Just because someone chooses to dress conservative doesn't mean that they "lack confidence".

Are women marketable after age 30?
Posted: 7/26/2007 9:11:02 PM
When I was in my 20's, I used to be attracted to the older women. But now that I'm in my 50's, it's seems that I'm more attracted to the younger ones. Just a matter of preference.

As we all get older it seems that men become more selective, since men are the agressers. I still haven't seen women become agressive yet by asking men out. So I don't see much happening among the men and women that I know.

Hey SillyGoose, I'm just curious. How many guys have you asked out and payed for the date, in your lifetime? Is it anywhere near the number of guys that have asked you out? So should guys sit and wait for the women to ask them out? So far, I haven't run into alot of women that are willing to excercise their right to "ask" men out on a date. I wonder why that is???

Well, I'm tired of dating CHEAP women, who feel that the guy should pay for everything, just because he's a guy. That's why when I go out with someone I clearify that we're JUST FRIENDS first. This way everything is split and no one feels used. It works great for me!

Paying on Dates
Posted: 2/6/2007 10:19:56 PM
This can be a complex situation. "I feel whoever does the asking, should pay for the date". This is an irrational statement, because there is an assumption that both sexes ask the opposite sex out at the same rate.Since that doesn't happen, the man pays for 95+% of the dates. Usually I've heard this statement voiced by women because they know that it's a fixed argument! It's like me saying that, "I feel that the one that wears the makeup should pay for the date". See,----- how many guys wear makeup---not many, therefore the statement is automatically bias in favor toward one sex. Women use this argument because they know that it's biased in their favor. I've had to correct many women through the years for trying to argue that point with me. In all of the years that I've been single, I've only had two women, that I can remember, ask me out on a date, and pay for it. Yet, I've asked many women through the years. I've asked women, that if they met someone they liked, would they ask them out? Most said that they would NEVER ask a guy out for a date. Some said that they were too shy. Very few said "yes".
So bottom line is--if women asked men out on dates at the same rate that men ask women, then "the person that asks should pay", becomes rational.

Smiley99, Don't worry about whether a girl is interested or not. If she SHOWS an interest than fine. If you're not sure, move on. Don't waste your time, effort, money trying to figure her out. I've learned that from years of experience. Good Luck

ME- "you may find many good moral values in a church along with superstitions and a dislike for atheists."
YOU- "Not in the church my wife takes them to. These are good people who don't fit the image of intolerant Christian that you seem to have been scarred by. You should stop stereotyping people.....gonna get you in trouble some day."
How can you make such a broad statement like this, as if you approached every person at this church and asked each one how they feel about atheists. I don't think so. Especially since you don't go to church. Now you're stereotyping without basis! As far as stereotyping, everyone does it to a point. Example: If you saw a man with a knife in his hand walking straight at you. You may stereotype him as a person that may cause you harm(because most people walking straight at you with a knife in their hand, probably DO want to hurt you), so you would probably try to avoid him. So stereo typing is not a bad thing. It sounds like you have a narrow minded view of christians. You need to get out more.
ME- "If you talk to the average christian, they TEND to feel that atheists are evil."
YOU- "Ridiculous statement. At worst they want to "spread their gospel" to us a little too much....but I know many, many Christians who are aware of my atheism and none thinks I'm "evil"...again w/ the stereotypes.......what's with you? You're too old to pigeonhole people like that."
You misunderstood me again! I never said that the christians that know you, think you are evil. I have many christian friends and they don't think I'm evil. But, I've asked many christians how they feel about atheists(they didn't know I was atheist)and EVERY one I asked said that they felt that atheists are evil. Then I asked them if they have ever met an atheist. Every one of them said "No". Again, you need to get out more.
ME- "Your children could have learned the same good moral values within an atheistic environment."
YOU- "They do....from me......do you think because I let them go to church that I have excused myself from that part of parenting?"
If you are teaching them good moral values at home then what is the value of them going to church? Since your wife is teaching them fiction through the church, I feel that you, as a good atheistic father, should teach them about superstitions at the same time, otherwise what they learn in church, they will think is real. Me- "You never answered the question about, if you would have insisted that your children be raised athiest, whether your wife would have married you or not."
YOU- "It never came up and i've never asked her. But my guess is yes. Sorry.....I figured you understood that it wasn't an issue if we were discussing how the kids would be raised before we were even married."
Now, you're assuming(your starting to sound like me,lol). I would be curious as to what her answer would have been before you were married. It wouldn't matter asking her now because she's in a safe position now. Saying "NO" now, probably would not have the same inpact as it would have before you were married. And saying "YES" would be a good safe answer at this point in time. It would avoid a potential big problem.
The most important thing is that the whole family seems to be content with the whole arrangement. If it works for you and your family--then it's the right thing to do!
HAVE A GOOD DAY! Rob

My first statement about kids being brought up in the church tend to stay in the church-means that at least 51% of kids being brought up in the church tend to stay in the church. You missunderstood my question. The key word being"tend"--meaning that there are exceptions. This is from my own experience growing up in a christian family and knowing many others who grew up in christian families. I am basing my statements on the odds. So my statements may be incorrect in YOUR situation.
As far as good moral values being taught to your daughters in a church atmosphere---you may find many good moral values in a church along with superstitions and a dislike for atheists. When I attended church, years ago, the term "atheist", was never used in a positive way in church. If you talk to the average christian, they TEND to feel that atheists are evil. Yet the average christian doesn't even know an atheist personally! Where do you think they were taught this? Your children could have learned the same good moral values within an atheistic environment.
You are correct about me making assumptions because of your wife being a christian. Again I'm betting the odds based on my experience with christians. There are always acception!
You never answered the question about, if you would have insisted that your children be raised athiest, whether your wife would have married you or not. You did say that you both discussed it in great detail but I didn't get a "yes" or "no" out of it. Have a good day!

Caviliar 1968- I had two questions. Would your wife have married you if you would have insisted that your children be raised atheist? Yet,I would guess that she insisted that the children be raised as christians. Why not raise one daughter as christian and one as atheist?

Cavalier1968-I don't understand why your wife is raising your daughters as christians if you're atheist? Do you really feel that by the time your daughters are in their teens that they will be unbiased enough to NOT select religion as a way of life? If you were to have raised your daughters without religion until their teens then they could have made a rational decision on which direction to believe. In bringing kids up within the church, they tend to stay within the church because they were taught that there IS a god. If you were to raised them as an Atheist, then they wouldn't be asking you why you don't go to church. They would be asking your wife why she goes to church! Just my thoughts.
