Would you date a cop?
Posted: 10/31/2008 11:04:23 PM
doing something illegal you don't want her to find out about? I stay
, so I'd really have no qualms about it. You're asking yourself the wrong question.
Instead of asking if you're willing to date a cop, you should be asking yourself if you're willing to date her. The answer might be a lot easier to find then.

vegan/vegetarians
Posted: 10/29/2008 8:55:37 PM
I'm a long time Vegetarian. I get a lot of very similar questions like do I eat chicken or fish. I'll get remarks like 'oh thats not healthy, my friend got really sick'. C'mon a 23 year old who has been vegetarian since he was 9 knows a little more than some 14 y/o girl that stops eating meat to lose weight.
Vegetarianism is healthier than eating meat when proper diet is maintained. It is better for the enviroment and, I believe, the economy.
I still socialize with people whom eat meat, just as I hang out with people from different cultural, religious or political backgrounds.

choice ^_^
I'm picky. I've been out on a number of dates, both from online and traditional methods. I just can't seem to locate someone I actually want to be around for any significant period of time in a serious way.

My old poem... Chances.. Any good?
Posted: 10/29/2008 11:18:44 AM
without scorn:
try some basic editing: are'nt should be aren't, dont should be don't
generally speaking in formal writing (and poetry IS formal writing) contractions unless specifically chosen are in bad taste.
I question the over use of ellipses "..."
if poetry is personal than asking 'is it good' doesn't really float as valid.
would a poetry compilation ever feature this? probably not, but not all poetry is for that.
when analyzing poetry there are some basic questions to ask.
what is it about?
how this this shown?
so what? (why does it matter?)
your poem is about pain, its shown through direct language, but it doesn't really grab at 'so what' which, in my opinion is a very important part.

Strangest thing you've ever caught yourself saying
Posted: 9/29/2008 7:58:43 PM
As a teenager living at home, my mother once overheard me cursing while alone in my room. I'd been playing guitar with my watch on and it caused a string to break. Not having a replacement I grabbed my keys to head out to buy a new one.
When I exited the room car keys in hand my mother enquired as to the incident.
"I broke my g-string"

Your Pet or YourRelationship?
Posted: 9/28/2008 3:58:53 PM
I love pets, don't get me wrong. I grew up with everything from a family dog (a husky) to ferrets, snakes, birds, cats, turtles and the occasional spider.
I like nice things. My car, furniture, clothes, rugs, and shoes are all expensive and well maintained. I keep my house clean and organized. Pets tend to destroy things, whether through hair, urine, chewing, slobber, scratching, or other bad smells and stains that cannot be removed.
I cannot stand to live in a house heavily populated by pets. Fish? cool. Birds? fine, but other little non-caged pets that wander a house drive me nuts. My family home (the one belonging to my parents and siblings) has 2 dogs, 3 cats, 5 turtles, and a variety of other short lived pets. This house cannot despite best efforts ever be kept clean. the carpets smell, the hardwood floors are covered with scratches and gouges the furniture is chewed apart and no article of clothing is safe, no shoes can be kept un-boxed, every door in the house is always closed and everything is covered in hair.
Cats? Dogs? house like a barn? I'll pass, and this from a member of p.e.t.a. I love animals; I just don't want to live with them.

good point, I was a bit lazy with some of it, too much 'net lingo on the brain. I didn't open up the age range because of personal preference, through I am mature for my age I'm not looking for the seriousness that might go with a relationship with a 30 y/o.

Tree, or Bush, or naked lady?

Anyone remember those little grass plants, and the guessing game? Was it just my school that was so boring that students had to play with grass?
The little ditty in the title was the best part...it was always bush anyway. Like playing paper rock scissors but only having rocks.... then marbles came along.
What are some of the weirdest childhood games you used to play?

Cars, boats, motorcycles <- not high on the list of common interests with women
Music - Who doesn't like music? This is on par with saying "I like to have fun." what kind of music. Rock, country, blues, jazz. List the ones you like.
Try adding a few more interests, if you don't have any more, name something you'd like to do.

I have some song lyrics, and fun things on my profile to break up the monotony of talking about myself. I was kinda trying to show what I was like rather just tell what I'm like. does it come off as being playful or is it distracting? I don't have ADD but I think I might come off that way.

Please Review, Any Advice Welcome
Posted: 9/28/2008 1:13:11 PM
Your profile is very short, and you have a limited number of interests listed. instead of listing "etc" fill out what 'etc' is. Separate roller blading/biking with a comma so that when someone searches "biking" you'll come up.
Several grammatical errors in your profile stand out to me. The period '.' is your friend. I know you and comma ',' seem pretty tight, but its time to chill with complete sentences more often.
right off the bat:
Well, going to be 20 in December, grew up in the country, I'm generally a shy person and usually pretty reserved when I first meet people, but that can change quickly.
Separate this into sentences and add some subjects.
Complete sentences = subject + predicate.
"Well,
I'm
going to be 20 in December.(period)
I
grew up in the country.(period) "
very basic errors like this can turn smarter girls right off. Why? because whats the most important part of a healthy relationship...you guessed it communication.

Seems to me, as a modern youth, that you may be an old fashioned women. To an old fashioned man, that might not be a bad thing; in fact, it might be exactly what 'he' is looking for.
Your profile certainly stands out against numerous ones that I've read. I agree with some of the comments: removing redundancies, making the profile less dense, but I don't think removing large pieces of information is a very good idea. Perhaps instead of placing the whole poem make reference to it. An interested man may just know the poem or even search for it online.

Would you reject someone because of something in their profile?
Posted: 9/26/2008 8:51:10 PM
It would have to be something really outrageous to make me pass over someone.
"I really want to be a vampire, if there are any out there please come turn me"
"I'm looking to get married right away, I already have a house located on my Mormon ranch"
"I'm a liberal"
something like: I don't like wine, I dislike cats, I'm very attached to my hobby of taxonomy
, isn't likely to really strike me as a negative trait, just something else about a person.
and I drink wine like an Irish man raised in Paris.

Worst Dates!
Posted: 9/26/2008 6:52:03 PM
I was approached by a women downtown. She had overheard me talking to a shop person and felt I was an interesting guy. Though she wasn't a girl I would have approached, I was impressed by her bravado and accepted her invitation for drinks. A few days later when we meet she starts to tell me about this course she's been taking. She paid $500 for a 6 week course to learn how to be more assertive.
this of course was my first red flag, but then she goes on the talk about the course like shes in a commercial. I really felt like she was trying to recruit me into some creepy cult. She kept telling me I should look into taking the course myself, she just wouldn't take no for an answer.
Finally she reveals that she has trouble asserting herself, which seemed strange because SHE approached ME. Here's the kicker, she tells me that a few days ago just before we met the course had set a homework assignment - you guessed it- approach a total stranger and initiate a conversation.
So I'm a homework assignment, thanks I feel great.
Good luck with your course!

throwing 'Love' around
Posted: 9/26/2008 6:14:55 PM
After a few dates the girl starts the throw around the "I love you's" though the tone is light and joking, mush like platonic friends would say it, it still enough to make a person uncomfortable. Question: is their a better way to deal with than what I've come up with?
1. ignore it, maybe she'll get the hint (or it'll get worse)
2. Say it back while mimicking her tone
3. nip it in the bud - Let her know it bothers "we aren't there yet"
4. pull aside one of her friends so that she can drop the hint.
obviously run and hide is not a viable, or mature, option so please avoid popping in to say 'run away' a la "Monty Python"

How many guys will wait until marriage for sex?
Posted: 9/11/2008 8:05:49 PM
Wow, I can't believe the responses this question has brought. I would hope that if I ran into someone I felt was a life partner, or at least was capable of being so, I would have the strength and courage to wait. There is a lot more to relationships than sex.
that being said I would likely run into times of great frustration, in more ways then one, but I don't think that given the right person that it would become a major issue.
lastly guys, c'mon have a little respect even if you don't agree. Listen to yourselves, is this how you seriously think? No sex on the first date and you don't call her back? Honestly, get tested bro, it might be about to fall off.
Finally to OP: respect yourself if this is a decision that's important to you, hang on to it. Don't let some idiot convince you that you're being prude, or ignorant, that no guy will want you if you don't have sex or that you'll have to end up with some religious nut to actually get a husband. There are a lot of patient guys out there that realize sex is just ONE way to express feelings and develop intimacy.

they'll hurt you and desert you
well they'll take your soul if you let them
oh yeah don't you let them."

most likely he found your profile because he was on this site. furthermore, if he's attacking you for this, he'll likely attack you for anything else you do: he's searching for a reason to attack you. like you said it's none of his business what you do. Try not to let it bother you. unless, of course, he brings this opinion up with your kids then please warn me as to where you are and where he is, so I can be at least 500 miles from the path of destruction.

'Love', like most things, is lost most often when it is held either too tightly or to loosely.
From a Philosophical stand point:
"what is this 'Love' you speak of and can it actually be 'held'?"

resistance training - reducing soreness?
Posted: 4/29/2007 5:53:01 PM
how would i reduce the eccentric portion of the exercises you recommended for me?
'eccentric' is the lowering portion of the execerise. when your muscle relaxes with the weight on it. really then only way to reduce this is with a partner to remove the weight or with a hydraulic resistance system which simply inhibits movements.

Favorite Einstein Quotes:
I'll start with a few about love...
"No, this trick won't work...How on earth are you ever going to explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love?"
"Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love."
and lastly this one because it is awesome
"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."

resistance training - reducing soreness?
Posted: 3/5/2007 5:27:38 PM
any health food store or nutrition centre should have it GNC for example.
chances are unless your trying for massive muscle gains (like a body builder) you might just be lifting too heavy of a weight. Over training, as its often called, can actually reduce muscle growth and make fat reduction harder.
secondly, make sure your lifting form is correct.

Why do hot girls never give a chance to an average looking guy?
Posted: 3/5/2007 5:07:59 PM
what a cop out!
Its such typical response to a beautiful women..."she gets by on her looks and must be stupid." clearly you never get past the breasts on the newspaper centre fold. 90% of those women would kick my ass in jeopardy. degrees in bio-chemistry, and chemical engineering.
the horrible truth is that beautiful, intelligent, kind women, are looking for handsome, intelligent, kind men. so if you can't get a beautiful, intelligent, kind women that's probably because you don't measure up.
I would also just like to add that I think all women are beautiful.

Is oral sex cheating?

anything physical that more then a friendly kiss. I lived in quebec and a kiss on the mouth, without tounge, was nothing. I would be be hurt and angry with anyform of deception including any inappropriate internet chat. it's really the thought that counts, right? if you don't want to be commited, be in an open relationship or none at all.
