Does 70 stone man deserve NHS treatment?
Posted:
10/21/2009 8:22:05 AM
Let him lose 5 stones, would be easy with minimal will power for a man of his size, and then he can have the treatment.
What if he dies before he loses 5 stone, brilliant that eh, like I said before the NHS has a responsibility to provide the best care for all its patients.
Who has the right to decide how much weight a person loses before being accepted for treatment whithin the NHS.?.
IMO no one.

The way I see it everyone should have treatment no matter what their illness is and regardless of cost, aint that what the NHS is about, having a responsibility to provide the best care for all its patients.
Lets just say that he was refused treatment for being 70 stone what happens next, lets refuse treatment to someone over 60 stone, where is the line drawn, lets not treat smokers, alcoholics, drug users and so on.
Free NHS treatment for all regardless of illness or cost..

Leona Lewis 'punched' at signing !!

I just read on line that...
"Peter Kowalczyk, 29, who has been charged for attacking singer Leona Lewis during a book signing has been identified as an X factor reject.
According to the Sun, he was reportedly jealous of the fact that Lewis won the ITV1 talent show while he was turned down. "
Mind you it is according to the Sun, so is it to believed.

But in my opinion water should be free anyway
If water was free, who should pay for the the supply system, ah I know lets put it on the council tax bills and all those who receive council tax benifits get it free and all those who are not in receipt of council tax benifits pay for more than they use so that those who can't or won't pay their bills don't suffer...
Coming from a party political broadcast to you soon.

Thats because its easier to make up conspiracy theories and build political soap boxes when it comes to terrorism
That's why I still wear the Tin hat, covered in foil to stop the conspiracy theorist nut jobs getting to me..
To be honest I aint got a problem with walking through the xray machine, only downside is maybe being a frequent flyer, will I have problems being exposed to radiation...

As much as humanly possible on a first meeting, just get all the unpleasantries out of the way ASAP and then decide whether to meet again or not..

No seriously, water meters for all. We would not accept blanket bills for the other utilities, so why water?
No, not for me, well for the time being anyway, I moved from a 2 bedroom house last year to a 4 bedroomed house and pay £120 per year less for water, madness I know but true, just love the old rateable values at the moment, house worth more, rates less, water only £234 per year now haha....
As for cutting the water off, yes I would but I'd make provisions for stand pipes to be made available, minimum 50 metres away so they had access to water but would want to pay their bills...especially in winter.....

Unfortunately it doesn't matter what you say or how horrific the evidence is a smoker will defend the right to smoke and will not give up until they are ready to do so.
Ten out of ten, YES I will defend the right to smoke in places where the law allows legally and I don't give a flying duck about anyone who is in the anti smoking brigade.

Facebook is what you make of it, love it or loathe it, I use it mainly for playing poker and having a laugh with a few freinds on the chat board, saves phoning up to keep in touch...
Must say I like the FaceBook T shirt I saw in the White Rose shopping Centre in Leeds.

I wanted an old phone unlocked for my son, one that I dont use any more, but we are on different networks and he wants to keep to his. My network will unlock it for £15 and Im contemplating doing that now as I havent had much success online.
If it's not an expensive phone and out of guarantee take it to a shop that unlocks them , I'm pretty sure it will work out to be cheaper than £15, and they will probably charge you VAT on top of that.
One other thing to bear in mind when having a phone unlocked from an unauthorised source is that it can affect the phones software or settings can be altered which can ruin reception strength and battery life of a phone.

Just one thing about unlocking phones, whilst it's legal to have your phone unlocked,if you have it unlocked from an unauthorised dealer it may affect the guarantee of your phone and if it's an expensive phone this could end up being costly if something was to go wrong with the phone whilst under guarantee.
Just a thought maybe to some who are contemplating having their phones unlocked.
I sometimes buy on pay as you go from the Carphone Warehouse as most of the phones they sell are Unlocked and will take any Sim Card.
If in doubt ask a member of staff if the phones unlocked to any network and I'm sure that they will tell you.
Having an unlocked phone without a contract gives freedom to shop around for the best deals on offer, also it's handy when abroad and using a sim card from the country your in to phone home and keep in touch, works out far cheaper for me than using a UK sim card.

100% compatable?
Posted:

I dont think that anyone will ever find anyone that is 100% compatable, as for being fully formed by your 30's/40's,I'd say it's more that your set in your ways and have learnt what your likes and dislikes are, but for anyone having a realationship with someone later on in life, then IMO it's all about give and take, if your not prepared to do that then IMO a new relationship will have a very limited life or it will be a very argumentative one.

Bin strike in leeds
Posted:
9/17/2009 9:02:10 AM
I have put my bin out for the last 2 Wednesdays and it remains full, not of all my rubbish but some cheeky neighbour/s have put their rubbish in my bin, so it seems the strike is still on.
I'm actually in favour of the strike as from what I have read and seen on the news the Council leaders have caused the problems themselves and I for one would not like my wage to be cut by up to a third.
Lets see the council leaders being forced to take a wage cut of up to a third and see how they react.

Have you ever dated anyone you found physically unattractive only to fall in love with them later?
Posted:

I once saw a profile pic of a woman that wasn't too clear, and I passed her by (her profile wasn't too informative either), but when I bumped into her at a party.........the sky came crashing down - she is gorgeous!
And yes, my feelings for her grew from that day until this......
Reminds me of an old saying..
"When you least expect it, something great will come along. Something better than you ever planned for."
Oh and I liked Forest Gumps of course, "life's like a box of chocolates".
Have you ever dated anyone you found physically unattractive only to fall in love with them later?
Up to date no, but you never know what's around the corner, I think your tastes and attitude change as you get older.

Michael Jackson Has Died?
Posted:
6/26/2009 7:20:37 AM
Same old shi* different day, wondered why I aint been on these forums for so long, I think this thread is going to go die as well as Michael Jackon , DIE from being beaten with the mods hammer for libel and go to thread heaven or hell.
Some people on this thread have mentioned Gary Glitter, thing is Glitter is a convicted paedo, Jackson has had allegations made about him over the years but has never to my knowledge ever been convicted of paedophilia, so to all those who have accused him of such on a public forum watch out for the libel police, you never know, they just might hunt you down..
As for Jacksons music, must say I have never bought an album or record and doubt I ever will, as for him dying, never knew the man apart from what I read in the news or watched on tv and cant say I ever liked him or his music, but RIP MJ anyway as I believe in innocent until proven guilty.

Misuse of reporting Violations
Posted:
4/6/2008 2:32:10 PM
Does anyone else find it a misuse when they see a PoFer reporting someone for an infringement - such as flaming and bashing - yet insisting on quoting the whole of the offensive post(s)?
I'd say that some people quote the offensive part of the post because some people have a habit of editing the post within 15 minutes and removing the flame/bashing/trolling etc when they see that they have been reported.
I'm not sure if Mods have the facility to read the full post before it was edited and be able to see the offending remarks..?.
As for limiting to 150 characters, some people choose to report numerous posts in one report so I think personally that limiting characters is not a good idea.

Well I think most men would one rather have one in the hand (A Bird) Than have one in the bush (The Thorny type, and not the hairy type).
But it's up to you if someone has asked you for a date, day one, whether to accept or not, but myself personally I'd like to get to know more about the person via email first and wouldn't accept a date the first day I met them on here via emails..
IMO only fools rush in on internet dating sites..That's why I've not asked you yet, maybe when your 40 Years old..:>O

If you can have a bit of fun on the forums and make new friends then great..
I just wonder though sometimes?, how many old men or women are sat there in nursing homes using the PC, who have created a profile with younger pictures and are sat typing away, winding people up on the internet..

One of the other forums I frequent has a numebr of cases of people crossign a red light, being flashed and then being done for it as the courts refused to take this as a mitigating circumsatance...
What people say on this forum or other forums what people say or write don't make it true, if people were being taken to court and prosecuted and being found guilty for moving out of the way for the Emergency services, I'm pretty sure we would be hearing it on the news or reading it in the news papers and hearing about a big public outcry, courts will take it into account and listen to mitigating circumstances.
I've just seen a flock of pink pigs flying past my window with sirens blaring, but no one believes me.

RAMIPRIL- Anyone had any side effects?
Posted:
4/3/2008 4:12:42 PM
if i had a BNF with me i could tell you exactly wat the effects are.for that particular drug
What do you need that for , google is your friend.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Ramipril generally is well tolerated, and side effects are usually mild and transient. A dry, persistent cough has been reported with the use of ramipril and other ACE inhibitors. Coughing resolves after discontinuing the drug. Other side effects include abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, rash, dizziness, fatigue, headache, loss of taste, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fainting and numbness or tingling in the hands or feet.
Ramipril and other ACE inhibitors also may cause kidney failure and increased levels of potassium in the blood. The most serious but, fortunately,
very rare side effects are liver failure
and angioedema (swelling of lips and throat that can obstruct breathing).
Steady with the Stella fella (OP) liver failure.

If your profile says you're seeking Dating, you can't restrict others looking for the same from contacting you.
Try checking the dating box in mail settings, it allows to you to check it, but when you update mail settings it don't work.
I am seeking dating, but the person I tried to contact was not and people who are looking for dating cannot make first contact, so therefore I was restricted from contacting which was the reason I tried to change my mail settings.
If your profile said you were seeking Longterm, you wouldn't be able to restrict other Longterm seekers. Wouldn't make much sense, would it?
I would be able to restrict, to name 2, gender and age.

Just wondering if there is a problem with the dating option (check box) in mail settings restricting who can contact?.
I have just looked at a profile to send an email to give the link/url for the Text Formatting (Quoting, Bolding etc.) - Practice Thread but when I tried to email I was restricted from contacting because the member has disallowed anyone from contacting who is seeking dating along with other contact restrictions.
When I checked the
dating
box in mail settings in my profile and then updated mail settings it seems not to work, but works fine with the other options I checked, anyone else having this problem.
Thanks.

Disabled sprinter thought to have advantage over abled bodied runners
Posted:
4/1/2008 3:28:04 PM
I watched the programme Ruffy and whilst I thought the guy was amazing and a credit to all with disabilities, the scientific evidence was proved that his blades (carbon Fibre made ,I think they were) allowed him to use less energy than fully able bodied runners.
The line IMO was drawn in the correct place and the right decision was made after tests proved that without the blades he would be unable to compete at the highest level, the programme featured a race in London I think and because it was raining he was not going to race, in the end he did but came last.

Nah I don't think I could date a woman who made porno films for a living either, you'd never know if you were going to pick up an STD from her, also I wouldn't want to be with a a woman who was prepared to get gang banged for money etc, and as far as I'm concerned, anyone who f***s for money is the same as a prostitute in my eyes.
Tan made a good point as well, uggghhhh just the thought of kissing her salty face or lips after filming with other men makes me wanna gip.
I don't think I'd think as bad if a woman only stripped for a living or posed for nude photo's.

I couldnt afford that so i did the patches and that worked for me.
Yeah there brilliant are them patches, I put 2 over my eyes, I couldn't find my fags..
The best way to stop smoking IMO is willpower, spend as much as you can afford, or get for free on the NHS, but without the willpower, then you've wasted your money.

What twaddle is this???
Not twaddle at all, I happen to have a little red book, Certificate of service, Form B 108 (Revised 12/84).
I think you're right Malcolmeggs - my dad was in the servces for 22 yrs and my brother has been in the RAF fo the past 7 years and neither of them have ever been off duty and out and about in uniform.
Just because your father and brother never wore uniform whilst off duty does not mean during their full term of service that uniform was banned.
Depending on the state of alert and where you are serving, it can be at the discretion of Commanding Officers.
Ask your dad or brother how many colleagues they have served with have got married whilst wearing uniform.
Military service personnel
are
allowed to wear uniform in civvy street and it is not banned.
