Wow, this thread is funny! I can't believe some of you have really met people that do these things!! For me, it's answering a cell phone at the table. Maybe it was "the rescue" call, you know, "rescue me from this bad date", but none the less, very rude.

yes. We all do it, men as well as women. I still occasionally window shop, but I don't write to anyone much anymore because no one is interested. I guess I am "discontinued" merchandise. I wish there were some POF get-togethers closer to Daytona. It seems that everything is very far away :(

I agree with Aprincelyfrog on this one. But maybe I am confusing meeting someone for the first time with an actual "date". For the first meeting, which I do not consider to be a "date", I prefer a cup of coffee or iced tea in a small place where both parties can talk and decide if they even want to see each other again or meet and go for a walk or something. Call me a cheap date I guess but that way no one feels any pressure if it doesn't work out to meet again. JP

Hey everyone, I finally made it down here!!!! I have not had computer access for a while, but I am back on line and ready to ride! Anyone have a particular date in mind? Saturday or Sunday better for most? Thanks JohninFla for the welcome! EZ4U Bruce has offered up a boat and camping...that sounds like fun also! SMoho, I should be free to ride most weekends. Janet

I posted a reply yesterday but I don't see it showing up here... Anyway, Harleyultra, I'd be happy if you want to help get this thing going. Orlando is only an hour from Daytona right? Those of us who live near Daytona could meet and ride over to meet those that are in Orlando. How far is Tampa from Orlando? If it is a long way, then maybe the next ride could be planned to meet halfway to there. I am open to suggestions here! How about setting a date in February? I will be moved in early January but need to get settled in a bit I think. (though it's been 3 weeks since I have been able to get my bike out and I am getting a bit cranky! LOL) Janet

I was thinking of trying to get one organized in February. Does that work for everyone? I am willing to go to Orlando or whereever the group wants to go. Tampa is what, 3 hrs from Orlando? Those of us that are located near Daytona could meet and head to Orlando and meet up with anyone from there that wants to go. Let's figure out a date so we can plan...I am excited! Janet

Thanks for the responses everyone! I don't know the area so I'll need someone who does to plan the route. We can pick a Saturday or Sunday and set a date. Whick day works best for most people? What about a date in Feb.? I am thinking before bike week. Maybe by that time Deadline will have his bike! JP

I don't see any organized POF motorcycle rides. I am moving from Ohio to the Daytona area and hoping to find folks to ride with. Here in Ohio, there was a POF ride organized once a month through the summer. The way it worked was, a date was set, fishies signed up. Anyone (mainly women) who wanted to ride but didn't have a bike would contact the guys who had signed up to see if they would take a passenger. This wasn't a "date", this was just a fun get together. We rode usually 150 miles or so. Had a couple of stops along the way. Sometimes the ride was to and from a campground so anyone could stay and party all night. We had 20-30 bikes signed up for most rides. If anyone is interested, please let me know. freebird

You might try looking at a different age group of women if you are looking to settle down. You have your range at 25-45. Most 20-30 yr. olds that I have known are not quite ready to settle down. They are still trying to figure out what they want. Women in their 40's are tired of the drama and games and more likely to be looking for long term.

I can relate to what most of the women are saying and I feel the need to add my 2 cents worth... I know that this site does actually work for some people. I have 2 friends who have met their current mates via POF. I however, had not had much luck. Last year I finally hid my profile. I was simply tired of trying. In the previous year I had met (for coffee) several men, all but one of which looked nothing like their photo's. Most of the pictures appeared to be 5-10 years old based on their looks in person. The final one I had asked outright prior to meeting if he looked like his picture. He assured me that he did. Well, he did NOT. I, too, looked better at 35 than I do now, but I must be honest and realistic! The only conclusion I can come up with is that people think they still look like those pictures. And I would rather have a man tell me he isn't interested than just not bother to write at all. Or they write a few times then vanish into cyber space. And that goes both ways.

I have been to Kingwood via Rt.50, nice ride. It would have to be an entire weekend for me since I am so danged far away from everything.

This is a reply to Kasie's post about wanting her own bike : That's why I have my own bike. I don't have to worry about getting a ride. Take the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) safety course. Best weekend and $25 you'll spend if you really want to learn to ride. And don't tell me all the classes are full....you just keep showing up every Friday night there is a class until you get in. They take walk-ins to fill the no-show's places. J

Jeff, If you think bugs hurt your forehead, just think how bad the pavement would hurt your forehead..... Ever been hit in the face by a rock thrown from the tire of the vehicle in front of you? I have, right between the eyes. Thank God the faceshield on my helmet deflected it. There you have my plug for helmets. Ride safe everyone and watch out for everyone else cause they ain't watchin out for us!!
