Is anyone concerned that if they execute someone for rape ,a future criminal might think " Hmm I am going to be executed for raping this child so I will go ahead and kill them anyway ,because I will get death either way ."

If the death penalty results in one innocent death, then it should be abolished entirely. I would not not be willing to take the chance of killing an innocent person.

Some folks in this post are speaking about putting someone to death as though the death penalty were fool-proof, but logic and statistics tell us it isn't. But knowing this, some folks are still content to put people to death because the number of innocent people killed and later found innocent is "small" to them.

It's safer to go out with a group of people than to allow ourselves to be vulnerable by not having the protection of someone else around us...

Now imagine if some these scapegoated innocent people were executed...

I figured out what was bothering me about this thread, is that we have started this whole discussion with the assumption that the fictitious 'serial murder/rapist' in question is guilty. We can never be truly certain of that.

ALWAYS meet in a public place during daylight hours, even after the first couple of dates. You can't let your guard down even if you've met him a couple of times. Don't meet at each others homes and don't get into each others vehicles. You just have to think smart and be cautious. When guys make comments that you're too cautious, or they ask to meet after dark and late at night, they're not to be trusted anyway. He "is" a wonderful man. Yes, he cheated on his marriage; that's something that he has to live with. I will always cherish him and what we shared; and, no one will make me feel guilty for doing so.

Ending this relationship was very hard on me. Yet, I know I've survived life's struggles to this day. I will survive this "bump in the road". Hurt can cause us pain; but, it's through the pain that we grow and learn. It can work to our advantage if we see the positive side of our struggles and not focus on what's hurting in the moment. I saw a great little news report on YouTube of a car being produced in India that uses compressed air (stored in onboard tanks) to run an engine roughly based on an internal combustion engine. The most important thing I did was buy a Prius a few years ago, AND learn how to drive it as efficiently as possible. 50 mpg in the winter and 60 mpg in the summer became my norm, with several tanks over 70 mpg when I was really pulling out all the stops to drive as efficiently as possible.

Surely you are not suggesting people slightly alter their lifestyle, give up the "needed" extra bedroom, the formal dining room, utitlity room and nice big yard for the kids to play safely in?

The price of gas is pissing me off. Not because I can't afford it, but because that I feel that we are being taken advantage of, because of our dependence on it.
