The Sales Dept. vs. The Customer Service Dept.

Generally an interesting analogy with more than a grain of truth.
However, I am just who I am, a bit excited and eager to be accepted but terrified of humiliation (and tired of being stood up). Maybe a bit more honesty and a bit less cynicism would be helpful.
Good luck to you all !

A friend in need....what to do?
Posted:
6/3/2007 3:00:46 PM
You are not leaving your friend, you are still available to support him as a pal, emotionally, just not on the minor issue of rent. Even if your pal WEREN'T OK with your departure, you are only responsible for yourself. Its terriffic that you will continue to be pals, however. Don't let his dad dictate to you, your relationship as pals is between the two of you. His Dad means well but has no business laying a guilt trip on you.

LOL... Karrpilot I may be familiar with this behaviour.... if you hold still when he bites, although you can feel it and it may be painful, does he still break the skin? Really, I know it goes against the instinct to pull away, but try not to and report back. If he doesnt break skin (and remember how easily he could sink those lil' needles to the bone if he wanted to, and so far it sounds like he hasn't) then this is probably inappropriate play or affection display (I know, I know, it sounds crazy) but among felines this is normal and they have far tougher hides than we do. He's just never been corrected appropriately, and now after years of behaving this way, it will be a challenge to break. You can certainly reduce it by redirection... when he bites, get out the string or feather to play whith him, let him bite, chase and wrestle the string. Ditto the cat sitters, he needs social time when you're away. Good Luck!

Real Me : "Niether is condescension" ROTHF!! Right on!!
Karrpilot...oh yeh, gym class hell! I was the chubby kid who would get 2' up the climbing rope and hang there LOL! I hid from most gymnastics exercises never mind the trampoline !! On the otherhand, I played linebacker, tight end, 2nd base, tennis, sqare danceing, fencing, put the shot, even ran the mile in 9 minutes (chugging along getting lapped repeatedly ...) Sometimes all in one day !!
I've been on several, POF is a favourite but I hear nobody mentioning Cupid.com.... I love the chat room, though membership is concentrated in cities and New England. 100.00 for a year

As often as not its a dealbreaker or an "Oh NO!!" that keeps people from going ahead and contacting someone once they view a profile. Other times they wait to see what response they get from their having viewed the other persons profile.
If I had seen my ex-wife online I probably wouldn't have contacted her ( which might have been better in the long run LOL!! ) because she was an agressive daily workout fiend & semi-vegetarian, not to mention she was planning to move overseas when she finished med school. Whereas I love my ribs and wasn't then ready to consider moving overseas. I'm glad we met though, I wouldn't have missed her for the world, so you never can tell.
I avoid : Married (or prefer not to say)
No Picture (only fair, mine is posted)
Heavy Smokers & Heavy Drinkers
Lives 200+ miles away
..... (I prefer to hope to actually meet someone I can see regularly)
The (apparently ) Seriously Rich (I don't live in that world)
Gold Diggers (surprisingly, they often declare themselves openly)
....... you get the idea. Everyone's list will be different, and to some degree, may even vary with the day/mood/life circumstance of the seeker.

Memory of a short news article:
A Couple hears a man scream in the middle of the night. Going downstairs they find the patio door open but nobody there. Thankfull that their nearly blind cat was still on the cat tree by the door and not frightened away by the stranger, they call the cops. As luck would have it, they spy a suspect 2 blocks away and pick him up... and are surprised to note his face is absolutely shredded and bloody. The man confessed: In the pitch dark the blind cat had lept on his head as he entered and rotorootered his head!!
Lets hear it for Robocat!!

LOL the "L" word :) Remember though, we each Love our Mom differently than the love we feel for our pets, and every persons definition of that love and application and expression of that love is different.
And then there are those who toss the word "Love" around casually, like a frisbee, for fun. When I use the word Love to a woman, Its like tossing a cast iron Dutch Oven.. a weighty event much considered before commiting the act :)
And then there are those for whom the word "Love" has no value, not even 1/20th of a cent, like expired coupons !!

I dont get it
Posted:

I got burned so often and so bad in the 5 years after my divorce that I quit asking anyone out. I'm back in the ring now, but cautious. After several web sites being COMPLETELY fake (why would hot 20 year olds contact a 46 yr old guy with a bit of a belly and rave over how hot he is ??) one woman led me on for 6 weeks online, then says "as if I would Date YOU!!"... Sheesh! Most profiles / contactees try to get you to go to sites requiring Credit Card info (can you say "PHISH"?? Sure, I knew ya could !) ... on one site the site staff at least tried... 60% of the "people" contacting me were deleted w/in a few days of first contact... I learned to wait a week to see who was left...
Now I'm older and wiser. POF and one other site are real and I enjoy the forum threads endlessly. I suggest everyone hit a POF Party, I've really really enjoyed myself !

yes cats can be hilarious... some ofd my fave videos on Funniest Videos are cats LOL
"And now, for something completely different:
APNews Service
New Castle Ind ~ A cat helped spare a family from death by carbon monoxide poisoning by jumping on the bed and meowing wildly as fumes filled the home, owners said. Eric and Cathy Keesling said their 14 year old cat, Winnie, played a crucial role in saving their lives March 24 after a gasoline powered water pump in their basement caused the odorless but deadly gas to build up.
About 1am the domestic shorthair began nudging Cathys ear and meowing loudly. "It was like a crazy meow, almost like she was screaming" said Cathy, who hesitated to get up until Winnies caterwauling and jumping persisted. When she finally climbed from bed she realized she was nauseous and dizzy and couldn't awaken her husband. Paramedics found the couples 14 year old son, Michael unconscious on the floor near his bedroom.

I think it matters more at younger ages. The difference between 18 and 21 can be profound, but the difference between 28 and 31 probably not so much. Its a matter of life experience and maturity.

Do powerful women like to be dominated?
Posted:
5/30/2007 8:24:26 PM
I agree, dont confuse surrender with submission. For one thing, surrender is a willing giving in. Submissives are actually in control, because "safety code words" require the Dominant partner to STOP immediately when spoken by the submissive. Women are indeed powerful (I am Woman, Hear Me Roar!) and have complete power over thier own bodies, which must be respected.
However many men are also powerful, confident in their courtesy and willingness to accommodate, but sadly this is too often seen as weakness. I have enjoyed games or roles running either way, with my partners active participation. When she's not a partner in the full sense of the word, the situation is teetering on disaster.
And now my brain explodes for too much serious thinking !

Y'all should see my ex-wife.... she looks like Albert Einstien on a bad hair day, but I loved her none the less. Men do it too... but just by statistics there are 8-20 X as many men on the avg dating site as women, so yes they are in the drivers seat in that way. You can expect women to typically get more messages than comparable men and they dont know most men arent getting the same response rates so its hard for some women to be sympathetic to mens complaints about lack of responses. Personnally I can't buy the "Not Enough time" excuse... a little less TV would cure the problem, even a "thanks but you aren't my type, Good Luck" would be way prefferable to silence and wouldnt take a minute.
More importantly, how you treat others affects how you are treated. The universe deals eventually with bad acts. The universe is non-judgemental, but if you throw off negative vibes, others will throw off negative vibes in response. Space is curved and the ripples that spread from our acts eventually come back to touch us. Or in other words, Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

El Mariachi ~Agreed re treating waitstaff badly... clue to person's humanity... add to the list how they treatr other peoples kids, dogs, parents, not to mention thier own....
OMG what an awful response to the Crohns Disease revelation... I offer my sympathy... How incredibly rude of them ( or at least seriously thoughtless) to assume you would have the slightest interest in their bowel movements !!
Pazzoozoo.. my opthalmoligist tells me half the people he sees have clogged oil ducts on the leading edges of eyelids... this is why your eyes feel gritty or gunky even with eyedrops on cold dry days or windy days or bright days... solution: when bathing drape cleant washcloth over eyes, then let very warm water flow accross cloth... oil ducts will clear, and life is good! Most people are unaware they even have the problem because they are used to it and think its natural. Could cause rapid bliking I'm sure.
Rune 3 I agree too, I know when I am nervous (on a 1st date etc) I'm sure I have nervous habits I'm unaware of.

Funny thing, in my youth I enjoyed dancing. I've always carried a few extra pounds, so thats not why I've stopped. And I'm not entirely sure why I stopped. Certainly in school, when in Square Dance class, It was a new experience to be sought out as a dance partner.... 6 guys, 34 gals... and unlike some of the guys, I was actually enthused about the dancing so I really felt great!! And yet I can't really say why dancing has fallen off my "To Do" list.

yes countrysugar, this way, you know you already have somethings in common since you are in the same class together. You can see what his vibes are, is he shy or outgoing, does he like to help or is he bossy? etc
I highly recomend Sirra Club outings for similar reasons, though some local chapters are more socially oriented than others, in order to attract active members, and some chapters are more activist oriented with less in the way of social/recreational activity. Any camping, hiking, canoeing, outdoorsy, with the added advantage that when you go camping with someone you learn more about the person in a weekend than on any 3 dates, a week than in a year. Costs are minimal and usually you don't have to be a member to go on trips (called outings). (even garden clubs, though the latter will be more women than men).

Iwas ready to go to college by soph-jr summer where I hoped life would be more real. Mostly it was, but I did have a suite mate who actually went on a panty raid. (sigh)

Consider changing to family inclusive spontenaity (honey, lets all go to the park, bowling, the waterpark, the zoo, a AAA league baseball game)... look for ways to be spontaneous that neither require the kids to be elsewhere nor included, like bringing flowers, unexpected bucket from KFC, clean the bathroom / vaccuum / do dishes when she's out, I guarantee she will appreciate that form of spontenaity!!. Help with the babysitter searching (your parents, etc ) , prequalify a sitter/daycare service (don't just assume any of them are good enough, she is gonna check them out too and your relationship will flameout if she decides you can't be trusted to judge safety / quality in regards to kid care... accept the fact that kids curtail spontenaity but don't have to kill it off.

OMG.. there are so many choices..... light off the shoulder peasant blouse and swirling skirt...or nicely distorted flannel shirt, Royal Robbins Billy Goat hiking shorts....don't for get the hiking boots... wear short tight 80's hairstyle... or long french braid... a lace up leather jerkin under a basic shawl and ragged skirt, medeival looking brooch and light chain browmail, high leather thong wrap sandals... ummm.....

A friend will provide bail money...
A real friend will be sitting beside you on the jail bunk saying "Man that was fun!!"
I believe it may have been the Klingons rather than Nietzechie (spelling) who said:
"That which does not kill us, makes us stronger !!"
Also credited to the Klingons:
"Only a fool fights in a burning house !!"
And the ever popular "Today is a good day to die !!"
"Beware of the man who has no enemies" ~ annonymous
"People tend to get promoted to a level of incompetency" ~ The Peter Principle
And finally, what I plan to have printed on my next t-shirt:
"In a Democracy, the public has a right to knownot only what the government decides, but why and by what process." ~Gerald R. Ford President of the United States
