Well...I think some of your co-workers are certainly on the neverending quest to find the next target to justify their hatred.
For many if it's not blacks it's Mexicans ..or gays ...or Catholics or whatever.

Thank you, Obsidian, for bring the gay thing into the conversation. :)

Diamonds and Furs
Posted: 6/13/2007 3:07:39 AM
Ok, so first of all, I'd like to say that animals ARE skinned alive for their fur.

They're first painfully, anally electrocuted. Unfortunately, this shock isnt powerful enough to kill them, only to stun them. The animal is then skinned (alive) and tossed aside like a used paper bag.

Not ALL furriers do this, but it is fast becoming the industry standard.

OT: I do NOT think that, under any circumstances, fur should be worn. It looked better on the animal. :) Not only is it gaudy and unattractive, it's also promoting the use of fur for fashion no matter HOW old it is.

Fashion is never important enough to take the life of a living breathing being. (Which is kind of odd to hear myself say that fashion isnt more important than ANYTHING because fashion is, quite literally, my life.)

whats with the cross necklaces ?
Posted: 6/13/2007 2:58:00 AM
I'm pretty sure that it goes back to when Catholicism was the major power in the world.

So, if I remember correctly, the villagers (or w/e they were) would wear the rosaries around their necks as they worked in the fields.

There were also a lot of superstitions around those times, and the Catholic church played into it by telling people that to ward off vampires, they should wear a cross.

Etc, etc, etc.

Basically, it began with religion, and turned into a tradition.

Are You A Fashionista(o)?
Posted: 1/22/2007 3:39:11 AM

Last winter's 'hot colour' was puke green, and I sure as hell wasn't going to wear anything that colour!

First of all, it was NOT "puke green." It was emerald green and went with all the other hot colors of the season. Sapphire, amethyst, topaz, and opalescent. Gem colors are still in and will probably remain so for the next three to six months.

Secondly, fashion IS important. If I was the executive of a large organization, and someone came to me looking for a job dressed in clothes straight off of the rack at K-Mart, I'm going to be less likely to hire him/her because of the fact that I'm going to get the impression that that person doesnt care how they look. If they dont care how they look, why am I to think they'll care how my business looks?

See how fashion works in everyday life? It's an important part of the world around you. Fashion creates millions of jobs every year. As much as I hate Wal-Mart clothing, someone had to design them, and someone had to work the machines that made them. The fashion magazines, designers, fashion consultants, ect... They all create jobs.

Question about Christmas Time and What to Get
Posted: 11/27/2006 1:46:19 AM
A card. I know it sounds really cheap, but if you make it yourself, and put time and effort into it, you can make it look great, and you've not went out of your way to get them something expensive when you're really not that well acquainted with them.

Something I do when giving someone a card is put the card in an envelope, put the card down in a gift bag along with some potpurri and some homemade candy and cookies (wrapped in cellophane, of course). Then, tie the bag shut with a cute little ornament and coordinating colored pipe cleaners. Wrap the pipe cleaners around a pen to curl them, then stretch them out slightly to make them more attractive.

Moving from Alaska to Kennesaw, Georgia
Posted: 6/19/2006 6:16:37 PM
Oh, lord! Why would ANYONE move from Alaska to Georgia? LoL

Well, a little word of advice. Stay in the metro areas. There's nothing to do in the smaller towns, and there's a lot of druggies in those areas.

Keep in mind that we ARE next to Florida, so the winters here are very mild (depending on what part of the state you live in.)

Which One Do You Resemble.....
Posted: 3/11/2006 1:39:28 AM
LoL Well, if it makes you feel better, I liked the idea. *mwah*

I'd probably be most like the miniatures. I had a miniature Shih Tzu. Savannah Marie Valentino. She was my baby, but the idiots that live next door decided that they just couldnt live with the fact that people in the neighbor hood were getting sleep at night, so they bought a Jack Russell terrier. No offense to all you Jack Russell terrier fans out there, but seriously...Someone should have shot Jack Russell...put that dumb bimbo out his misery. Lord...But, I digress. 'Nywayz, to make a long story short, the dog attacked Savannah and ripped her all to shreds. The hospital couldnt do anything, so they sent her home to die. She died a week later. I cried for a week and a half. Now, I've spent my time plotting about how I'm going to make that dog die a painful and torturous death. LoL

Nah, I'm such a wimp that the first time I got my hands on the dog and he growled at me, I'd drop him like a hot potato and run away. LoL Oh, well. But it's nice to dream about pleasant things like that, ya know? LoL

But, babe, I know exactly what you're talking about. Sometimes men CAN be rude. Men, in general, are some of the awfullest pigs out there. But, there's always that one...The one you spend your whole life trying to find. And when you do find him, it makes it all worth-while.

Even though I've not found him yet, I've not given up hope. And neither should you. Go out there and find someone else! You go, girl! LoL

Weird Dream...What does it mean?
Posted: 2/21/2006 3:12:17 AM
In my dream...

Both of my ears were pierced. (in real life, they're not) I was getting ready to go to a guy's house that I was interested in. My mother came in my room while I was getting ready and somehow she ripped out my right earring. My earlobe was split in half and was bleeding all over the place. LoL I'm, like, running around my room crying, telling my mother that she needs to do something because I couldnt go over to Danny's house like that.

I woke up with a feeling of foreboding and terror...

What does it mean?

i am not so much as indulging my son as supporting his decisions. He is a drug free, alcohol free teen.He is respectful. He isn't fond of his daddy's job or his uncles's,they would both bust his ass in a flash if drugs were ever an issue. He is trying to find himself in a world of plenty.Yes,he has a nice home, money (he works) and he does chores at home.He has had the same school friends for years and his teachers all like him and respect him.If he wants to dress weird(he thinks my jean jacket is ridiculous)i won't step on his freedom of choice. He knows we have standards and he knows as long as he is respectful to others and himself we are(as he would say)down with it.I guess i better prepare myself for whatever style my gorgeous son will throw at us.Yes,it's a fad. Can't wait till my daughter reaches her teens.

Banging my head against a wall and saying what next sweet lord just don't cut it.However,as long as he comes home every night safe in body and mind i'm willing to let him drive me out of mine.[\quote]

Elephants are the only animals that can't jump? So this means that a snail can jump? Or how about a starfish? Perhaps a garden snake?

Snails are not an animal. They are mollusks. Part of the phyllum Mollusca. A near relative of the phyllum Mollusca is the phyllum Cephalopoda in which scientist classify octopus, squid, nautilus, and cuttlefish.

how gullable are you???

Your GF score is 76.

Free Thinker
Welcome to the top 5%. You're a true free thinker and a person who is well informed about the reality in which you live. Although you may have been easily manipulated earlier in life, you eventually gained lucidity and developed a healthy sense of skepticism that you now automatically apply to your observations and experiences. You are endlessly curious about human behavior and the nature of the universe, and you have one or more lifestyle habits that most people would consider odd or unusual. You are not only of very high intelligence, you are also extremely creative in one or more areas (music, art, software development, inventing, etc.)
If you were in The Matrix, you would have taken the red pill, completed the combat training, and started fighting (and beating) agents from day one.

Your architects: You have cast off reality distortions taught to you by your parents, schooling, corporate advertising and government propaganda. You create your own beliefs based on what serves you best, without much regard for what the rest of the crowd is doing. You are guided by your own internal code of ethics (which may or may not agree with politically-correct ethical codes) rather than any pre-set system of ethics (such as from any one religion).

Been a while, but I need some legal advice.
Posted: 1/12/2006 1:20:12 PM
Well, I spoke to a lawyer, and legally, he can move out. As long as he stays in highschool or completes his GED, and has a legal adult over the age of twenty-one to sign for him as his legal guardian. In this case he would have to get his GED because of the fact that he's homeschooled, and I can get one of my friends to sign for him as his legal guardian.

Thanks for all the advice people. It was very enlightening.

you're only hearing his side of the story.

I'm hearing and seeing his side of the story. I've seen the bruises, I've held him while he cried himself to sleep (when he spent the night with me) over his parents and that situation, I've heard the arguements that he gets into with his parents while we're on the phone. He got into trouble not to long ago, because his mother went snooping through his room and found some notes that I'd written to him. He has absolutely no privacy, no respect, and no freedom. The only way that he was able to spend the night with me was we got his grandmother to vouch for him and say that he was going to an amusement park with one of her friend's family.

Running off with him is still wrong no matter what the excuse

How can getting him out of a situation that is unhealthy on both the physical and mental aspects be wrong?

Social services has been called, and they went out, and the family acted like they loved their child to friggen death, and that they would never do anything to hurt him. Social services is more trouble than they're worth.

He's being physically and mentally abused by his parents at this point. They think he's gay, but he hasnt told them. They're Baptist and use their religion to bash him. I picked him up the other day, and he had a bruise on his arm in the shape of fingers. I asked him where he got it and he told me that he got into a fight with his dad...and then tried to cover it up casually, like it was nothing. I hurt for him.

women look better without make-up
Posted: 10/29/2005 10:24:07 PM
Hun, it's not about all women looking better without make-up, it's about some women looking better without make-up. Not all women look good without makeup. Take Oprah Winfrey for example. And Pamela Anderson. Both very nice looking women with makeup. But when the mask comes of, it's all saggy and baggy and ugly. Not to diss Oprah or Pamela, I respect both of them for who they are, but they should never be seen out in public without makeup. LoL

Some women look better without it, but because of the society we live in today, they think they should never be seen without something to cover up all the "blemishes" on their face. Let her know that you think she's much prettier without make-up, and make sure that she knows that you're sincere, and, you never know, she may stop putting it on. Or maybe you could compromise. Her not put on so much make-up and you dont say anything about the make-up. IDK...Just a suggestion.

Does it mean anything?
Posted: 8/29/2005 7:19:54 PM
For two nights in a row, I dreamed that me and my current b/f were living together. After living together for a while, we adopted a little vietnamese girl name Mary Jane. Of course we didnt like that name, so we changed it to Malibu Elizabeth.

Now, mind you, both dreams were exactly the same.

In both dreams she was three years old when we adopted her, and progressed in years as the dream went on.

She, at the end of the dream, was about five seven, with shoulder length raven black hair, and fiery black eyes.

My question: Does the fact that I dreamed the exact same dream for two nights in a row mean anything? Or am I reading a little bit too much into this?

Why do some people so totally appose wearing namebrand clothes?

The excuse that my parents give is "Why would you want to go spend seventy dollars on a pair of jeans, when you could go to the Walmart and get five pairs for that much?"

I don't think it has anything to do with money.

Does it make some people feel inferior?

Good-looking people are treated better than less attractive people
Posted: 8/25/2005 2:00:46 PM
If you'll look around, you'll notice this all around you. It happens in many of the so-called "cliques" and in the social groups that are composed of the better looking, and the ones who are financially "rolling in dough." It happens even with people who are not good looking themselves, or are not part of one of the fore mentioned social groups. The mindset is that if you treat them good, they'll become your friend, and if they become your friend, they'll help you into these social groups. Humans have had this mindset since the prehistoric times. Even in the religious groups you find a form of this. With the so-called "big-time preachers", if you hang out with one of them, you're considered very spiritual and are envied as a "christian." People strive to be like you.

Do I agree with this? No. I strongly appose it. But, even though we all say, "I don't like that, I don't think people should do that.", if we look around, we will all find places where, we treated this person better because he/she was better looking, or had more money than someone else. I, myself, find myself doing this in my own life. I'm ashamed to admit it, but, I find myself treating someone unequally because of lack of good looks, or lack of financial funds.

Everyone does it. Whether they want to admit it or not, everyone does it. It's unavoidable. But, when I find myself doing it, I usually try to go back and apologize to, if someone else was involved, the other person and try to make it up to them. I think that's about that best you can do.

then again, it could be a girls name also...Courtney Taylor, Theresa Taylor, Brittany Taylor, Megan Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor (lol),...ect...you get the point...

when naming a baby, i dont think you should restrict yourself to what society considers normal! you should go with what you like, but go for something that the baby wont get made fun of about...like me...i plan on naming my little girl Malibu Elizabeth...see...it doesnt matter about society's idea of normal, just go for whatever you like...

yes i would vote for hillary, if only for her stance on homosexuality, but not only that, but for her stance on guns, and violence, and cuz she's hot for a lady of her age...lol

(if she'd just do something about those teeth...lol)

well, i havent seen many guys posting in here....lol

anywayz

OT:im not exactly what you'd call a neat freak, but yeah, it does get on my nerves when i've just cleaned the living room, and polished the coffee table and people leave their shoes and socks laying in the middle of the floor, and walk off with out taking them to their rooms like in the middle of the living room floor is where they belong! and when people take the phone off of the phone table, and leave it on the end table, where it does not belong, and when people leave mail laying on the coffee table, instead of putting it in the mail box in the hallway, where it belongs...yeah, that pisses me off....

just trying to be helpful, but maybe, cuterguy, you should look at your habits...is there something that you do consistently that bugs her? something that messes up the house, and since she's ''anul'' about it, maybe you should check into changing the things you do...maybe taking things to where they belong when you're through with it, instead of leaving it on the table, or in the floor...maybe throw things away when they're empty...

just a suggestion...maybe it's not her, maybe it's you...

oh, btw...about the relationship thing...yeah, that does sound a little anul...
