20 days in Nippon aka Japan

I'm really looking forward to my 20 day trip to Japan in late March during cherry blossom season.
I'm still in the process of deciding what I want to see but I do know that:
1 - Trip will only be to Central-Western Honshu
2 - Places I'm sure that I want to see are Tokyo, Nikko, Hakone, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Mount Koya, Himeji, Hiroshima and Miyajima Island.
I'd appreciate any input regarding the following questions:
- Which travel guide did you find most helpful? I have The "Eyewitness Travel Japan" and "Tokyo" guides as well as "Lonely Planet Japan" and "Lonely Planet Tokyo Encounter".
- How many days would you recommend I spend in each of the places mentioned above? At the moment I'm thinking:
Nikko - 1 day
Hakone - 1-2 days
Kyoto - 2-3 days
Nara - 0.5-1 day
Osaka - 1-2 days
Mount Koya - 0.5-1 day (including one night)
Himeji - 0.5-1 day
Hiroshima - 0.5-1 day
Miyajima island - 0.5-1 day (including 1 night)
Tokyo - 7 days
- Any other place in Honshu you'd recommend?
- My cousin and I are thinking of flying into Tokyo and leaving the next day to other spots on our tour in order to leave Tokyo for last. We figure that we can always find something to do there where in other spots on our trip we should have a more fixed timetable. Do you think that this is a good idea?
- Good Hotel/Ryokan/accommodations you can recommend from experience in these places? Has anyone spent a night in one of the monastaries at Mount Koya? Anyone stayed at Miyajima island? Hakone? Good Ryokan in Kyoto?
- While my budget isn't limitless and I would prefer to spend the night in places that would cost less than 100 USD per night per person (I'll be travelling with my cousin so we'll share a room) , I would like to spend at least one night in a 5 star super modern luxurious hotel in Tokyo. Any recommendations? I was thinking of the Park Hyatt as an option. Oh, if you have recommendations for exceptional accommodations in my other planned spots, I'd love to hear about them.
Finally, I've checked out a few Ryokan to try and book online but they don't seem to accept bookings for April at this time. I know that Japan starts the new year in April yet I was wondering when will it be possible to book for April in these places. Anyone ran into this problem?
Thanks for your help!

Define "cheap"?
There are lots of hotel chains that offer decent accommodations for around 100 dollars a night. Some of them are:
Best Western
Holiday Inn Express
Econo Lodge
Travelodge
etc...
Best thing to do is to go on a site such as "Trip Advisor", type in "Calgary", and read the reviews of the Calgary hotels/motels. Who know, you might find a good deal.

Tell me about Greece and the Greek Islands

I've only been to Rhodes. The tourist areas were no different than any other Med. beach resort although there were quieter shores which were peaceful and beautiful.
I personnaly didn't find the Greeks on the island very hospitable. I felt that all they cared about is taking your money. The locals in Greek Cyprus on the other hand were far nicer and accommodating to tourists.

How do YOU handle rejection?

Rejection is all part of the dating game online. It's very easy to reject someone online. I never take it personally since the woman who rejected me hasn't even met me in person.
I do think that it is very rude if a woman writes in her profile that she would like a message with some "meat" in it and not some one liner only to read and delete my message, a message that I took the time to write and ask her sincere questions in a respectable manner.
Very rarely did I write to a woman and received a response stating that she wasn't interested. Women usually don't write back. They either read your message and don't respond or read and delete the message. At least that's the case with my rejected attempts to communicate.
I always have complete respect to women who politely write back, no matter their answer to my mail.

Why don't tall men choose to date tall women?

I could say the same thing. Why do short women around my height only want to date tall guys? Even with heels on they barely reach the guys head!

Hug or a Hand Shake?

It depends on how long and how comfortable my conversation was with my date prior to meeting.
If it was a good conversation then I'd go with the french greeting (hand shake + kiss on the cheek). If it was more formal then I'd go only with the handshake.

If my female partner would make more money than I or come from a rich family, I'd have no problem with that, as long as she or her family members don't feel that they are better than other people just because they have more money. It's all a matter of her character and upbringing.
When it comes to paying the bill, I'm in the opinion that sharing is the best solution. It doesn't have to be precise where the man pays for one evening and she pays for the next. Partners should share the financial load because they care for each other and help each other out. Money should be regarded as a tool for a more comfortable life, less as a social status seperator and ego trip tool.

What was your worst job you ever had?
Posted:

My worst job was a paper boy. Woke up 6 days a week at 3 am and worked for 4 hours distributing newspapers. After 6 months of doing that I couldn't take it anymore.
But I can't complain since a buddy of mine is a police officer who's job is to investigate vehicle accidents. The stuff that he sees would give ANY person nightmares.
