Overrated Bands.
Posted:

Ok, i think i'm going to get a lot of flack for this one but i'll put it out there anyway:
1. Nirvana! - Kurt Cobains death is what made the band so popular.
2. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - under the bridge? More like over the hill, nothing red hot about them in my opinion.
3. Nickelback - most songs sound exactly the same. Different lyrics, same tune.

Bottom Line - Is it Ok to Shag Your Step Siblings ??????
Posted:

I personally wouldn't set out to do it, having said that I don't think there's anything wrong with it either. Think of it this way....you start seeing someone, the relationship becomes serious/sexual and then one of her parents gets married to one of yours making you related by law.......should you now end the relationship based on that? I know I wouldn't!

Yup, I tend to agree with some of the previous posters.........there's nothing funny about climate change. One side of the world has been inundated with flood after flood while the other has been burnt to a crisp. The ice caps are melting, there's been a week of 40+ degrees in SA and VIC in Spring and all this is happening while the government sits there in denial......pretty sad state of events.

Shakira??? Oh God!! That ridiculous she-wolf song is driving me insane. I remember waking up one night to the sounds of what I thought was someone strangling a cat outside only to realise someone was playing that dreaded she-wolf song. While Brit may not be the most gifted vocalist, Shakira is much much worse.

I have that idiotic song "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus , stuck in my head. For the love of God, please suggest a good song to help purge this drivel from my head.
And NO, I was not listening to it by choice. It came on the TV for some reason.
Now I do too thanks to you. Thanks a lot HOLLY!!!!!!

Keeping it short and simple......I think she is the most underrated performer in the world. She is clearly the popstar people love to hate, she gets hounded by the paparazzi every single day and negativity is thrown in her direction in all forms of media yet she is still around and will be (if not already) the highest selling female of all time. I'd like to see "a canteloupe" achieve that, my guess is that the canteloupe will get mouldy, shrivel up and die within a month.

Go for it! I have tried the long distance thing in the past and we almost got married. It can work if both people are honest, faithful, and really committed to making things work. The only things I would suggest is that you take a bit more time to get to know him before taking the plunge and keep in mind that there will be a relocation issue in the future if you become involved in a relationship with him. The relocation issue is the long distance relationship killer, if one of you is not willing to move then you are wasting your time.

So you didn't think it was odd when The Pope gave George Bush praise and blessings for all that was done in Iraq?? I think that was one of the lowest points, to have someone so highly regarded in religious terms give praise to a person responsible for the deaths of over 1 million people (many innocent) in a war based on oil. If the bible is true I guess they are all going to hell.

I once stole some fruit off the next door neighbours fruit tree, the Freddo Frog story has me concerned enough to run off to the local police station and turn myself in. Only problem is that the evidence was eaten many years ago!
My opinion is that the case is excessive, it may take months to prove that the Freddo Frog was in fact stolen. What will be the outcome?? Hmm maybe he/she will be sent to his room with no dinner.........the case is ridiculous.

Does it matter?? Both fall into the category of the two evils I described earlier......isn't it odd that politicians/dictators can break the rules of the bible yet it isn't seen as a sin because money or oil is involved??? There should be no grey area in religion yet there are many of them.

Really? So the soon to be (if not already) highest selling female of all time is useless?? Thats interesting, makes me wonder who is buying her albums and why most of her singles make the top 10. She's a dancer that sings........off topic I look forward to the upcoming Kelly Clarkson concerts.

Personally I think the Britney attacks are getting a bit old. Her performances are based mainly around dancing, most fans should know this. I'd like to see the media and the whining public dance around for 2 hours and try to sing at the same time.....leave the girl alone! I'm surprised that she even bothered to take a 20 hour + trip here to perform for an ungrateful audience.

Different approach to online dating

I think i'll be going celery shopping this weekend!
Back on topic I can relate to the OP's experiences. I ran into a number of serial daters during my first month on this site, most of them see dating as a sport and have little interest in finding something long term because they are always looking for the next best thing. It took me about 2 weeks to lose interest and stop sending first contact messages.....the supermarket, the line at the post office, public transport, and even standing at traffic lights waiting for the little man to turn green are hotbeds of activity when it comes to finding a date........oh there's also the lollipop lady at the local school that gives me flirty looks and body language but she's twice my age so i'm not going there!

Is this a date or a job interview?
Posted:

Thats the main reason why I don't rush into the first meet. A few weeks chatting online and over the phone may seem like a waste of time to most people but at least it takes away the "job interview" element when you eventually meet since a small connection has already been established. Get the interrogating out of the way first and then meet and enjoy the date.....thats the way I like it.

What can I say, my dvd player isn't working, I don't have digital tv, and the majority of video stores don't have VHS anymore so i'm stuck watching trashy entertaining shows along with Adam Sandler and Will Ferrel movies....the footy may be over but cricket season is about to begin so all hope is not lost!

I recommend a show like "Rock of Love".....there is an abundance of silicone, stupidity, and a 40+ year old washed up rockstar pretending to want to find a partner when in fact all he wants is to nail every girl in the show. Watch that one for a few weeks and you will find yourself racing back to the Adam Sandler/Will Ferrel movies in no time!

Need some advice about lazy, going nowhere girlfriend
Posted:
10/16/2009 3:07:44 AM
^^I agree! I think the OP is behaving like a jerk. She was good enough for you at the beginning and now months into the relationship you claim to love her but want her to change. To make things worse he is being egotistical claiming that dumping her will somehow motivate her to become the woman he wants her to be. What do you want her to be exactly? Your sugarmumma? She has a job, sure it doesn't live up to your lofty standards but she is happy with it and a decent boyfriend would respect that.
I'm sure she has always dreamed of being with a guy that joins a dating site claiming to be "single" and badmouthing her for all the online world to see. I think you should dump her, you would be doing HER a favor

Dating a person with mental illness scare u?
Posted:
10/16/2009 2:29:19 AM
It depends on the type of illness and its severity. For example, I can't imagine myself in a long term relationship with a woman that suffers from severe depression because i'd feel inadequate and helpless in that situation. I would feel responsible in some way for her sadness instead of just accepting it as a symptom of the illness which would in turn affect the way I acted around her.

Yes, too much money is being spent in this area. Maybe more time needs to be spent on improving the public transport system rather than throwing away millions of dollars on a temporary fix (congestion).

Is the government making people lazy?
Posted:

I think its too easy for people that are employed and financially stable to point the finger and look down on people on welfare. Sure there are many out there that cheat the system and have no intention of getting a job but that doesn't give anyone the right to assume that all people getting Centrelink benefits are lazy.
Try living a few months in the life of a person that needs these benefits and you may start to think differently. The people that lose their jobs because of the financial crisis, having to live on $450 per fortnight when money needs to be spent on food, petrol, bills, rates, insurance etc etc......the carers, the disabled, the homeless, the list goes on and on. More money should be spent looking after the needy instead of throwing away taxpayers money on frivilous projects like freeways, sports stadiums, sporting events (F1 Grand Prix)......what about the 50 million dollars spent when the Queen came to visit the country a number of years ago?.......the government wastes money every day.

Chemistry and Feelings versus just a piece of @ss. I don't get it.

It seems pretty simple to me.......she is shallow. She has decided to turn her back on the guy (you) that treats her right in and out of the bedroom, the guy she seems to have a strong connection with but it still wasn't good enough.......she made a choice based purely on physical attraction and picked the hot one.
She obviously doesn't think too much of him if she's willing to come back to you for the sex but feels the need to keep him around as the designated HOT partner just to show him off to friends and family.

The end of this 'nice guy' epic
Posted:
10/8/2009 5:10:54 PM
you get put in the 'friend zone' once you are there you will be perptanice and you are done as far as she is concerned. She will call you when things are bad with the boyfriend of the month, and if you continue to take the calls thinking that you may get a shot to date her, here's your sign. You are a NICE GUY. You might as well be gay to her.
NICE doesnt make you taller, richer, smarter, fitter, have a better job, house, car, or get you a date apparently. Besides every girl I have talked to that is dating a 'jackass' is convinced she is the ONE that can change him. Go be the jacka$$, it will fill up your social calender alot faster than playing the stock market will affect your bottom line
Oh yes, the dreaded friend zone. I don't mind having female friends, I only have issues with it when its a one sided friendship (she only contacts you when SHE needs/wants something and pretty much ignores you when things are going well). Another common problem i've encountered in my lifetime is that same female friend trying to pursue a relationship or a friends with benefits type deal from the moment another woman comes into the picture.
I think i'm a 'nice guy', I treat women well, I don't lie or cheat and like to make people around me laugh with my ridiculous jokes and goofy behaviour. Sure some of the members of POF may look down on that but I couldn't care less about them. I'd rather continue being myself than turn into a cold heartless jerk just to get more dates and be more successful in life.

What Is She Trying To Suggest - Pursued By Other Men
Posted:

It sounds like she's the type that likes men to compete for her attention. The problem with these types of women is that they will stick around if you put on a good show but once the entertainment is over they move on to their next victim. Why anyone would go on a date and then proceed to tell the person about all the other people they are seeing is beyond me.....she seems a bit boring/simple.

I'm so unshallow that i could walk on water!!
I didn't know that Jesus was a member of POF! How about you find yourself a nice deep lake and film yourself walking across the surface, i'm thinking you will sink like a pebble.
Some good points made in this thread, from my own personal experiences I agree that some attractive women have the personality of a block of wood and then there are others that are extremely insecure......but I think this is a trait of many people, you can't narrow it down to just looks. I would continue seeing women you connect with most and forget about the whole "looks" issue or you will end up stuck in bed with someone you can't stand on a mental level OR desperate and dateless because the attractive women of POF have rejected you.

Dating is not a business. I am not a McDonald's franchise.
(sigh) No fries....dang.
OP: sorry, have to agree w/Cass.
Yeah, I tend to agree with Cass too. There are few things worse than talking to someone online or face to face, getting bombarded with silly questions and having the entire experience feel like a formal job interview. A healthy relationship is not a job, i'm with someone because I enjoy spending time with them not because we would be a good match on paper (materialistic).

No connection, no chemistry, no passion...but....they're nice?
Posted:
10/6/2009 11:54:45 PM
What the hell is “connection” or “chemistry”? Being in lust? You have it right away or you reject that person despite there could be lots of potential and common interests? No wonder dating leads nowhere....
When shallow people say there's no chemistry/connection it is usually related to physical attraction/lust. For those who know better connection refers to a variety of things and while its hard to pinpoint the exact meaning of the word I think it involves similar interests, personalities, and the ability to enjoy a persons company without having it feel like work......a good flowing conversation without the awkward silences.
Back on topic I like to give it at least 3 dates before jumping to any conclusions. Some people are awkward during the first date mainly because they want to make a good impression and the nervousness and pressure of the moment ruins it for them. They could be the nicest person in the world but without common interests and "the spark" it all becomes a bit pointless.

Some people seem to think my profile is funny......the sad thing is that I was actually trying to be serious!

The problem with Sagittarian men
Posted:

The one and only thing I agree with is that Sag's are good in bed. The fact that I am a Sag myself might have something to do with me coming to this conclusion.
Seriously, the problem here is not Sagittarians.......the problem is people that jump to conclusions and make judgements based on someones star sign. There are enough ridiculous reasons to reject people floating around this site, astrology is right up there with the worst of them. Are all blondes dumb? Are all redheads fiery? Lighten up!

Do all profiles sound the same to you?

Yes most of the profiles i've read do sound the same to me, not that it matters.......it usually comes down to the picture. You could have the best profile in the world but your chances of finding a date are woeful if the opposite sex thinks you look like a troll.
Personally i'd like to think that my profile is unique, pity about my picture though.

If an inmate can start a relationship and I haven't been able to in a few months the I think it just might be time to give up!!
Maybe you can turn to a life of crime and get yourself into prison since inmates seem to be getting a lot of action these days. If you have no luck with women there are guys in there that ummm........hmmm ok I better not go there! lol.
All bad jokes aside I think women that try to start relationships with inmates are either taking their bad boy fetish a bit too far or they are simply desperate! I thought criminals were a turn off, maybe i've been out of the dating game too long.
