For anyone whos used the Nicotine patch
Posted: 12/6/2008 10:11:27 PM
If you have smoked for years its normal to still have cravings for a cig.
The upside is that after a couple days some of that will subside. Tough it out for a few days, try the coffee stir stick thing or anything that you can use to keep your mouth occupied other than a cig. Kojak used to use lollipops ...lol
I found it easy to go to the health club and work up a sweat when I felt a strong craving.
The gum is horrible, dont even try it.

Wellness Programs and Employers

In case anyone is wondering, I do pay for my Healthcare.
And I agree that the ones who do nothing should pay more. However, I am doing plenty on a regular basis and dont think its the right of my employer to tell me otherwise.
Credits for gym memberships and discounts for healthy people are not even being offerred but I have heard of it from other people's situations/employers. Not the case in my situation.

why do you people assume im in bad health?
I am not in bad health and get regular physicals and everything is fine.
What I do have a problem with is my employer telling me that what Im doing isnt good enough and then adding some repeat tests that are required of this program and not picking up the tab.
I still think its a load of crap to tell people if they dont do it they will lose their healthcare altogether in 2009.

Paying a higher premium for those that do smoke , i understand . Bonuses for Gym memberships i understand too.
But why Blackmail people with something they already have? Participate or lose your Healthcare for 2009?
Am I really that far off here people?

Just in case you were wondering, I was in the military. I expect that the military would have such requirements and they did, as they should.
For a private entity 3rd party to tell me im not taking care of myself up to their standards...Im sorry... Its an invasion of privacy. My healthcare is my choice, not theirs.

See, thats the thing, it has nothing to do with my insurance company and everything to do with the employer wanting to cut costs for their portion of the premium.
One could also make the argument that they are looking for a reason to get rid of people at risk for health issues, but the damn 3rd party "Wellness co" insulates them from any liability to an extent. State Laws regarding wellness programs are sketchy at best as far as i can tell right now, im still looking into it.
If you talk to the "wellness company" it is a 100% voluntary thing ....however ... the employer is mandating it by playing "blackmail" , with the insurance for 2009.
After 17 years of service with this company, im turning to the headhunters looking for companies with more level headed policies.
This frustrates the hell out of me.

Wellness Programs and Employers

Just recently I received a letter from my employer stating that our current, voluntary Wellness program is being made "Mandatory" for all employees.
They also state in this letter that if we do not comply and participate by Setember 30, 2008, that we will lose our healthcare benefits entirely for 2009.
Looking at the paperwork from the Wellness company, it still says its "Voluntary".
Can an employer use such tactics as Blackmail with people's healthcare now?
Im all for wellness and healthy living, however I dont think its any business of my employer or a "Wellness Coordinator" that happens to be 1000 miles away. It should remain up to me and my physician in my opinion.
They also say that no info will be shared with the employer... but an "aggregate report" of how many people are at risk for health issues will be sent to them.
Anyone well versed in this area care to chime in? Have any of you experienced something like this ?
I feel it is a gross invasion of privacy and personal rights.
I take good care of myself and dont need some freak with a clipboard 1000 miles away telling me my necksize is too big for my height, or that I should only eat 4 ounces of this or that in a given sitting.

#2 but dont pay for insurance, send it certified mail just to piss her off further.
She will have to get off her butt and go to the post office to get her 2 bucks!
You are not wrong with not offering to pay, she asked for your company.

When you die, where would you like to be buried? Or does it matter?
Posted: 5/29/2008 1:15:09 PM
When Im dead, cremate me, why waste space on a graveyard plot? I'll be dead, not like I have to hang around and occupy a hole in the ground!
As far as who shows up to the funeral...again...who cares! Not like I will be able to tell who's there ....again...I'll be dead!

Best & Worst Sports Announcers...
Posted: 5/27/2008 8:49:26 AM
Cannot Stand: Joe Morgan-ESPN-(racist jerk), Jonny Miller-ESPN, (Fat Jerk who says nothing relative to the game)
Darrin Jackson (Hawk's Turd) & Ken "the Hawk" Harrelson. (White sox baseball) If I have to hear "He gone! or Can-o-Corn or You can put it on the board....YES!" one more time, I think Im gonna Puke!
Marv Albert - Back biting whacko? YESSSSSH! - enough said.
Better announcers to me: Steve Stone, Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse, Bob Brenly, Len Kasper, Mark Grace and a bunch of others ... I forget the name of the guy for the Dodgers, he is good too.

What can i do with Bacon fat?
Posted: 5/23/2008 2:16:53 PM
You need to watch Emeril. If you did you would already know that "Pork Fat Rules"!
Save it to cook with or freeze it in a can so its solid and toss it out in the trash.
Pouring it down a drain will only lead to stinky, clogged drains and is not recommended.

Question for apartment dwelling guitar players
Posted: 3/12/2008 3:22:46 AM
The next time you hear your neighbors wife "howling" in a fit of passion, call the cops on them in the middle of the night , see how they like it!
Other than that, just be smart about the time of day that you rehearse or play guitar.
You are using headphones so I cant immagine that they are hearing much unless the walls are so thin its feeding back thru their surround sound or something.
Neighbors that cry Wolfe rather than talk to you directly make me ...
Good luck

Bells Palsy
Posted: 3/11/2008 11:59:20 PM
All I can really say about it is that Ive experienced something very similar.
It did subside after several weeks.
I would suggest seeing a good Neurologist. Do not leave this to the General Practitioner or family doctor.

Constant Dizziness/Shaking
Posted: 2/24/2008 11:08:35 PM
I would suggest getting a Blood Pressure monitor for home and you can test yourself when you feel dizzy and record and track the numbers for follow up with doctor.
Also get blood sugars checked.
High or low BP can make you dizzy same with sugars. Do the dizzy spells come after you eat something?
Id also see another doctor for a second opinion.

Best cardio machine
Posted: 2/24/2008 11:02:10 PM
For Cardio I prefer an Eliptical. Burns calories quickly and gets the heart rate up.
Something similar would be a NordicTrac x-country ski machine.
Both offer a great cardio workout that uses the whole body.

Getting an MS Diagnosis
Posted: 2/17/2008 11:16:52 PM
First off , not any doctor can diagnose MS. You need to be seeing a Neurologist.
Secondly, there are many tests for MS which include MRI of the brain, spinal cord, or even a spinal tap.
If you have some General Practitioner talking about MS... My suggestion would be go see a Dr that deals with it on a regular basis....A Neurologist. Dont Jump to conclusions yet.

Whick one of you made the choice in taking a step backwards to "a friendship" after you had a relationship? The reason I ask is, in that situation someone always compromises and wants more but has to keep it repressed. Ive been in this situation before...
Anyway, either way, friends or a couple, his behavior is unacceptable...state your position and if the child like behavior continues ...I say walk and tell him to get a life and grow up...

Transgender washrooms?? Are they needed?
Posted: 3/27/2007 7:26:37 PM
Heres a funny post!!
Personally I dont think they need their own bathroom. I have to draw a line in the sand here. If they are between Genders, its THEIR issue. Not my problem!
I have actually been standing at a urinal in a public mens room and what I thought was a woman walked in and stood at the urinal beside the one I was using and proceeded to do his/her/it's thing!!!
The hardest thing was keeping my composure and still having to pee at the same time next to a guy with "a great big set of hooters" !!! lol lol

Is Al Gore a Hypocrite?
Posted: 3/26/2007 5:09:42 PM
Wasn't it once said that Al Gore owned a piece of an oil refinery in TN???
The 30 grand in utility bills doesnt suprise me but what the hell is he doing about Global Warming Globally besides making a movie and more money to pay said utility bills?
I understand Global Warming, but why Are the americans the only group guilted by Al Gore ??
There are 6 more Continents that do nothing if at all about global warming.
Do you think the Mid east is worried? The pacific rim where the heaviest population is ? What are Russia and Europe doing about it?
Why does Gore and his constituents make it America's responsibility all the time when there are so many other countries and continents involved???
We are already the worlds cop and welfare system, not to mention the #1 exporter of Jobs to India and Mexico now we need to be the Global Janitor too??? Thanks alot NAFTA. Oh wait , "slick Willie C." drove that train wreck!
