Do we really want to be in a relationship?
Posted: 11/4/2009 9:37:06 PM
hello fellow fishies..........just another "white woman" checking in.......

Excatly! Take note ladies. When a guy sends you a message, and you say to yourself, "well, he's not bad, but wow, look at THIS guy" and you delete the message to talk to the better looking guy that turns out to be an ass or a player. Then later you send a message to the good guy. Well, that kinda makes us feel like something you are just "settling for, or just deciding to date until something better comes along. I mean, if we wernt good enough the first time...........................

OMG...... you mean that happens to GUYS too............ of course it DOES..... and it's no fun, i'm sure for either sex....and i have had it happen to me many times. and for the record, the gals do it to their gal friends too.... as in, "sure ML, maybe we can go to that movie on saturday night, but i'll have to let you know for sure on saturday afternoon"..... in other words......... if i don't have a DATE, then we can go to the movies.

YES, i would LOVE to be in a relationship, and YES i would make room for a man in my life if one just happens to appear........ and YES.......... i would rearrange MY routine for someone, and have done so in the past....however, it's not always easy for me as i have a son on a very structured schedule and it seems that I am more willing to accept THEIR situation than they are to accept MINE. so until i find "the one" that accepts ME and my "special circumstances" and is willing to work with what we have.... i'm happily SINGLE.

happy fishing y'all, Wolfie

from someone who has hosted AND co-hosted about a dozen (or more) parties i would say:

POST IT AND THEY WILL COME!!

seriously, OP< pick and place and time that works for YOU and a couple of others that are willing to help you out........ and POST IT.............. those who REALLY want to be there will make it there...... and if not, there is always "next time".

it sounds like a blast and i don't have a bike, but i can hold on tight and i make a pretty good back rest.....lol........ so i would volunteer to be a back seat rider too. i'll keep and eye on the thread to see what you decide.

The term Takes Care of Herself......
Posted: 11/3/2009 8:48:48 PM
dammmmmmmmmmmmmmm, silly me.... i thought the term "takes care of herself" meant a woman who knows how to TAKE CARE OF HERSELF............ as in....

i can do it better and faster than any man i've ever known"

need some advice
Posted: 10/27/2009 9:22:26 PM
Yaaaa Heysean has taken some of our advise, he's removed the "drinking pictures" that's a good start....... i mean most everyone likes to have a drink or two every once in a while, but when you have a drink in your hand in several pics, it makes ya look like a "lush".

and yes, mr.gatorbait, i KNOW how you feel and you know they say "born again non-smokers" are as like "born again christians".....lol....... always trying to get others to join them on "the other side!!"

i won't like, i had a really hard couple of weeks and broke weak and bought a pack........ then a second one......... but then i put them back down and am DONE......... and yes, i realized how bad it was when i went to a POF party at a local bar and when i got back in my car, i just REEKED of the smoke....... when i got home at about 3AM (hey, it was a great party!) i was in the shower and washing my hair.......dannnngit, even my bra smelled like smoke!!

anyway, good luck to ya......... and happy fishing.........

Posted: 10/27/2009 10:57:16 AM
well, thank you mr. gatorbait for pointing out to me that i am jaded..........

and thank YOU for being an honest man....... but trust me, there are a LOT here that are NOT....... and i'm not the only gal that has had issue with dishonesty. for me, it is a HUGE RED FLAG when i catch someone in a lie....... i'm too old to play games and i say so on my profile.

i am looking for a LTR, but know that it all starts with FRIENDSHIP...... and i am old enough to know what i WANT and what i NEED and i refuse to settle for less........ till then, i'm happily single...... happy fishing y'all !!

ok, so maybe i have been on this site a weeeeee bit too long........ and maybe i am "jaded" or maybe i'm just a "cynic"........

BUT, i think that men (and no, not ALL men) say that THEY are looking for a LONG TERM RELATIONSHIP because they think that's what the GIRLS are looking for....... not because that is REALLY what THEY want, but they think if they put down "dating" or "friends" that they won't get as much ATTENTION from the ladies........ of course that is just MY opinion. but in my experience here, that's the way it went. and if they DO want a LTR, and you hear this from them : "i'm not interested in a long term relationship" that sometimes means "i'm not interested in a long term relationship WITH YOU".

happy fishing y'all......

Posted: 10/24/2009 9:23:47 PM

hi.. just looking for some good advice to make a women respond to me.. i message peaple but seem to get rejected alot is it my profile something i need to change? would apreciate some good advice thanx :)

and now, back to our regularly scheduled program.........

1) get better pictures..... up close so we can see your pretty smile.

2) put down that beer..... that's a huge turn off for lots of gals. (myself included)

3) use spell check or a dictionary....... and proper punctuation. (another pet peeve of many gals)

4) tell "us" ( gals ) what YOU are looking for in a mate and what YOU will bring to a relationship. (really, we want to know!)

5) like several peep said..... "be yourself"

6) and be a gentleman........ gals LOVE that!!

7) happy fishing!!

justnancy, nice to see you and kow are playing nicely.......lol......... and kow, i totally understand what you are saying about people not wanting to be around smokers..... i smoked for 30 years and it is REALLLLLY hard to quit and to STAY that way........ now i try really hard not to be date smokers because i don't want to "fall off the wagon" but hey, sometimes we slip and fall......and then get back up and start all over again. i do however disagree that WOMEN get more attention then the men do..... at least that has not been the case for me. i do believe that if i change my tag line to: " I'm just here for the SEX !! " i WOULD get more attention..... but, alas, that's NOT what i am here for.......

also, kow, nice to see you speaking "english" and not "text".......lol............ glad to see you back on the forums.

Just a quick note to say THANK YOU!!!

thanks to my fabulous Cohosts, Nancy, Jojo, Vivianne and of course our grill master, Dan...... i could NOT have been able to do it with out all of your generous support and hard work.... Thank you seems so inadequate!

and to all the great folks who came out and brought food for us all to share, THANK YOU all as well........ we had a great turn out, lots of laughs, we each had time to see some old friends and make some new ones. for those of you who came from far away (palm bay, sarasota, clearwater and lakeland to name a few) thanks for having faith that it would be a party worth the drive!! (and i hope you still think it was!!)

it was my pleasure to organize and host this party and if YOU had a good time and want to do it again, just drop me a line or two and let me know, i'd be happy to do it all over again maybe in november. there will be several peeps adding pictures so be sure to check back later to see them all. think pleasant thought and happy fishing y'all!

Sincerely, your friend, Wolfie aka: Mary Lou

ps: Dan, i hope you get to use that apron for many BBQs in the future!! Just remember to have them "kiss and sign" with a sharpie marker so it won't wash out!

hello fellow fishies!!

ATTENTION EVERYONE...... WE WILL BE MEETING IN THE "PICNIC AREA" IN FRONT OF THE PAVILIONS. WHEN YOU ARRIVE, YOU WILL BE GIVEN A MAP OF THE PARK, NOTE THE LOCATION ON RIGHT SIDE THE MAP...WE WILL BE CLOSE TO THE VOLLEY BALL, HORSESHOE AREA AND THE PLAY GROUND. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE THERE!!

and since we can't bring balloons or put out any type of signs:
LOOK FOR THE PICNIC TABLES WITH THE FISHIES ON THEM!!

there is also a path way between the picnic area and the "swimmin hole" and we are also close to the canoe launching area as well.

if anyone has any questions, PLEASE fishmail me and i'll respond as soon as possible.

Helllloooooooooooooooo fellow fishies

thanks again to all of you guys for keeping this forum ALIVE and BUSY while i am dealing with my PC "issues" (aaargh!!) i really am glad to have you all on board!! i couldn't do it with out you guys!!

i just called the park and the pavilions are both RESERVED and not by US,
so that means we will be meeting in the picnic areas...... MORE INFO TO COME....i'm going to check it out tomrrow and will post the specifics then. i wish i could go camping toooooo........... i am going to try to make an appearance on friday afternoon/evening....... you guys are going to have a BLAST !!

hey rawbox, whassup?? wow, long time no see!!......sign up and come on down to the picnic......... there's lots of gals signed up and not many guys.......that mean the odds are good....but then the goods are odd..... (just KIDDING, ladies!!)

justnancy don't worry, i'm sure i can teach you how to HOWL.........and guess what y'all?? its a FULL MOON weekend........ oooow ooooow howwwwwll!!!

lewis yes, i admit it, you are right........... i should have included the LINK to the party thread in my mass email, however, it was my first time using that feature and even though i hit the "send to myself button to preview it" first, it still sent it out to everyone!! so i didn't have a chance to preview it and tweak it, and after i sent it and realized my mistake, it was TOOOOOO late......... sooooo, i'm using this as a "learning experience" and know next time NOT to use the "preview" button!! anywhoooo, i figure is someone got the email, and they are interested, they will drop me a line to find out more.......... maybe they will use a little thing called "common sense".....

and on that note.......now is the time fellow fishies to send out those PERSONAL invites to the party......is there anyone that you have been chatting up or emailing, or just admiring from afar?? well, now is the time for a safe, fun, stress free meeting place........ invite them to sign up and join us!!

don't forget to check back this weekend for MEETING PLACE info, and don't forget to SIGN UP and LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING!!!

When Did I Get Old ?
Posted: 8/12/2009 9:46:24 PM
hello fellow fishies......i'd like to share a true story: i went to my local walmart to pick up a few items.....and the cashier says to me...."hey,there's a whole counter full of stuff on clearance for a dollar, right over here" and being the bargain hunter that i am, i brought my shopping cart to a screeching halt and headed over there............sure nuff, a WHOLE counter full of "stuff" all for $1.00. i picked up several things............ most of which were over the counter pain relievers..... that should be the first clue... that i'm getting old.....

i picked up some aleve, a big bottle of excedrine back and body pain reliever, some icy hot and a few other items. but the big bargain was a box of nicotine gum...now, i have already quit smoking (and i have the 30lbs to prove it) but i have several friends that haven't but have expressed the desire to quit..... so i figure for a buck, what the heck......... i think of my friend donna (the names have not been changed to protect their identities, but none of them are fishies.... ) i call her all excited and tell her what i have for her....and she said, "ML, i can't chew gum......" "why not?" i asked.
"i have dentures"...........and i'm like, oh dammmmm, ok.......so who else do i know that wants to quit?? oh yeah, susan wants to quit, so i call her and tell her what i have and she says.........."i can't chew gum, i have dentures....." so, once again i think....
hmmm, NOW who can i give this to?? oh yeah, tina, she just told me the other day that she really needs to quit smoking but doesn't think she can do it alone..... so i call her in michigan........and.................yep, you guessed it............ she has dentures too!!

so, i my opinon........... you KNOW you are old when all your friends have dentures!! (and btw, i DON'T have dentures....lol )

i also feel old when i see a "kid" driving a car and think...."OMG, he can't possibly be old enough to DRIVE".

or like dianne said (and others too i think) when the DOCTOR is younger than me, or the DENTIST and it's especially weird when the GYNOCOLOGIST is younger....then i REALLY feel OLD....... although i did have one tell me that i had "the uterus of a teenager". (not sure if that was a compliment or if i should have sued for sexual harrassment!!)

i feel old when i am working hard and realize that a job that used to take me 3 hours to get done is now taking me 4 (or more) and then again when i get home and have to pop some of those $1.00 OTC pain relievers from walmart!!

i feel old when i look in the mirror and see my mother's body (just like naughtical) but then realize that my smart mouth and the thin filter on my big mouth came from my dad!!

and some days i feel like i'm just a "spring chicken".............. but those days are sooo few and far between.......... happy fishin' y'all........and think pleasant thoughts!!

Wolfie

ps: hey hallie........ if playboy calls, i say GO FOR IT..........and leslie......thank you for sharing....................let me know if you get more email after that sexy little announcment!

my standing rule is : i never date anyone who wasn't born when i graduated from high school.......... my first question is...."where were you in 1976?" and if they were still a "twinkle in someone's eye, they are too young for me.......

What made you smile today?
Posted: 8/3/2009 8:00:04 PM
what made me smile today?? i sent three cat carriers with three cats in them to be spayed/neutered (neighborhood strays.......i'm trying to curb the kitten explosion in my neighborhood) and when i picked them up.......i had an extra cat!! seems that when i captured one, i had actually gotten TWO in one crate......... thankfully the wonderful people at the C.A.R.E. program (catch and release for feral cats in orange county where i live) went ahead and "fixed" her too......... even though the limit is three cats at a time.........

knowing that i am helping to break the cycle of unwanted kittens makes me SMILE ! i still have about 6 more to catch in my neighbor hood......especially three males that have wreaked havoc and produced countless kittens..... i call them "sneaky", "slinky" and "big mac daddy" (you have no idea HOW Many little orange kittens HE has produced)......i'll be catching them next........... now that will really make me smile!!

happy fishing y'all.............. and think pleasant thoughts.....Wolfie

Any Interest in an All-Day NON-ALCOHOLIC Party? Play volleyball, kickball, softball, swim and dance
Posted: 7/30/2009 10:24:30 PM
reellady4u, i tried to email you directly, but i'm not a MAN....

i was just going to introduce myself since it appears all my "cohorts" have posted on here except for me....... i have been with POF for (dare i say this??) for off and on about three years, and one thing that has been asked me more than a few times...."when are Y'ALL (meaning area hosts') gonna have an event that's NOT in a BAR???" or " when are y'all gonna do something outside that i can bring my kid(s) to?? " (i relate to this because i have a son with an "absent" father....usually where i go, HE goes.) and then there is the "why can't y'all do something where we can have some "activities" and stuff to do ?"

soooooo, there ya go, there are LOTS of peeps who will be interested in coming and bringing their kids..... so as for the party in sept, let's say it's not a "party for the kids" but a "party for the adults who have kids and want to include them." and to that i would add, that this would be an event where people have to use their own discretion as to what is TOO young to bring, what they want their kids to see and do and act accordingly. of course, the event that nancy, dan and i are planning IS in a state park BUT i suspect it won't be totally "non-alcoholic", i'm sure there will be those that will have their drinks if they want them. as long as people are discreet, i don't care what they have in their cups! and after helping with a picnic/canoe/camping event there last year, i know that as long as people are RESPONSIBLE and DISCREET, the rangers don't care either!! (as a matter of fact, at that event we celebrated the birthday of a POFer who was also a park ranger there!!) (and btw, we had over 100 ppl show that weekend)

we just want to host a picnic for adults that is "kid friendly". those who want to bring their kids can and those that don't can leave them at home.... and if people don't like KIDS, then they should stay outta the state parks even if POF isn't there.... coz, if it's a park, there's gonna be kids.

so, reel, in closing i would say i hope that you WILL rethink the idea of hosting a beach party.......and if you decide you want to come over and party with us....we'll be happy to have you......... my motto has been and always will be: PLAN IT, POST IT AND THEY WILL COME!!

happy fishing y'all and don't forget to THINK PLEASANT THOUGHTS!!

Are you becoming more set in your ways, making you less likely to find a realtionship?
Posted: 7/28/2009 9:17:01 AM

Wolfie, what nerve, a doghouse? You should've told him if he makes a doghouse it will be for him, not the dog!

actually hallie, that is EXACTLY what i told him............. "that he would be sleeping in it before MY dog would....." he never really was an animal lover and was always trying to get me to get rid of her (and a couple of cats too) and half of the "stuff" in my house.......... geeeze, he was a pain in the A$$!

one time, my A/C unit was freezing up and water flooded part of the carpet and he told me i needed to "kick the dog out because she had peed on the carpet"......well, don't cha know i got a towel, sopped it up and showed him it wasn't pee.......and told him in the 14 years i had had her (she's 17 now) she had NEVER, i repeat, NEVER.....peed in my house............ then i made him apologize to her........... yep, sure did....made him look her in the eyes and tell her he was sorry.......

and yes, i aintold, i think lots of us are "set in our ways" and we've still got friends who want to hang out with us.......lol......Thank God!!

at least you can blame some of your "quirks" on your Feng Shui..... i just blame mine on being the single mother of a severly handicapped child, who is on a strict schedule of meds and therapies and fact that i have had to fight tooth and nail to get everything he needs and of course the rest i blame on being "my father's daughter". soooo, yep, my (sometimes) obnoxious/sarcastic personality is here to stay........
in my own defense, usually if there is a certain WAY i like things done, there usually is a really good reason......lol.......a "method to my madness", i'd like to say.......

a very wise woman i know (my mom) told me.... "you have to learn to accept people with their faults" and pretty much, i try to do that.......but for the one's that want acceptance for THEIR faults......but don't want to accept ME as I am...... as i said in my above post.........."if'n ya don't like it......... there's the door, and don't let it hit cha in the A$$ on the way OUT....."...... and like justnancy said a few posts ago, i've been around LONG enough to know what i want, what i need and what i deserve.....and till i find that person...........if he even exists......well.......... i'm content to be single.... better to be single and content that "coupled" and miserable.

and bob..........thanks again for cracking me up........... of all the words i can think of to describe you.........."round" wasn't one that came to mind.......

happy fishing y'all!!

Are you becoming more set in your ways, making you less likely to find a realtionship?
Posted: 7/27/2009 9:42:35 PM
hmmmm, set in my ways................. less likely to find a mate??? OOOOOH, so that's what the problem is...........

hallie, i too have had a cooking partner like yours......... lets just say we didn't do it many times.........

bob.......... you CRACK ME UP...........and YOU CAN COOK TOO...???? you're for sure the "whole package".........that's gonna be a lucky fishie that reels YOU in.....

spacey..... whasssupppp??? how ya doin?? ya know, i love those dang ole M&M's or W&W's...... menopause and chocolate........ what a combination........... oh yeah, try adding "quit smoking" into the mix....aaarggghhh!!! it's one helluva combo, i'm here to tell ya!!

nancy, i think there are lots of us that would "bend" if the right breeze was to blow in..... i know some things are more flexible than others.........i once had a "boyfriend" who brought over a bunch of wood....when i asked him what he was gonna do with it he said "i'm gonna build a dog house".......... well, guess what?? he didn't have a dog....he thought he would put MY dog in it............. now that's when i had to put the foot down....... and one issue i won't bend on......... and that makes me set in my ways...... well there's the door mister, and don't let it hit cha in the A$$ on the way out!!

happy fishing y'all......... .......... and think pleasant thoughts!!!

Well, now gentlemanjim....... i just read your whole profile and i think yer pretty HOT

and i knew something was "fishy" with my "matches" when on closer inspection i notice that MOST of them don't meet my "criteria"..... i'm also wondering about that "viewed by" screen.....did those people REALLY look at my profile or is that just another way to get people chatting to each other?? hmmmmmmmm, sometimes i wonder.....coz i wrote to a guy that had "viewed me" and made a comment that i noticed that he had checked out my profile...and he wrote back that they he had NOT and didn't know what i was talking about.....

I think the solution is that we all go to a place that still has mud wrestling and all the hosts/hostesses settle their differences in the "ring" while we all drink and cheer for our favorites. Now THAT'S a POF event.
Cajun, do you volunteer to be the referee?
P.S. Will someone please call maintenance to clean up all this elephant crap before someone trips or slips and gets hurt.

hello fellow fishies.........all this bickering, name calling, arguing and debating, whew, i'm exhausted !!!....... and after reading EVERYSINGLEPAGE of this thread.......... all i can say is:

thank YOU bob, for making me bust a gut.......... that was the best laugh i have had all day!!!

come on.......lighten up fishies............ think pleasant thoughts.......... and happy fishing!!

Wolfie

ps: and for the record, i have hosted a couple of events, and co-hosted at least a dozen more.......and it's not the SIZE of the group, but the people who make up the group. the three events i hosted were small, one at a cigar shop/jazz trio/beer and wine place and anothers at two small local pubs........ there were less than 50 people at each of the events........ but everyone STILL had a great time..... QUALITY is still better than QUANTITY in my book.

good thread leslie........

if someone emails me and i am not interested............ i usually just say something like: "Thank you for your interest in my profile, but after reading your profile, i don't think we are a good match. good luck in your search for love and happy fishing."

i try to never LIE.........and if i find a person totally unattractive to me, i don't tell HIM that, i just use the above line. no reason to hurt the person's feelings too. (even though i have been told "i'm not into fat chicks" or "you remind me of my X wife" besides, i don't like it when others lie to me........so i try to avoid doing it to others. (lies also have a tendency to snowball)

i HATE it when someone says to me, in response to MY email : "thanks for the email, but i am currently seeing someone" or "thanks but i am currently dating someone and am not looking" BUT i still see them online all the time......... and their profile is still up and not changed in anyway indicating that they are "attached"

and YES , i know people stay on the site after they meet someone, but when i have been dating someone exclusively, i always make a note of my status on my profile.......but i don't close my account on the off chance that "he's the one" or, i have in the past, hidden my profile for the duration of the relationship. and all of my POF friends that i wish to socialize with have my personal cell number.

IF they send me a rude one, i USUALLY don't respond.......however, IF they catch me when i am PMSing, they might get a response..........in my defense, i TRY to be nice........sometimes however my sarcasm shines thru anyway.

ya know, it just like when i look at who viewed me or anyone i look at........if i see the following in the paragraph about what they are seeking ....... i just click on to another profile because i KNOW i am NOT what they are looking for....even if i am very interested in THEM. those words are: "slender", "fit", "spontaneous", "girly -girl", "available for over night trips," " has no kids or animals" , "loves to wear stillettos and short skirts" or any related remarks........ no point in wasting either one of ours time.
and if i see "doesn't want kids" or "all my kids are over 18" or smokes or drinks i am usually NOT interested.........

to each their own........ happy fishing y'all !!! Wolfie

Michael Jackson Is Still Dead
Posted: 7/4/2009 3:03:13 PM
i was michael jacksoned out before the day finished.......... good grief......... his body wasn't even cold yet (or was it.....???) and they were showing a "retrospective" of his life........ and holy cow, al sharpton didn't waste anytime getting his face time on ALL the channels..........

IMHO......... he was a musical genius, a pedophile and a freak of nature all wrapped up in polka dot jammies and a silver glove!

and oh yes, there is much more news worthy stuff going on....but it's MJ on all the papers..........and that's what is selling them....... sad but true........health care (or LACK OF IT)..... homelessness........ banking collapse........ war....... killing......genocide .......... starving children.........farrah died, ed died, oxyclean guy died.......MY step grandmother died.....and so did one of my favorite cats.....but that's sure not gonna make the headlines...... !!

and to be completely tasteless, i'll add a joke that someone texted me before the day was thru........ : "since michael jackson was 99% plastic, it's been decided that he will be melted down and made into leggo blocks so now little boys can play with HIM for a change."

If you read this thread carefully you will find it has a "double entendre” meaning people here are comparing “how” they eat a cookie to “how” they make love.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooopppppppss!!

ok, so i am a "stand up kinda woman" too, so i will admit, i was WRONG............. i knew this was a "double entendre" thread.........but i thought people were comparing how they "eat a cookie" to how they eat....ummmm.........well, an....um......errrr, aaaaa, .....for lack of a better term........how they eat a .. " fur burger " or in the case of a woman's remark......... how she prefers "her cookie" eaten... oh well, i might be on the wrong thread now......but what the heck.......

happy fishing y'all............ and think pleasant thoughts........ Wolfie

PS: to stay on thread........... best thing that happened this week is my mom had to have an angiogram and all results were GOOD!!
AMEN to that!!
