The Teapublicans idolize a mythical St. Reagan, campaign against an Obama who doesn't exist, and at their convention have a speaker who argues with an imaginary opponent in an empty seat, pretend 8 years of their own recent history never happened, all the while promising to return the country to an age that never existed.

And claim that they are the ones dealing in "Reality".

I had a discussion with a friend of mine about what drives people to do the things they are doing. We concluded that, roughly speaking, there are two sorts of people: those who do things because they HAVE to, with their motivation being mainly the avoidance of negative consequences, and those who do things because they WANT to do them, and those people are motivated by some sort of drive to achieve something.
I am interested in what drives YOU. Personally, I think it is a whole lot better (and healthier) do be motivated by the things you DO want, rather than the things that you DO NOT want. The difference is subtle, yet significant...

I saw the Time Article and 1) WTF TIME? Are you THAT desperate for readers? Are doctors offices kicking you out? and 2) that cover picture is gonna scar that kid forever.

Now, as a man, I got no say really in how a woman chooses to breast feed, and I'm all for breast feeding in public, nothing shameful about it.

But......imho, if your kid is walking, talking has a head full of teeth, and is either in Pre-K, or getting ready for pre-k, if they're still nursing, it's mommy's issue not the child's. And she's not doing him any favors. As the article states, by that point, the child WASN'T getting much nutrition from the act, so it's a psychological issue, not a neccessary nutritional one.

At some point, children need to learn independance and to self sooth themselves. Sticking a nipple in their mouth at age 5 isn't the way to go.

Casper, it'd be a good start, but I'd go one better and trick out a Semi-trailer or one of those massive tour buses.

And instead of the missle launcher (Too many parts to go wrong), I'd either add some TOWs or Dragon launchers, or rely on things like the Swedish AT4 or American Javelins.

IrishLab, take note of the difference. When I make a mistake, I own it, and apologize for it. It's only been 20-30 years since I read up on Carters military history.

On the other hand, your side seems to be unaware of the concept of mea culpa.

there are plenty of smart, well educated women on the right...just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean they are brainless...but yes, on the attractiveness scale i'll be the first to admit that conservative female pundits tend to be more attractive and appealing then their peers on the left...personally, i found comments about hilary's wardrobe and circumference of her thighs as offensive as the comments about michelle bachman's hair... why it is that women's clothes, hair, make up, and physique are talking points in a serious discussion about policy or issues? i've yet to hear someone blabber on about joe biden's tie, or obama's lapel width...honestly, it's reallyyyyyyyyy disgusting... Part Deux, you cannot go wrong with Alan Moore. One of the best and most thoughtful writers in the genre today. He's on par with any of the literary greats, and I do not say that lightly. His choice of medium does not get the respect it deserves, and neither does he.

I challenge anyone who considers "comic books" to be kid stuff to read Moores works. He'll change your mind in three books or less.

Bard, I respectfully disagree re: Moonknight as Batman. Moonknight is mystical. Punisher is a psychotic murderer.

A more correct comparison would be Batman=Iron Man. Consider:
*Both are mega geniuses
*Both are insanely wealthy
*Both use their self named industries to equip/augment their crime fighting abilities
*Both are master hand to hand combatents Batman traveled the world learning from the worlds masters, combining them into his own style, and Stark was taught by none other than Captain America.(Not many know this about Stark, since he tends to rely on his tech, not his skill at fisticuffs, but Tony Stark recieved extensive hand to hand training from Captain America, who is arguably the greatest living master of multiple HTH combat styles.)
*Both rely heavily on technology, and Batman has often used powered armor himself.

PGL7, you're right, I fubar'd that one right out of the park. I should hvae refreshed my memory re; Carters service record. That said, he put the uniform on and served with honors. Crawling into a tube built by the lowest bidder and designed to sink takes guts. The man was no coward and no pantywaist, unlike the chickenhawks like Rmoney who slam him.

We could do an entire thread on why Desert One failed, but the bottom line is, Carter tried like hell to rescue those people.

Reagan negotiated with terrorists, made sure they spent MORE time being hostages, and rewarded the terrorists with weapons we paid for and let them get away.

I know which action I respect more.

I'll say it again. The GOP ran in 2010 on a jobs platform. They got elected on that platform. And immediately after getting elected, and until now, have YET to present a jobs bill, but instead, we've gotten 127 bills attacking women, PP, unions, teachers, cops, firefighters, and gays.

In short, instead of doing the job they claimed they wanted to do, they've done everything else, mostly attacking women.

^^^Again, for the troll above, Jimmy Carter served as a nuclear submarine captain. That takes a big pair of brass balls to do, and do well.

Likewise, ordering the assault at Desert one took stones as well, Carter knowing full well that failure would cost him his office. He scoffed at the personal risk, and went for it. And when it failed, he took the hit without complaint. That takes honor and guts.

Unlike Reagan, who cut a backdoor deal with the hostage takers, and who kept Americans imprisoned by them longer, and sold them weapons for hostages. What a hero. Barf.

Color me envious! I always thought Jack Kirby got a raw deal from Marvel.

I still draw, and love the medium, but I'm damned if I buy any often. Too expensive. I'll buy a Trade paperback now and again, but thats about it.

I did attend an event for free comic day and sold two sketches, which was a big deal for me.

I also graduated from the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. Next to Jack Kirby, Joe Kubert is a comics legend.

Obama points out that he actually got OBL, and the GOP goes apoplectic.

Bush stuffs his jumper, pretends he landed a "Fighter" jet (It wasn't), and uses an entire aircraft carrier to announce "Mission Accomplished", and the GOP not only doesn't complain about using the military for political gain, it cheers.

Procal, given the sheer amount of outright lies Zimmerman has been exposed and spewing, we don't have any reason to take his 911 calls as any indication of fact.

I would also point out another recent case where a complaintant also claimed an individual was armed, which resulted in the death of said individual. The reporting party has admitted they lied to get a faster police response time, and is now facing murder charges for his falsehoods.

Zimmerman has proven himself not credible. In any format.

HE disrespected his chain of command, his fellow marines, and everyone else in uniform. He put himself and his ridiculous views above his service and his oaths.

Respect back, but you've yet to present any actual evidence to back up your claim that Obama is anti military. Again, both the puckered up situations I mentioned, Obama handled in an exemplary fashion. If I'm wrong about this, show me how.

Reagan was a LOUSY president and screwed this nation over, and used the military to advance his agenda, nothing more.

And Ranger or not, if you ahd pulled what this exMarine did, you'd have found yourself booted out the door. The UCMJ is very clear. This guy wasn't some barracks lawyer running his yap in a generic gripe session, he went out in the public, in uniform, under the Marines name, and broke the UCMJ multiple times. He deserves not a whit of respect.

You wouldn't keep a fellow Ranger who couldn't follow the rules, and neither did the Marines.

You mean aside from a recorded pattern of behavior? Any beat cop knowing Zimmermans record of violence would treat him with extreme caution. As an Ex cop, I know how having a powerful Daddy gets you special treatment. As I remember, one of the responding officers was recorded as saying that he didn't sign up to arrest other cops kids. Kids of Judges would fall under that auspice.

And yes, it should absolutely be being investigated as to whether Zimmermans father used his political influence to get George off his multiple charges of violence.

No, I don't agree with much you have to say. I'm no fan of Obama, but he's shown himself to be more appriciative of our service thatn his predicessors. I cannot fault his tactical thinking, and to that I offer up his handling of both the Maersk Alabama hijacking, and the Bin Laden Raid. Both well run operations from the top down, and both operations that put him at great political risk had they gone FUBAR. He put the operation over politics, and for that he earned my respect.

We have the same right to gripe and grouse about the Chain of Command, as long as we do it according to regs.

Everything I've seen from Obama says he repects the military highly. The same CANNOT be said of Bush, who maybe arguably served, and his crew of war criminals who did everything the could NOT to serve. They like to play at being military tough guys, but they're just chickenhawks. Cowards.

Sorry, but what I'm hearing is you don't like Obama and you're using any excuse to slam the guy. Because what you claim about Obama doesn't pass the the facts.

As for now ex- Sgt. Stein , Screw him. This Marine had EVERY opportunity to get back in line, follow regulations, and save his career. He thought he was above the UCMJ, and even now, he got off lightly. He could very easily could ahve found himself in Leavenworth for a spell. He doesn't have balls, what he has is a big mouth and a total lack of respect for not only the rules, but for the Corps, his fellow Marines, and the military in total. He's SELFISH. It's all about what HE wants. Theres no "Semper Fi" in him. He is not worthy of our respect.

Go and read the 47 pages of 911 calls Zimmerman made, or Zimmermans arrest record of violent crimes.

For the Record, I'm a veteran too, and so are a few other folks.

You're dead WRONG on the subject of our fallen bretheren. By all means we should see the flag draped coffins coming home. It reminds the US, whic has become completely seperate from it's military, that war has a cost, and that cost isn't just tax dollars wasted. The only reason we ever STOPPED showing the fallen returning home, was because the President didn't want us to see how many flag draped coffins were actually flying in daily. Like the financial cost of the war, he was hiding the human cost. Because when Americans see their sons and daughters coming home in boxes, they start asking questions, and when the answers don't pass muster, they start demanding things like, "Stop killing our family members."

As for your claim that President Obama INVITED the scum of Westboro to protest at the funerals of the Fallen, thats such complete and utter bullshit you should be ashamed to say it. I defy you to back your claim up with facts.

War has a cost. We should never be afraid to see that cost. And maybe, especially if the jerks up on Capitol Hill had to see them, they'd be a lot less in a hurry to send them into a meat grinder based on lies.

Honestly, my dream job was always making blades. Sadly, I got hurt before I was able to really develop a business, but I'm trying to get back into it.

I've found more peace in my life while doing two things: Drawing, and Working hot steel. Mostly steel.

Dunno if this will work, but this is the first knife I've made in over a decade.

No problem at all. Things are to the point with coverups, nursing blankets, what have you, that no hint of boobage leaks out.

Cool, you might once again note, that, jsut before he murdered Martin, Zimmerman was the subject of an emergency HoA meeting, where the residents complained, before the HoA AND Sanford PD, of Zimmermans aggression and potentially violent behaviors.

Also, all of Zimmermans transgressions involved the use of uncalled for violence. He assaulted a Law Enforcement officer, a party goer, his ex girlfriend, who then got a restraining order against him, and so on.

Zimmerman has a long history of violent behavior and being charged with violent crimes, and getting off. Of course, his father being a retired Judge wouldn't have anything to do with it, would it?

Between my .22 Ruger rifle w/scope, and my .45 ACP, I'm pretty set. But just in case, I have my hand made knife, and can forge out a nice 8' pike in short order for keeping the undead at reach. That, and a recurve bow, and you pretty much have all the weapons you need.

Find a defensable position with water and sufficient food that you can store and access, like a market block full of Mom and Pop stores like a hardware store, pharmacy, and Market, preferably two story. Move in, move as much as you can upstairs, while fortifying the bottom story, then knock out the stairs so the Zombies can't get to you. Build bridges across the roofs so you can get to each building that way, and repeat the system. Knock out every stairwell, and store ladders and ropes topside.

Create a rooftop garden, raised bed style. Get out and forage you up some live chickens, and bring them up to de bug your garden. From the hardware store, bring up as much garden and topsoil you can find and cover one roof with it completely. Use it for chickens and garden.

Keep a fully fueled, diesel powered TRUCK, with a small amount of emergency supplies in it, where you can reach it at any time. LEAVE THE KEYS IN IT.

Then, settle back and survive. Spend every waking moment in weapons cleaning, fortifying your position, and creating either weapons, tools, or food production. Come winter, when the Zombies freeze solid, go out and smash every one you can find, working your way outward in a spiral pattern. Lather, rinse repeat.

CD, you are completely incorrect.

The investigating officer was all set to charge Zimmerman with a minimum of Manslaughter AT THE SCENE.
And has publically stated such.

He was over ridden by the State Attorney, Norm Wolfinger, who just HAPPENED to show up at the crime scene, apropos of nothing (I.E he wasn't called to the scene by the investigating officers) alnong with the Chief of Police. it was Wolfinger who put the kibosh on the investigation AND the charges.

Now, if, by this point, you're not asking yourself why a State Atty show up at a random shooting, would kill an invesigation that was still ongoing, hadn't done forensics, hell they hadn't even tested Zimmermans hands for gunpowder residue, in other words, hadn't completed the investigation, then, you very much should be asking. You should be asking Why he did so, who called him to the scene, and why he killed an in progress investigation.

You can't claim stand your ground if Zimmerman walked back to his vehicle and Treyvon attacked him from behind, if that actually happened. Of course thats only one senario.


The problem being, is that none of the actual evidence corresponds to Zimmermans claims. Martin was well away from the street, much less Zimmermans car when he was shot.

Martins body showed NO signs of physical combat except for the bullet hole that killed him. Nor does Zimmerman show any injuries as well. And no, the back of someones head claiming to be Zimmerman, abscent of conformation, does NOT constitute proof. Remember, Zimmerman is claiming he was beaten SO badly that he was in fear of his life and in fear of becoming a vegetable from that beating, as well as having a broken nose. As you can tell from his arraignment, theres ZERO indication of Zimmerman's nose ever being broken. Nor is there any evidence of massive head trauma to the back of his head.

You really believe that Zimmerman, who evidently spend the majority of his time patrolling the development, claims he had no idea where he was, in his own neighborhood, and had to get out of his car to see a street sign? That he couldn't see the sign through his windshield? You really want to believe such nonsense?

It's also worth noting that the ship of state (Obama) also has a fleet of tugs attached to its stern, pulling in the opposite direction. Kinda makes the turn harder.

We know the facts. Stein went full tilt teabagger, in public, online, and elsewhere. He was warned, counseled and told to knock it off. He refused. Now he's getting hammered for it, and frankly, he's getting off lightly. He deserves a Dishonorable discharge.
