For the newbies like myself Anti*Hero, you need to translate MMA club ... what does the MMA stand for??
Thanks!
Also, EP why would you NOT recommend CMAC?? You were with them for 13 yrs so I'm really curious why you are saying I should avoid them. I tried to email you personally but your profile blocked me. Enlightenment would be appreciated.

Has anyone ever practiced kobudo? I came across this dojo on the web - CMAC Hasu Dojo at Yonge and St Clair East - and it had a write up on this martial art form and for some reason it caught my attention.
Any input would be great. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for the Kai-Shin Karate suggestion ... only problem is that it's in Mississauga which is a bit of pain to get to without a car. Sensei Guest (is his first name actually Monty?) is still there. I found them on the web at http://www.kai-shin.com/
As for the one of the other's posters suggestion of Googling Martial arts in Toronto - I've done that and there's A LOT. Hence posting here for suggestions on how to narrow down the search! lol
The hunt continues ...

Advice for winter workout

I would suggest perhaps check out Miyamoto Musashi (Japanese swordsman) and his book "The Book of the Five Rings". He was the founder of Niten Ryu style of swordsmanship and his book has all sorts of information on strategy and tactics that could be useful.
Hope this helps.

Finding a dojo in Toronto

Hi there everyone - I've been looking for another activity to add to my list. Most of the activities I currently participate in are more for the warmer weather - softball, cycling and such - I need something to help keep me in shape over the winter weather.
I've been thinking of joining a dojo but there are two problems I have - one, which martial art form and two, which dojo. I don't mind doing some sparring but honestly I don't want to end up covered in bruises on a regular basis. lol I did do a bit of Tae Kwon Do waaaay back when I was a teenager and I did enjoy that but I'm open to other suggestions.
I live in downtown Toronto so somewhere that is easy to access by TTC would be preferred. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and have a good day!

Hi there Erik!
Great profile - gotta love both that poster shot and the gratuitous butt shot! Shows you definitely have a sense of humour and that you have confidence because you can make fun of yourself.
I'm ready to go under the gauntlet myself ... by the way, great review of "afishcalledjack" - he is definitely keeper material. He's a great guy!
Fire when ready! ;-)

"Wow, I hope my time to dance is never in my past..."
Same here! I don't get out to dance very often anymore but when I do get out there on the dance floor, I almost never sit down!! I can still shake my groove thang and don't plan on forgetting how to any time soon! lol

Men, and being good cooks?

I'm definitely of the "And that's co-operation, boys and girls!" frame of mind. It's nice to be able to cook together with someone ... enjoy each other's company, chat, share and all that other good stuff. I'm also happy to cook or bake for someone I'm dating and it doesn't even have to be a special occasion!
Of course, I would never kick up a fuss if a guy said to me "How about I cook for you?" Whooo-hoooo! It's great when someone will make that kind of effort - makes me feel special. And I'm happy to help with clean up afterwards too.

What makes you feel the WARMEST?

Hmmm ... that's a tricky one - but I'll have to say spooning - whether it's the traditional curled up in bed style or the vertical version (the hug from behind). I both like being the one that's spooned as well as spooning my partner. I guess that makes me an equal opportunity spooner! lol

broken flirt radar.............

Well, personally, I'm one of those touchy-feely types. I hug and kiss all my friends and I'm not shy about PDA's. So a few times I have accidentally sent out the wrong messages to people that I like but not in *that way*. If I wanted a dj to play the song I wanted though, I'd bat my eyelashes more than manhandle him ... afterall, the man is trying to work! lol
Personally, I have a tendancy to laugh *a lot* around men I'm attracted to, it's a bit of a nervous thing. I do make a point of doing the touchy feely thing ... linger a bit longer than usual though when I'm trying to send out a message. And then there's those "passing touches" - you know, when you're going by the object of your affection (or lust - haha). Even if there's room to pass without touching them, I will put my hands on their waist to get by or place a hand on the shoulder if they're sitting as I go by. I can't tell ALL my secrets but that's a few of them.
As for when men flirt with me ... sometimes I'm a little clueless too. I think a lot of men don't want to come across as pushy so they're too subtle. I think that because I'm a friendly type I also wonder if they're just the same way and don't like me in *that way* or if they're actually interested. Of course, there's always what someone is wanting ... some folks are just out there for a romp in the hay versus trying to really get to know someone. How do you discern which is which?
The mystery of the opposite sex continues ...
