I am a very young 55+ and I love to dance and have a good time. Im willing to offer my assistance if anyone wants to do a 50+ gtg of some kind for POF.
I just wrote in a forum about the difficulty of enjoying clubs like MYST and yet the average age is 21 there .. but the music rawks!!!
So.. shall we gtg and do something.. while I dont watch murder she wrote, I must say Im getting very tired of Law and Order that seems to run in various versions all the time on Cox cable.
Oh and any 50+ golfers out there.. perhaps I should say any 50+ duffers??
anyway, Im game to help get something started

Local entertainment in the valley of the sun this weekend june 19/20

This is a great list Luck, however here is an problem.. what kind of music do some of these bands play.. my guess is that nurse ratchet is probably not country.. but the Earps and Itis aren't really a big hint for those of us new to the Valley.
Much as I hate to admit it... I loved the music they play at Myst only felt like the only granny there. Thank Gawd Im not hungup. So where do the immature Junior baby boomers go when they wanna dance with men their age to good pop, hip-hop and even some good Motown?
So where do the partiers from the class of 70-90 go to parrrrr tay??

Today was a good day because as I took the trash to the dumpster this am dancing and prancing under the sprinklers just a quacking away was a young (very shiney) male duck doing his damndest to impress this small brown duck.
I thought "man if a guy tried that hard to get my interest, I'd cut him some slack"
I hope he got the girl, because they were gone by the time I got back

OMG you have all given me some wonderful places to explore.
First off I adore seafood and nothing tops off great crab cakes than a nice hot cup of coffee. Like you Ursula, I despise Starbucks, for some reason it always has a burnt taste for me too. Im not a coffee wuss. I love Turkish and Egyptian coffee. Cuban cafe con leche and still to this day drink bold German coffees. But they dont have a burnt aftertaste.
keep the tips coming, you may actually help someone besides me

TRAVEL

its also possible some of us like a bit of both.
for me weekends are for being a house mouse. Especially on rainy days, just staying in bed late reading or watching a video. Sometimes I actually feel domestic and bake.
But vacations. Travel is a must. Not only travel but as far as my money can take me. I think thats from being a military brat and wife for a total of 45 years. I love to explore new things and would never dream of getting a tour guide. Much more fun to grab a map and check things out.

I am so happy to tell my POF friends I am currently 1/3 of the way to my new apt in Scottsdale AZ.
So, those of you who have lived in the valley of the sun, what special places do you know about? Ones you are willing to share.
For example I now know of a great little Ethiopian resturant and a place that does a car wash with interior cleaning for 8.99.
Sooo... who knows the best place to buy seafood, the quaint hole in the wall with great food, your favorite plastic surgeon, who you trust to service a car, etc, etc...
AZ, Im counting on you to come to the house warming.. soon as I get my furniture here that is.
btw, when I left this am at 5, it was 32 The entire day never got higher than 47.

There is always a gimmick. What is the old saying.. you cant fight city hall?
Anyway Ifound it interesting that when I first moved to TN I was told that all you needed to do to pass the emissions test no matter how old the car was to get an oil change just before you go. Having had a 1972 mustang at the time (1995), I did it and passed every time.
So it makes you wonder just how effective is this whole system

AZ you are right.. my puter crashed another isnow up and running and actually I am job hunting in arizona for my internship.
Anyone need a counseling intern from a grad school student??
I will post my "new to me convertible and hopefully some new pics since now the one in the yellow is over a year old LMAO. Besides.. its 10 lbs ago.. LESS hehehe
Anyway am scheduled to be in AZ in May for my birthday but hopefully will find an internship prior to that and be there then.
Have I mentioned on the AZ forums about the old German saying that if you are so choosy about a date, go to the bakery, design a perfect one and have the baker bake it up for you?

Anyway, I agree with you. It is about choices. But I will say this. For every jerk there is a decent man, who is well worth staying on POF for.
In fact I know one right now who altho he is looking for a longterm relationship, lives in Arizona, has a terrific sense of humor, is a real mensch and I know he is not a player, corresponds with me.
He saw and respects that my ad says "friends". He responds to my emails, knowing that with me in PA he isnt going to be able to hop into his car and hop into my bed. He has truly become a good friend to me over the last several months. So ladies, know he is out there... IN Arizona... and has been added to the list of men I think you ladies in Az are not seeing for looking.
Always remember, not every guy who wants to meet you that is on the other end of the state is married. Perhaps, he is like you are, not finding what he wants within the confines of his 10 mile radius either.
Life's short. and for some of us (Im 54) very short, so dont set limits on your happiness. Oh and any of you married men looking for women to get laid. Get a life!

Are all men Co-Dependent???
Posted:
1/26/2009 9:18:20 AM
I think that is a sensible way to go about it.
Is it really wrong to take your time and get to know someone on a "friendship" level or does it have to be poof I have dated you once you are now the one. (That goes for males or females, btw).
You dont get to be over the age of 50 (in my case) without some baggage. I dont mind if you have it, after all, I do too. But it takes time to know if you carry that baggage, polish it, keep it all polished and labled, or in the case of my baggage, drag it behind you, with tons of labels on it, battered and bruised, and looked upon as an old friend that occasionally comes to visit.
Forget the codependent men, those I can appreciate, its the emotionally distant, Im just here to get laid as much as I can so I can bolster what ego I have and never mind what you put in your forum I dont read it anyway Im just looking for T and A .
So codependents, need a friend..

I myself prefer meeting in a neutral location as it is.. no "home turf" advantage.
I belong to a support group online for people with children who are disabled.
I have met people at the Liberty Bell in Philly, Baltimore Harbor, Montezuma's castle, the list goes on.
In Arizona there are so many wonderful places you can meet up that would be half way from just about anywhere in the state.
This good thing is if you have a "OH MY GAWD, what was I thinking moment" You can focus on the attraction or on the gift shop junk. Buy a tee shirt and call it a day.

Are all Arizona Girls Just Pissed???
Posted:
1/11/2009 9:50:32 AM
People are people.
I dont think its so much that people (AZ girls, boys or any other state) are just pissed. I think it really has to do a lot with expectations.
BTW Jewl talk to your attorney, You can move, you will probably have to pay for all the plane fare tho'.
Watch your expectations. For example, why are you as a man getting angry at me for 1. telling you Im just looking for friendship right now, no I wont boff you the first time we meet
2. That now that you have confided in me that you are married, my respone is what the F?? (Thats my expectation... that legally married men dont go on dating websites, silly moi)
There is an old saying in Germany, If you want the perfect mate, go to the Bakery and have the Baker put in the ingredients you want and have one baked.

First off Luck,
Reason grass is greener on the other side? More bul*chit.
I cant really answer responsibly to this particular thread because of the fact that one, I am only looking for friendship at this point in time. (nearing end of my degree.. who has time) and frankly, its BECAUSE there is nothing of interst to me in my local area that I even went on POF.
Hell Luck probably spends more on a "let's meet and go out on the town" night than a good deal on airfare.
I think longer distance is fine. It gives you time to really get to know each other other than sexually
and travel broadens the mind.
Besides, my last visit to AZ I ended up meeting two fabulous ladies! Hey if a girl has peeps, who needs anything more? Seems all the men chickened out LOL

Ahem.
Im sitting here with over an inch of ice on my car, sidewalk and driveway. I have not left the house all day, no point, interstates are closed. No sympathy or empathy here.
Tell ya what those who freeze our toes do. When it's that 4 days of lovely hot summer, the kind you get 300 days of, we go out. To the mall to the grocery store, to the Park to the local museum to anywhere that does not look like the inside of a house.
It never ceases to amaze me people have trouble meeting anyone but then I would talk to the devil.
Anyway, dont just look for place where people meet. Be open to meeting people
that means if the guy looking for the smallest onion in the bin at the local grocery store doesnt have a ring and looks single, make a comment on how hard it is to buy just one small onion for one person. Oh, and a big smile and a bit of lipgloss helps too.

Im with TexanAZ, but then again, I usually am.
I think your ad is heartfelt. Only thing I would recommend is just like here put spaces inbetween much like a pause in a sentence.
Even here on the forums I will read one that is spaced but if I see one long block of words, I skip it.
Also being brutally honest. What you are looking for in a woman, we are all looking for in a mate. Thing it, its the same description that I would tell you about my dog.
For example, you love your kids. I imagine you get visitation. So would it be a good guess you would love to meet a woman who's idea of a fun weekend is cheering on her favorite pee wee ballplayer. Or a woman who is not afraid to get her hair messed up and sticky fingers at the amusement park. Ok well you get the drift.
What do you day dream about? Shaddup Runswith sticks, not all men focus just on that. Thats what you hope to find.
I wish you lots of luck. Remember, good things come to those who patiently wait for the best and dont settle for the rest.

Runs you are a hunny for sure.
As for the pics, the people I have met from POF do look like their photos. However, they were all women.
Natural beauty runs was about 25 yrs ago LOL. Today, you will just as likely find me at the makeup counter looking for the latests "youth in a jar" as any other mid century modern woman. Do I want to be young. NO. Do I want to look good for the age Im at? YES.
I dont mind so much the cropped pics. What I find interesting is what possesses a man to take a pic of him and his motorcycle/boat/bike so that he is so far away you cant see a face. Show me the face, the trappings dont matter. Hopefully, any guy looking at my pics will think the same. However I do admit I did take one of me in my new (for me) convertible.
New pics to follow LOL

I am soooo confused.
Ever go to a bar, church social, singles dance, etc, etc?
Get real, non smokers dont sit in the smoking section. You dont ask the guy sitting with his wife to dance. The hot babe is gonna turn ya down flat unless you are a hot hunk.
The men go after the babe with the small waist and the big tits, never mind if she has a 2 digit IQ.
POF is very much like real life. You have your winners, your losers, your whiners and your hot stuff.. wow..just like real life. Go Figure.
I quit smoking 4 years ago was it hard? dayaumright! Do I want to date a smoker? No way Jose. Two reasons, the smell makes me ill now and secondly Id be afraid that instead of stopping with me, Id be joining him.
One thing no one talks about on POF as a possible motive for not jumping right in and going out the first time you talk to a guy or girl. What about fear?
Let's face it, if most of us were really good at the dating game we would not be on here. Most of us are decent human beings, probably a little lonely, wanting someone but also fearful of taking a risk, getting hurt again, not being good enough, etc. etc, etc.....
I see it like this.. you can mix butter, eggs, milk oil and flour and vanilla and chocolate pour into a 2 pans, one ya bake in the oven for an hour.. one you nuke in the microwave for 15 minutes. Which do you think will be the better cake. If it is worth eating, it is worth waiting for (no comments from you runs). So if someone you find interesting is a bit hesitant.. what the heck have ya got to lose? Its not like your fingers wear down when typing. ok Im going to get off of my soapbox now and go to bed..
non-smoking,cat-loving, must be single, have a 3 digit IQ and know who Norma Jean Baker is., it helps if you like Barry White, pagypsy

depends on whose nuts and whose bush.
Thing is.. be as illegal as you want. I dont care how you get here since we are a stew of different nationalities... but dang it, learn our language. If you went to France you would have to learn French. I know.. Ive been there.
So perhaps its hard to get a discussion going because... no one wants to be too controversial since its a dating site. Or... we really are boring and dont realize it.

Are all men Co-Dependent???
Posted:
4/16/2008 7:08:19 PM
Ok.. um, er ah..
Thats it. Not shutting my mouth any longer. Men are co-dependent, women are codependent if one examines the true implications of codependent behavior.
1. external referencing (that is I only feel good ie, my self esteem is tied up in you)
2. personalization- thats it exactly.. taking every thing too personal
3. gullibility, being a bad judge of character
4. a bad judge of character who has difficulty confronting.
Frankly if you look at the DSM under 301.6 Dependent Personality Disorder
most of us would see parts of ourselves reflected in the pages.
Especially the part where it states, " When a close relationship ends (eg., a breakup with a lover...) Individuals with dependent personality disorder may urgently seek another relationship.... and become quickey and indiscriminately attached to another person." (APA, 2000, p.722)
So how long has it been since your last break up?

Well there is my dream car and then there is my affordable dream car..
This fall I Finally bought my affordable dream car. Toyota Solara SE in pewter with black convertible top. Leather everywhere and all the bells and whistles. Great stereo system and with the Sirrius I can go from top pop to the old lone ranger radio hour in one click of a remote. Next on the list Bose speakers. LOVE the ones I got for my puter.
So whats that say about me. well it says:
1. Im a free spirit
2. I finally got my convertible back (last one was totalled by a 21 yr old on her cell rear ending me at 70 mph as I was sitting still.
3. I love the wind in my hair

Well I speak as a woman.
First I didn't realize when I put out my profile that to many "date" meant "sleep around"
Secondly, it never occurred to me a married man would want to date me or get upset if I said no.
So, yes, I am cautious. Is that wrong? It is often difficult for some of us in that we don't wish to look too eager or anxious. So I guess my question to you guys is, if you get the feel shes just looking to flirt why not move on and if she may be worth your while, give here some time? What have you got to lose but a few minutes of your time? What have you got to gain?
Hey what can I say? Ive been flirting with Luck and runs with sticks for over a year and they BOTH stood me up when I came to AZ
No complaining! It could be worse, your aunt Ethel could be looking for a "nice girl " for you to date.

I guess my ad should also say, already preparing for my retirement years by paying for my dentist's new hummer as he looks at me, smiles that sweet geeky smile and goes.. we need to do another root canal, this one is just tooo close to the nerve for comfort. so I may smell bad but by gawd I wont be gummy.

What star sign has worked out for you the most?

Dehubsith, Im a Taurus too
When it comes to star signs, pre-cognition etc, I prefer to keep an open mind. There are so many oddities in this world that make no sense, yet work. I myself think its the Universe's way of helping adults maintain some child-like wonder.
However, the sign that works best for me is "Yield"

Ok, sometimes I read profiles and wonder to myself wow, why is this person still single???
Then it occurred to me, that none of the dating sites list things such as bad habits, fears, phobias, etc. So here it is, Im just curious who else has the guts to let it all hang out.
Single white female
Favorite Food lately: What ever has the least calories.
Bad habit: Eat in bed and watch TV with the timer on so when I fall asleep it shuts off
Fears: Terrified of any form of reptile (yeah and Im planning on moving to AZ)
What exes have called you: Besides the obvious? Stubborn, childish, dreamer, "grow up" (loved that one), crazy oh and spendthrift (yes, people our age really do use that word).
Im a woman who hates being called m'aam. I have enough shoes to open up a size 8 only shoe shop and yet still hit the shoe dept first, so any man interested in me must have a lot of closet space (I also have a full complement of clothing in 3 sizes) Must like watching tv in bed, cold feet and hot flashes.
If you are looking for a hot body in an older lady, then learn to turn the light out or look elsewhere. My kids will always come first, and you will probably have to listen to every cute detail of their childhood from a doting mothers eyes. You will probably dislike my daughter (the last three did) and on bad days my cat will dislike you.
I would like to meet a man who doesn't snore too loudly, doesn't think shoving someones head under the covers when he breaks wind is funny. Someone who thinks its charming to come home and find yet again, I have re-arranged the living room. A man who
loves the idea of exercise, will go gung ho for about a month and its back to Oh my gawd Im so tired lets just get Chinese and watch history channel.
Ok ladies and gents, we have reality shows, lets see who is willing to get real.
I know I can count on my partner in crime Aztexan

Ok can you guess I'm a therapist, because I can see both sides on this matter Luck, yours and traxx
Luck I agree, our civil liberties are becoming less and less, however, somewhere along the line we forgot that to have them is to honor them. Today, its all about me.
True Freedom also implies responsibility. That is something that seems to be lacking anymore. Just as I have a personal responsibility to myself and my family, I also have a social and civic one. I love to speed and having been brought up for the most part in Germany. Here is the difference. In Germany, you have to be 21, attend a licensed school and pay about 5 thousand Euros for the privilege of driving. Otherwise there is this marvel of the old world called excellent public transportation.
Lucky dear, you miss a great gtg. had a lot of fun and trust me, "they" are watching you
Oh and traxxx I wanted to welcome you to the forum neighborhood and ask what part of Glendale. I lived there for a while and am thinking of there as one of my relocation spots in the greater phx area, but.. unfortunately you don't accept any long distance phone calls.

Yeah and meanwhile the Germans don't have speed limits on the autobahns, however, having tried so hard to become Americanized, they now recommend 100 km per hour to save the forests and the alps.
On the other hand, quitcher****en (as this pagypsy again tries to adjust to the stupidest law ever, daylight savings time)
