Just accept that if a man has never been married by the age of 45, why should he even want to consider tying the knot ? Or is that my own attitude slipping out after 20 years of my life spent in an intollerable marriage LOL ..... Seriously I've dated two gentlemen, one of which is 51 and never married, the other 56, married for 2 years a long time ago. Neither one of them will ever marry. They will end their days on earth as "single men" but with a woman by their side. They are very content bachelors who have their homes, lifes, toys ... oh yea if you don't have kids in college, you get boy toys. ..... They are not emotionally incapable of being intiment.

Playing it SAFE.. Would you consider having a life time partner that you knew you could never love.
Posted:
9/20/2008 12:35:00 PM
lol - never! why settle, I would much rather have the love of my life ~~ sweetie 'op' you are in your late 20's - don't settle - your youth disappears too fast .... you will find yourself 40 and miserable if you don't have the love. I was married for 20 + years - have 2 wonderful children. I believe we both "played it safe" as you refer to it, and now for the last 4 years - living my life how I choose. . . . and the love doesn't have to be a man - love yourself and find what you love in life! Get out there.
I love living alone. I travel almost every other week on business - and squeeze in the sites and pleasure... I would never settle again in my life. Loveless relationships do not work.
BTW - I did have the love of my life before my marriage - and we still communicate ~~ just live in two different worlds. But we can't undo what transpired 20 years ago...
Life is short - live it as if there is no tomorrow ~

Sandy send me the info - i will reserve a cabin as well.
I go tubing (rafting every year) but normally get out and have reservations at the hotel. Camping is out - I need the bed and bath and hot tub to chill afterwards.
Please send me the details.

Sunny you jumped in here - are we thinking the same again ... LOL
Dancecard - are you and Sunny together??? Was it you I met at a party with her in FW ?? - Is that how you accidently posted as her ? ... Guess what now my posts don't even carry over my pic since i updated it - this is weird...
I agree with the ^ gentleman above Sunny, and his comedian quote. However this can apply to men as well. Just when I think I have them figured out they go and change the rules as well. LOL.... I am decisive in what I'm looking for ...Intelligence, charisma, strength of character, a zest for life, inquisitiveness, independence, individuality, common sense, humour, tolerance and sexual chemistry. Someone who can think for themselves, who's not afraid to stand up and fight for what they believe in. Someone I can trust implicitly, who I can talk to about anything. Someone who understands me, who knows what I'm thinking almost as well as I do and who is considerate of my needs without pandering to my wants. Someone who can stand up to me and not let me get my own way all the time.
LOL... I suppose I should be thankful if I could find someone who will put up with me.
Does anyone get it ??? Relationships develop over-time and with that comes total understanding or lack of...
So funny that while reading this thread I discovered two of my "fav's" have written on here and I totally agree with both men.

At what point does sex become something unique?
Posted:

TraveltheWorld ... I was responding to the comment about
When it is considered illegal in more than one southern state.
Texas is the largest Southern State - however I had to joke about the dear State of Arkansas, i.e., referred to in the south as Clinton Country - ..... was trying to get the politics in there LOL, just the State and the jokes thereabouts.....
Perhaps it is still sunny in Cally this evening - have another beer on me. And don't forget to change your clocks back one hour.
An extra hour for the unique sex.... Isn't all sex unique?

Does everyone really feel that the South is full of kissen cousins ? LOL - Perhaps "clinton country"; but I wouldn't say Texas.
On subject: "when does sex become something unique?" When your partner or yourself comes up with something new and exciting... Oh yea.... I just can't put it into writing how great it can be.

Ladies when reading an email from someone new?
Posted:
11/2/2007 7:57:02 PM
I usually read the profile before i open the mail - this gives me perspective of who is writing. Today I received one that just commented on my 2 a.m. muffins - a one liner and the guy was 10 years younger, so yes I deleted it. I respond to 10 years older, but not younger. My personal preference. Oh, and the favorites thing. I used to be on about 40 + favorites. One day I just thought about it and removed myself. Just one of my mood days. I've added men to my favorites if read their profiles and I think we might have something in common. I kinda think on it for a few days or weeks .... see if they contact me. I'm not really goood at contcting them. Then I remove them from my favorites. It works sometimes, they do write. We email back and forth and then the phone call. That will tell you right away if you or him want to meet. I don't look at the headings - I don't add the fish thingy on mine. Everyone seems to be a dolphin..... Has anyone noticed that ???? I guess I'm just not fishing - if something catches my eye - I look, otherwise I'm here for the forums. And I do read people's profiles that post on the forums. It's great to meet others from all over the world and see their point of view, etc.
Good luck with your fishing.... I think my fishing spot ran out of good fish.... same 'ol fish for the past year ... thus FORMUMS

Oh where is my southern man tonight ??? I'll bake him 2 a.m. muffins ....
Today I rode out southwest of Ft. Worth and away from the City. It was so nice to see all the pick-up trucks and men with their cowboy hats. The Southern Accent seems to get thicker the further out of town I travel.... gotta love Texas.

Any tips on what women prefer to hear when they are contacted?

The answer to the above is - it depends on how you present it; LOL.
How about just being "you" - honest... talk about whatever it is that you wish, then if the woman doesn't wanna here it, move on.
I don't think anyone in this stage of the game wants to play the game - if you get my drift.

Earl, I was just being honest. We don't gossip, but when men, or women lie on their profile - it does come out. I've seen dear friends get hurt by a gentleman we met on the forums. I will not disclose the ways nor the names -
The thing is Women want honesty. Sorry you are too afraid to communicate.
If you think we just sit around and gossip - well, my apologies, I didn't write the post correctly.
I hate to see anyone hurt... financially, mentally, or whatever.
I respect the other ladies friendship and definitely will not disclose anything.
However, hopefully the non gentlemen who took her for a ride to the bank will realize he won't be taking other ladies there.
That's all. And I was trying to be polite and nice to you with my comment above.

Earl - you are absolutely WRONG...... at least for myself and the other ladies i've met and share phone calls with from the forums -
I will tell ya'll a little secret... we do share info on the men we have met or had realtionships with. We don't disclose on this site - but if you lie on here and then let it out in a dating situation... it will get around.
Do the men share phone calls outside of POF?
I'm happy to say I've met women from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and also throughout the world.
Just curious about the men .... Do you guys make friends with each other ?

To answer the gentleman above - I didn't realize those were a cut and paste from POF email site - funny.
I agree to disagree with POF.... They are just trying to advise those who don't know how to start a conversation .. perhaps.
Oh and the pic bit - well i have one super guy i write to that does not have a pic - i met him on the forums. In fact I just finished writing an extensive email to him. We live across the great State of Texas from each other - but have become friends.
I have also met others that do not have pics - but if you both find an interest ... I've had them actually give me their work #s, and web sites - some of them are well to do and have their pictures on their work site. Or they will send to you in an email outside of this site.
I tend to prefer getting to know someone via email and the forums before disclosing anything really personal, such as phone #, other email, employment, etc.
On SUBJECT: I do not like to be IM'd and have been for sexual encounters. Thus I turned my IM off. That cooled the heals of the creeps out there. Also, when a lady receives an email, I tend to read the person's profile first who sent it. Then I open the email. That gives me headsup as to what type of person is sending the mail. I respond to all, except the pervs. Do you guys get those from women ???? One liners asking for a BJ (or that they will give one) ... you know what I mean. Just curious.
I myself - delete and block those people.
Each to their own.
Have a wonderful beautiful Saturday!

I agree with the lady above - leave the sex out of the conversation - and don't IM with sexual content either -

I closed the door on a relationship
never to open again
I'm making the right decisions now...
The memories I have will always be
but they have taught me
thus I chose to close the door now not later
This memory won't be so painful, I can always bring it back up.
Not like others that I'd sooner forget.
I'll always remember the first sparkle in his eyes
His lips on mine
His hands .. my hands...
how gentle, how warm, now hot, now exploding
I can still smell him on my clothes.
Can he smell my perfume on his pillow or I on his clothing
I needed this relationship, it had been so long since i had felt that way.
It was as if we were in our 20's again, making mad passionate love.
Holding each other throughout the night.... and then again, and again.
Sat outside and looked at the stars. Took a dip in the pool.
Getting close again felt wonderful. Sharing our thoughts, dreams, history.
After one year..... it's over. But I don't regret any of it.
For once in my life I've made the right decision. At the right time.
Memories that I can go forward with and remember ... not forget.

WHY??
Posted:
10/7/2007 10:12:32 AM
It's fabulous weather to go riding. I loved it in my 20's and still do today. I even have a girl friend who joined a bikers club and goes on rides. She just has to have a man around to pick the thing up at red lights when she lets it fall. LOL
However, on the other hand check out how many men post their pics with their bikes. I asked one about it - is it a mid life crisis ???? He replied, no it's just that now in life he can afford to endulge in such and loves it. So I think there are men that use it to replace a small penis and other's that truly get off riding them for fun. ROGL, ROGL, ROGL

Whats with women that invite their dogs into the bedroom to sleep?
Posted:
9/29/2007 3:14:02 PM
K9 - love your pics of the dogs in the bluebonnets - I used to have two wonderful dogs, a doberman and a wymeranger (sp) - loved them both dearly ... just like my children. This was before i had kids. I loved these two until the day they went to dog heaven. Now that my children are grown, I have the shelty that grew up with the children ... yep she is still here... and now a new mixed boxer/pit that my dear son brought home. Now this dog, whom i named "ralph"... has many problems. He turns in circles to the right, has seizers, special diet. They said he would only live a year... guess what a lotta love and attention he is still here. he will always be a pup. Cutest looks... very special animal. Someone had thrown him out in the rain and traffic and my son couldn't resist bringing him home. My Shelty acts like she is Ralph's mom. Totally cracks me up. But he is keeping her young, running around the back yard, playing, and when they sleep together it is such a site.
I know there has to be some men out there that have a heart for animals. Pets also provide an unconditional love. You can also share all your secrets with them and hopefully they won't tell anyone... LOL
Cheers to our pets!

The illusion of online dating
Posted:
9/29/2007 2:36:04 PM
the online dating thing has faded after one year on here. It has enlightened me... I've met men who have done nothing but on line dating, and as stated above in other posts, some live on various dating sites. I get invites from friends on here to join othere sites... I don't have the time. I spend so much time on the computer at work that i don't like to even check my email ... I enjoy the forums. Only one of the men i've met on here is a true friend and has been for almost a year. The guy just doesn't want to get caught. he hides behind this screen. Won't even meet the ladies. I've had friends contact me and ask why he won't respond to their emails. I've given up trying to hook him up with my friends. I believe some people just aren't ever going to let the brick wall down enough to trust again. Especially after being hurt so badly.
I think I've become the same way. My brick wall stands tall. I feel safe behind the internet. No one can get in, unless I choose to invite them in to my world. I only share my private email or cell with my friends.
I don't want to put down this site as i have made good friends here. But I do not cling to it thinking I'm going to meet the love of my life either.

Sweetie - take it from one who has dated a guy for about a year off and on... if they are still on here fishing - don't fool yourself thinking you can have a relationship. There are so many players on here, some will even admit that they are on many sites and have done internet dating for 10 years. OMG was it out there 10 years ago. Can you tell I'm in a beaaacchheee mood tonight?
I'm sure the men can speak of women players as well.....
Real funny when you leave the guys home after spending the week-end and he calls you to make sure you get home alright. you get on line for the forums and since he is on your favorites - you can see the date and time he logged on... When you see he is on line at the same time he is calling you - and he doesn't do the forums, and his roses never get to your inbox ... you have to ask yourself the question.... Is there any hope for a relationship here ???? I think not - thus - you move on.

I agree with the guy way up on page one. Thank you ...
HAS ANYBODY ELSE NOTICED... that there a few guys who are so mental themselves that they have nothing better to do but start threads here bashing most of the opposite sex as loony and mental cases???

I'm here to find the last love of my life. A lady can dream right ????????????????
So far all i've found is ways to block IM from the sexmongers and always read the profile before even opening the email - you may just choose to "delete"....
On the other side - there are very nice, wonderful people on here. Oh and I have two wonderful friends I hang out with from here...... So it's all good !!!

Is kissing more or less important to you in a relationship as you get older?

I love kissing! Very important - I don't care what age you are. And speaking from a lady over 50 - the men in their 50's can and do make you feel like you are 20 something and in that first love relationship.... So yes the kiss is important. A soft kiss to the passonate one! I love them.

I'm a city girl ... what's a gecko - is that the pic on the insurance commercial - I'd freek if I found one around here. I see little ones but not big ones. Oh we do have armadillos here. They come up from the creek. I had one in my garage with her babies.... My son threw a blanket over the mama and took it back down to that creek....
ducks and pickup trucks ... i'm into that, but spiders and Sunny's barn in the morning... no thank you. I'll hit the barn and go for a ride after she has her hired man clean the stall out. LOL.....

How long have you been doing on line dating?

butter girl - i get it
They still say that there are 5 men to every woman here. But there is only 1 man to every 5 women worth consideration. Do you know what I mean?
thank you..
and i love the ladies post above, Tess....
Can I steal that thought and add it to my profile ???
The flip side of the coin is that for those of us who "have been out here for awhile" giving our true number of years to prospective partners can cause them to view (judge) us as several things: 1) too picky 2) too independent 3) still carrying baggage 4) having trust issues 5) not really trying anymore 6) socially inept 7) let themselves go 8) mental problems 9) married ... and that's just to name a few!
I need therapy....
are the forums theraputic enough for us wiser ladies ?
