Getting ready (together) for the Holidays

My sweetie and I were talking on the phone last Saturday morning, missing each other soooo ... I said “come and get me we can sneak in an extra week together before Christmas if you take me to do my Christmas shopping.” … hehehe
Our original plans were for us to spend time at his house right after Christmas for New Years Eve and an extended stay but … that just seemed too far away.
He said ... ”I’m on my way” Of course, that meant a 6 hour round-trip drive for him! A pleasant 3 hour ride for me. What a guy!
When I arrived, he didn’t have anything that even resembles Christmas in his house!!!! How can it be Christmas without at least a tree? Well, that problem was remedied the next day. First, I hung his Christmas cards above the living room picture window. Then, we got a tree ... but, but … a new problem quickly became evident: No stand.
Have you ever put up a tree with no stand? Fun! Get out the Duct Tape, it’s good for everything -- it worked for McGyver … right?
Well . . . that night, while snuggling just before falling asleep, there was a “little” crash. Who knew duct tape would not hold a Christmas tree up, eh? Could be that was why he was laughing so hard while I was setting it up??
Oh, there was also a little living room rearrangement action in there, too. The comment about that was in question format: “Moving in already?”
Anyone else like a fancy oatmeal mix for breakfast every morning? I’m learning to like it and might be willing to send the recipe. But, be advised: It also makes excellent glue for Christmas ornaments and even helped temporarily hold the tree up in a container. It’s healthy, though, right? Supposed to be, anyway, and the raisins are!
Oh . . . and have you ever had an older neighbor lady in an elevator listen to your “discussion” and think you must have been married for a long, long time?? Yep, she was getting a big kick out of us and commented on our banter, stating just that, while laughing.
I still had shopping to do for the grandkids and he promised to take me to a few places in the city. That was interesting! We both shop fast, but I’m not as into “speed” shopping like he is. I found long-haired white Himalayan kittens for just $900 but he was not overly amused. He didn’t want a water frog, either -- but my grandsons would have. Speaking of the grandkids, he suggested dueling remote-controlled helicopters, which we bought. That’s going to be a treat in the living room Christmas day, I imagine. . . . But, there is no doubt the young boys will like them. While showing me how his works, I was surprised how much damage those little things can do to Christmas tree ornaments. (sigh) This time the oatmeal didn’t work and crazy-glue was needed. . . .
Funny thing . . . our shopping slowed down to nothing when he noticed the special “massage oil for couples” corner! Let’s just say that he purchased a bag full of stuff there and leave it at that. . . .
Our dinner tonight will include lots of leeks, but that was mostly my idea. He calls them “large green onions.” Yum, leek soup -- with lots of extra onions and bacon with Swiss cheese toasted on top. He’s cooking I’m repairing ornaments, wrapping gifts and hiding his dratted helicopters and wondering what other toys he has in the back of the closet!
This is only Wednesday -- my fourth day here. There are four days to go, this trip, and more shopping to do… so stay tuned for the next adventure in togetherness land.

quoting OP....
At this stage of life there is no such thing as a long term relationship.
Where there's love there sure is.and we're doing it long distance, some of the time! We've found "When there's a will, there's a way" to make it work!
Right now we're sitting together.. after I had a spur of the moment idea for him to come pick me up and take me home to spend a early Christmas week together instead of waiting for New Years Eve.
quoting Msg 185....
I don't feel that way. I think we can have it all.
I sure am one happy gal that you felt that way!

Is sex as important to you as it once was?

It wasn’t before, for many years.
However . . . ahem . . . circumstances changed.
Um....ahem...

"So, alright, I’ll admit it: I just happened to be paying attention at the right time and got lucky because she was interested in me, too. It happens. "
How very lucky this gal is that he was paying attention! I wasn't activly looking for anything and happened to get the best of everything...How lucky can one person get!!
I'm sure finding out!!
