For those of you unable to upload pictures since last night

I figured I would post to say that everyone will be able to upload pictures if they try again now since the admin hasn't said anything about it.

PICS: Images not showing up issues here...[Read the 1st Post (the OP)]

FYI everyone, you don't need to post those numbers as this is a server-side problem with the image uploading. Just wait it out and I'm sure the admin will get around to fixing it.

A symbol, a poem, a philosophy, an existence...
Posted:
3/2/2009 12:58:40 AM
Hello, everyone! It's currently 4 AM and for work-related reasons, I can't go to bed until 7, so I'm sitting here bored and pondering life. As a way to waste time and also as a way to garner feedback, I would like to share with you all a symbol that I find extremely intriguing and philosophical. It's called the Celtic Tree of Life - http://photos-e.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-snc1/v2148/21/108/1159421372/n1159421372_30200116_2360.jpg - and to me it represents the uninterrupted cycle of life. Here is a short poem/description/interpretation I wrote for it:
That which lives and flourishes, must ultimately die.
Yet that which dies goes back to the Earth,
and feeds that which lives and flourishes again.
So it continues, for eternity.
So, I'd like any feedback on my poem as it'd be much appreciated! I don't intend to publish any of this and don't want the feedback for any other reason than self-judgement; I'm not a creative person so I'd like to know if something I've created can be appreciated by anyone but myself.
I'm also nearly certain I'm going to get the symbol as a tattoo, most likely on the outside of one of my upper arms, so I'd like feedback on that too. :)
Thanks for your time!

Scientific reasons for physical attraction/opinions of human beauty
Posted:
3/2/2009 12:42:58 AM
Hello, all! It's currently 3:30 AM where I live and I need to stay up until 7 to get my body in sync with my work schedule. However, I'm bored and sitting here pondering life, so I thought I would have some people join in my pondering!
Now there's always that person out there that almost anyone thinks is good-looking. I think asking "why?" is a good question. I have my own theories, mainly revolving around natural selection and the subconscious association of good looks with good genes, generating attraction due to the mind & body wanting to mate with someone of higher-quality genetic stock. However, the definition of beauty does definitely vary from culture-to-culture, ethnicity-to-ethnicity. For example, in many African tribes, women of larger proportions are viewed as more attractive than a woman who would be considered normal or underweight in our societies. But, I think my theory still applies to this as well because it could easily be conjectured that in societies where food is scarce and poverty is high, a woman who clearly has no shortage of food consumption would make a healthier mate.
Anyway, this is just sort of rambling on my part; I'd love to hear what everyone else's views on this are!

why not just say looking for sex
Posted:

From the looks of it, you were the one that made the mistake and had sex with them. People are going to lie to you a lot in your life, it's part of who we are as humans. It's up to you to weed out the liars. If you don't want to be used for sex, don't have sex with someone until you are certain that's not what they're there for.

Your thoughts please!

Not a horrible profile but not chock full of information either. Your pictures are good and clear. I would suggest you stay away from generalizations of yourself, i.e. "My interests are probably much the same as everyone else's". Be specific and more importantly, show that you are an individual. If you present yourself to be a generic person, more than likely you will get people messaging you that are looking for something generic (sex). Just my $0.02 but then again I'm no expert ;) Good luck!

if I weren't aware of or were trying to bend the rules, I wouldn't have even mentioned the fact that I have another thread here. I was simply requesting that I be allowed to make a new one and that my old one be deleted if one needs to be.

Profile Review Needed!

Hello ladies and gents! I finally took some new pictures of myself and I've reviewed & edited my profile quite a bit so I'd like as many reviews as possible! Thanks a lot in advance for your time!
To the moderators: I do have a previous PR thread however I would prefer that be deleted as opposed to this new one because I've taken into account all of the advice from the previous thread.

The person that wrote that comment may be suffering from some type of learning disability. If it is able to multiply power, then it can feed its own source while creating power for whatever is running from it.

Watch the episode in question and you'll see what I'm talking about. They're freely available on http://www.cbc.ca/ . However, I'm not sure if you live in Canada and if you don't, there might be restrictions set on you watching the episodes through CBC due to licensing issues.

Actually he's simply negotiating contracts with governmental organizations to license his patented technology. The contracts are generally in the tens of millions.

A man from Canada that appeared on our version of the TV show "Dragon's Den" created a device that does what you're describing. I don't know his name or remember the number of the episode but he was able to multiply wattage and amperage by over 1000 or 2000 times; something ridiculously awesome like that.

Bahaha, fair enough! I didn't really think it could be taken any other way than the way I wanted, which is that animals are innocent no matter what and humans willfully do wrong every day, but I guess it could be taken sexually by some.. um... misguided people? I changed the wording.

Much appreciated! I had actually filled in that caption when I first signed up as more of a non-serious thing and forgot to remove it! Unfortunately I'm not a very creative writer so I don't know how to get all the points I've made across in a different style. However, I will keep your advice in mind and thank you for your time!

Harsh. I like that.
"Mentioning it in your profile makes it sound a bit C-O-C-K-Y. Also, beginning your sentence with 'um' doesn't come across as smart."
Fair enough. Removing that!
"Oi!! Come on, buddy. Who is??"
Several of my good friends not to mention 90% of men. Removing that as well though.
"Hopefully you're not looking for women your age because that's quite a bit to expect of a 19 year old woman."
I think I'll hold out on finding a girl that sees eye-to-eye with me on that one.
"Mahhhh goodnesss. You have NEVER EVER lied??? We weren't born yesterday, mister."
Of course everyone has lied in their lifetime. I don't do it *anymore*. I will remove ever, though. :)
"Thank you sir for the lecture on lying. Much appreciated."
Consider it removed. In retrospect my profile is a little long-winded! Let me go fix it up.
Appreciate the criticism however biting it was. :P

I've sent out messages and not gotten anything yet so perhaps there's something wrong with my profile. It's either that or I'm straight ugly which is acceptable too! Feedback?
