I need come help here from dog lovers
Posted: 8/20/2007 7:19:58 PM
Paws I always sit with my animals whenever I have to put one down. If he's suffering, you need to do that. My lab was 14, had arthritis, and wasn't doing well. I felt guilty when I couldn't really see other signs of illnesses, but he was suffering and could barely walk. I WON'T let an animal suffer like that if it can't be made better. (I worked at my vet for 5 years, so I saw a lot of that). Turned out his heart was going, also. I stayed w/him and talked to him until he was gone. That may seem terrible to do because it hurts so much, but just think of the same happening to you...you're scared and/or disoriented, and you're left alone.

Trust me, you will feel better about that. Make the call.

Church Denies Gay Veteran Funeral Service
Posted: 8/18/2007 6:23:50 AM
I'm sorry that you are a bigot, Black Knight. Unlike you, I DO respect you, your family AND your church. I suppose, tho, you can tell a gay person from a so called straight person? Maybe "it" will rub off on you and you couldn't tell??

I really find it hard to believe that Jesus would have ever turned away from anyone different than what he preached about. Funny how no one quoted the "do unto others" and "love thy neighbor."

People who hate others because of their lifestyle and beliefs, their color or sexual orientation (which, by the way is no one's business..) need to put that energy towards helping someone in need...go feed a homeless person...help out a storm victim...do some volunteer work somewhwere where it's needed.

And by the way, after we got here years ago, we did to the Native Americans what the Europeans did to us...but I guess that's ok because they weren't Christians?

Church Denies Gay Veteran Funeral Service
Posted: 8/17/2007 3:34:09 PM
It's hypocrisy, plain and simple. If I'm not mistaken, they were going to have a service for him, then when they found out the shocking news, they decided not to. Not very understanding, are they? So much for religion. Those supposedly "devout" people pick and choose from their bible what they believe is important.

I have gay friends who are also church going, God fearing people. You don't see their pastor trying to keep them out. It IS a well-known fact that they are a couple.

I am not a religious person, but I do think that whatever god you all worship may just be happy that He is being thought of.

Michael Vick to Plead Guilty
Posted: 8/17/2007 3:05:00 PM
Um..Spider...animals don't know right from wrong. They do things from instinct. They don't kill for fun or satisfaction..they defend themselves or feed themselves. WE know better. And just like someone who hurts a child, a person that would hurt an animal is just as bad to me. Maybe we are higher up on the food chain, but that doesn't mean we have to destroy everything we come into contact with.

As for the others who seem to hate anything and everything that isn't remotely part of their world, how lonely you must be. You are missing out on a lot.

Why is American law enforcement so obsessed with drivers speeding
Posted: 8/17/2007 2:31:18 PM
Why are people so obsessed with cops being obsessed? C'mon, people..you all sound like conspiracy freaks. I have had to call the police for help several times during the years, and they have always helped me out. I even had one wake me at 5 in the morning...apparently my number showed up when 911 was called. He made sure I was ok, and was trying to make certain I wasn't being forced to say anything.

Personally, I'm sick of the idiots that seem to think it's ok to do 40 down a neighborhood street where children are seen all the time. Then there's the guys that like to drag race down the main street in town. Oh yeah, THAT'S sexy.

As for the money aspect of things, I'm pretty sure they wanted to just shake a finger and say, "Now you ought ta' not drive so fast. Get along now," but it never worked. Everyone wants to make money, and having to pay a fine seems to be where it hurts the most.

And by the way, if it's a holiday, and you hear on the radio or television that the cops will be checking for speeders, don't **** when you get nailed for speeding.

Animals euthanised when they kill humans
Posted: 7/11/2007 9:27:29 PM
Bruce...I agree about PETA...both them and Greenpeace are just radicals...they can't be taken seriously. Afraid I haven't heard about the big WOLF conspiracy going on...but if you go into the wild, where a wild animal is, you may come up against a WILD animal. Would you go on an African safari and run out amongst the lions?

As for the money I spend on my animals, that is my choice..sorry if I didn't pop out two or three kids instead, go on welfare and let them run the neighborhood, possibly grow up to waste more tax payers' money, then make more humans who continue to screw up our world even more.

Anymore, the way the world is, give me an animal over a human most days.

Animals euthanised when they kill humans
Posted: 7/11/2007 9:12:55 PM
First off, putting a wild animal in a zoo is a bit cruel...if all it knows is it's world, then it's put in a cage, I doubt it will be very content. Also, you hear stories all the time of some idiot who was told NOT to bother the dog behind the fence with a sign on it and a chain on the dog...but wouldn't ya know, he/she gets bit because he/she just HAD to go over that fence. Now that animal is dead.

Man is the problem with feral animals...we let our pets, who should be a responsibility, reproduce and make more animals. I worked for a vet and several times I heard, "it's not my fault my dog or cat gets your dog or cat pregnant...I ain't gonna cut 'em off....get the **** fixed..."

We encroach on an animal's territory...they can't find food...so they go into our yards and look for food. I don't know if this is all over the US, but in some places if you just feed a bear, it will be destroyed. If you get into water that has a sign warning you of alligators, chances are good you WILL meet one...if you walk into a lion's cage, a tiger's, any cage or area with an animal in it, chances are you WILL meet whatever is there. If you are DUMB enough to do this, you asked for it.

The neat thing about animals is they don't attack and kill just for the hell of it. They are either defending themselves or hungry. These people that were going around killing stingrays after Steve Irwin was killed shows us how stupid people can be. The pit bull problem...more dumbasses that abuse and destroy...and if you keep letting your dogs and/or cats reproducing, you're part of a big problem.

Start showing some respect...teach your kids what is allowed, and if they can't treat an animal they way it should be treated, DON'T GET ONE. Show them how to approach a dog, what to do if faced with one w/o an owner around, and e specially, how to enjoy nature, not destroy it.

Should basic English language skills be required for LEGAL citizenship?
Posted: 7/4/2007 8:11:16 PM
My father married a Phillipino woman over 20 years ago. To this day, she barely speaks English...or pretends to. My father has mental health problems, so she HAS learned, with the help of her English speaking sister and all her relatives that have made it over here, how to make sure his SS and pension checks are being used. She's gotten so good at it, my father handed over his inheritence to her sister for a new house...so they could move in more of their family.

My point is, they ALWAYS speak their language when around us..it's very aggravating, especially when it has come down to discussing my dad's welfare. He says he's not worried about learning her language, and she certainly hasn't tried to teach him.

If I were to move to Italy, I would need to learn Italian. Don't be stupid...if you live here, learn the language. If you don't want to, then don't **** when your rights are abused.

Help find Kelsey Smith - Missing Teenager from Kansas
Posted: 6/8/2007 8:09:45 PM
Years ago I used to walk my dog late at night. It was quiet, AND it is hard to be seen. Friends told me I was taking a chance, and I guess I was, but I never dressed inapropriately (always sweats and a bulky tshirt.) Besiides, I had a right to walk where and when I wanted. It was my way to relax. One night someone tried to get me in his car. I was screaming and holding onto the door and the hood of the car as he kept pushing me...he almost got me in but I refused...I pushed back, he lost his balance and I hit him as hard as I could with a dog chain (my dog sucked at protection..all he did was bark) on his head and took off.

I was very lucky, but so was he. He got away with it. But he didn't get me in that car...thank God.

A Devoted American's Appeal to Fellow Patriots
Posted: 6/5/2007 9:22:24 PM
Let's not forget EVERYONE'S ancestors came from somewhere else...some of us have been here longer than the others...AND don't forget what our ancestors did to the Native Americans when they came over...or what our ancestors did to the slaves when they kept them against their will...so any complaining about illegal aliens seems a bit redundant. We don't know why a person leaves their country to come here..sure it's annoying that they do...taking jobs that, btw, many of us "Americans" pay shit for wages because
we can. Seems we complain about them until we can take advantage and make some money...

You can't blame a person for wanting a better life. Just don't do it with drugs or something that only causes more problems for everybody. We do that enough already. And obviously, we can't do much about it.

Movies now suck...what happened?
Posted: 6/5/2007 8:56:08 PM
~"Rope" was my favorite A Hitchcock movie...
~Just saw "Letters From Iwo Jima"...all subtitled, but I thought BETTER than "Flags of Our Fathers..."
~"Smokin' Aces" was a great action film...
~I remember watching H Bogart in "The Caine Mutiny." It was very good...

Some other good ones...
"Saving Grace"
"Empire Of The Sun"
The FIRST "When A Stranger Calls"
"The Cowboys" w/John Wayne...was never a fan of his but the movie is an all-time favorite.
"Alpha Dogs"
"Deja Vu"
"Glory"

Don't let anyone tell you a movie you like is bad...it's all about enjoyment...escape...

Why Does The Bible Exist?
Posted: 5/13/2007 5:38:07 PM
hmmm...like mythology (Greek, Roman, or any of the different ones out there), I believe the different books of the Bible came about to explain how things happened and why. Man's explanation for being here...the existance of a higher power, and so on. Who knows which came first...the Muslim's version or the Middle Eastern's version...however many there are. They are ALL holy books to certain people, no matter how scary they can be at times. Too bad some people take things out of context in them.

Fires during the dry season, why must we have this every year?
Posted: 5/12/2007 2:29:32 PM
Hmmm...could be the dumb ass that threw a cigarette out....or the kids that started one recently just because they could...fire is important to the ecology, but too many times it's human error (stupidity).

DON'T THROW YOUR LIT CIGARETTE OUT on the ground. Make sure your campfire is completely out. Not really hard to do.

Brave little dog gave its life to save children....
Posted: 5/8/2007 5:08:00 PM
Dogs are special that way...and that pit...was a product of his owners and the environment he lived in. Working at a vet, the pits that came in were sweet...never a bad one in the bunch. It's people that make them bad...supposedly there are dog fights in my neighborhood...of course, no one can catch them, but one way of making them mean is to put gunpowder in their food.

A conspiracy...nice...seems to me all the people that knew he had a problem, especially the ones that ordered him to seek help failed...it's partially their fault...they didn't follow through. Mental illness is something a lot of people have trouble understanding...and very rarely want to do something about. My father is bi-polar, and when we had trouble with him, the powers that be were more concerned with legalities than his health. Thank God he never hurt anyone (but himself). Maybe you should worry about helping someone who needs it, Catman, instead of crying wolf.

Try not to worry. I go for my 6 month check up in a couple of weeks and it entails bloodwork AND a chest xray. Just keep a positive outlook...if it's something to worry about, you'll have plenty of time for that. THEN you will fight...but don't get ahead of yourself. Just remember...your health is more important than a dr bill...

Mental illness and demon possession
Posted: 5/6/2007 5:34:59 PM
When my dad got so far into his bipolar ravings because he was off his meds, we would call a guy thru the mental health dept here in town to assess him. He would come out to the house and talk to him. Of course my dad was all "normal" and nice, so the most the guy would do is talk him into agreeing to go to the hospital. Call your local health department...you can't be expected to sneak your mom's neds into her food every time. Talk to her doctor...get insistant...sometimes they never seemed to take me seriously when I was worried, so you have to be a pain in the ass about it.

Btw...once my father got a angry and slapped a pill out of my hand, threatening to burn the house down. THat's when the guy who was talking to him called the police. I had witnesses. Sometimes you'll need that.

Good luck.

yep...nowadays a student can disrespect a teacher and the teacher has to take it. I know one who had the mother in her face AFTER the student said something nasty. NO ONE's child EVER did anything wrong...it's always someone else's fault...

As for television and video games...funny, I never became violent because I watched a violent cop show or played a role playing game. If your kid does something BAD, it's because that's what he does, not because an episode of Battlestar Galactica got overly exciting.

Soldier gets 100 years in prison
Posted: 4/29/2007 8:28:17 PM
Yes it is the greatest country in the world, in spite of the few pieces of trash that give our soldiers a bad name. How sad it must be for those that are fighting to have one of their own doing such horrendous things. Don't forget what happened at the prison.

How embarrassing to know your child went off to fight for his or her country and disgraces all of us with such actions as these. Cut the crap about being tired and battle weary. I'm sure that, unless you've led a very charmed life, a lot of people have had terrible things happen to them, that have seemed just as bad to them as what a soldier goes thru, yet they have dealt with it. They haven't killed or hurt someone unless it was in self defense.

Support our troops.

Is not wanting children considered selfish??
Posted: 4/29/2007 8:11:59 PM
NO, not selfish at all. I didn't have children, which is just as well considering the history of my family. I think some people were meant to be parents, and some not. Unfortunately, some think it's a terrible thing to be childless, then after taking fertility drugs, have 6 at once...THAT'S selfish.

As for overpopulation, it IS a problem. There's no reason to fill in every inch of land mass with more people...we need to work on the ones that are here.

Don't let others tell you you are being selfish...there's adoption...foster care...whatever you feel is right...but no one has a right to tell you what you should and shouldn't do.

Enlarged Lymphnode Gland. How worried should I be?
Posted: 4/28/2007 5:03:22 PM
I don't want to scare you, but when they found an oddititie on my left breast (from he mammogram), they called me back. There was a small lump appparently. I was sent to a specialist. As she was examining me, she found my left lymph node was swollen. I was sent across the street for a biopsy (which is no big deal...barely felt it at all). It came back benign. A week later the specialist removed the lump in my breast (benign) and the swollen lymph node since the swelling never went down. It was Hodgkin's. Apparently, a biopsy isn't always what it should be either. She found this by accident, so I consider myself very lucky. No more Hodgkin's. I did have to go thru the chemo and then radiation, but it's gone. I now am down to once every 6 months for a check up, which includes the blood test for the elevated white count.

What I want to say is go get it checked out. If the Dr. doesn't seem worried and the swelling won't go down go to another Dr. As for money, well, I didn't have any either, but ya know, it was either worry about some bills or DIE. My Drs were great...they never once said anything about money. They were concerned with making me better. You can worry about it later. Any Dr who is more concerned with getting paid than with healing you is not the one you need to be with. Besides, you can allways work w/the hospital and drs...mine erased my bill when they saw my financials and my dr matched it. I'm not saying it would happen, but there's a way around everything. Your health is more important than anything. Hopefully it's nothing, but do NOT ignore it..

If you have any other questions feel free to let me know and we can talk when you need to.

What do you do when you are bipolar?
Posted: 4/28/2007 1:10:17 AM
hmmm...it's great you don't take meds...my dad is bi-polar and he has to...his problem is when he feels healthy he stops, and so the spiral begins. He's moody, and his mania is not something he needs to enjoy. It's a dangerous part of his disease.

I hope you are honestly able to control it. Personally I'd go to another doctor and get a second opinion, but then again your BP may not be as bad as my father's. God I hope not. Good luck to you.

I wouldn't let her comment bother you. It seems to me she's being a bit selfish. She is an adult, and she should be happy her mom is trying to be happy. You are trying to get on with your life and she should be supportive in that. Also, don't let her dissuade you from seeing someone she doesn't think is "cool." We've all met someone we feel uncomfortable about and just don't like...that's different. But if she tells you the guy isn't right for you because she doesn't like his clothes, well that's a bit much.

How's about people STOP judging others and be thankful there are those who fight for WHATEVER country they are from? Every country has it's good and it's bad, and personally, after all the fighting and killing here AND over THERE, I get tired of people bashing another counntry because they think they've done this or that. Ever think that if everyone that complains about this and that (especially political) actually did something that would help ONE thing they believe in, whether it's political or social or whatever...can you imagine what can be accomplished?

Sorry...bad week...the news lately doesn't help.

Have a GREAT weekend everyone!!

Nasty, Belligerent and Inconsiderate Tenants - HELP!
Posted: 4/21/2007 7:39:19 PM
One other thing you mentioned...one night a dog had been barking for quite a while...it was getting late and I had to work. I called the police...he asked me if I'd tried talking to them...I told him that I had to live here, and if they happened to be jerks and wanted to start something, they would know who it was that complained from then on (or thought they knew)...they could came back at me. So don't bother with talking to them...don't even act like it bothers you in front of them. Keep calling the cops...hell I'd tape their conversations on the really bad nights, and take THAT to your landlord. Good luck...

Crook wins damages for injury during theft

Not trying to piss off any lawyers, cause some of them actually do good...but to get a crook off because he got hurt where he was "working?" About as dumb as the woman who sued McDonalds when she spilled the hot coffee in her lap. Pathetic.

Call the cops...I have neighbors that get that way...I got tired of it...I was told if they get enought comlaints about them, they will arrest them. That's a major pet peeve of mine...some people don't care about anyone but themselves. And it doesn't help when the ppeople who are supposed to be in authority do nothing.

What about thw other tenants? Don't they complain , too? Maybe if everyone got together and complained they'd do somthing. Good luck.
