son going to iraq
Posted: 6/23/2007 10:05:51 AM
I have a son who is 17 who is heading off for 6 wks basic reserve training and then will do the same next year after grade 12 to supplement it with his military police training (he wants to be a police officer but he was told a caucasian Canadian born male needs more added to his resume or he won't get on as they need minorities but they will look at someone with military training, hence why he signed up).

Now that he has, he is talking about possibly staying with the military police and eventually travelling oversees with his job when the time comes. I don't agree with it, and my heart twinges painfully at the thought of him going, but the only thing that would keep me strong is that if you were in his shoes going over to help other countries and support your own country, you would want and need your families support, and for your family to shed a tear but not wail, for them to tell you they love you and that they will miss you but not argue and beg them to change their mind and stay.... aka family ties and unconditional love and support.

Keep Going Back...?
Posted: 6/4/2007 7:22:49 PM
Clarification for those giving advice, she broke up with him and keeps going back.
Not him breaking up with her, him dating someone else, and coming back to her.
Simple, you didn't want long term with him and wanted your single freedom, but I'm guessing the sex was good and the intimacy is familar and comforting.
It is common but shouldn't happen while either of you seeing someone.
If you are getting some you won't be looking for some, so stop it and start looking :)

Heather Crowe dead, one more killed by smokers..
Posted: 6/3/2007 4:30:43 PM
Quoted>>>> "A study released two weeks ago shows that nonsmokers who stand within 6 feet of smokers on a low wind speed day can inhale almost as much smoke as if they were a smoky room indoors - dispelling the notion that smoking outdoors reduces exposure. "

Ok THIS is a good example. If smoking even 6 ft away is that dangerous then stop producing the f**k*** things! Right now our ban is usually 4ft from any door, window or air intake. Does anyone want to tell me how much more time, energy and money the gov't wants to waste on this subject???

I am a smoker who quit 5 months ago for health and financial reasons and mostly because my son wants me too; however, I still agree smokers should have a right to do it if they want in a designated area.

Summer's New Blockbuste - the Traitor-nator

I'm not from Thailand so couldn't care less who made that comment.
One of my best friends is American.
WTF does the age of sex consent in Canada even have to do with Arnie smoking a stoggie out of his country?
Again comparing drinking (our legal 19, to your 21) would have made a better comparision was my comment!

rk... tasteless comment for Canadian bashing. You could have used drinking or buying liquor at 19 (and/or bringing it across the border) as an example.... instead you chose a a sick subject and controversial subject just a lil off the track from a cubie stogie..... ummm.... I think maybe your thoughts should start taking a new direction.<img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_201.gif border=0>

Mother in Texas - Murder Suicide with her Kids :(
Posted: 5/31/2007 4:10:13 PM
What bothers me most is that these women got off on insanity. A mother's love should be enough to drop her kids off at the nearest relatives and then do herself off if she doesn't want to live.... just because a mother brings life into the world doesn't mean she can take it back. In those circumstances mentioned in Texas, those poor kids went out of this world wondering why is mommy doing this to me. :( I feel sick to my stomach even thinking about it.

Mother in Texas - Murder Suicide with her Kids :(
Posted: 5/30/2007 7:54:23 PM
In Texas...."Authorities say Estrada apparently performed a murder-suicide this week inside her locked trailer, stringing up herself and her four girls using nooses fashioned from clothing and sashes. Her sister discovered the bodies Tuesday. The only survivor was 8-month-old Evelyn Frayre, who was named after the case worker at the shelter where her mother stayed. "... "Obviously, every client that comes into the shelter is going to have a difficult time, and at times she was sad, but she was so eager to do better for her daughters," Haro said. "There was nothing to raise a red flag to me. She would always have a smile, and she loved, loved, loved those little girls."

"The Tarrant County medical examiner's office ruled Estrada's death a suicide and the deaths of Maria Teresa Estrada, 5; Yaneth "Janet" Frayre, 3; and Magaly Frayre, 21 months, all homicides."..."Although there were indications of depression, there was no documented history of suicide attempts and no evidence of antidepressants in the home, the medical examiner's office said. There was also no suicide note."..."The child's father, Gregorio Frayre Rodriguez, went to the hospital but was not allowed to see the baby because of a protective court order issued in August after Gilberta Estrada claimed he abused her and tried to hit one of the children."

http://www.centredaily.com/news/nation/story/110813.html

^^ Someone told me about this and this is all I could find. Does anyone know anymore? No suicide note and this just seems wrong and suspicious... OMG, this is just sickening, devestating, those poor children

flouride? what's the deal
Posted: 5/29/2007 3:45:40 PM
Why add floride to our water for our teeth? Most water is used for washing things, bathing, etc, not just drinking, and then is absorbed back through the sewers into the earth. If it is good in small quantities but not large, why do that to the earth? why waste money on it going into other water uses other than drinking?

Dr. Lauras son had depictions of rape, murder and mutilation on his Myspace webpage.
Posted: 5/20/2007 9:50:07 AM
Ok had to google to even find out who she was. Says the pics were 20 years old.
Re her son, that scary crap doesn't stay up long once noticed... poof and then investigaged bigtime.

"The Pentagon last week shut down access to a variety of video-sharing and social networking Internet sites, including MySpace, on its computer systems worldwide. Officials said the change was made to enhance security and protect a strained and width, but critics worried that it might close a public window into the lives of deployed U.S. troops, some of which can be raw, frightening, violent and revealing. Top reasons for increased gas/oil prices......
Oil companies want more money.
Government want more tax money.
Resources are getting tapped unrelentlessly.
Our living styles is making our planet sick.

I would suggest letting your dates know by a couple of dates in. I would imagine like any illness, the longer you go without re-occuring the more confortable they will be. Communication is always key, knowledge calms fears and wear your scars like battle metals to show you have survived and are proud of where you are now.

And you have been in the relationship how long? If you reward her jealousy now by giving in, you'll set a precedence throughout your relationship!

Advice from a gal here, take it and don't permit controlling, you'll have no one to blame but yourself! This is where communication comes in, you both discuss where you are in the relationship and act accordingly (deleting profiles etc) only if you are on the same page.

Missing Girl - Portugal
Posted: 5/15/2007 5:54:53 PM
Quoted from the link earlier in the post.....

Relatives have flown to the Algarve to be with the couple, who were holidaying with their three children. Madeleine disappeared while her parents were at a nearby restaurant

The Ocean Club resort offered a creche service but the couple decided to leave Madeleine and two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie sleeping in the apartment. They had taken turns to return from the restaurant to check on their children. Madeleine, who turns four next Friday, was last seen by her father at about 2100 local time.

When Mrs McCann went to check on her about an hour later, she found the bedroom's outside shutter and window had been opened and her daughter missing.

* * * * *

My question is, "When Mrs. McCann went to check on her about an hour later"... an hour in between checks???? anything could have happened. I can't imagine anyone leaving 2 year old twins and a three (almost four) year old alone for an hour, sleeping or not, and what were they sleeping in to secure them.. playpens? Fingers crossed the surveillance cameras show something. Poor lil thang!!!!! :(

sobeit.... the way I read it in the article, the three kids (one was the missing lil girl and two twin 2 year olds) were left in a hotel room while the parents went to eat in the hotel restaurant). They turned down the hotel's offer for babysitting services and each parent checked in on the kids every half hour. (anyone can correct me if I misinterpreted this). No one should ever every leave young kids alone.... not even for 5 mins.

My thoughts and wishes for her safe and speedy recovery!!!!!!!!!!
But I am totally in shock that parents would leave their children unattended while they went to eat (and more so that they refused babysitting services)! That is just totally irresponsible whether it be for 30 mins or 5. People do the same thing leaving their kids in cars for 5 mins while they run in a store. Parents, please protect your children from accidents and predators... both only take a minute !!!! I will forward the link on and my prayers for her safety and the families sanity.... I can't imagine.

Folks..... it has only been a lil over month! No wonder guys say they don't want to a relationship right away, they need to slow the gals down before they latch on. Ask for monogomous and if no commitment in a couple of months then move on and in the meantime just do not get too emotionally attached, he is being honest with you upfront.

It has only been a month, go slow and don't rush it and let him make the first move to decide it is a more serious situation... but if he doesn't do this in 6 months then give him a choice and move on if he continues to want to wait. However, that being said.... make it very very clear to him that while you are willing to take it slow and will hold off on putting a label (gf, bf) on your relationship, that it must be 100% monogomous and no exceptions, and that if he decides he wants to expand his horizons he be honest with you. He obviously likes you and maybe has a history of girls rushing things, plus age is likely a factor in that too somewhat.

Someone should remind her this is a Canadian site and with so many Canucks on here, she just cut off at least half her fish mating possibilities LOL

There is a GAS STRIKE ON MAY 15
Posted: 5/6/2007 8:30:48 PM
Waiting a day or two won't make a difference because eventually you'd have to get gas just a little earlier or later, you'd have to get everyone to decide to take the bus for a week to totally wipe out a week's budgeted gas profit per person and that wouldn't work because the bus service couldn't handle the temporary increase in supply and demand for that week.

What's up with the men SNOBS anyways????
Posted: 5/5/2007 8:47:20 AM
My opinion, most people that get all worked up with they do not receive a reply back take it way too personal and may have low self esteem. Simple, just message people whose pic or profile catches your eye with a nice comment and see if they respond. If they do and it is cut and dry polite.... let it go! They don't want conversation they responded politely. Those that are interested in conversing will usually reply and make a comment about your profile to keep the conversation going. Those that don't reply means they could be players, maybe want more than a friend, maybe no attraction of your pic or interest in your profile, and could be dependant on the initial message you made... was is bland, sexy, gooshing with romance LOL I just like messaging people on interesting profiles and then I delete my message and if they reply fine, if not, no biggy. That is like someone who beats themselve coming two on a job intereview. You tried, you didn't make the cut, let it go.

Hey Clearly..... Couple of tips... soften your profile a little, shorten it a bit, cut back on a few of your current head pics (they really all look the same) and definately throw in a couple extra including some current full length pics (all head pics and the words a few extra pounds make guys wary). Also coming from me a single mom, putting that in the first paragraph (while everyone knows moms work hard and kids are their #1 priority) may scare a few guys off. All the best.. good luck !!!!
