Personally I'm a Bowie/Iman fan. I think they're fabulous!

Don't give up...It seems Halley gave up and she started this who thing...

I'm curious though...If there is this pent-up desire to rediscover the ancient Goddess Supreme, why is there no major movements or religious discussions. I'm sure somewhere on a campus with a womyn's studies department there is intense discussion, but in the coffee house, on the street, not much....

Thanx Watchman. The defender of physical fitness. Now add a cape to your picture and you're all set.

I agree with you about the health perspective. Remember the the thread is about honesty in weight declarartion. But you bring up a good point regarding health and size. These standards aren't chosen on an asthetic basis. They are designed around determinations of risk relative to long term wellness.

As do I.
May the Saints preserve him.

I'm a bit curious as to why Lilith was brought up in the first place. Proximity to Halloween and vampires maybe?

"If he isn't I just don't say anything"?
That's terrible. What if you like the guy and they only thing wrong is his kiss? Just gonna leave him in the dark? Maybe he's suppose to read your mind! This way he will know your silence is only about his kiss.
'Cmon.
If you like somebody, tell them the kiss great(if they do) or they kiss horribly(if they do). You won't hurt their feelings and they will become better kisser for it. Maybe better kissers for somebody else, but least you can have the satifaction that there is one less barbarian on the pavement. This goes for the girls too. My ex was a bad kisser. She refused to learn.

How a nice guy got even in the end...a POF dating story
Posted: 11/2/2004 7:07:27 AM
Amazing. You never asked if he was gainfully employed before your date? I've dated a couple of women who were "inbetween-jobs" and one of the things that was determined right away was finances.
"what do you do for a living?"
"how's that going in this economy?"
"That sounds facinating, It must be difficult to sustain an office for that kind of work?"
and so on. Get this stuff out of the way-because the truth will come out in course of discussion, then decide.
Are we done here or do we go on. Plenty of wonderful, charming, witty and enjoyable people are underemplyed if you know what I mean. Just establish a level of honesty and then look at the .99 cent menu.

Arrrgh! Wicans and Pangean Sophians!
Speculation, speculation, wishfull thinking psydo-academic musings, and oh yes, speculation.

But then again we are talking about religion. The whole purpose of which is to make a leap of faith to a system of beliefs larger than ourselves. Now it really gets interesting with archiology and hard physical evidence come into play. Is Lil the mother of man? Or a blood sucking sucubus. As I read the runes-she doesn't bode well. But then I'm just looking at all that he-man-woman-hating archiology. The REAL stuff is being suppressed. Praise Gia!

Lilith in the Bible

Lilith appears on numerous steele and roll carvings from Babylonian times. She pre-dates Gilgamesh stories. This surprizing, because she would be one of the pantheon of deities Gil would have loved to kill.
Lil's portrayal is not pleasant. She has Bird feet with nasty talons (usually holding a corpse), large wings and arms with talon-like fingers. She is naked and with big nasty pointy teeth. Grace Jones portrayed her in Vamp. Very very creepy, what a turn on-hence the cult of Lilith survives.
She is associated with child sacrifice and ritual male mutilation (castration, not circumsision). Other aspects of her personality surround fire and earthquakes according to Sumarian folklore.

She's a nasty b*itch.

Good for the "nice" guy, Boo for the big bad witch. The earlier thread spelled it out nicely.
STATE YOUR INTENTIONS. If you agree to meet for coffee. Meet for coffee. If you agree to meet be cordial and polite. If if he or she is a troglidyte. If what is presented is not what you expected. Be upfront and say so at the beginning. The worst that can happen is it ends-there-then-now. The best is that you may meet somone with character. Think outside, act decisively.

My first Russian mail order bride!

I did read your earlier thread and I understood the slam. I was relating my own encounter and it's tribulations. One thing that I did discover thru all this is that there are reputible services that set up introductions and assist in processing visa and the such. They also have an interest in shutting down the scammers and are actively working with local and US law enforcement to track them down. In some cases they have been able to recover lost funds. That is rare, but encouraging. I don't want to mention the name of the site, for conflict of interest, but you can find them easy enough. More importantly, they have a wealth of back info on current conditions in the CIS. Yes some of it is bad, some people really want to leave yesterday. After Nov.2 and Bush is re-elected, you'll see the same here.

In my case, her name was Nadezhda. And the calamity was Beslan, although she lived in Alekseevka, Samarskoiya, near Khazhakstan and was hundreds of miles away. She was not only attractive but with fair english and a good hearted nature. Unfortunately, the address she gave was bogus. The small care package I sent came back after 6 weeks with the russian equivilant of NSP. I was heartbroken.

~ Friday's Survey On Kissing ~

Women enjoy kissing, they'll kiss any good looking fool. If you want romantic, gone with the wind, sensual kissing. Keep reading those pulp novels. Young men are being driven by way too much pornography. Laugh it up, but how many of your boyfriends keep some porno around? The odd magazine, the stretched out video tape? This is because 1) they don't see their parents engage in affectionate/sensual behavior. 2) they have not received proper instruction on delivering affectionate/sensual stimulation.

Our first lessons in human behavior come from watching our parents. If mom and dad fight, we fight. We settle all our differences with arguments or worse-violence. If mom and dad are distant from each other or uncommunicative, we become aloof, disconnected or worse-indifferent. However, even if mom and dad are not perfect, but communicate effectively with positive reinforcement, then we have a good chance at doing the same. If mom and dad hugged alot or took time to kiss and compliment each other, these actions would be passed on just like the bad, as proper behavior attitudes. For the past 25 years there has been very disturbing trend in families-The dual income household-This has erroded huge amounts of time and vitality from couples. The first casualty is intimacy, the second is courtesty, the final victim are offspring. Young men and women growing up then apply these depreciated attitude in courtship with unsatisfactory results. Thus driving some to abstain from contact or reject out right and some to consume pornographic concepts of desire as self gratifiing.

Solutions-Talk with your partner. Ask them what they want. If you are not asked what you want, before you engage, state your preferences. Look any man can be a great kisser if he knows what to do and is willing to learn. Any woman can get incredible stimulation and satisfaction from kissing if she takes the time to instruct. If you want the good stuff-say so. If you want the good stuff from someone who is incapable of instruction, you will be dissapointed and that's your fault. Men, slow down. Women like to be chased this true, they also like doing the chasing as well. If you treat her like a blow-up doll right out of the gate, don't expect a second date.

HEY GUYS! Don't go for the tongue, lips and headlights right away. Kiss her eyebrows-lightly. First one then the other. Gently brush back her hair with your hand and a light busk on her cheek near her ear. It's slower and encourages her to be more assertive. The slobering is much sexier when you both want to do it.

Do any guys actually get a lot of messages on here?
Posted: 11/1/2004 2:09:14 PM
Yes and No.

Duh.

Let's start with No. Men get few replies and messages because of reasons stated by women like ktbaby949.
..."they have all been from men that are about 20 years older then me or they were just perverts who have nothing better to do but email girls disguesting mail". This is a simplification that unfortunately is all too true. I know because I am guilty of this as well. There are tons of attractive young ladies that appeal to me for various reasons other than their age. Contrary to the actions of the minority of my brothers in e-dating, I read the profiles and respond to those that have common interests. I'll be first to admit I want a beautiful young woman on my arm or play the role of Svengali. The point here is perception by women about men and vise visa. ****LADIES****THERE IS A WONDERFUL FILTER ON THIS SITE WHICH PREVENTS THE OLD GUYS FROM GETTING THRU. if this is your main problem USE IT. Alot of women, new to this e-dating-whatever this is communication, do not review or apply all the tools available. Then they complain about being "harrased", word gets out among others and then the neophytes shut up or shutdown. No one benefits.
Perception by men-****LADIES****IF YOU DON'T WANT ATTENTION FROM PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF YOUR AREA, INTEREST OR GENDER...SAY SO! Better yet, DON'T POST A PICTURE UNTIL YOU ARE SATIFIED WITH THE CONTENT OF COMMUNICATION. Here is another sad truism, men act on what they see. We are visual creatures. This is not say we are stupid or genitalia driven, that sells us short (no-pun). We are creatures by composition to be REACTIVE. Proaction on the part of women, limits our reactive ability and allows us to better focus our desires, intentions and discourse. WHEN WOMEN FAIL TO ANNOUNCE THEIR INTENTIONS OPENLY, THEY LEAVE US WITH NO CLEAR GOAL. Men will then either shutup/shutdown or respond in less than positive ways. The less positve reaction is one borne of frustration and resentment.

For myself, I spelled out my interests and attractions quite clearly. I researched for women that fit my criteria as close as possible, e-mailed all (about 8). Received 4 replies. That's 50% return-that's unsually high. One reply admonished me for setting limits. She was politically correct (which I detest) but articulate. I e-mailed her back and suggested that for her I would make an execption to my rules because I enjoyed her arguments. She responded with "good luck in your search for a trophy". I found that to be incredible that she would take more time to argue with me than to ignore me. The second reply was good but has come to a stand still same with #3. However #4 has been quite intriguing and shows a great deal of promise, if for nothing else a great person to talk with who I have common interest. We have exchanged about 25 e-mails so far. That's a 300% return, do the math.

What is the point?*****STATE YOUR INTENTIONS CLEARLY*****Don't say "hanging out" when you want a date, don't say "Intimate Encounter" when you want a shoulder to cry on. Think about what you are saying about yourself when you post your profile***LADIES-KEEP IT SIMPLE*** If you want a guy to be your girlfriend say so, please. P.S. 'Match' com sucks alot more. It provides disinterested people at great cost.

the dude is growing a shine and the dudettes are growing some jowls. It's called aging. It sucks. It's a battle no one wil win. Look at poor Diana Rigg (then and now), Terri Garr, Nick Nolte, Maron Brando, yikes.
Not all are blessed to go on like Tina Turner, Sean Connery or Gloria Estefan or the bucke to ensure we maintain. Good mature physical appearence takes work and attitude, Jack Nicholson in point.
Women are just as guilty as men at passing judgement based on appearence. The bit that gets my whities tightie is when I took the time to be honest and state clearly my preferences, which is is still a constitutional right, I was reamed a new one by a lady who posted "slim details" regarding her own physique. I sent her a "hello" because other aspects of her personality were appealling and I was willing to overlook my boundaries for the chance at something special. Her loss.

Why do men get suckered into mail order brides?
Because they appeal to basic need for stability. Men's lives today are built around punching a clock and going to work. We wake, we excrete, we consume, we toil, we consume, we excrete, we vegitate, we collapse into fatigue, we wake-repeat. Unfortunately more and more Western women are doing the exact same thing. This does not bode well in a relationship, let alone to leave anything for rewarding a relationship. These "women" appeal to that lost era when men were valued as hunters-gathers, leaders and lords.

I use the term "women", because the vast majoirty of these scamers are men, and more often than not, they are based here in the USA. This is an FBI statistic, look it up.

Nice Guys VS Bad Boys!
Posted: 10/23/2004 1:35:51 PM
I agree with you that modern men have subjugated their masculinity. This has been an on going problem for men ever since the mid-70's and the growth of various "liberation" movements. Just as an aside, NONE of these liberation movements have truely liberated the genders they "represent" nor have they espoused equal liberation for their counterparts. What has happened has been a gradual "enslavement" of one sex over the other via gender/sex orientation legalistic power plays. It's very real in all levels of politics and business and will be the ultimate downfall of any traditional sense of societal values.

Case in point, look at the astronomical increase in unwed mothers and absentee fathers. Deadbeat dads, middle aged men who "become-discover" they are gay, multipule divorces and of course various adictive/abuse behaviors. These stem from the lack of positive replicatable male role models. Who wants to emulate Bill Clinton, Dr. Phil or Alan Alda? Unfortunately, when in comes to "nice guys" this is what men have been denegrated, by themselves and others, into: passive/agressive go-alongs. Some might scoff at my listing of Bill Clinton as one of these, but consider this: When caught he continued denial, he passed blame onto others for his failings, he "nit-picked" for an excuse, he collapsed under pressure from his spouse. Sure he looked like a "bad boy" but to whom? Had he shown some initial courage and owned up to his failings at the beginning, he would have reinforced a masculine image that says "I F'ed, it was my fault. I am truely sorry(he would have to be sincere), I've learned a valuable lesson and Let's move on" He was incapable of this because he had NO male role model whatsoever, let alone a positive one. This is the future for alot of young men coming up in the world. It is very tragic.
