I take it you always have to have the last word? And speaking of "old posts" I first posted my response back in June where you followed me with your own post 2 days later. Why did you not respond a month ago that you didn't agree with my post.....

And that is why I did what I did proving you right.....
But ......
So by printing what I had told you means what???....That you are a woman and you want to be proven right?
Well as an excuse that is inadequate, but as an explanation that is ample.
....uncalled for since I admitted you were right....

William Julius Lederer (born March 31, 1912) was an American author, US Naval Academy graduate in 1936, and Cold warrior. His first appointment was as the junior officer of a river gunboat on the Yangtze River.
His best selling work, 1958's The Ugly American, was one of several novels co-written with Eugene Burdick. Disillusioned with the style and substance of America's diplomatic efforts in Southeast Asia, Lederer and Burdick openly sought to demonstrate their belief that American officials and civilians could make a substantial difference in Southeast Asian politics if they were willing to learn local languages, follow local customs and employ regional military tactics. However, if American policy makers continued to ignore the logic behind these lessons, Southeast Asia would fall under Soviet or Chinese Communist influence.
In A Nation of Sheep, Lederer identified intelligence failures in Asia. In "Government by Misinformation" he investiages the sources he believes lead to American foreign policy:
Trusted local officials.
Local (foreign) newspapers, magazines, books, radio broadcasts, etc.
Paid local informers.
Personal observations by U.S. officials.
American journalists.
Other works were intended to be light-hearted and humorous fantasies. His early work, Ensign O'Toole and Me is both.

William Lederer rose to the rank of Navy Captain. The source for this is his own statement in Our Own Worst Enemy discussing being assigned as a Special Assistant to Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet. (pg 54, W.W. Norton & Company, Inc, 1968).
An interesting piece of history contained in Our Own Worst Enemy is the story of a young Navy Lieutenant, Junior Grade having a chance meeting in 1940 with a Jesuit priest, Father Pierre Cogny, and his Vietnamese assistant, "Mr. Nguyen," while waiting out a Japanese bombing raid in China. Father Pierre asked William Lederer if he had a copy of the Declaration of Independence on his gunboat. He said yes, and invited the two men to accompany him back to the river boat. A copy was provided to these men. It turns out "Mr. Nguyen" later adopted an alias that he became more commonly known by, Ho Chi Minh. The Declaration of Independence for Vietnam (1945)[1] contains much of the very same language that the American Declaration of Independence contains.

Crazy English
An Excerpt from the Introduction
by Richard Lederer
[Many of these are mere wordplay, but several are linguistic anomalies. One interesting thing the author doesn't note is that in English one tells a lie, but the truth. Try explaining that to a six-year-old. -ojo]
Let’s face it: English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant or ham in hamburger, neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins were not invented in England or french fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies, while sweetbreads, which aren’t sweet, are meat.
We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that writers write, but fingers don’t fing, grocers don’t groce, and hammers don’t ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn’t the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So, one moose, 2 meese? One index, two indices? Is cheese the plural of choose?
If teachers taught, why didn’t preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? Park on driveways and drive on parkways?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? How can the weather be hot as hell one day an cold as hell another?
When a house burns up, it burns down. You fill in a form by filling it out and an alarm clock goes off by going on.
When the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible. And why, when I wind up my watch, I start it, but when I wind up this essay, I end it?
Now I know why I flunked my English. It’s not my fault; the silly language doesn’t quite know whether it’s coming or going.

Allan....I did read it...and I did "troll" around...You said you would give credit where credit is due......
.....Go head and trace it back to where ever or who ever posted it and Ill give credit...
I was pointing out where the original credit is due...If you had done your research like you should have in the first place the Forum Police won't have to keep reminding you .... but from what I have read of your posting's over the last year.... this is not the first time that plagarism has been used...so to avoid any further policing from "trolls" do your homework...

Getting back to what the OP said.... Allan 1960.... the plagiarsized statement regarding English is a crazy language......what you wrote is from an excerp from "Anguished English" by William J. Lederer. So the next time you want to fool people on the forums and con people with your so called intellegence you might want to try a little thing called ..."Google".

I have been asking myself that same question...but then I realized I have to ask myself the question first... 'cause if I am noticing the same people then those people are noticing me....Calli, Captain, Baba, EEEKKK, Momimatrix, Cooky, Paddy O Furniture, etc, etc, etc...
I wish we were ALL retired...but I'm sure not!!!! Gotta get back to the old grind stone of looking out my offfice window
me to understand the addicition of it all...

Seriously...
1- I would change the fact that I left my husband for another man back in 1993.
2- Would have gone to medical school
3-Been there more for my parents
Wow this has really opened up the thought process for the day

Baba, sweetie, you make a good point and I stand corrected on my comment regarding a "waste" of time. No relationship is a waste of time, because no matter if it is a GF/BF/FWB/Husband/Wife/ Lover/ Mom/Dad/ Sibling/ you always learn something or many things from the experience of having a relationship with that one special person.

How to say Goodbye
Posted:

Oh Honey 7 years is long enough. I made the mistake of a 14 year relationship that ended last year. It truly was going no where but to the dump. It just took 14 years to take my head out of my butt and realize that. Relationships are supposed to grow and become better with age. If your realtionship is not growing after 7 years it never will. Don't waste another 7 years like did. But none of us here on the POF forums can tell you what to do...you will always follow your heart no matter how much it might hurt and how wrong you know it is for you. None of us can make the decision for you. But here are some questions to ask yourself...
are you happy with yourself?
are you happy being with him?
do you truly see yourself with this man 30...50....years from now?
do you know with out a doubt that he will take care of you?
do you find yourself looking for ways to pick a fight?
do you find yourself avoiding him? or screening calls not to talk with him?
would you die for him?
would he die for you?
Food for thought....sorry everyone if I got to morbid.

out4awalk...I assume you mean the two questions from the orginal thread author?
{Do you prefer to date someone that is a native to CA or a non native? Would it be a hinderance or a plus if they are one or the other?}
I have never found it to be a hinderance to date any one outside of my state. It just might be a plus....different perspective and all....

My husband (now ex) made me sell it for our bed. $600.00 s---t

Everyone here makes a really good point. And, I think that we all have thought the same way some time or another. So please bare with me if I repeat things...
1 -Don't let your heart fall on the first date...
2- Beware of men who have you meet the kids on the second, third, fourth, fifth and forever after that dates...
3- MUST get a thick skin. Rejection over and over again can be harmful to one's
self-esteem...
4- It is all in fun...
5- The forums can be hysterical....read "BABA " if you don't believe me...
6- You get what you pay for...
7- Always meet in public...
8- Remember that "Rome was not built in a day" (thou that is hard to remember)
9- Have no expectations...
10 - Go For It...

Hey Bryant,
I have done both...had the list and then simply catch the eye. I really think that it does depend upon the person. Lists may work on one person and then not on another person. But the question is who do you use the List on and who do you don't use the list on? I used the list at the end of last year....wrong!!!!! I didn't use the List this year and we have been together since Feb...so you never know!
I don't know ........very thought provoking question.

Profile pet peeves
Posted:
4/6/2007 9:41:29 AM
I am picking this up from message 12...but I would like to add on number 6....
Some of these may have already been mentioned, but I'll chime in with my pet peeves.
1.) Shirtless pictures. They scream the message, "I'm looking for sex."
2.) Bad spelling, punctuation, and grammar. An occasional typo or misspelling of a commonly misspelled word doesn't bother me, but when the whole profile is full of text message shorthand and run-on sentences with no capitals, it looks adolescent to me.
3.) An arrogant screen name or opening line: something like "God's gift to women," "Your dream come true," or whatever.
4.) Information not filled out; full of "I'll tell you later."
And probably the biggest pet peeve I've ever come across:
5.) A man demands that the woman he seeks be slender, especially offensive when he himself is no twig. I've even seen some that put in their profile something like "Fatties need not apply." How rude.
6.) Self photos taken in the bathroom reflected from the mirror.

I have dated American Indian, African American, Mexican, no Asian tho (at least not yet)...my current is Iranian...must be his passionate ways and his mathmatical brain of course his runners body doesn't hurt.

Just wondering how many of you have recognized someone here on this site around your town? Someone that you have chatted with for awhile and you see them in the grocery store, department store, restaurant, or just out and about and they don’t recognize you or they do recognize you! I “spotted” four Plenty of Fishers in South Pasadena all in one week. Funny!

How long before you speak to someone on the phone?

From reading this forum it is obvious that there are many of us out there or here that are thinking the same thing...so why is it so difficult to get the message across that asking for or giving out the phone number in nano seconds is not a good thing.

You rock on Lyndsey with your bad self. It amazes me what people on this site will complain about and harp on.
But, I digress, this forum is about makeup, not bashing poeple. Little makeup is best...just a few highlights and shades to bring out the natual beauty of someone is best.
But applying makeup correctly is an art form which has to be learned, I think.

My I add my two cents....when I travel for work and end up in a differnt time zone I take 6 mg of Melatonin a half hour before I go to bed. Really seems to help. Good Luck!

Too Big Daddy Jim......you are so right..... it truly is a shame that the art of communication via writting/letter is going by the waste side.
