Well Done.
You're right. I've been on this site for 3 years, and most of the guys on here are looking for sex. Nothing else. Not sure why I stick around anymore.

The One
Posted:

This lonliness surrounds me,
suffocating
like the cold shoulder of him who doesnt care.
My thanks are many, and my needs few,
yet there is a deep painful void,
that I can't explain without you.
It seeps in from without, and out from within,
so the world can see plainly my discontent.
I gaze into the portal of so called friends,
strangers, opportunities. Missed.
This screen is no consolation prize for my true social solitude.
I put the computer down, and lie in my own arms.
I am ready for you. Waiting. Hunting. Ravenous.
You will complete me, no matter what they say.
I feel the absence of love. Of trust.
I will do what it takes to show you how you've left me here.
Making excuses for you. Blaming me.
I have everything you could desire.
Yet you walk right by me.
One after another.
Until I break.
You must be better than me somehow,
or else how could you overlook me.
Am I not deserving of love?
Oh yes, there are many who have loved me.
And I shun them. They were not you.
They were not the one I needed.
I can't settle, not yet. Not ever.
I would rather choke on this lonliness
my whole life
than miss my chance to be with you.
The one.

Are women apprehensive about dating a guy in the military?
Posted:
11/10/2008 9:02:37 PM
Hi Justin,
I went to basic in Borden two years ago, for the same reasons as you. I am now Pte3, I own my first home, and I love my job. The recruiters ARE full of shit, but not to worry, what you get isn't bad. You'll be at work earlier than 8 though, unless you're REALLY lucky. Most likely you'll be posted to a base maintenance unit somwhere, and you'll have PT at 7 am and ruckmarches on FRidays. It's not for everyone, but it's a good life. I say go for it. I bet you'll look super hot in uniform, and there's a lot of chicks in the military these days, like me. So if you can't find a civi to date, try a military woman. A good lookin guy like yourself will have no problems getting a date in the CF.

Well, first of all, I have a 15 and a 17 year old sister. They are beautiful, smart but they are still KIDS. Even though I had sex in my teens, I don't want the same thing for my sisters. Our bodies and our sex are sacred. Not to be given away on a whim or a crush.
If you enjoy this girl's company and you respect her, I don't see anything wrong with spending time with her.
BUT I think you would be taking advantage of a young impressionable girl with a crush if you sleep with her. No matter if her parents aren't around and she's very mature... Just cause it's legal doesn't make it right. If you care about this girl, you should abstain from intercourse until she has developed from a child into a woman... like 18. Give her a chance to grow out of her crush on you.

HOW did I screw this one up? I can't believe it....

I can tell you how you screwed this up. You stopped being yourself and started getting paranoid and needy. She's weirded out now, and wonders what happened to that confident guy she started dating a whie back. A rant about work is no big deal. It's all the insecure mumbo jumbo you did after that sent her running. If you do get to see her again, don't mention how you've been acting. the last thing you need is to remind her and drone on and on about how you are insecure. Just be confident. Make her laugh. Have good conversation. Don't text her often and wait for her to call. Good luck. You might be able to save this one if you stop your insecure whiny drivel and start being the confdent wantable man you started out as. Don't smother her. Get a life. Don't always be available...

Well, I can't tell you 100% that it would work, but at this point, I'm not sure what you have to lose... If he is just a friend as he says, then it shouldn't bother him. He's gotta understand that this great friendship is great, but it can't sustain your need for a boyfriend indefinately. If you do start seriously dating someone else, be perpared, because chances are you will spend less time with him, and he might start dating others too. If he doesn't either tell you he wants you as his girlfriend or starts dating others, I would start to wonder if he is asexual or gay...

Your Pet or YourRelationship?

I will never have a man who:
is quite as happy to see me when I get home from work as my dog is...
or thinks I'm as great as my dog does...
or is as happy as my dog is to take me for a walk downtown...
or wait patiently outside while I shop like my dog does...
or will religiously rinse the dishes after dinner like my dog does...
or will be ecstatic when I "throw him a bone" like my dog is...
or snuggle me as long as I want before I roll over to sleep...
... I'm starting to understand why I talk to my dog a lot and I've been single for so long...

Improper English and/or Grammar?
Posted:
11/9/2008 2:23:26 AM
I don't mind some abbreviations, but honestly, how much time does it take to write you, are, for or two? Abbreviate things like Talk To You Later, Laughing Out Loud or Instant Message; stuff that takes a few seconds to type. But if the word takes less than a second, spell it out! And please use punctuation. I go cross-eyed trying to get the gist of a paragraph lacking proper punctuation. Capitals in the right places always look smart too, even if you never got past the third grade.

Lesbian Attraction?
Posted:
11/9/2008 2:08:51 AM
I think you're being a little too general. Kind of like asking what attracts a straight guy? It's a pretty broad pool. What kind of lesbian are you looking for? More of a "lipstick" lesbian, or a more manly type? I dunno what would attract them, but I think you might have better luck if you decide what type of person you are looking to attract...not just "lesbian".

He's not interested or involved with someone else.
Not necessarily married, but maybe dating another woman or two. Would explain, if he has children, not wanting to bring different women home every weekend.
Stop being so available. Wait for him to text you. Good luck.

First off, That story was pretty hilarious.
None of that would have happened if you weren't so interested in screwing this girl you had nointerest in.
You want better experiences with dating?... Try dating women that you have things in common with, and don't have sex as a goal to end every date with.

You didn't need to do a property check. He gave you conflicting info. obviously this guy's a liar. I would cancel your next date with him and find someone who doesn't contradict themselves. Why you are continuing to date someone who is obviously lying to you is beyond me. Do you really want to stick around and find out what he's hiding? Not worth it.

Curved penis?
Posted:
9/20/2008 4:16:54 PM
I heard that curved penises are a product of the foreskin being cut too short as a baby, then as an adult, there is not enough foreskin for the erection to go straight up. I have seen a few curved ones, and the foreskin does seem to be streched to maximum...It seems plausible, but I don't know. Are there any uncircumsized men out there with a curved penis?

Women who feel they are giving sex in return for something bigger!
Posted:
9/20/2008 9:41:27 AM
Well now it gets interesting and if she is looking to take this relationship farther than you are, then I think I get where she is coming from. Its not that you dont want to get married, you dont want to marry HER. So why would she hang around sharing what she see's as being a part of a commited relationship, when you arent willing to commit to HER? She isnt using sex as a bartering tool, she is protecting herself from someone who is marking time until someone better comes along.
Very well put Grizz. I agree. I don't think she's using sex as a bartering tool either. Has she used it before in other situations? It doesn't sound like it... Like I said in my last post, I think OP needs to make up his mind. Commit or leave. It's real nasty of a person to wait around in a relationship that they're not into until someone they like more comes along. If you don't want to be in a relationship, LEAVE. BY YOURSELF. Leaving her for someone else in two years would be a low blow. She's trying to protect herself from being used, and I can see why.

Wow, a lot of people are being pretty hard on this girl! After 4 years, what issues are there that you're not going to work out? Question is OP, DO YOU LOVE HER? DO YOU WANT TO GROW OLD WITH HER? If so, marry the woman, and make her happy, let her have her day to show all her friends and family how much she's loved by you. If you can't picture being by her side when she 75 and you wanna go out and date again (which mostly SUCKS I might add), then leave her!.
Honestly, marry her or let her go. She deserves one or the other and so do you.
Make a decision and stick to it.
Good Luck!

Date a military woman?

Hi Guys and girls,
Just wondering what your thoughts are about getting serious with someone who is in the military or has a career in which they have to move a lot. Would you date someone if you knew they would have to move in 3-7 years or be gone for months at a time?

Do men react negatively when women make the first approach?

Alright. As much as men say they want women to make the first move, and it makes her look confident, I call BS on it. Maybe true on POF, but meeting men in person and showing interest is a whole different ballgame.
In my experience (single for 2 years, 26 in a few days, fit, pretty and fun), men are put off when I show interest. As much as they say a woman making the first move, or going in for the first kiss is "confident", I think it turns them off. It boosts their ego. That's why they like it. Not because it gets a girl anywhere.
I've decided that making the first move isn't the step to a lasting relationship. I'm finished with it. The old adage goes, the minute you stop looking for him, he'll find you...

If nothing happens between you two after a period of time, a real man will give up and. at most, be friends. Did you show any interest in them (and subtle hints don't count). I mean stuff like asking them out, going in for a kiss, stuff like that. I'm dying to know :)
I have expressed interest in more with both of these guys. We get a long great, laugh a lot, confide in eachother. I'm good-looking enough. They're both handsome with great bodies. I am fit, but not rock hard... Not sure what their problem is. Granted, there's probably a couple of guy friends out there wondering what MY problem is....

why do men get the bame for being bad inbed!
Posted:
4/18/2008 8:54:38 AM
Generally, women are more sensual beings. They are more sensitive to the sexually needs of men. Men have a harder time understanding the sensual needs of women. Agreed, some women don't partcipate actively in bed, but most women love to let loose in the bedroom and share the so called"work".
Foreplay is very important to good sex. Foreplay isn't nessecarily making out first, it's the interection between the couple before the sex happens. It could be a coy smile from across the room, a sensual kiss on the neck or anything that makes you want to be with that person. Those looks and touches during the day saying "I want you" are key to good sex later.
Bad sex is a woman's fault if she lets it happen. Let me explain. If a woman's not into it at that time, no matter what he does, it's not going to be good for either of them.
If a man want's to be good in bed, he must be sensitive to a woman's body. It's about turning her on, not himself. I think a lot of men don't get that. You've got to be gentle down there. Jamming your fingers up a dry pussi might get you off, but I guarantee it's only hurting her.
You turn her on, she turns you on. If him, or her are more interested in their own pleasure than their partner's, the sex is going to be bad. Good sex is the mutual pleasure of eachother, not of ourselves using our partner as a vessel.

Why is it that when I want you you don't want me and when you want me I don't want you? Why!?
Have you noticed this trend? I've been single for two years, and the only couple of guys I have serious interest in (because I've spent a considerable amount of time with them and know them), decide we're only friends. I'm attractive, independant, happy, smart...
Likewise, other men I have spent a considerable amount of time with as friends, want more, but I just can't see it.
Is it just that I haven't found the one yet, or is there some intricate game going on here? Am I just completely missing whatever it takes to start a relationship with someone I am interested in?

Any women left with body hair?
Posted:

I have alopecia which means that my body hair has all fallen out and I do not feel at all like a sheep.
I'm quite sure he was referring to those of us who do not have a condition in which our body hair falls out. I agree that this obsession with shaving or waxing everything is driven by media and porn.
I prefer smooth and hairless to big bushes of death
Was it really nessesary to be that vulgar coming someone who never has to trim or shave? I mean, bushes of death? Really.

I shave in the summer, mostly cause I'd rather not get horrified stares from people as I walk down the street. I do like my perfume, but I only wear it when I go out. I don't wear it on a daily basis. As for body wash, I have sensitive skin, so I prefer to use non-perfumed, non-coloured soap. If I'm single in the winter, I don't shave, and if I do it's cause it's getting really long... If I was in a realtionship, now that would be different, I would shave and trim year round.
As for you guys, plucking that unibrow, getting your back waxed and trimming down there... all fantastic ideas. Men are allowed to groom themselves and put there best self forward without being "gay". I don't like a man shaved down there at all. It looks weird and unmanly.

I guess I'm not the only one! I'm 25, and my past two LTR and my last to erotic dreams were with/about guys I can't stand! But the sex was amazing. What's with that?
Maybe there's something about opposites that attract physically, but mentally it just doesn't jive.

Does accepting an expensive dinner from a man obligates a woman to have sex with him?
Posted:
4/12/2008 7:24:32 AM
So, if we live in an age where men and women are equal, then why aren't more women taking men out and doing the planning, and paying? This would eliminate the entire problem of men expecting sex after paying for a meal.. It would be nice to sit back, do nothing, be picked up and taken out all on you for a change.. Atl east try it once, get rejected, and see how you feel..
I think more women than you might think are doing this. I've picked up a date and paid for our meal before. I imagine I can't be the only one...

Am I Being Unreasonable...?
Posted:

Dear Katryn,
The guy sounds like he's trying to manipulate you. I don't get a good feeling about him. He should want to meet your family, meet you and make sure you feel safe and secure. The fact that he's trying to make you feel guilty about not trusting him throws up a red flag for me. You shouldn't trust him. You've never met. He shouldn't expect you to come to his house alone. This guy is either trying to take advantage of you, or he has no idea how to treat a woman or what a healthy relationship looks like.
I know you like him. Guard your heart a little bit and keep your eyes open. If he says things that aren't logical or makes you feel bad, he's not worth the love.
You seem to have a good moral compass and common sense. He should visit you at your family's house or in a public place. Anything else is unnacceptable and dangerous.

Women are (understandably) out for the best lookers too
Posted:
4/5/2008 6:25:59 AM
This attraction thing just comes down to how a person would compliment your physical features in offspring. Personally, I find blue eyes attractive and a strong jaw, since I have brown eyes and a somewhat thicker jaw. I look for shapely male legs, since I wish mine were more defined. A great smile always wakes me swoon too. When I look at a man, I do unconciously think about what our children might look like, and if we have complimentary features or not.
So I don't think it's so black and white. I think every man or woman has an different sense of physical attraction in response to their own physical features.
As sad as it is to say it, the general 1-10 hotness ranking scale is somewhat true. If you're generally a five, depending on your personality, you could date a 3-7. If a person is average looking, I'm not sure why they'd be upset when a beautiful person turns them down. Like another woman in this thread said, You can expect what you can offer.
Sure Id love to find an extremely gorgeous buff guy who would dote on me, but I expect to find a man who has some of the features I enjoy and a personality that I could enjoy and live with long-term.
Happy Fishing!

Ok Everyone! Physical attraction affects us all! Big deal!!! Some people are shallow, others are not. Thing is, you just gotta put your best self out there. And you gotta be persistent! I've been on this site for two years, and I've made some good friends. Haven't found the one yet, but I'm still looking.
Oh and for people that think they're not good looking or whatever, try to SMILE in your pics. Do fun activities... Look happy. No one wants to date a downer. If that's the impression you give in your pics and your write up, no one's going to want to date you.
BE HAPPY, BE CONFIDENT, BE FUNNY and dates will follow!!!!!!!!
I'm average looking, but I have pics of me SMILING and doing FUN things! I try to be funny in my messages, and I get dates...
Stop blaming women and do something about yourself. Depressed boring people don't interest anyone. This thread is full of Woe Is Me. It's sickening.

Ethanol Killing the Enviroment

The benefits of ethanol are outwieghed by the losses in other environmental areas, like those fertilizer nitrates, deforestation and rising food prices. We have to find another way.

Gas prices to near or top $4 a gallon by spring, so vote for Hillary?

honestly most people care less about environment until it hits them in the wallet, and charging 10 times the value of omething just because its teaching the naughty consumer an environmental lesson, helps noone but the greedy parasite behind the cash register.
You make good point. Somehow, we the consumers need to find a way to get around our dependence on gas. By the time the gas mongers give up their fisthold, we'll all be boiling like a clueless frog in a pot.
oh and geo thermal heating is hi up ront cost , approx 15 to $20 000
This is also true, but the money you save on heating and cooling your home pays you back within three-four years. If more people opted for this handy solution to heating and cooling, more geo thermal companies would start up, and competition for consumers would drive the price of installation down. If you lived in the same geo-thermal house for 20 years, the money and energy you will have saved over your neighbor is enormous. Gas companies don't like geo thermal either. Why would they? Just like ethanol and hydrogen, geo-thermal would deeply cut into their profits if it ever got out. Subdivisions being built with geo-thermal heating and cooling is just what the global warming doctor ordered.

Gas should be two or three times it's current costs IMO. The money should be invested in research and alternative energy sources. The longer we wait, the more painful it will be.
I agree. Sooner or later we will have to find alternate sources of energy. Might as well be sooner.
Environmental issues? Such as what? What needs to be dealt with? Oil prices are negatively affected by ridiculous environmentalist like you who say NO to the nuclear option for energy, as well as opening up Alaska, the Rockies and the Gulf and off our coasts to tap into ALL OF ITS NATURAL RESOURCES (oil, coal, shale and natural gas)...and there are tons! Once that happens...the price of oil drops overnight.
Your short term capitalist answer is not the sloution, it's the problem! Environmentally and Economically speaking. Raping our lands of natural resources does not solve the long term problem of sustainable energy and development. Plus it has disaterous effects on wildlife habitat and toxic effects on land, air and water.
Economically speaking, the lower cost of oil will only come for good when we no longer depend on it so greatly to run our countries.
Has anyone ever heard oh geo-thermal heating and cooling? 15 meters under the earth is enough heat and A/C for EVERYONE. google geo thermal and find out for yourself.
Oil prices are high because those in power profit from it and make us believe it is the only way.
Using less energy is everyone's responsibilty. Use a cold water wash cycle, use long lasting, power saving light bulbs, or LED bulbs even (check 20 years....thread), uses 1.5 litre toilets instead of 5 or 7 litres, use energy saving appliances, build your next homes using geo-thermal energy systems, install a solar panel on your roof...blah blah blah... there are so many ways to save energy.
If I were American, I'd vote Hillary all the way. I think she'd make a great president for many reasons. But the bottom line is not much will change for good about oil unless the American people( and Canadian) do their share and voice thier opinions.

Health Care in Canada May Kill You
Posted:
12/29/2007 9:05:29 PM
I received a Cat scan in just over 2 weeks...
I can see a doctor at a walk-in clinic from 8 am to 9pm.. wait time is about, oh 45 minutes. I can see my own GP in a day or so. I have never had a problem getting surgery or care when I needed it, for me, or my daughter, or my father-in-law, who died of cancer at the age of 82, a few years back, after much wonderful care by his team of specialists ... including an oncologist, an internist, a heart doctor (he had had a triple bypass and also had a pacemaker), a GP, and a dietician.
I'm getting a cataract removed, no fee, in a few weeks..
Although I can see that in Ontario we don't have enough GP's, I have never had any reason to complain about the health system, in any of the provinces I have lived. B.C., Alberta and Ontario. I have always had the care I needed from competent physicians. I give credit the health system of my country for the fact that at almost 42 I am pretty darn healthy. In a country without universal health care I could have been a very ill person by now.
I agree. My grandparents have had triple bypass surgerys, back surgeries, knee surgeries, my mom had a tumor removed from her neck and was successfully treated for cervical cancer. My great grandparents all lived into their 90's thanks to our health care system. And when I cut my chin open, an emergency room doctor stitched me up.
The only health care issue that really needs to be addressed nationwide is the lack of GP's. Without a family doctor, citzens are clogging up emergency rooms with non-emergencies. Where else are they to go? Clinics may run in large cities, but in rural areas, the need for family doctors is great.

Go 20 Years Without Changing a Light Bulb

Let's all have a read on LED Technology shall we?
Understanding LED Technology
Apr 1, 2002 12:00 PM, By Joe Knisley, Senior Editorial Consultant
LEDs may be little, but new high-brightness models are producing a considerable amount of light.
First used as status and indicator lamps, and more recently in under-shelf illumination, accent lighting, and directional marking applications, high-brightness LEDs have emerged within the last six years. But only recently have they been seriously looked upon as a feasible option in general purpose lighting applications. Before you recommend or install this type of lighting system, you should understand the basic technology upon which these devices are based.
Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are solid-state devices that convert electric energy directly into light of a single color. Because they employ “cold” light generation technology, in which most of the energy is delivered in the visible spectrum, LEDs don't waste energy in the form of non-light producing heat. In comparison, most of the energy in an incandescent lamp is in the infrared (or non-visible) portion of the spectrum. As a result, both fluorescent and HID lamps produce a great deal of heat. In addition to producing cold light, LEDs:
Can be powered from a portable battery pack or even a solar array.
Can be integrated into a control system.
Are small in size and resistant to vibration and shock.
Have a very fast “on-time” (60 nsec vs 10 msec for an incandescent lamp).
Have good color resolution and present low, or no, shock hazard.
The centerpiece of a typical LED is a diode that is chip-mounted in a reflector cup and held in place by a mild steel lead frame connected to a pair of electrical wires. The entire arrangement is then encapsulated in epoxy. The diode chip is generally about 0.25 mm square. When current flows across the junction of two different materials, light is produced from within the solid crystal chip. The shape, or width, of the emitted light beam is determined by a variety of factors: the shape of the reflector cup, the size of the LED chip, the shape of the epoxy lens and the distance between the LED chip and the epoxy lens. The composition of the materials determines the wavelength and color of light. In addition to visible wavelengths, LEDs are also available in infrared wavelengths, from 830 nm to 940 nm.
The definition of “life” varies from industry to industry. The useful life for a semiconductor is defined as the calculated time for the light level to decline to 50% of its original value. For the lighting industry, the average life of a particular lamp type is the point where 50% of the lamps in a representative group have burned out. The life of an LED depends on its packaging configuration, drive current, and operating environment. A high ambient temperature greatly shortens an LED's life.
Additionally, LEDs now cover the entire light spectrum, including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white. Although colored light is useful for more creative installations, white light remains the holy grail of LED technology. Until a true white is possible, researchers have developed three ways to deliver it:
Blend the beams. This technique involves mixing the light from multiple single-color devices. (Typically red, blue, and green.) Adjusting the beams' relative intensity yields the desired color.
Provide a phosphor coating. When energized photons from a blue LED strike a phosphor coating, it will emit light as a mixture of wavelengths to produce a white color.
Create a light sandwich. Blue light from one LED device elicits orange light from an adjacent layer of a different material. The complementary colors mix to produce white. Of the three methods, the phosphor approach appears to be the most promising technology.
Another shortcoming of early LED designs was light output, so researchers have been working on several methods for increasing lumens per watt. A new “doping” technique increases light output several times over compared to earlier generations of LEDs. Other methods under development include:
Producing larger semiconductors.
Passing larger currents with better heat extraction.
Designing a different shape for the device.
Improving light conversion efficiency.
Packaging several LEDs within a single epoxy dome.
One family of LEDs may already be closer to improved light output. Devices with enlarged chips produce more light while maintaining proper heat and current management. These advances allow the units to generate 10 times to 20 times more light than standard indicator lights, making them a practical illumination source for lighting fixtures.
Before LEDs can enter the general illumination market, designers and advocates of the technology must overcome several problems, including the usual obstacles to mainstream market adoption: Industry-accepted standards must be developed and costs must be reduced. But more specific issues remain. Things like lumen-per-watt efficacy and color consistency must be improved, and reliability and lumen maintenance should be addressed. Nevertheless, LEDs are well on their way to becoming a viable lighting alternative.

Now we can all agree, LED's aren't lighting the way just yet, but they will be!

Well, all the men who are insulted by ladies night should boycott the bars, then they'll go broke on cheap drinks for the girls!
Really, I mean come on, Ladies night is good for business and it's good for meeting new people. Ladies night is for the guys, not the girls! Girls get cheap drinks, guys meet more girls, everyones happy. I don't see what the big deal is.

The Death of On-line Dating

No, it is because those other sites have had great success. The people using them found a mate and no longer need to use an online dating service, while all of the hard cases who are impossible to match up eventually wind up here.
Thanks for the laugh Tyrone! Are you one of them then? LOL

The bottom line here is that as long as wild animals are caged, tragedies like this will continue. Weather the tragedy is the death of the endangered species or the human is irrelevant.
A few posters here claim that the only protection for these species is to cage them. I disagree. Protecting these animals by caging them is not protection at all. If you were endangered and in need of protection, how would you like to be put in jail? Or worse, put in jail on display for some taunting brainless humans with a few bucks.
The only REAL way to protect endangered species is to maintain and expand their wild homes. I agree with interim confinement of endangered species for the sake of breeding and scientific research, but NOT for profit entertainment.
For God sakes. let the wild animals be wild. If there were only 500 humans left, I pray to God we could live out our days as we wished instead of being caged and poked at till the last one of us was gone.

I agree. Wild animals shouldn't be heald captive and made to jump through hoops and ride motorcycles. It's just not right. Dogs, horses, elephants even, have been domesticated. They are used to being around humans. Lions, tigers and bears oh my! Just leave them alone! Wild animals as entertainment is just plain wrong. It's too bad so many people fuel this industry with their ticket purchases.

Cutting back military forces just wrong

^^^ Which one's Non-Threatening and which ones the Friend? LOL^^^
I think the problem is not nessasarily how many troops the US has and where, but how they comport themselves, and ultimately WHY they are there. It seems to me that the US military serves other countries when and as they see fit, rarely as humanitarian/protection need arises. The US military have their own agenda when it comes to, well, everything. Many countries where the US is stationed don't even believe the States have their best interests at heart, let alone feel they should pay for the grace of their presence.
The US should be putting their military efforts into Iraq and Afghanistan. The rest of the world doesn't need their military presence (at least not the way they give it). The US feels so self important... they're just another country...they should get over themselves.
