I don't know how I could be more clear. Admin personally emailed me and said it wouldn't be a problem for event hosts as it was fixed. If more clarification is needed, you'll have to email him or csr@pof.com

I spoke to admin about it and this problem has been resolved. If I understand correctly, this restriction won't apply to event hosts.

New Age Restrictions Set By Admin: Message Restrictions Posted: 5/20/2013 4:22:48 PM
Since I sent out that emails 3 hours ago, there have been 55,000 messages to my admin account virtually all in support and a couple of old men that are unhappy about not being allowed to message 18 year olds. I have yet to hear from a single women that is upset with these changes. Most of the comments are alone the lines of "its about time". Let me be the first then. I attempted to contact an event host about an event in my area and am no longer able to contact them. I had been talking to them about an event I was planning on attending. Just to be clear, although I am a moderator and usually people contact me about events, in this instance, I am talking about an event I was planning on attending as a member. I would think this filter could possibly really impact POF events since it now makes communication with the host impossible in a lot of cases. Although I do like the fact that I won't be having old farts or cougar chasers contacting me as a result of my profile. In fact, I kinda LOVE it. What I don't like the fact I can't reach an event host.

So just to be clear admin, This new feature overrides a woman's own age filters regardless of what she may had selected? Is that correct? Just a suggestion, but wouldn't it make more sense to have these age filters automatically set up when profiles are created YET at the same time, make them adjustable by the user if they choose to? Also can this filter be overridden if the woman initiates contact first?

But if anyone is driving near downtown and doesn't mind giving me a ride and also making sure I can get in safely without hurting anything else I would appreciate it. I'm testing it with my fellow moderator, Trappedonbayst.
So far, I don't think it notifies them or is published anywhere.

It does give you a prompt though to follow up with a personal email.

If I had to make an educated guess, I think it's just Markus gathering "stats" from users.
Not sure how useful these stats would be considering there don't seem to be any check and balances to make sure users have even been on a date.

I want to thank everyone that came out last night. I know a lot of people were concerned about the weather but we got lucky. Not only did we have an enjoyable lecture, but we were able to see Jupiter though the telescope. Thank you for UWO for hosting us and thank you for everyone that attended. Hello folks. Sorry I'm so late on starting this thread. I've been really under the weather. That being said, I wanted to thank the staff of Downtown Kathy Browns for taking good care of us. Thank you also to Fresh FM, for spinning awesome tunes all night long and giving us a shout out on the radio station. I'd also like to thank each and every one of you that came out to the dance. LOL I wonder if it might be over a post where another user was calling people forum Nazis. There are a few words that are pretty taboo on here and Nazi is one of them (unless talking about real Nazis). That being said, unfortunately some great posts have been deleted because they contain reference to posts that were deleted for cause. I don't know if that is the case here, but it might be.

My first name really is Allison.
I have yet to have anyone figure out who I am just based on the knowledge of my first name.

If you feel compromised because someone referred to you by your first name, email me the link and I can remove your first name from the post.

That being said though, you are solely responsible for whatever information you put out there.
POF can not enforce sharing smarts. Bottom line, if you don't want information out there, then don't put it out there.

In closing, you need to take personal responsibility for what you put out there instead of expecting others to do it for you.

Frankly I'm at a complete loss at why you think POF would be different from ANY OTHER public site. It's pretty common knowledge that anything you post on the internet is open. I think you'd be well in the minority of misinformed people to believe stuff you post online is hidden or not shared.

Time: 7pm - 9pm. Arrive early as its first come first serve, with a limit of rougly 60 people. WE WILL BE MEETING IN FRONT OF ALUMUNI HALL. FROM THERE WE WILL MOVE TO THE OBSERVATORY.

Location: University of Western Ontario

Cronyn Observatory (located right next to Alumuni Hall)

Cost: This event is 100% free to attend. Parking not included. There are 2 parking lots in the immediate area, both with a flat rate fee of $6.00 for the evening.

Other Details: This event is an ADULT ONLY event. This is an exclusive event so take advantage of this opportunity while you can.

This event is a private event and not open to the general public so we recommend you register in advance by signing up below and/or notifying the host of your attendance and of guest(s) attending. Although sign up is not manditory, it does help me plan and just to be clear, guests will be granted access on a first come first serve basis. (please meet the group in front of Alumuni Hall). At 6:45 pm people will be admitted on a first come, first served basis with a maximum capacity of around 60 people. There will be a presentation on our solar system as well, time allowing a presentation on constellations. Additionally, weather permitting we will be spending a lot of time looking through the telescope. This event will be a go, rain or shine.

Additionally, we will be meeting at Maxwell McCoys off of Fanshawe Park road immediately following this event (approximately 9:00pm). Everyone will be welcome including anyone that was unable to make it to the observatory. This will be open to everyone with NO maximum capacity.

Thank you for everyone that came out Thursday. I was a bit worried with the sleet/rain that no one would show up. The venue was thrilled and surprisingly about 40 of us made it. I'd like to thank Maxwell McCoy's for having us and also thank you to everyone, old and new that showed up. It was nice to see so many newbies out to join us old regulars. Even nicer to see there were a few connections. Thanks again everyone for coming out.

I've never heard of such a thing.
I've heard of people claiming that "verifies" someone but can you please name one site that actually makes this a requirement as I know of none.

Thanks for the suggestion A_meeting _of_two_hearts but NO I would NEVER EVER consider putting together a vacation. I focus my energies on hosting free events. I think it is more important to put my efforts towards meeting people, and frankly I think that should be 100% FREE. I strongly feel that finding a mate shouldn't require a big bank account. Instead just singles looking to meet other singles. As a host, I feel it is important to keep costs down and hope that other hosts out there feel the same. I guess my goal when hosting parties is to offer a safe enviroment where people can come out and meet other users without going to great expense. In fact, when I host events, I arrange special deals with venues to lower any nominal cost that might be involved - be it waived cover charge, discounted drink specials, free munchies, etc. For example, with this party I've made sure we are getting discounted martinis at $4 and 1/2 price appetizers. Hosting a vacation would in fact be the polar opposite of what I'm trying to achieve with my events. Besides, no offense but if I was going on a vacation I'd be going to get away from POF, not be closer to it.

makes me wonder what exactly you said to her my pet peeve is when some users feel it is necessary to "point out" things on another persons profile and then are surprised when the person doesn't bless them and wish them a glorious day. my point is i suspect your unsolicited "advise" was likely reportable too.

Instead of typing @---)- why not just attach a gift to your email? you earn free points every day you login and there are many free pics to choose from including 2 types of flowers. The chances that POF is going to remove a security feature because you would prefer to manually type a fake rose icon are slim to nil.

So let's say POF starts a french forum. Where does POF draw the line. If they create a french forum shouldn't POF cater to every language? If so, who the heck is going to moderate it? There are TWO VOLUNTEER forum moderators. I'm not fluent in international languages.
