UFC and Pride
Posted: 10/2/2007 5:24:17 AM

If Zuffa decides to give Pride another try,

Not going to happen. Dana said that his intention was to continue running Pride in Japan but the business was just such a mess It wasn't feasible. So it is as good as dead unfortunately.

Bisping Vs. Hamill
Posted: 9/17/2007 3:19:21 AM
This shows that maybe the way Pride judged fights, is better than the way UFC do.

Pride used to judge the entire fight as a whole, rather than round by round as UFC do. This allows for anomalies like Hamill dominating the first five minutes then the following 10 minutes being close enough for Bisping to sneak and jab his way to victory.

Bisping Vs. Hamill
Posted: 9/13/2007 6:46:20 AM

Anyone watch this fight? I have no idea how they gave the fight to Bisping. I gave Hamill all three rounds, because he controlled the guy on the ground and his striking was more effective. It was pretty close, but I still think it was rather obvious that Hamill should have got the nod.

He never controlled him on the ground in rounds two and three.

The two Judges who gave the fight to Bisping both said that in rounds two and three, Hamill tired and Bisping landed a lot of jabs and counters. Bisping also defended most of the takedown attempts and when he was taken down, he was landing the more effective blows from his back.

The interesting thing is that the other British guy, Terry Etim, also lost on the undercard, and they never announced his loss to the crowd, according to Sherdog.com.

Yes they did. I was there.
For anyone to suggest thet they just let the two fighters walk out of the ring without announcing the result is bizzare.

Why Can't Airplanes Take-off/Land In Fog.
Posted: 9/6/2007 9:46:15 AM

Heathrow is the busiest airport in the world surrounded on all sides by major population centres, the fact that a major plane crash has not happened there is testament to the level of safety and caution that is in place.

cost of replica football shirts?
Posted: 8/14/2007 9:30:06 AM

Given the fact that we are advertising the club and its sponsors, I see no reason why these shirts aren't given away free at the ground.

Absolutely right. My cousin was going to get a Man Utd shirt for her Uncle in Trinidad, but decided against it as she though it looked more like a Vodafone shirt with a small Manchester United logo on it.

LEEDS UNITED
Posted: 8/2/2007 12:19:22 PM

i know how hard it is. when a club you love slides down the leagues and gets into money troubles. this happened to Birmingham City during the early to late 80's.

Well we were similar other than the fact that we were never high enough to slide. We have just languished around in the lowere leagues for 60 years or so. I did every league game last season despite us finishing bottom and only winning 8 out of 46 games

OP.
Just hang in there and keep supporting and if you really hate bates that much, the worst thing you can do is stop attending matches. Turn up and make sure he knows he isn't wanted.

LEEDS UNITED

Sometimes.

The problem is, that you can get a significant number of "day trippers" are there to enjoy the day out who don't add to the atmosphere.

Then you get the problem of the deserters. Leeds attendances are half what they were when they were in the Prem and will probably drop a bit more in League 1.

We want big clubs in the top flight not the likes of Wigan .

Is that down to bigger clubs having history, or is it just that Leeds is a better away day?

Interesting one.

The stick Leeds fans were getting, quadrupled after Bates shenanigans in May 07. It looked like he had manipulated the club into going into administration for an hour so they could buy it on the cheap, make a mockery of the 10 point deduction and write off 99% of the club's debt.

Bates and Wise at Leeds is the footballing equivalent of Osama Bin Laden winning the US Presidential election. Bates should be ditched based on my earlier points. As for Wise, he did well at Millwall and may possibly achieve something at Leeds. Bringing in a manager who knows what he is doing is simpler said than done. I think you need to appoint a short-term boss with a specific task of getting you out of League one.

Players wise you will need to be very shrewd as you cannot afford to throw money at the playing squad, and have them not perform (i.e. Bradford).

There is an assumption that Leeds will go up, which makes them fairly attractive for investment, but the longer you stay in L1 the more this will diminish.

It is a huge amout to ask for a new chairman to give buckets of money to a new manager, as there are 72 clubs in the football league asking for the same thing and it was that that got you in the predicament you are in now.

UFC can not compare itself to boxing.
Posted: 7/12/2007 7:25:15 AM
UFC did nothing to boxing.

Boxing has been self harming itself for years. The danger is, that people are holding UFC responsible for Boxing's problems and I don't think that is the case.

Having been to both Boxing and MMA events, I definitely left the MMA shows feeling that I got a better nights entertainment, than I did when I left the boxing shows. 75% of the fights were competitive, whereas at the Boxing shows, (here in the UK) I have seen an 8 fight card of which 6 of the fights were prospects taking on journeymen who had very little chance of winning the fights.

Personally I believe that there is plenty of room for both sports to survive.

Are You Coping Ok Without Any Football This Summer?...

Damn right I'm missing it.

Still the Football absence ends tonight with the first pre-season Friendly. Lets see which trialists have absolutely no chance of becoming professional footballers.

Debate: Are united buying the title?
Posted: 7/6/2007 9:13:10 AM
I don't agree with "buying the title" accusations, be it against United, Chelsea, Liverpool or anyone else.

To expect any team to not use their resources to get as far as possible, is absurd, imo.

I was there and the mud was bad, but didn't become problematic until Sunday.

From what people told me, the main problem in 2005 was flooding, which thankfully didn't seem to be as big problem this time round

UFC and Mix Martial Arts

Speaking of arm bar tactics, Anyone else see Yushin Okami submitting Rich Franklin later this month? I can see it happening.

Almost happened in round three. Okami took far to long to get going, imo.

UFC can not compare itself to boxing.
Posted: 6/20/2007 12:07:46 PM

UFC, MMA, wrestling is just for BUMS who can not box.

Has it occured to you that they are not boxers?

I watched the fight with Ali and the wrestler. All the wrestler done was stay on the ground and kick at Ali legs. That's all he done. He lay on the floor, seriously, watch the tape. If he would have fought toe 2 toe with Ali then there would have only been one winner.

Ali v Inoki (a pro wrestler) was years before MMA existed, so ranks as only slightly more relevant than Balboa v Thunderlips in Rocky 3

NO TOP UFC FIGHTER OR MMA OR A WRESTLER COULD BEAT EVEN A MEDIORCE BOXER IN A BOXING RING. I’m talking your everyday average journey man. However I reckon most top boxers could beat average UFC fights in an octagon.

Exactly what is this opinion based on? Considering Frans Botha is 2-6 in K-1 and Remy Bonjasky Ko'd Ray Mercer in ultra quick time. Art Jimmerson fought in UFC 1 and was beaten by Royce Gracie. Vitor Belfort has had a couple of pro boxing fights and won them.

Also now I think about, even if the best boxer went 1 on 1 aganist the best UFC fighter in an octagon, then boxer would win. If your life depended on it who would you go for : A peak Tyson Vs Chuck Liddell (Or any UFC fighter) in an octagon ? The thing is UFC guys don't fight; they just do moves which stop the other person from fighting. There is a difference. You watch their fights on 'youtube' and the punches are just sloppy and they just look awful.

Again, you are passing your hypothetical opinion as fact. If the MMA fighter "stopped" the boxer from fighting, what would the boxer do?

Another racist incident on Big Brother
Posted: 6/8/2007 6:24:16 AM
To be honest, I don't really think that Channel 4 are being PC on this. They are forced to do what they have done down to the fact that Ofcom pretty much have their nuts in a vice. Had they not chucked Emily out then Ofcom would have started turning the handle.

It really bothers me though that Charley has admitted that she has used the word before in the house and Channel 4/Endemol have not removed her from the house as well.

There is lots of great music around, you have just have to work a lot harder to find it than you did years ago.

Personally, I avoid the charts and rely on my peers to expose me to music. They have a much better understanding of what I like to listen to than any radio station.

sheffild utd possible court action
Posted: 5/17/2007 6:01:51 AM
To be honest, the blame falls with the FA.

They accepted the registration of the players despite questions being asked at the time and no satisfactory answers being given.

Having said that, the arrival of the Argentinians had a devastating effect on West Ham's form. Hypothetically speaking, they may not have been 10 points behind Sheffield United in the first place, had they not signed these players.

Personally I think West Ham should have been deducted points. AFC wimbledon were deductd points and Bury were disqualified from the FA Cup for feilding unregistered/incorrectly registered players.
