No more women that beleive in the 'American Dream'?
Posted: 6/27/2005 8:02:48 AM
What happened to the American dream?

the internet, too many choices, thinking that there are 'plenty of fish', in the sea of people, yet we are still alone? We all want the 'american dream', but making it happen takes work, and too many want everything to be quick; slow it down, take it easy, smell the roses, no worries.
Imagine there is a bank that credits your account with 86,400 dollars every morning, it carries no balance from day to day, what would you do? you would spend it all right?
Well every day we are giving 86,400 seconds to spend any way we want, it can't be carried over to the next day, or saved, so we must make the best of those seconds.
the american dream is happiness. I think there is a mindset on what happiness is, house, vehicle, beautiful partner, lots of money; but many who have that still aren't happy, so; find that which makes 'you' happy first, then spread that. The 'american dream' is out there for all of us, but for each of us it is different.

i watched my cat die
Posted: 6/26/2005 7:45:29 PM
My cat, Bijou, had been fixed, but he died of complications, about 10 days later, it was Christmas eve morning, he died in my arms at the vets. The next day in the morning, I saw him out of the corner of my eye, right by my coffee table, he was there and then he jumped into the air and was gone, I will never forget that, it was like he was there to say goodbye. I also have other cats, but he was special to me.

Mail filter suggestion based on marital status
Posted: 6/22/2005 8:30:21 AM
I agree with a filter; on POF, I was contacted by a few men, one that I really liked, told me later, that he was on the site looking for a woman for 'his friend', he then told me he was in a committed relationship, we got along well, I believed him, and it hurt when he told me; a man wanted a woman for his wife, we would all live together; a man wanted me to go to China to teach english to students, some just wanted to cyber; they were all married, but lied on their profile.

who_the_fox, it's like that everywhere, so don't think that way, I thought that way too, but maybe part of it is, that some men say they want to meet, but perhaps there is a reason why they won't meet the local women, perhaps they aren't as honest as they say they are in their profile.

You are so right teddybare, there are soooo many people out there; years ago you either dated those in your own area, or moved somewhere else, now you don't have to leave your home to find someone, but what do you do when there aren't any choices left? The grass isn't greener on the other side, it's just different grass; if we had a limit, perhaps more people would get too know the few that are in our own area; I have found that a lot of people like their independant lifestyle, you live in your house, me in mine, but it's very hard to trust anyone these days, and you are correct when you say we don't feel anything anymore, when trust is gone, it's really gone. When your heart has been hurt a few times, a door is closed and locked, that is why there are so many looking. How many really good relationships do people have in a lifetime? I'll bet it's not many, I don't, and won't play games, it's not worth it.

Plenty of fish
Posted: 6/11/2005 6:44:20 AM
I think the real problem is that the internet is too easy to use, so people don't go out as much to meet others, but it is true the bar scene isn't any fun; there are lots of people but no one wants to give any one a real chance, they always think they can do better than what is available in their area, pretty soon there is no one left to choose from; no matter what site you go on it's all like that. I love the forums, most stes don't have that, all we can do is keep Music and POF

Sterilization (Perm./Temp) of Welfare Moms
Posted: 5/29/2005 7:49:58 AM
I think this problem starts with the lack of proper parenting; to many sex is a taboo subject, so it isn't talked about in the home, and not that much is taught in school, it needs to be discussed early before kids are old enough to have babies; if these girls/women are having babies to get more money, then temporary sterilization may get them working on a better solution for themselves.

Bananas, the truly magical fruit.
Posted: 5/12/2005 7:50:48 AM
Five years ago I had my gall bladder taken out, since that time, I have had this awful acid taste in my mouth, I thought it was acid reflux,or too much coffee( all I drink is decaf.) and I tried lots of different things like Malox, Tums, etc., then a few months ago, I started having fruit salad for breakfast, I also eat 2 or 3 small bananas a day, instead of other things ( cookies, crackerts, etc.),I noticed that my acid taste is completely gone, I never noticed it right away, cause when you feel good you don't question it.
All of the things mentioned below work, I have never felt so calm as I do know, no stress; this was sent to me by a friend, and I wanted to share this with all of you, as everyone should feel this great.

Bananas: Containing three natural sugars -- sucrose,
fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana
gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide
enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No
wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the
world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us
keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a
substantial number of illnesses and conditions,
making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken
by MIND amongst people suffering from depression,
many felt much better after eating a banana. This is
because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of
protein that the body converts into serotonin, known
to make you relax, improve your mood and generally
make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills -- eat a banana. The vitamin
B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which
can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the
production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps
in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is
extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making
it the perfect way to beat blood pressure. So much
so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just
allowed the banana industry to make official claims
for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood
pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham
(Middlesex) school were helped through their exams
this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and
lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research
has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist
learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in
the diet can help restore normal bowel action,
helping to overcome the problem without resorting to
laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a
hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened
with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with
the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood
sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates
your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in
the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try
eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals
helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid
morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite
cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside
of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly
successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help
calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of
Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads
to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and
crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients,
researchers found the most obese were more likely to
be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that,
to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to
control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high
carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels
steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food
against intestinal disorders because of its soft
texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit
that can be eaten without distress in
over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes
over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the
lining of the stomach.
Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas
as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the
physical and emotional temperature of expectant
mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women
eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool
temperature

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help
SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood
enhancer tryptophan

Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give
up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the
potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body
recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps
normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain
and regulates your body's water balance. When we are
stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing
our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with
the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in "The New England
Journal of Medicine, "eating bananas as part of a
regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by
as much as 40%!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many
ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four
times the protein, twice the carbohydrates, three
times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and
iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It
is also rich in potassium and is one of the best
value foods around.

So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase
so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor
away!"

WHAT KIND OF DIET ARE YOU ON??
Posted: 5/12/2005 7:10:12 AM
Diet refers to what you eat, or a regimented routine of food or drink; the topic may say 'what kind of diet are you on' but most know that there is no one diet that works for all; eating more vegetables, raw and cooked, more fruits instead of baked goods, my 'diet' consists mostly of salads, vegetables, fruits, soy protein, carbs, in the form of whole sprouted wheat tortillas, light sharp cheddar, cutting out most fats are one of the things you must do, fat is most often a hidden calorie, reg. cheeses have lots of cholesterol, like 25 grams as compared to 5.9 for light cheeses per serving. Diets are a fad that some think they can get rich on, all you need to do is eat healthy, exercise, 30 min.twice a day non-stop; start off slow, then build up to it, I did that a couple of years ago, and I feel great, I lost 30 pounds over 2 years ago, and I still have treats, you just learn to incorporate them into your lifestyle, it's not a diet that people need to look to, it's a change in eating habits, knowing that exercise is a necessary thing, not just to lose weight, but it keeps you healthy.

Anyone like Scary Movies? How bout
Posted: 4/28/2005 6:00:52 PM
About Stephen King's 'The Mist', I read that a long time ago, but he is so descriptive, that I would swear that it was a movie that I saw, even now, I can see it in my mind; it is true that the movie that they made out of the huge book 'It', was nowhere near as good as the book itself; when I am into a book, I see it playing out in my mind.
I loved the movie 'The Fog'.
I have been playing Doom3, as well as the expansion, so the movie should be just as dark and scary.
I love movies that have haunted houses, like 'The Others'.

I never ask anyone about his job or anything to do with money, but when we first talk, either in chat or on the phone, I am always told what he has, and all the plans he has for his,and his future new womans life; sometimes I wonder if he is doing that cause he really wants me to know, or baiting me, to see how I react, all I do is say that sounds nice. I would hope that if he is planning a life, that he has money, but he doesn't have to be rich. Money doesn't make anyone more attractive; I want to be with someone who is easy to get along with.

About women in the dating world..
Posted: 2/14/2005 11:26:15 AM
Women in the dating world:
Once you leave highschool it just gets harder, and depending on where you work, harder still. A lot of women(most),would like a committed relationship;but women can be just as bad as men while in a relationship(cheating, lying). I was married for 28 years, I was a virgin,I didn't know too much about life, but I do know that I want to be loved; men I have met may say good things in his profile, but when meeting just want a sexual relationship and that is all, "we meet once or twice a week, then you go your way, I'll go mine", I don't want that, I want a partner; I'm not a feminist, I'm old fashioned, still believe in family and taking care of my man, that is just me, how I am. I never dated, so I didn't know much about what to expect, being online has opened my eyes to more than I wanted to know. I would like to know what men really want from a woman? I like people, love to talk about any subject, nothing is to risque to talk about; after all talking is the only way to get to know anyone.
Chrisvet, from your profile pics, it looks like you have a nice smile and a happy, comfortable life; but you don't write very nice things, you seem like a mean, sarcastic person. We are on here looking for happiness too, don't put us down for trying to find it.

About men in the dating world..
Posted: 2/13/2005 10:30:49 AM
The men that I have met fall into one of two categories, either we aren't compatable, or they just want sex. I have never dated before so I don't know what they are doing. What is dating anyway? Does it mean that you are exclusive with that person? Or is it just for fun? Are you wanting to get to know that person? To me dating doesn't include sex, that's for a committed relationship. I find it hard to trust anyone these days.

I have had similar experiences as well; I get nice enough messages, but when I give them my msn, then all they want to talk about is s*x; I don't like that, and soon after, block and delete them; that behavior tells me that they don't care about me as a person that they may want to get to know; I have spoken with great men too; I don't mind talking about it, but not to the extent that that is all I hear.

Charming, I saw at wal-mart they have a new thing for hairballs, it looks like a deodorant stick, but it's hairball remedy, just let your cat lick it right from there or rub some on the paws.; also there is a whiskas dry food for controlling hairballs there too; when I feed the canned food I only give a little bit, then the dry food. I found that my cats like the food in the cans from the vets, it's also for keeping urinary balance; for 1 adult cat, I give 1/4 of the can, they love it, but too much and they throw up. They eat the grass to help their stomachs, but can't digest it that well, so they throw it up, it's a natural thing.
