses in University to help him understand the how. He thinks it may have to do with Quantum physics.
In his workshop and books he teaches people how they can heal themselves by positive intentions, visulization and meditation and today there were two people who healed themselves of cancer at the workshop. One had pancreatic cancer like Ronnie Hawkins.
He was saying that the standard medical professionals don't accept this concept as they don't understand it. He used the example about years ago the medical field thought that handwashing and sterilizing instruments between surgeries was crazy even though their patients were dying of infection. It wasn't until Louie Pasteur discovered bacteria that they changed their ideas on this as they knew the reason people were getting sick and dying after surgeries.
I know Reiki Masters learn to send healing intentions to their patients either in person or long distance.
I believe that alternative medicine can work hand in hand with standard allopathic medicine.
Has anyone else had success by using an alternative practitioner of any kind in helping or healing you of whatever medical problem you have had, or have you had success yourself with visualizations and positive intentions in overcoming a medical problem?

Do you want a fall election if Stephen Harper calls for one?
Posted:
8/28/2008 10:05:17 PM
I've been reading in the papers that Stephen Harper is contemplating calling a fall election when parliament resumes on Sept 5th.
From what I've read in the papers, the conservatives are thinking of doing this as they are financially flush and the Liberal party are still paying off debts from their leadership campaign and from the last election campaign. Even if the Conservatives win another minority government, it will put the Liberal party into more debt and they will probably want to oust Mr. Dion and then spend more money on another leadership campaign.
If they do launch an election, I hope the Conservatives don't become a majority as a lot of their members were under the Ontario Conservatives under Mike Harris when health care and other social services were slashed drastically to pay for tax cuts and Ontario was left in a 5 billion dollar deficit. Jim Flaherty (former finance minister for Ontario) has said that companies should not invest in Ontario. This is a slap in the face for thousands of Ontario workers who have already lost their jobs or will lose their jobs in the manufacturing, hospitality and airline sectors.
I'm not looking forward to a fall election right now, but if there is one, the Conservatives will not get my vote but the Liberals don't have a strong leader.
Does anyone else care if there is an election called in the fall?

Could you exist today without a CELL phone????
Posted:
8/22/2008 8:11:31 PM
I only have a pay as you go phone as I usually only use it for emergency's or if I'm connecting with friends or so work can call me if I'm on the overtime list.
I was grateful to have it when I've had car problems.
I've also had to use it in a bank kiosk when a female stranger and her two male companions were threatening to me when I was in a bank kiosk in the evening (although it was still light outside). When they saw me calling 911 and talking to the 911 operator they left the area and I could get safely in my car. I didn't have a camera phone then, but the one I have now is a camera phone and if that ever happens again I will be gladly snapping a pic and showing it to the police.
I wouldn't want my cell phone to be my primary phone like some people do, as researchers are discovering it may cause brain cancer with constant long term use.

Random Tim Hortons Question....
Posted:
8/16/2008 10:18:17 PM
I know someone who works at Timmys and is treated like sh*t by her boss. Not all Timmy's is like this, but the one she works for is.
I don't believe that all employees have been properly trained in hygiene principles. I walked into Timmy's the other day and ordered their chili combo. The server put his fingers in the chili bowl (instead of handling just the outsite of the bowl) before he was going to put the chili in. I asked him to used a different bowl and let him know why.
I've also seen that with the cups. The employees will sometimes grab the inside of the cups with their fingers instead of just touching the outside. It's no wonder viruses are spread.
If you order through drive through you don't see that.
Even when I'm in a grocery store at the deli department and I see someone cleaning the counters and they come and serve me, If they haven't already done so, I will ask them to wash their hands first before serving me. I do it politely so as not to offend them.
Since I work in health care, I'm quite aware that proper handwashing helps prevent a virus from spreading.
I love Timmy's coffee, I just wish they would treat their workers better and give them proper hygienic instruction. I also wish they would serve some healthier food choices. If you order a combo, I've tried to substitute with a large from a medium coffee instead of a donut or cookie. This would be cheaper for them and healthier for me, but they won't do this substitution. Maybe sometime they will get the message.

Stock Market Stories
Posted:
8/15/2008 9:28:49 PM
I am reading books and listening to C.D.'s about stock investing. I also subscribe to a couple of business magazines and two business type newspapers - The Globe and Mail and the National Post. I am trying to learn more about stock investing.
A couple of years ago I made the mistake of buying Tim Hortons stock when the stock first became public. I bought 52 shares for about 36.00/share. It then went down to about $27 or $28.00 a share shortly after. After a couple of years it finally went up to the price I bought it for and I sold it then and got my money back. I knew nothing about buying stocks at that time and was exciting to be buying shares in Canada's leading coffee shop. (I love their coffee by the way).
Since reading books and listening to C.D's etc., I learned that buying stocks on the very first day a company goes public is a bad idea as the price will rise. It's best to wait a few days until the dust settles and you will usually get them cheaper.
I am still continuing my "financial education" as I call it and am still reading, learning and listening. I bought a course on Stock Options trading and still have to go through it. I also signed up for a stock info service that gives you recommendations on two stocks a month and lets you know what the current price is, what range you should pay for it, when to sell it etc. I haven't bought any stocks through it yet, as I'm concentrating now on stocks with dividends as recommended by another book I'm reading.
I find just learning about it very interesting. I'm collapsing an RRSP mutual fund which has done nada over the 10 years I've had it and will be placing it in my broker account so that I can trade it. Since I'm educating myself, I'm confident I will do better than that mutual fund and I will keep a close eye on it. This will be my first "Self Directed" RRSP and I think it's exciting. An yes I know their are risks, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Have you found any meaning to life..?
Posted:
8/10/2008 8:55:42 PM
First of all, sorry to hear about your loss OP. I've lost a few important people in my life in the last 10 years and it wasn't easy.
I have been reading books and listening to C.D's, and attending seminars about financial stuff and spiritual stuff.
On one of the financial C.D's I listened to by Donald Trump and Robert Kiosaki called "Why we want you to be Rich". Donald Trump makes an interesting comment. He talks about when we are born we all receive a credit card called "time" with no expiry date, as we don't know when we will expire. He said this is the most important gift we have is time and what are we doing with it? Are we wasting time or being productive. He said, you can always make back lost money, but you can never make back time. It made me realize, that although, I need down time, I could be more productive in life than I am and not waste as much time watching T.V. I've already started being more productive with my free time and am watching less T.V.
I also went to an Anthony Robbins "Unleash the Power" seminar and realized that we bring our own meaning in life and living with Passion is important. I'm not living with passion in my job but am looking at other ways to make an income so that I can go to part-time work or retire, and do what I'm passionate about. That's why I'm listening to financial C.D.s and reading books on real-estate investing, starting your own business, stock investments etc. I'm focused on making enough money to retire early and doing what I'm passionate about.
The people who are the happiest in life, are in careers they are passionate about. They also focus on others, not just themselves. "We" not just "me", as awesome relationships help give meaning to life.
I also believe that gratitude plays a big factor in the meaning of life. When I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed, I reflect on and thank God about what I'm grateful for to keep me in a positive frame of mind. (I want to see the glass half full, not half empty) Some people who have everything complain about a lot, and yet you see individuals who have gone through a lot being happy and grateful for what they do have.

Do you write letters to the editors to voice your opinions on political issues?
Posted:
7/31/2008 11:40:49 PM
Every so often I read an article in the paper about the views of federal or provincial politicians. Usually it's when I disagree about an issue and am passionate on the subject. Over the years I have had letters to the editor published in "The Toronto Star" and my local newspaper. I do this because a lot of people read letters to the editors and I want to make a difference. Some politicians have changed their policies in the past when there has been a big backlash.
One example of this is in Ontario when the former P.C. government fired nurses and had to rehire them and deregulated electricity and had such a backlash they changed their minds.
There were many letter to the editors on these subjects with people writing their local politicians as well. It doesn't always work and people may think that their letters won't make any difference.
I know one thing for sure, there won't be any difference unless action is taken. Ordinary people have made a difference in society by taking action. A good example is a young Canadian named Terry Fox who lost his leg to cancer and ran on an artificial leg to raise money for cancer. The cancer came back during his run across Canada and he died but every year there is a Terry Fox run in many communities in Canada to raise money for cancer.
There are many examples of people who have taken a step to make a difference.
Has anyone else written letters to the editors or your local or federal politicians to make a difference?

Has anyone been to an Anthony Robbins seminar or listened to his C.D.'s
Posted:
7/31/2008 11:04:51 PM
I recently attended a Anthony Robbins "Unleash the Power Within" week-end seminar that was held in Toronto and got a lot out of it. I also have his C.D's. I learned that to be successful in anything: relationships, finances etc. is due to 80% mindset and 20% action.
He proved this by teaching us to get into a mind state and then walking on a bed of coals of 1000 to 2000 degrees F. without even feeling it on our feet and not getting burns, where most stoves get to 600 degrees F. and people burn themselves with a brief touch. That was an awesome feeling, walking on coals and not getting burned.
I also learned that when we want to accomplish something that we have inner conflict and subconciously self sabotage ourselves. I learned to find out how to identify conflict and give it less power.
I feel more positive and in more control over my attitudes since attending the conference.
Since he does week-end seminars in a lot of countries all over the world, I was wondering if anyone else has either attended his seminars, read his books, or listened to his C.D.'s and has it helped you have a different perspective on life. I bought some more C.D's to keep the momentum up as living a life of passion is not a want anymore but a must for me.

I had a great time on the cruise and meeting all you people. Even though it was my first meet and greet, I felt comfortable and felt everyone was friendly and easy to talk to.
I was glad for the change of venue afterwards as I enjoyed listening to the songs of the Elvis impersonator so it worked out well.
I'm looking forward to going to other POF meet ups and looking forward for the pictures to be posted.
Thanks everyone for a great time.

Anyone reading The Power of Now?

I read the book "The New Earth" and bought the "Power of Now" on C.D. form and will listen to it when I've finished listening to another talking book. I like to listen to positive stuff when driving. When I was reading "The New Earth" I also watched the author "Ekhart Tolle" being interviewed on the Oprah show. I found it really interesting and use a couple of his techniques to be in the present, especially when I'm upset at something.

Are you investing time in your financial education?

jimtash71,
What does HSM stand for so I can google it or will I find it by just googling HSM?
That's great that you made almost 30K in less than two weeks, but your right penny stocks can be risky.
One friend of mine lost with Nortel years ago and finally sold his stocks as it never recovered.
I'm still enjoying Derek Fosters' book "Stop Working..." and just bought some stock that earns dividends as that's what he buys. I read the Money Sense magazine which showed some stocks and how they did for the past year and picked one that was down but is starting to go up. Derek Fosters advice is to buy dividend paying stocks with stable companies when their prices go down but don't sell them.
There are some companies that are recession proof as we all have to buy groceries, do banking and have insurance etc. whether or not there is a recession.

Is an American 401K the same as a Canadian RRSP?
Posted:
7/5/2008 7:40:07 PM
I listen to financial C.D's from the library as I am on a quest to increase my financial I.Q. so I can invest more wisely. Most of the financial gurus come from the U.S.
I've listened to Suzie Orman and other American speakers and they talk about investing in a 401 k as well as other investments. I'm just wondering is investing in a 401 k the same as a Canadian putting money into an Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) or a Canadian putting money into their work pension fund in which the employer fully or partially matches the employee's contributions?
Other than being for retirement, I'm not really sure what kind of investment a 401 K is and what the Canadian equivalent would be. Thanks for any info.

Are you investing time in your financial education?

I'm going to check out the websites listed by Slysterling as they look interesting.
I have a couple of comments from Himmicane's post. I notice you have some interesting points about Derek Foster.
Since I've just started reading Derek Foster's first book, he talks about receiving enough residual income so you can retire from your job. If I could retire from my present job and take a job I really like, but at less pay, I would find that enjoyable. It would be nice to be a millionaire, but I don't need to be rich, just enough to retire from my present job, or go part time so I can do the things I'm passionate about.
Due to undesirable changes in my workplace, and the aweful shift work, I would like enough residual income to retire early and then do what I'm passionate about.
I have a couple of questions for you regarding your comments.
#1 For mutual funds, whats a low MER index fund?
#2 How do you find stocks that give you dividends? I haven't gotten that far in Derek's book.
#2 What's the name of your financial blog so that I can look it up. If your not allowed to post it on this thread then please message me with the info.
If you could answer these questions, I would be appreciative. Thanks.
If anyone else has any financial investment books or strategies that have helped you, I would like to hear about them. Thanks.

Are you investing time in your financial education?
Posted:

I've been reading the book "Stop Working - Here's How You Can" by Canada's youngest retiree Derek Foster. I'm still reading that book but also bought his second book "The Lazy Invester - Start with $50... and no Investment Knowledge" This man was rich and retired at the age of 34. He read a lot of financial books written by rich people such as billionaire Warren Buffet and Warren's mentor Benjamin Graham who wrote the book "The Intelligent Investor" and used the knowledge he gained to invest wisely and become rich.
Right now I'm listening to the talking Book I borrowed from the library by Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump, called "Why We Want You to Be Rich" This book talks about the the middle class being wiped out and there just being rich and poor and what the rich invest in to become rich.
Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump speak about our current education system (same in both Canada and the U.S and other countries) that train us in a profession (ie Doctor, teacher, nurse, etc. ) and then work in that profession until retirement. Schools do not teach financial knowledge and if you want to succeed you have to obtain that knowledge yourself through seminars or through books.
Donald and Robert both emphasize the importance of spending time increasing your financial knowledge. Even though I work shift work and have a heavy schedule, on my days off I'm using my off time more productively. I try to spend 15 or more minutes a day reading a book that will increase my financial knowledge and listening to C.D's while driving help me to learn more.
I've also listened to other talking financial books on C.D.'s that I've borrowed from the library and bought books, DVD's and C.'D's, on real estate investing and options trading etc.
I am on a quest to increase my financial I.Q. so that I can learn to invest in the right products to increase my returns and acquire wealth. The returns I've average over the 10 years I've invested in different GIC's and mutual funds have been pathetic. I want more control in my investing and gain the knowledge to do it myself or form partnerships if I do real estate investing.
Is anyone else on this same quest? If so, what are you reading, or what investment seminars have you attended and has it changed your investment strategies? If so, have you noticed better financial results?

Your thoughts on owners who leave pets in cars during heat waves!

The cops should be called if you see it happening as it's animal abuse and charges should be layed, and the pet will need to be rescued.
If the person shows remorse over the mistake I think they should be given a second chance but if they are cruel and don't give a sh*t over what they did then they should be banned from owning any pets. If they don't give a sh*t, I'd hate to think how they treat their human companions.

Living Without Debt/ Dave Ramsey
Posted:
6/8/2008 8:15:34 PM
Hey Calray,
Thanks for the idea about the book "Why we want to you to be Rich." by Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump. I was in the library the other day and borrowed the C.D. I haven't started listening to it yet as I'm listening to another financial C.D. by someone else but will listen to it next. I do hope it transforms my life. I played Robert Kiyosaki's "Cash Flow Game" at a club in North York yesterday evening. It teaches you about financial things and you are learning with others about investments etc.
I think everyone who wants to learn about debt and proper investing should listen to "Suzie Orman", "Robert Kiyosaki", and others. I've seen many C.D's and books about how to get your finances under control and how to invest wisely. I listened to one C.D. by a Canadian Entrepreneur in how he got out of a large amount of debt in one year.
Good topic Ezzee, as living without debt and other financial issues are important but also one that most people don't want to face.
I'm learning these things as my goal is to retire comfortably and as early as I can.

Canadians viewpoint of US vs Canadian healthcare system
Posted:
6/4/2008 8:57:42 PM
I watched the movie "Sicko" by Michael Moore and was sad to see how many Americans are not covered by insurance and those that are, the HMO's decide what will or won't be covered. Also, in the U.S., anyone with pre-existing conditions will not be covered or will be covered at a cost most of them cannot afford.
In the film, there were post 9-11 firefighters who had respiratory problems 5 years after and the government were not covering most of their medical costs. I felt sorry for these people who had risked their lives during 9-11 and yet their own government ignored them in their time of need while attending to every medical need of the 9-11 terrorists at Guatomamo Bay, Cuba.
I recommend every American see the film and every Canadian see it to be grateful for what we do have.
I've had a couple of health issues in my life, which were treated, and because I'm Canadian, I don't have to worry about being denied for health care because of pre-existing conditions.
When I was younger, my mother had routine gall bladder surgery, and the doctors found it and her liver full of cancer. They could not operate on her liver and she died within two years. Thankfully, this was all covered by Canada's universal health insurance as my dad was self employed and didn't pay into medical coverage. My brother got Hodgkins lymphoma when he was in his twenties and had to have two surgeries. He was on welfare during this time and had to have home care to change his dressings and give him strong anti-nausea drugs when having chemotherapy. I'm thankful this was all covered by the government. He just turned 39 and has been healthy.
Canada's health care system is not perfect, and many people are having trouble finding family doctors, and E.R. and surgery times can be too long, but at least no-one will lose their house because of medical bills.
A co-worker recently broke her pelvis in two places when falling off a horse. When going to the hospital, she showed her Ontario Health Insurance Card, not her credit card. The only financial hardship she will have to face is that our sick benefits from work is only 75%, so she will lose 25% of her pay while recuperating.
If you haven't done so, please see Michael Moore's film "Sicko" and see what you think. There is another fictional older movie about a similar issue called "John Q" played by Denzel Washington, in which his son has heart problems and needs a transplant but the doctor won't operate because his HMO coverage isn't enough to cover the cost. John Q, takes matters into his own hands. It was fictional but portrayed what it's like in the American system.

Dating a Separated Guy

I've known of people who are separated but still live in the same house (but different bedrooms) for financial or other complicated reasons. This girl I knew dated a guy who was in this situation and she knew about it. This would make dating a person complicated as you couldn't really go to his house unless the separated (but still living at home Ex) didn't give a sh*t. Has any one else heard of this situation?

Living Without Debt/ Dave Ramsey
Posted:
6/4/2008 4:38:52 PM
I've never heard of Dave Ramsey, but I agree with living debt free for the most part. Depending on your circumstances, living debt free isn't always practical. Unless your rich and have lots of cash, you cannot buy a house or car without getting into debt.
Another good speaker to listen to about fincances and getting out of debt is Suze Orman, I've borrowed her C.D's from the library and have learned alot.
Most Entrepreneurs who start businesses are not rich and have to use "OPM" (Other Peoples Money) which is loans from banks or private investors to get their business started.
I have listened to C.D's from successful entrepreneurs such as David Kiosakis "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" series and other successful people such as Donald Trump who had to take loans out to create their businesses.
Listening to these C.D.'s, I have learned their is a difference between good debt and bad debt.
Good debt is when you use debt to buy investment properties or a business and you can write off business deductions and eventually make a profit. Bad debt is using credit to buy consumer items such as T.V.s, stereo systems or other things you want but really don't need.
I would really like a nice big 52" LCD flat screen T.V. but I am making due with my 27 " regular T.V. as I am concentrating on saving money and putting some extra payments on my mortgage. I also have a 10 year old car that still drives well and will drive it until it dies or costs me too much to fix, and then I will buy a new car if I'm offered 0% financing or buy another used car. Mine was 3 years old when I bought it and it only had 41,000 km on it.
I use credit cards to obtain air miles, but then pay it off in full from my savings. I also take the occasional vacation as I like to travel. I used to pay travel by credit when I didn't have the money to pay in full, but now I'm saving the money and will also use the air miles I'm accumulating. I'm not going anywhere fancy this year. When I win the lottery that will be a different story.
Good topic.

Oshawa G.M. Truck plant closing and Federal Government doing nothing!
Posted:
6/3/2008 11:21:33 AM
I was watching the news and shocked that G.M. is violating the collective agreement by making the decision to close the Oshawa Truck Plant and diverting those jobs to Mexico. The news said this will affect 2,600 jobs and also feeder plants. Durham region will have a high unemployment rate and this is unacceptable.
Our government and Federal Finance Minister, Jim Flaherty, is doing nothing to help Ontario. In fact a couple of months ago he said that manufacturers should not invest in Ontario. Now G.M. is relocating the truck plant to Mexico!!!
Our federal government will allow imports of cars from Asia and yet doesn't have an agreement with these same countries to import our cars. That's absurd and puts us at a disadvantage.
It is unacceptable that #1. G.M. is violating a signed collective agreement in which workers wages were frozen and #2. A Progressive Conservative federal government that loaths Ontario (because it's under Liberal leadership) and doesn't advocate for fair trading rules with other countries. Their policies are not progressive, they are regressive in regards to the auto industry.

But,..are you happy?

I just put in a post for the thread "What changed you from a Pessimist to an Optimist"
I won't go into the details here as I did a long post on that thread as being optimistic and happy are similar. I did recommend the book "Happy for No Reason - 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside out" by Marci Shimoff as this book showed me that our happiness set point is 50% genetic and 50% learned. This book was a real eye opener for me and helped me realize that happiness is mainly an attitude from the inside and not based primarily on circumstances. I recommend this book as it's helped me be happier in spite of the fact I wish there were different circumstances in a couple of areas of my life.

What changed you from Pessimist to Optimist ?

I've been reading or when in the car, listening to C.D talking books about uplifting topics. One talking book I borrowed from the Library is called "Happy for No Reason - 7 Steps to Being Happy from the Inside Out" by Marci Shimoff. She says that based on science, our happiness set point is 50% genetic and the other 50% learned. She interviewed 100 happy people and found out their secret. In her book she also said that since we have happiness set points, a person who wins the lottery and a person who becomes paralyzed will obviously have changed happiness levels after these occurrences but after a year both will return to their previous happiness set point.
In her book she talks about happiness myths:
#1: The myth of more - the more you have the better you will feel - (she's not talking about people who are in poverty and their basic needs are not met.) She's talking about people who have enough but always want more. There are financially rich people who are very unhappy, and poor or middle class people who are very happy.
#2: I'll be happy when - ie - When I find the perfect mate
When I find a better job
When I lose X amount of pounds, and the list can go on.
When I listened to this C.D. I realized that I've said some of the same words to myself. Part of this is programing from our parents but also from society. If you watch T.V. for a couple of hours you are told via commercials, that you are no good unless you buy their products to solve this and that problem or you are nobody unless you have that new car that can go zero to 100 in 6 seconds, etc.
I've also read "The New Earth" by Ekhart Tolle who says to live in the present and accept what is happening, as worrying about the past or present causes unhappiness.
I've also listened to Anthony Robbins C.D.'s and saw him at the Learning Annex last year. That was a mood altering experience.
I've also learned to have an "attitude of gratitude" thanking God for the things I'm grateful for. Even if I've had a bad day and I'm in a crappy mood, I still thank God or my Higher Power for the things I'm grateful for as this helps change my perspective.
I have a great sense of humour in which has helped me out in bad times as I've never lost the ability to laugh.
I know my post is long-winded but I highly recommend reading the book "Happy for No Reason" as this has really changed my perspective as well as other books I've mentioned.
In most of the books I have read or listened to, being grateful is important and focusing on what you want, not what you don't want are important.
I'm grateful for these forums on POF as I've learned alot from them and feel I'm getting to know people through them and I've finally signed up for a POF get together in July which I'm looking forward to.

Stephen Harper promised an open government and yet hides from the media.

I read the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail and there have been articles in both papers about Stephen Harper not allowing any government reports being released unless it's through a certain office controlled by him.
I like to know what happened to the supposedly open government he promised when running for election. He blamed the Liberals for cover ups and yet his own government is in the line of fire for trying to hide their own blunders. This shows that he and the P.C. government do not have the integrity they claim to have, otherwise, why run from the press?
I don't trust a government that runs from the press, especially when some of the top people like Jim Flaherty and others were from the previous provincial P.C. government under Mike Harris, that almost devastated Ontario by firing nurses, closing hospitals, firing teachers, selling off the 407, deregulating Hydro and leaving the province in a 5.7 billion dollar deficit.
It may be a minority government, but Canadians voted them in and have a right to know what's going on. If they were a majority government, I think the whole country would see major slashes to the social network such as OHIP that we all value.
Do others think his avoidance of the media shows his governments' not open or trying to hide another agenda?

I love animals and have two indoor cats, an outdoor fish pond with large goldfish, and wild birds that visit my two birdfeeders and a birdbath.
I love dogs as well but with working long shifts, I don't have the lifestyle for one right now. Someday I would like to have a dog as I grew up with a Collie dog.
Pets are awesome.

the new smarts category on your profile

I have not looked at my profile closely in awhile and didn't notice the Smarts section. What bothers me about it, is that it reads "some college" and doesn't give you the option of selecting "College Diploma" I do have a college Diploma; however, I had to select "some college" which sounds like I never finished college. I would not be employed in Health care if I didn't finish my College Diploma.
Another fact is, I've known people who have never finished high school and were successful.
My father never finished high school and yet started his own business and was more successful than his male siblings until circumstances caused him to lose everything and he was poor when he died.
My aunt was a well-known Canadian children's author who never finished high school and when she was a child met a famous author who told her she would never make it as an author unless she was educated. Well my aunt proved her wrong and wrote a total of 12 books before her death in 2002 and had won different awards including the "Order of Canada." Just in the past year - there were two made for T.V. movies based on her books, it's too bad she wasn't alive to see them.

I saw it on Saturday and loved it. Never read the comics as a kid but really liked the movie and the special effects were great.

I agree with others have had to say on this topic. It's a good way to get to know others by seeing what they have posted. Sometimes I've looked at a person's profile because what they posted was really interesting.

I'm actually off that week-end. I've never been to a POF event before and this looks like fun. I've enjoyed other cruises in different places and had fun. I will probably book my ticket next week.

Stock Investors
Posted:

I am learning more about the stock market. I have ordered a DVD course on Options trading through Shaeffers Investment site. I also signed up with a subscription with them to give me info twice a month on what stocks are good to buy and when to put a sell order. I also bought other DVD's and books on investing as I want to learn. I haven't watched the DVD's yet due to time contraints but I will as I want to learn. When I do my income tax this year, I would like to put part of any refund I get into investments, and put the rest towards other things.
I found out about this e-trade broker (which I still have to sign up for) that lets you do virtual trades for awhile until you know what your doing and then you can do real trades. Since I'm still learning about it, I'd rather play it safe, before doing a lot of real trades as I know it's risky.
I also believe that investing in nursing homes, or anything that caters to the baby boomers is good as many of them are retiring now. A friend of mine said he bought stocks in a company that owns retirement homes. He watches the network on T.V. where experts tell you what stocks are good to buy and has bought 3 or 4 stocks as a result of this.
One of the C.D's I have is called "Rule #1" by Phil Town. He became rich by investing in the stock market and has a down to earth approach to buying stocks. I liked the C.D.s so much that I also bought the hard cover book as a reference guide. This topic makes me want to listen to his C.D's again.

Woman shocked that man stopped talking to her after he sees her pic
Posted:

I like to see pics of people too. I like to know what a person looks like so that when they message me, so I can put a face to the words. I have posted my picture, that way if I'm not someone's cup of tea, they won't try to contact me.
There are men who do like overweight women, and if this lady had a picture of herself up in the first place, the man she was chatting with would never had started chatting with her but someone who likes large women would. Everyone has different tastes.
I don't like very obese men either. Depending on the man, a few pounds over is okay, but very obese is a turnoff for me. I also like some meat on a man, and men that are too skinny don't attract me either.

Would anyone be interested in going to woodbine racetrack this summer?

I prefer Thoroughbreds rather than harness racing. I don't know when Thoroughbred racing starts at Woodbine. I hope they still have $2.00 bets as then my money will last longer as I'm in it more for the fun, as I'm not a serious gambler, other than a weekly Super 7 or so.
