United States Education - Not State by State Education

try coming to texas and seeing the after math of no child left behind.
this translates to dumb the system down to the point anyone with a pulse can pass.
and since we are grinding axes, since when do we "save tax dollars" by having a class room set of books. my child has 3 pre AP classes this semester in HS and has a "book" for one of the classes.
public education, meh. as bad as i distrust anything federally ran, it cant be worse than this.

Men may cry when forced to watch the chick flicks. That might be what confuses some people
exactly, ever heard of "bored to tears?"

Do the Political Parties ruin people who want to serve with good intentions?

anderson, nader, perot, all had impacts.
perot pretty much handed the election to clinton, by spliting the conservatives.
independants, have made impacts.
But more to your point, conventional candidates have had to pander to the money, not all of us are billionaires.
I dont believe its possible to control influence via contributions/ethics, too many ways to skirt the rules.
However, in a world where google sells at $400.00 per share, how effective to TV/radio marketing? IMHO, blogers, and sites, email campaigns, and these are tools that could be of great benefit to an independant with the "good intentions" and the savy to use it.
these tools scare the hell out of the 2 parties.
Might be nice to have an independant president, Its not like we are getting a helluva lot done with the present system. I wonder how much fire the electorial college would come under in that scenario.
