Looking good for your age
Posted:
10/4/2009 12:37:38 AM
Looking good for your age is something I can cope with, 'you haven't changed a bit' gets me every time!!
Does it mean that I looked like this at 20 ( which is an insult, who wants to know that at 20 they looked 55? ) or that I look now like a 20 yr old which is a whooping lie!( but proof that Oil of Ulay works) lol
This has been said on more than once and I reply with hoots of laughter, I am a middle-aged lady for goodness sake, I have earned every one of my wrinkles and laughter lines and I am sure that some of life's experiences (good and bad) have shown in my face.
So I think that I just prefer 'Mmm, you are looking good'
This post is written with a smile on my face!

Has flirting gone out of fashion?

Hell no!
Flirting will never, ever go out of fashion!
And if you youngsters like flirting, wait till you are a little older and get it to an art form, then the fellas are putty in your hands!
Me?
I could flirt for Wales!!!

gillyd,
Thanks for your concern, but I might never come back!! lol
The idea is to travel, and I would prefer to go on my own, no one else to consider as to where I want to go, and I could stay in a place for as long as I want.
As for somewhere to live when and if I come back to Wales, I have enough family and friends to stay for a couple of weeks until I find somewhere. If I rented my house out, I would not have the funds to go and I would be worried about the house being looked after so the best idea is to sell.
I have been to Goa and enjoyed the trip, but would never recommend a trip on an Indian train, 5 hours without a toilet visit almost creased me! The toilets were a once-in-a-lifetime, NEVER to be repeated experience!!

by the traveling bug!
Let me explain. I am a mature lady and have been on my own for a number of years, my children are grown and live their own lives (I see them every week) so I have decided to sell my house and travel! My problem is where should I go? I need some suggestions of really nice places, must be warm or hot, somewhere where I can stay for between 4 and 10 wks, (I plan to be traveling for maybe a couple of years) and more importantly, how do I get there! So if you have a fav place let me know why and I can have fun planning my route.

Family holidays for 2010 where to go to?
Posted:

Try Turkey, I take my grandmonkeys every year and we have a whale of a time, and try and book a 5 star hotel, that way you know the standard will be good, but unless you want 'Blackpool with the sun' I would avoid Mammaris because it is very commercialized.
Have a good holiday

dark thoughts

I think that most of us have been in that sort of situation at one time or another!
In my case it was a work mate who sexually assaulted me, denied it even though I had a witness, and whilst I was off on the sick, he convinced every one in my work place that I was a lying, evil, jealous **** who wanted him sacked and that I had planned the incident! I had never done anything bad to him, in fact we had a good working relationship until this happened. He was so believable, coz he looked like someone's happy old granddad that the majority of people did believe him. When he was finally caught out, he was sacked and when I went back to work, very few people spoke to me. It was one of the worse times of my life but I stuck it out because as far as I was concerned, I was in the right! What amazed me was that none of the idiots that I work with, would admit that if he was telling the truth, then I would have been sacked and he would have still been working there!!
What goes round comes round? Well, he has now had a stroke and he cann't speak! I think that the powers that be have decided to stop him telling lies and this is the way they have done it!
I never wished any evil on him but I still believe that he was taken to task over what he had done.
So Lynx, one never knows what will happen.

Children asking for a pet.

Well, how about 2 little Yorkies! They will keep each other company when you are not there, and they are very good with children, but I don't think that I would have the 'Toy' ones as they can be very small.
Be warned, Yorkies are like choccie cookies, you may not stop at one or even two. . . . I ended up with five! And I loved every one of them, great fun!

Do you look good for your age?
Posted:
8/10/2009 1:29:33 AM
I usually tell people that I have 3 ages!
Ask me on a night out and I will tell you I feel about '29ish' (I loved that age)
Ask me the following morning and I will whimper ' about 99 and stop shouting' (headaches and slight hangover, cann't drink more that 4 drinks without morning after effects)
And the rest of the time, I probably look a couple of years younger than my age!
I think that the real reason that we all look good/younger than we are, is that we no longer act like our parents did when they were our age. My mum really thought that at 50 she had brought up her children, seen some of her grandchildren born and all that was left was retirement and 'pottering' around until her maker called her upstairs! And she would never think of spending money on improving her looks, ie botox, teeth whiteners, etc and to be fair, there is far more stuff available for us lot to improve our looks
Whereas our generation see 50 as the start of a second lease of life to do all the things that we were unable to do coz we were busy with our children and home etc.
So what I am saying is that our mental attitude has a lot to do with how we feel and I believe, how we look at life and how we look.
Enjoy

Siblings...do you get on with yours?
Posted:
7/16/2009 2:28:05 PM
I am the 'baby' of the family and my brothers (2) and sisters (3) all claimed that I was spoilt rotten! My eldest brother is 19 years older than me and the next eldest (also my brother) is 17 years older than me so I guess that they did spoil their little baby sister! My 3 sisters who are 9, 11 and 13 years older than me thought that I was a blinking nuisance, and I guess that I was! I was always trailing around after one or the other and never really felt wanted! In fact, I found out years later that the one who was 9 years older than me ( and who was fussed over until I was born) hated me so much that she threatened to stab me with a knife coz she didn't want a baby sister! Do I get on with them? Yes to my brothers but my sisters ( who I rarely so ) not really. It is a shame coz if you haven't got family to support you, I think that you are missing out. And does the age gap make a difference? I think it did in my case.

Half a Crown (two shillings and sixpence)
and the old games that we played
Hopscotch
French skipping
loads more and when I get five mins I will add to these

how soon
Posted:
7/4/2009 11:24:34 PM
It took me about 3 years to think about it, and I don't think that I would go out with someone who had been split up from a long term relationship for less than a year. I have found too many men keep on talking about their ex if it has been less than that, of course, it does depend on how long they were together, I think that the longer that a person was a 'couple' the longer it takes to get over it. It is just my opinion.

Who's The Mommy

The only comment I would make about MJ is that it did not matter WHO abused my child, they would not get away with it! No amount of money on this earth would stop me from seeking justice in the courts, so I have a thought that if a family could be 'bought off' then did the abuse really happen or was it a situation to be taken advantaged of. The doubt is there.

Proud of Heritage. Are you?
Posted:

Yes, I am proud to be Welsh, I was born in the Rhondda Valleys in South Wales and I love all things Welsh. I still live in Wales and I made sure that my children were born in Wales and told them stories of Welsh history and I am now telling my grandchildren the same stories. It makes the country more 'real' for them to know how people lived many years ago.

The names we give our children
Posted:
6/5/2009 12:17:51 AM
I picked my first son's name when I was about 9yr old, I just loved the name Jonathan, my ex picked my daughter's name coz she was born on his birthday, Nicola and I liked Dawn so she became Nicola Dawn, and my youngest was a choice between Gerald or Gareth and I never liked Gerry so Gareth was the one with Dewi as his middle name!

Survey reveals one third of Brits Lie
Posted:
5/21/2009 12:29:17 AM
I am a Market Researcher and I would probably say that the majority of people lie at sometime in their life, even if it is only a 'little white lie' to avoid hurting someones's feeling. Some of the people that I have interviewed look me straight in my eyes and lie, such as when I ask 'how often do you drink alcohol?' 'about once a week' ' and how often do you go to a pub or club to have a drink? ' 'about once a week' 'and how often do you drink alcohol at home?' 'oh, about twice a week'
Some people don't even realize that what they have said constitutes a lie! They really don't think of what they are saying, and I don't think that they mean any harm by it.
I know that I have said lies to avoid hurting people, and when you have children you become a good liar! You tell your children not to speak to strangers then once a year a strange man coming into your home and gives you presents!!

Are women given a fair deal in divorce ?
Posted:
11/11/2007 2:08:51 AM
Hi, I just have to give my side of it, although it did happen nearly 25 years ago.
My ex walked away with just his clothes and his sterio and told all and sundry that 'I had it all, the house, the kids and even the dog!'
But what he did not say was that he have me £4 a week each for my three children and nothing for me. ( I refused any money for me even though the judge said that I could)
He left me with all the bills and the mortgage and all the running costs of the home and the children. As the mortgage had 18 years to run, he in effect left me with 18 years of debt and he got away with very little to pay. 8 years later I told him my side of the story and he addmited that he did not realise what I had to pay out and he did appologise. At least I had nothing to thank him for, except making my lovely children with me.

Sex in the woman mind after 40.
Posted:
7/9/2007 5:13:46 AM
Sex keeps getting better and better as I get older, I think it is because I am more confident to knowing what I want and what I need. But it is not all one way, coz I know how to please and enjoy my partner too. I have the confidence to tell him how and what I like as well as listerning to him too. So, yes, I think of sex often, not all the time, but very often.

do you really regret
Posted:

Do I regret it?
Oh yes yes yes yes!
I married him because I really loved him and we agreed that it was untill that little wooden box, but he married me for totally the wrong reasons. It took me a couple of years to figure it out and so we split 5 years down the line. Took me 2 years to get over the hurt and betrayal and although I still see him from time to time, we have settled into a sort of friendship, but every now and again I think that I was SO gullible to have belived him and I get angry with him for treating me so badly. I also find it harder to trust men now because he knocked my self confidence, but life does go on. I did make a decsion not to see other men until I had sorted my feelings out and that took a little time. now life seems fine!

Misunderstandings over 'Separated'
Posted:
8/12/2006 7:28:33 AM
Well here in the UK being seperated usually means living apart in different households, but there may or may not be a financial implication involved, when a couple who have children split up, the parent who left has to (and should) support his children. Also, divorce can cost an awful lot of money so people chose to stay seperated until they can afford a divorce.
So should those seperated people not date? Everyone deserves a chance of happiness, and as everyones situation is different and unique to them, please do not dismiss seperated people without taking some time to get to know them.

Desperation and being older...
Posted:
8/12/2006 7:02:06 AM
Well, I am in my early fifties and been on my own (by choice) for nearly three years and this is what I have found
Thingss to enjoy when you are older
to come home and kick off your shoes and know no-one will sigh and moan about how untidy it looks
putting something down THERE and it will be THERE untill you pick it up again
treating the weekend/day off as a 'mini holiday ' coz you can do exactly what you want
sleeping on which ever side of the bed that you want even in the middle
having complete control of the tv remote
choosing your holiday
staying out up your friends with out feeling guilty
Having undivided attention and love from your grandchildren
not feeling bad about eating toast in bed in the morning
and that is just for starters....there must be more
