Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween)
Posted: 11/1/2009 4:51:43 PM
Best Halloween in years. If you get a chance and have a chapter in your area go for a Beginning Experience retreat weekend. These retreats help people divorced, widowed or separated. If they are anything like my chapter the bonus is socials with a bunch of singles who are trying to get things straight and support each other sometimes on a daily basis.

Anyway for the theme of the post. We had 100+ for our Halloween costume party, live band, good times. After spending a weekend together everyone feels comfortable and safe. Female, male or whatever (at least last night) if you want to dance you don't even have to ask someone. Just go out on the floor and get down. I danced more last night then the last 30 years.

The Night ended with a huge circle dance, at least 40 people. The first person would dance across the floor and when they got to the other side would choose the next person. Almost NO ONE refused, because they knew they would not be made fun of.

Costumes wre creative but we seamed to have an unusual number of Bees and not enough pirate wenches for me.

So check out Beginning Experience at http://www.beginningexperience.org/index.php

Women Peeing In The Men's Room
Posted: 1/14/2009 10:01:13 AM
We Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota has such a problem with the women invading the west restrooms that they have to post security outside the doors and they have been know to eject women who have wandered into the wrong side. I experienced a young lady using the mens room at the east side restroom and it didn't bother me, I just question slow walk past the urinal as half a dozen young studs were using it.......can you say window shopping? Obviously I was ignored, sigh.

I think the reason they try to enforce it at We Fest is the legal problems. It seems that it would be silly for a women who uses the facilities to claim sexual harassment or assault but this IS Minnesota and anything can happen here.

Sometimes it seems like it is such a big state and we are sooooooo spread out. Even from Saint Cloud to Coon Rapids is over an hour drive and that is the north end of the Metro. If I saw an event and it is much further south than that I have to figure coming back in the early morning hours with all the drunks on the road.

I would love to meet more of the PoFers but I don't have the $ to stay in a hotel and I don't think I could stay at someones place I don't know.

The first time you realize that you're sexy
Posted: 1/3/2009 3:55:20 PM
Clothes does make the difference. Walking into a tourist information spot on the interstate while riding the bike wearing black chaps, tight jeans and an armored riding jacket that makes my shoulders looked even wider then they already are I got a real nice twice over look by a lady going in the other direction. Was smiling for the next 50 miles.

Another time chaps, jeans, sleeveless tee shirt and leather vest a woman pulled up in her car and complimented me on my outfit. that one kept me smiling for about 3 months.

I have nothing against Harleys, but I would like to see fewer of them?

I am not defined by my motorcycle. I am defined by my faith and I use the bike to reach others who may not have heard HIS word. If you don't want to ride 3 out of 4 weekends in the summer on the back of the bike we probably wouldn't click anyway so me and the bike pictures stay in.

That is one of the nice things about this site, there is something for everyone here.

I married the first time because the sex was GREAT.........until after the wedding. I am being chaste so that the next time I know we are compatible in head and heart first. If we are good to goon those the sex angle should work out fine.

I have to say that it has made it easier to just talk with women when you remove the tension of always thinking "Can I make her?"

Season change and desire for companionship
Posted: 10/18/2008 6:03:17 PM
In spring it is wanting someone for those walks where you step on the frozen puddles and listen to the ice crunch.

In summer the warm sands at the lake. The smell of suntan lotion on your companions shoulder. Lets not forget the blooming flowers as you ridfe together through the lake regions.

Fall brings the spice of the fallen leaves as you have that one more picnic and just lie in the park.

Winter cuddling in front of the fire (sniff sniff, i don't HAVE a fire) after some outdoor activities.

So yes, the change of seasons brings on the wish. Just for a different reason for each.

I'd have to argue #6. Isn't gin the Ultimate Panty Remover? Plus I've seen many girls at the bar who have had too much gin and who do slutty things (flashing boobs etc) that they normally wouldn't do.

Halloween costumes: You, a special someone, or crazy ideas
Posted: 10/29/2007 5:42:54 PM
As a professional Santa I always have to be such a goodi two shoes during the christmas season. Two years ago I went as BadSanta to a party at a Bar. I must have had twenty ladies sitting on my lap during the course of the evening getting pictures with me holding a cigar and a bourbon. I was never able to pull off the BAD part though, i was just a slightly naughty Santa that night. Hope to reprise this costume next year.

Sorry if I put a bug in you but!

Apology accepted

Sarcasm does not always come through well online. With the amplification of your original post I can see what you mean and I hope you will accept my apology for the remarks about pets.

I realize you do not see many female profiles like I view very few mens, but I have seen profiles of one off focus or dark picture of the poster and 6-8 wonderful pictures of thier pets or of sceniac vistas which to me tell very little of the actual person so it works both ways.

You work from your end and I will work from mine to try to get people to show themselves better online, OK?

I wish some of these guys who are young enough to be my kids (my son will be 18 in 5 days!!) WOULD get their SINGLE dads on here and point them in my direction. LOL!

Not sure if I should confess this here but. One of my sons best friends mother is single and back when I was still married we worked together occasionally. Although I was not looking ( I take my vows VERY seriously ) she seemed like a good match.

Now I am divorced but she is in a relationship, sigh. I did mention to her son if that changes to let me know. He thought it would be SO COOL.

So far no changes, thus I keep throwing out my line in this pond.

Dying to breath
Posted: 10/11/2007 6:35:36 PM

I was just diagnosed with this and got my CPAP last week.

Good for you, It makes a differnece doesn't it. I have over 11,000 hours on the machine and would no more go to sleep without it then walk out the door naked. The nasal pillows are the least ugly of the many masks.

When i stay at a friends (not the romantic kind) house i do show them what to expect if they wanted around in the middle of the night and see.

Anyone who would like advise about sleep apnea, CPAP or are interested in the forum i belong to please contact me. I am not THE expert but i can point you in the right direction. I am a bit of an evagelist when it comes to OSA.

Thank you all. I have been complient for over 5 years now and have given multiple speaches on Sleep Apnea. I will pass on your recommendations to the other group and they will appreciate the outside advise.

As to noise, most are no louder then a "white noise" machine. Compared to my snoring which could keep half a campground from sleeping it is minimum. Before i was on the machine I slept 6 months in the basement as far away as possible from the rest of the family and suffered from extremem sleep deprivation before getting it.

I guess part of posting this message was also to warn everyone of the condition and to maybe help someoen with it to seek help.

Clautrophobia is a proble, one I had at first myself, but there are many styles of masks out there now. I use what are called nose pillows and the mouth is left free. Works only for nose breathers of course but it is an option for some.

I truly believe that without the machine I would have died a torturious death and urge anyone who runs into OSA to push someone they know toward treatment.

Hi, besides being on this forum I am on one for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Symptoms of OSA include loud snoring with brief moments of choking when the person stops breathing. Many people over 45 are now diagnosed with this and part of the theropy for most means wearing a mask while sleeping and having pressurized air pushed into them to keep their airways from collapsing when they go into deep sleep.

The question brought up on the other forum is, what do you do when you have that chance for that magic night when your new friend decides it is time to cumsumate a relationship?

Do we hide the machine and spend a restless snoring night. Try to explain what you are putting on after the excitement and why you need to do it? Boot said person out as soon as you can so they do not see/know about your problem and you get a good night of rest.

As a final note, people with OSA NEED this theropy, not complying can lead to heart attacks, strokes and other cardiorepiratory problems.

The last question. Would you become intimate with someone who explains the problem before hand?

On the other hand I was asked by a women I had been on a couple of dates on how I got to where I was. I explained, she asked questions. We got very close because of it. I think it was to see weither I was worth dating and to find out where my scars were.

Didn't scare her away and she knows she isn't like my EX so why should it? I would not volunteer information unless I thought it was pertinant but if asked, does a person tell?

unnoticed flirting signs by women

Men, what do y'all do to show interest that may be suble and I may be missing it?

All though not affective, walking around in circles like a bird with a broken wing and drooling all over my shirt seems to be the way I handle it, lol. Now lets be serious, ahum.

Eye contact while speaking to her, I believe many of us guys find this difficult to it would be a very good sign.. Watch her lips as she smiles and laughs so you can see if they reach up to the eyes. Flirting should be fun and my conversation leans toward the frivilous. I try to keep that smile on her face.

My main problem with flirting is getting up the courage to give a email addy or telephone number. Would a calling card be to forward or rude?

Say AA and watch them run
Posted: 9/24/2007 6:28:27 PM
Don't have time to look through all the pages so if I am repeating others, please forgive me.

AA, recovering with a good history. I am fine with that. Already a friend and need AA and a helping hand, we are good to go.

Two of my best friends have over 20 years with AA. They do not lecture and enjoy the good times without alcohol. But when I need to do a blowout on my first anniversay after the divorce they took care of me and poured me into bed in the early hours of the morning. Gave me aspirins and feed me in the morning. That was two years ago and the times i drink are very few now but they alwys offer to be the designated driver.

I find myself drinking non-alcoholic drinks with them more and more, so they are leading by example more than anything.

To the OP, if you haven't already, drink non=alcoholic drinks in the early dates and if they ask, tell them it is your choice. Later when they know you better explain. By then your credentials will have been made and they can see you are living by your choices.

Good luck to you and i hope you find happiness.

Guns
Posted: 9/6/2007 10:36:11 AM
In the US in order to legally buy a firearm from a dealer you must go through the NICS data base. If you have ANY domestic abuse convictions, misdemeanor of felony, you are denied the purchase (and if things worked the way they are supposed to be arrested for trying, but the gov forgets that part). So if you have doubts and he has firearms ask for the receipt, instant background check!

I will regularly go through a NICS check every 18 months for purchases and since i have worked for both a dealer and a firearms manufacturer I have had two fairly extensive checks in the last year.

99.9% percent or better of the legal owners of firearms have much lower rates of ANY arrestes and convictions than the average person. Now the illegal buyers? I would prefer they were all jailed so to stop people from taking my legal rights away.

And to those who would not date a guy with a gun. I wouldn't date you anyway and have lost several ladies interested in me because of this issue. I have also made several friends with ladies who actually enjoy the sport themselves.

Any garage sale pros out there??
Posted: 9/6/2007 9:44:11 AM
We stopped doing multi day sales the most stuff went in the first 4 hours and the rest of the time spent there was a waste.

I would also suggest some items visible from the street. When there are a lot of sales on we do "drive bys" if we don't see a couple of larger items that are NOT junk out on the driveway.

I have no life so that is not the problem, BUT.

I spent almost 22 years having someone looking over my shoulder at evrything I did and always finding fault. Never a compliment and always a complaint. I am not sure if I am able at this time to be in the same house 7 days a week with someone.

Some day I will find the woman who will make things change but until then I will be satisfied with what I have.

Morning Sex vs Evening/Night Sex
Posted: 8/29/2007 7:19:01 AM
Maybe it is me, but the scent of a woman in the warm sheets in the morning is different than at any other time. I remember snuggling my face into the point between her neck and shoulder from behind and just breathing it in. In the morning the sense of touch also becomes heightend and I feel tiny sparks at I lightly touch her. Better stop now, don't want to provide TMI.

The funniest thing I remember is the goofy grin on my face all day and people wondering why I was so happy.

one side of the story heard here..
Posted: 8/29/2007 6:58:11 AM
I for one want the ladies to keep flirting. Even if nothing comes of it my spirits get lifted. Personally verbal flirting does not give me a green light and it takes a more direct comment or a strong physical action before I were to think that she was physically interested in me.

Right now since I do not have a relationship running flirting is my only socialization with the ladies and I love it.

Ladies don't be afraid to say No and make it stick.

If I can I will bring a woman I am meeting for the first time into a used bookstore downtown. If she stops just inside the door and takes a big breath of that musty, dusty, slightly spicey smell of old books she has great possibilities.

I read obsessively when I get the chance. I will read the back of the cereal box if there is nothing else including the list of ingrediants. Favorite books will be bought and brought out on a rainy day to be read over again. Hem, I wonder when the last time i just took time off to listen to the rain as I read an old friend?

I wonder if this is something I should add to my profile??

What are the dumbest things you've done as a kid?
Posted: 8/22/2007 8:54:08 PM
Lass, I am amazed you made it this far. A less strong person would have given up long ago.

I was fairly safe as a child, I avoided the temptations my brothers put to me like urinating on an electric fence, avoided the skateboard, didn't beleive them when they said they would catch me when I jumped off the dock. BUT..........

As an adult I have taken the first 1/8th of an inch off my thumb with a radial arm saw.

Found myself walking around with a 2x4 stuck to my foot when I stepped on a nail.

Getting 8 stitches when a piece of window glass broke as I was glazing it (I tried butterfly bamdages but couldn't shave the hair off my leg well enough to get them to stick).

Got my head almost taken off by a sheet of plywood dropped from the roof.

Put an 1/8th inch drill 1 1/2" into the ball of my hand.

I explained all of this to my kids as the needed blood sacrifice in order to complete a construction or repair job.

Remember the girls that were just not very interesting when you were a young man? I am talking just average or plain girls.

I ran into one who was in my sisters class and 30 years made a hell of a difference. Mature she is better looking then almost every girl I knew in high school! To bad my sister refuses to be Cupid for me and the fact that she lives a good distance away. I would like to take my time and get to know her better.

A 100 pound woman 999 times out of a 1000 probably would not be able to defend herself against a 200 pound man, especially if he has a weapon (knife, stick, club, bat etc.....)of some kind.

Nuff said.

Of course I do I work for a firearms manufacturer and am the assistant to the manager of our gunclub. If I cannot talk the talk and walk the walk I would have to find another job which I would enjoy much less than this one. We had over 100 trapshooters through the door tonight and I bet not one of their firearms have been pointed at another human let alone been fired at one. I also know that if a place were to be robbed it would not be our range, lol.

People buy cars for transportation. People buy guns to kill. Any questions?

I buy guns for the purpose of putting nice holes in paper. Making steel targets clang. I collect antique firearms for their history.

I also have guns to help protect the young lady who was brutally beaten by a drugged up 350 pound animal in the apartment below mine.

The new guns I bought have never killed anyone and I hope I will never need to take someones life to defend mine or others. The antique guns were used to fight off the Soviet Army by the small nation of Finland.

The target shooting is a legitimate practice and the weapons of war had a ligitimate use also.

I love all these broad based accusations put forth by the gun haters.
