Are TV programs and video games barriers in relationships?
Posted: 11/1/2009 3:52:17 PM
It's all in the way time is spent. I have no problem with my other half playing video games. Most of the time when he's doing that, I'm working on homework or reading/other things I like to do myself. We play several multi-player video games together. We also spend plenty of time doing other things together. As long as their attention isn't on the games (or any other hobby) 24/7, there shouldn't be a problem.

Soulmate Vs Playmate...
Posted: 9/27/2009 7:11:17 AM
I think that was beautiful. And so very true. Somestimes it's not easy to recognize your soulmate. It takes going through the playmates, both good and bad in order to appreciate "The One." Then you thank God every day that you found each other.

Girls and Cars
Posted: 9/18/2009 8:20:12 AM
We're out there. I have a '73 Nova that I've had for years. Bored out 350, slicks, transbrake for racing and everything. It's not just women. Most people have no clue what I'm talking about when I mention it/ My SO doesn't know much about cars but doesn't mind learning. That's what you need to find OP. A girl who doesn't know much but wouldn't mind spending time with you learning.

Finding love on POF

Yes they do. I met my boyfriend a year and a half ago and have been living together for almost a year w/ no problems. And like the post said, check out the forums. There's others out there. You just have to be patient. It's just like any other way to meet someone. It's a hit and miss.

I don't know about anyone else, but I think a guy getting you anything at all should be appreciated. I've heard lots of women complain that their guys never do anything for them any time. Yes its nice to have your guy notice the small, everyday little things that make life easier. But those silly "generic" gifts are mostly given on Valentine's Day and times like that. At least you know they're thinking about you when you get one. How would you react if your birthday or something came around and you didn't get anything and his answer to why was "I took the trash out for you last week"?

OSU Game 1/5/09

Hey everyone. Just was wondering if anyone has thought about getting together for the big game on Monday? I know a bunch of people went to BW3's on Bethel Road last year and had a great time. Its another late game so didn't know if anyone would be up for going out on a work day.

What is your definition of a friend?
Posted: 12/6/2008 1:06:21 PM
A true friend is someone who knows your secrets and you know theirs but neither of you will blackmail the other with that info. lol Seriously, I have three true best friends and no matter how much time goes by without us seeing each other, the minute we together again, its like we've never been apart. There's no awkawardness or trying to think up conversation. It just happens naturally and we're back the way we were when we first met. I know that if I ever needed anything they would be there in a heartbeat for me and I for them. They are more family oftentimes than my own family.

How dressy is everyone planning on getting that night? I've been to some events for New Year's Eve that are semi-formal to casual. Was just wondering what everyone else was planning on.

DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!!!!...........WITH KILLERDAD 12/12/2008
Posted: 12/1/2008 1:48:01 PM
I don't think anyone that posted was wanting to cause trouble or drama here. That's not what POF is all about. Most people just people (and I include myself in that) balk at being told something is "manadatory". Nothing I've seen was aimed as being hostile to Killerdad, just questioning the why. Nothing I've seen posted publicly clearly explains the concept at all. All that was posted was that the question had been answered in private emails. If there are conditions on attending, it should be stated for everyone to understand. This question was why I hadn't signed up yet. I would love to dance the night away (as Sherry and Debbie can attest to.) I am a non-drinker as well as several other people I know attending and can definitely have fun without drinking. I would just want to make sure that if I'm required to turn my keys over to someone, I can be assured that someone I don't know can't get ahold of them. Most people have key fobs that will show anyone where you're parked if you push the buttons. Sorry to be continuing this.....

Hey OP, don't give up hope. I finally "hooked" my fish. Met him at a POF event. Went thru a lot of first dates, emails and phone calls before I found the right one. Just got to be patient. And like a couple people have said, go to the events. You meet great people even if nothing but friendship comes of it. Some of my closest friends I met thru here as well. Good luck!!

Whats your breaking point?
Posted: 5/14/2008 7:41:17 PM
I know we're already cutting way down on extra driving and outings. Staying home most of the time and if we do go out its to the dollar theater or something similiar.

Carpooling is another great alternative. My company has setup a bulletin board for employees to say where they live and what hours they work. They can then find people close to them with siniliar schedules.

April 1 trucker strike
Posted: 3/31/2008 5:15:47 PM
My dad has been an owner operator for going on 36 years now. I still get ticked when I hear people complain about the trucks on the road. Everyone hates paying $3.45 a gallon for gas. How about paying over $4.00 a gallon like diesal is right now? Diesal fuel has been over $3.50/gallon for almost 2 years now. And buying it at about 100 gallons at a time. Or how about paying almost $100 for a simple oil change? Most truckers are making next to no profits with the cost of fuel, oil, truck payments, insurance, etc. And the next time you stand in line to buy anything anywhere? Thank a truck driver!

In five years I will be.....
Posted: 3/19/2008 2:36:55 PM
In 5 years I hope to have my bachelor's degree finished (only a year and a half to go!), a promotion at work and have only 19 more years to retirement. I will also hopefully still be spending my life with my special someone. And maybe a house for us instead of an apartment by then.

Would you leave the dating sites if you got in a serious relationship?
Posted: 3/11/2008 5:43:48 PM
I met my SO on here and we have both put on our profiles that we are here for friends and forums only. I've had one email since then and I politely said thank you for the email but I'm not looking. We both like attending occassional events and its alot easier to know what's going on if you keep up with the forums.

Guess you just have to trust each other. And if you don't trust them them, then why are you with them?? Just my opinion.

Donating blood
Posted: 2/28/2008 3:46:38 PM
I wish I could give blood but I've been told I'm not allowed to by my doc. My company sponsors a blood drive once a quarter so people do donate. I think we had 50 people donate at the blood drive last month. I think alot of people are just afraid of 1) Pain and needles or 2) That they might in some way catch a disease or something of that nature. Maybe a POF sponsored blood drive would be an idea? There are a ton of wonderful people on here. I bet they'd be willing.

Chappy, you and Becca sound soo much like us. The tvs are usually either tuned to one of the CSIs, or the Law and Orders or Mythbusters. I love the Food Channel too though the s/o isn't as much of a fan. The food challenges are the best! Definitely don't watch as much tv as before though. I've still got shows tivo'd from back in November I'm trying to catch up on.

Throwing caution to the wind
Posted: 2/18/2008 4:10:10 PM
Education is on my list too. I'll be done with my Bachelor's next year then I see about going for my Masters. I might be in the minority but there really isn't any major "chucking" I want to do. My closeest friends and my family are all around here and I would not want to be without them. There are things I'd like to do though. Travel is one big thing on the list. I've never gotten a chance to really do that so at some point, I want to put stamps in my passport.

Relationship Home Invasion....
Posted: 1/27/2008 8:21:12 PM
I think it all depends on how long you've been seeing each other and how comfortable you are with them. If there's doubt in your mind, don't go. And it also depends on what you are calling persistant. Is he running the idea into the ground of you coming over? If you tell him you have to think about it or get to know him more and he still persists, run the other way. He's not someone who will listen to your concerns later on either.

I've been to quite a few of the bowling events and there is very little drinking. Even at the OSU gathering last night, is was mostly moderate and no one was drunk or out of hand. You'll find that the majority of us drink little or none at the events. We all have a ton of fun with0ut having to drink a lot. That's why we hang out. And I've never been to any of the events here lately where people didn't go around introducing themselves and making other feel welcome. Come try another event. Don't let one bad experience ruin it. We are nice people. I promise!!

Yea, my family is in Springfield and it only takes me 40 minutes to get to there from Columbus. Unless you're coming from down by the Dayton Mall area you should be able to get up there in about 1hr and 30 minutes tops.

I'll be there between 5:00 and 5:30 depending on traffic.
