SOLAR COOKING

I would not like to have to depend on it every day with the cloud cover we get MI.
Smiling Salmon, yes we should connect via email. The other cool gadget I have is a smoker, but I haven't pulled it out all summer---it's been too cold.
That being said I love smoked turkey.

thanks for the invite back in to the fold to discuss a "hot" topic hee hee.
Funny about your pan, but you may be the next Billy Mayes if you keep inventing time saving tricks.
I haven't used my solar cooker this week or so, been on the road. Santa Fe, it was gorgeous. However, I did read a blog about some students who experimented with their cookers. They had a "Lessons Learned" about some of their disaster recipes.
The funniest one was the kid who tried to make rice krispie treats. Started out with mini marshmallows and the cereal and put it in the solar cooker. Came back 4 hours later and it still hadn't melted because the puffed rice acts like an insulator and prohibits enough heat in to melt the marshmallows. hee hee. He said, next time to melt the marshmallows first. It made me think straw bale housing material was probably a pretty good insulating material; maybe rice krispies are the greatest insulator for home improvement projects.......

I was looking for a recipe just like this to do for the camp. My kids are grown now so I've been out of touch on kid friendly menus, but I think this sounds perfect.
....and if they don't like it I'll mix up some margarittas for the grown ups haha

Recipe for NOLA Grillades (tomato stewed beef medallions). Serve with rice or cheesy grits....
1# cubed steak cut into silver dollar size medallions--you can pan sear like swiss steak recipes but I usually don't.
1 16 oz canned tomatoes or fresh (remove peel)
2 stalks celery, 2 carrots, 1 med. onion diced
1 cup brooth, 1 cup red wine or beer or tomato juice (2 cups total liquid, add more during cooking if necessary) You want to cover all the ingredients in the pan
Mrs. Dash, s +p, chile powder and cumin to taste about 1t each 1 bay leaf
tiny pinch of garam marsala or cinnamon/nutmeg about 1/2 t
Method
In a 2 qt dark enameled pan with lid (dark absorbs heat energy best) place all the ingedients inside and cover with liquid(s).
Place the pan inside a reynolds oven bag and set in your solar cooker. The bag adds another envelope of heat insulation. Set in high sun location for 4-8 hours depending on cloud cover, temperature, quantity of food, cooker, etc...it can go longer, it won't burn and like a crock pot the meat will tenderize in the braising liquids and vegys.
Michigan has a lot of cloud cover and it was about 70 (f) so mine took close to 8 hours, as a reference. Next time I'll try putting the food in the cooking bag and then in the covered pan to save clean up...although not as environmentally friendly,
To Serve
Spoon over rice or grits. I like extra hot sauce, too. If you want to be fancy, make a gremolata to garnish. below
Gremolata
zest of one lemon and juce
handful of fresh parsley, chopped
1-2 cloves garlic, minced fine
3 T olive oil
s +p
Drizzle small amount on top of each serving. (this is, also, good on pasta, shrimp, soup, oso bucco, anything....well, maybe not ice cream)
Leftovers are great.

I used to live in Mt P too. Are you talking about the downtown area coffee shop with a frenchy name? or by the college? Turns out, my son works for a MAJOR tea company, I may be able to swing a few samples for you if you want to exchange emails. I have been trying to talk him into sending some Reps in to do a tea tasting class, let me know if you're interested.
This weeks' favorite for me is blackberry sage--sorry--iced

I'm going to Santa Fe on an unexpected trip this week. I just found out I'd be traveling last Wed. Any advice on what not to miss. I've not had a lot of time to investigate the tourist scene. Thanks

I bought one through work for a demonstration project. It is for kids enrolled in an environmental field camp. I just received the cook book a couple days ago. I will submit a recipe if you'd like. I haven't used the cooker yet.

well, sorry. I learned a whole lot more from the other posters. Manners and decency are appreciated. I feel bad you have to use a forum like this not as an exchange of ideas and creative discussion, but rather as a format to rant. I hope you find someone who will love you; until then, thank you for your opinion. Now kindly go to the Sham-Wow site, I hear they're 3 for $9.99 if you order now!

will these parent materials be used to date the moon; for mineral exploration; find evidence of water (like the poster stated above) or, or, or???
NASA must have a huge budget, or did they get some stimulous cash to do this?
By the way, y'all are being very polite!

NASA to bomb the moon-why?

Why the sudden need to bomb the moon, especially in this economy? Richard Haughland thinks there are space stations on the moon. I wonder if there may be a connection. I believe he wrote a book called 'Dark Mission' he says there are all sorts of extra terrestrial beings using the moon for mining, etc...Sounds weird, maybe someone knows more.
BTW some of you folks on the forums get pretty fiesty, and down right mean, I'm just asking a question; I don't need rude people responding....Go Billy Mays' Sham Wow conspiracy thread.

Humans created by Aliens: Plausible theory?
Posted:

Why the secrecy? The technology, of course. Big oil/coal/n.g run the world. Fossil fuel (oil) and an electric power distribution system which is centralized are a 3-5 trillion dollar industry. Do you really think we are in Iraq for democracy?
UFO's travel vast distances without stopping at the Citgo on Mars to fill up and grab a donut.
As for religion, even the catholic church has issued a statement, recently, that if there is extra-terrestrial life it must be created by God.
www.theorionproject.com is a 501c3 organization dedicated to r&d of over unity energy solutions. Most inventors of such prototypes have been suspiciously disposed of, or mocked, or their careers destroyed.
Eugene Maslove Fusion work, Billy Meier's water car, even Tesla's work was ridiculed and his career almost destroyed. Lots more.
Suffice it to say. Energy technology is the cash cow of the so-called powers that be. I believe their days are numbered. I encourage everyone to write their representatives and request disclosure of shelved free-energy technology and to provide a small amout of research dollars to these types of energy developments before committing billions to ag. intensive bio-fuel, clunky and expensive wind and dangerous nuclear energy.
btw in my humble opinion, this technology once a few working prototypes are perfected (1 year max) they can be retro-fitted to existing cars and home heaters/a.c units very inexpensively. That's a very scary proposition if you're an oil company or power company. The best part, zero toxic emissions (including green house gas and mercury) and the waste product is WATER. Free energy would also cause a huge re-disribution of wealth with huge geo-political implications. Not to mention how pissed off people are going to be when they learn this technology has been hidden and we have been paying up to $5/gal for gas......whilst our bio-sphere is almost destroyed, asthema runs rampant, species go extinct, mercury poisoning of every body of water and the earth changes caused, at least in part by, CO2
Our Govt. has some explaining to do. I suspect it will play out like this....
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We're sorry we didn't tell you about the extra-terrestrials. Our bad, please don't be mad. Look we really hid the truth for your own protection.
We really are good guys, see all the cool technology we got from the ET's? Now we can provide it to the big three auto makers, existing energy companies and airlines?
We are going to need to charge a new tax on this free energy, however, because the country is bankrupt and we just spent your great grand children's inheritance on road maintence projects.
Change, change, change

Humans created by Aliens: Plausible theory?

Hey Bluesman,
I'm a first time forum looker...I was just wondering if you had checked out Dr. Greer's website lately to read about the campaign to write senators, congress people and the new President to ask for disclosure of the free energy technology? Billions will be spent on wind, solar and bio-mass for renewable sources, however, as a person who works with these renewable options, I agree with Dr. Greer that the only real, long term solution is the zero point technology.
If released, I believe the world will change for the better in a very short time.
btw...in keeping with the original thread, yes, I believe extra terrestrials played a part in our creation. That's why they were always referred to as "gods". However, we all have consciousness and science is just beginning to learn about how that affects reality.
Be well
