Profile truths....

Isn't all "advertising" deceptive to a certain degree? that's all a profile is, right? I tend to be a tad skeptical of much that I read, not just on here.

Strangest question you've been asked at work?
Posted: 12/8/2007 5:54:06 PM
While working in computer tech support, I always enjoyed calls asking where the "any" key was. There was one agent who used to tell people it was the fn key (stands for function but if you say it quickly.....)

,,Emotional containment''- What are you thinking...?
Posted: 12/6/2007 1:42:22 AM
on the RARE occasion that a man asks me what I'm thinking, I generally think up something totally off-the-wall just to see the expression on his face I tend to be much more specific like "Okay, where'd you go this time & why wasn't I invited?"

Do Real men like Cats?
Posted: 12/6/2007 1:28:03 AM
you kick a dog - it comes back for more. This is higher intelligence? I think not! I had a cat for several years that used to growl - but only when J.W.'s were at my door Weirdest thing I ever saw (or heard, more accurately). She played fetch longer than any dog I've ever met, too. Had another cat when we were kids, that never forgave my grandmother for throwing him out in the rain so whenever she was over, he'd sit at her feet 'til she looked at him then deliberately turn his back to her . This lasted over 10 years I've never heard of someone referring to a cat as a "doormat"

unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), my son has to wait 'til after Christmas for his gift cuz that's when I'll get my first paycheque from my new f/t job BUT at least he'll get something brand new, out of the box instead of second hand, so he's excited!!

Stats and Depression
Posted: 11/19/2007 9:54:25 PM
oversimplification, my friend, I'm afraid. Depression is a complex problem with a multitude of origins. For some, it's a chemical imbalance while others suffer from sleep disorders. My brother was diagnosed as a maniac depressive when, in fact, he suffers from sleep apnea - a condition which causes you to stop breathing for short periods of time when sleeping. You wake up gasping several times a night. According to his present Dr., he hasn't slept thru the night since he was 12 & he's now 45. now THAT is a good reason to be depressed if you ask me

Separate bedroom?
Posted: 11/9/2007 9:34:40 PM
I'm neither for nor against separate bedrooms - would depend on the people & reasons involved. I, myself, am a very restless sleeper & tend to sprawl which has been an issue in the past so I chose to sleep in a separate bedroom - it worked for us but everyone is different. I'm not a real cuddlebug when I need sleep.

First Date Expectations - what are they?
Posted: 11/4/2007 11:05:35 PM
are you talking the first "meet 'n' greet" or do you mean an actual date? Why would you be "expecting" anything? Are you psychic? I'm confused - to enter into a meeting of any kind with a set list of "expectations" seems a tad bogus to me, unless you're after a raise. Sounds just like a job interview

November 17, 2007 - Monthly Dinner at On Lok's - Part II
Posted: 11/4/2007 10:30:52 PM
Last year, when I attended, we sort of group ordered - but more like in 2's or 3's, rather than the whole table. That way you got to try some of several things as opposed to a single dish. No, this is not a buffet type place however there was more than plenty for everybody (if that helps make up anybody's mind). It was the first full function I attended - it was great. Give it a shot -what can you lose?

Doc - if you can't laugh at yourself & others, you're sunk. I have numerous people who send me extremely funny emails which I, in turn, forward on to others. My friends all know w/o humour on a daily basis, I would cease to exist. If you are ever in need of a "fix", PM me your email addy & I'll add to my evergrowing list of correspondents. Actually Meeting!
Posted: 11/2/2007 12:26:47 AM
Funny - I've heard the same complaints from guys, too Face it - there are a lot of wimps of both genders out there. Do you really want to involve yourself with someone who's wishy washy? Hell NO, I say. I've gone on several "meet 'n' greets" because I like to meet new people - no expectations. This first "date" business is BOGUS - wrong approach to my mind. Do you like Chinese food? Come to the dinner on the 17th - nice relaxed venue to meet both men & women. Who knows what doors will open for you? If nothing else, you get a great meal Just try to relax and don't take it so seriously. No method of "dating" is ideal. JMO

How high will it go?
Posted: 11/1/2007 12:14:58 AM
The only major drawback that has been seen so far is in the Export market to the States. It has already had a negative impact on things like lumber & may impact tourism in the near future however we cannot be held accountable for military decisions the States have made, now can we? That's whole different can of worms that I, for one, avoid like the plague.

Powerful woman.....
Posted: 11/1/2007 12:02:57 AM
I have been told, on numerous occasions, that I intimidate men. When I asked a few guys why they felt that way, I got a couple of different answers. The most common one was that I don't "fit" in the usual category ie I'm quite comfortable with my own company and don't seem to "need" anyone else, which of course is untrue - everybody needs others in their lives unless they are a hermit. The other reason I was told will break up anybody who really knows me - I have a highly developed "empathic aura" which comes across as "saintly" (okay, people, you can stop laughing any time ) I think I would translate that to mean "aloof". I have also been told I'm not "needy" enough I can't win

Monthly Dinner's again?

I received an email from Thump saying the restaurant is booked for the 17th but Admin has yet to post the thread? What's up with that? Anybody got any contacts & can find out what the hold-up is? She suggested maybe someone else needs to take over for her. What about it, FF? I know nothing about these things & live way out in Chilliwack to boot. Maybe the problem is she needs a co-host/ess? OP - haven't you ever noticed that the media concentrates on the negative rather than the positive? The lower mainland is no better or worse than anywhere else. Turn on the TV news anywhere & you will get the same crap. These problems have always been there, just reported more! ((remember a certain dude, Clifford Olsen???))

I DO agree with mb though. If you show fear, you're sunk. I grew up in Vancouver around a "grease gang" who carried switch blades & chains. Had one put one to my throat at 10 YEARS old!! That was a few years ago This kind of behavior has always been around.

I've been bashed BECAUSE I have taken responsiblity for my choices etc & told I'm a SUCKER for making excuses for losers. Everyone is responsible for their choices, you included so suck it up, mister. We all get taken at some point - learn from it & quit blaming the entire sex for your misguided POV.
